My Review:
They Visit When It's Dark is the first book by Hash Black that I’ve read. It pulled me in from the first page and continued to draw me in the more I read. The suspense kept me hanging on every word as I raced through the story, eager to see what would happen next.
They Visit When It's Dark tells the story of a teenage boy who falls in love with a girl but is too shy to speak to her. One day at school, he gathers the courage to approach her. However, when he stands right in front of her, his voice abandons him. All that escapes his lips is a tiny squeak. The kids laugh at him and make jokes. Day after day, they pick on him, shove him into lockers, and call him names.
Finally, he decides he’s had enough. He wants to leave it all behind and try once more to be happy and fulfill his dreams. He’s not going to let these kids take away his aspirations of being with the girl of his dreams.
So, he devises a plan to win her over before the school trip. He gets a job so he can buy a phone, believing it will help him connect with her. He takes a job walking dogs, which doesn’t earn him much.
What will he do now that his job isn't providing enough money for a phone? What are his next steps? How will he manage to get a phone before the deadline?
