Book Tour + #Giveaway: Earth’s Last Encore by Logan Peterson @RABTBookTours

Science Fiction

Date Published : 07-24-2025

Saddled with a dying sun, humanity has no time to catch its breath after barely fighting off alien invaders. A defective yet determined super-soldier, Lieutenant ‘Duck’ Diaz shoulders the task of proving humanity’s worth to the Stellarans, an advanced alien species offering salvation.

Haunted by his failures and mistrusted by those he fights to save, Duck finds an unexpected ally in Hannily, the Stellaran princess who believes in the potential for unity. Together, they must bridge the divide between two fractured worlds, confronting betrayal, cultural rifts, and their own doubts to give humanity a second chance at survival—or risk losing everything to the void.

Interview with Logan Peterson

What is your favorite part of the book?

It’s actually one of the quieter scenes of the story where our heroine realizes that the hero can’t be everything he said he would be for her. It’s the start of her realizing that she has to change, not just for herself, but for him. Meanwhile, all of this is tied into an argument where two characters are misunderstanding each other because they have different expectations of themselves and each other. I’d call it one of the best relationship argument scenes you’ll ever read.

Does your book have a lesson? Moral?

For me, it all boils down to not letting your past or preconceptions of yourself prevent you from finding your purpose in life. Whether it be something you’ve been striving towards or something other people have set out for you, sometimes you must open yourself up to the fact that you or the people around you were wrong, and opening yourself up to change can be what ignites your destiny.

Are your characters based off real people or did they all come entirely from your imagination?

The main heroine is heavily based on my wife. It was hard not to turn her into my dream girl, but my wife loved her, so I would consider it a success. The rest of the characters are based on different aspects of myself, some in little ways and others in big ways.

Of all the characters you have created, which is your favorite and why?

Eve is my favorite character. I’m a big fan of the Tsundere archetype, and being able to write a character whose intentions are good, but life has made her into kinda a bitch is so much fun. I love writing characters you hate at the beginning and then root for by the end, and Eve fits that to a tee.

What character in your book are you least likely to get along with?

Commander Vernon. Although I was in the Army, I never really got accustomed to authority. I’ve always been a punk at heart and would probably butt heads with him even more than Duck does.

What would the main character in your book have to say about you?

He would probably get tired of my goofy nature and think I was too wishy-washy. Duck is a very serious person, and he would get sick of my jokes because I would for sure make fun of him if we hung out.

Do you want each book to stand on its own, or are you trying to build a body of work with connections between each book?

Earth’s Last Encore can stand on its own, and while I do have plans for a second and third if it’s received well, I don’t like the idea of being tied down to one universe. I created this universe for a particular set of themes in mind, and once I’m done exploring those, it will be time to put it to rest so I can make a new world with special themes tailored to it.

Book Tour: Full Phoenix Rising by Duncan Robinson @ultrarobbo05 @RABTBookTours

Real Time Grace at the Speed of Jesus

Religion / Nonfiction / Christian Living / Spiritual Growth / Humor

Date Published: August 5, 2025

Publisher: Lucid Books Publishing

What do a Russian in gold hot-pants, a cow-pat fight, and real-time grace have in common? They all show up in this wildly funny, deeply heartfelt exploration of what it means to live out faith in the mess of real life.

Full Phoenix Rising is not your typical Christian inspiration book. It’s part memoir, part stand-up comedy, and part soul-reflection, told by a black-sheep pastor with a knack for getting into trouble—and finding Jesus there. Duncan invites readers into his most awkward moments, spiritual insights, and hilarious disasters to remind us that God’s grace isn’t reserved for the polished and perfect—it’s for the ones still wiping off the cow poo and reaching for hope.

If you’ve ever felt like you don’t quite fit in at church, questioned your worth, or just needed permission to laugh at how weird this whole faith thing can be, this book is for you. Come for the cow-pats, stay for the grace.

Interview with Duncan Robinson

How did publishing your first book change your process of writing?

I think you become much more aware of the amount of work that needs to go into having a clear skeleton and understanding how concepts need to work together in a clear direction. I honestly thought you just string a bunch of chapters together and you have a book, but it is really important to have a shape to the narrative and know where you want to land the idea.

What was an early experience where you learned that language had power?

I remember doing toastmasters, and most people did a serious conversation on some topic. I wanted to do a stand-up comedy critique on people at school. Basically a satirical presentation of culture at the time. I remember at the state level getting a big round of laughter and really started to think about comedy to bring joy into people’s lives but also using it as a vessel to communicate truth or wisdom.

What one thing would you give up to become a better writer?

Back pain. Honestly sitting down for long periods of time is probably the hardest thing about writing!

Tell us a little about yourself? Perhaps something not many people know?

So I pastor 4 days a week, I coach Brazilian Jiu Jitsu 2 times a week, I have a creative communications side business that books work sporadically. I am working on an AI project with a crew out of north America, and I’ve done a bunch of podcasts. Then in my spare time I’m married with 2 kids and coach two sports for them in basketball and baseball. Most people know that stuff, I think I often come across as extroverted but thoroughly enjoy being alone, I’ll often watch documentaries on youtube about like people living in rustic cabins in the snow and think I’d love to do that.

If you had to do something differently as a child or teenager to become a better writer as an adult, what would you do?

Learn grammar better so I can write good.

What is the biggest surprise that you experienced after becoming a writer?

I honestly think the best moment is when someone who you don’t know or have ever met sends a message to speak to the impact of your words. When that happens it is the best feeling.

Could you tell us a bit about your most recent book and why it is a must-read?

I don’t think many books are a must read outside of the bible. I certainly don’t feel that way about mine. I think its an important topic on how we approach grace in a way to model it after Jesus. I think the book is both a witty reflection on 20 years of pastoring alongside an important note towards the future of church being slower and a little messier. If you feel a little like a black sheep on a Sunday at church then I can relate (and do in the book). If that resonates with you then I encourage you to read it!

About the Author

Duncan Robinson—the Pastor of Disaster (his words, not ours) and Australia’s first Black Belt Pastor in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu—currently leads a small but mighty church in the Northern Beaches of Sydney.

Before stepping into full-time ministry, Duncan spent years waking up Sydney with wisdom, wit, and questionable life choices as the host of one of the city’s most popular Breakfast Radio Shows.

With over 20 years of pastoral experience in Australia and the USA, he is fluent in both “G’day Mate” and “Bless your heart.” He’s married with two kids and an American Chocolate Labrador, who is convinced every sermon should include belly rubs.

Equipped to handle both heresy and headlocks, Duncan takes pastoral care very seriously—though whether a theological debate ends in grace or a grappling match depends entirely on the situation.

He proudly refers to himself as a Professor, purely to annoy actual academics. What can we say? He’s a man of many talents.

My Review:

Black Forest Cake Murder is the second book in the Sinclair Sisters Bakery Mystery series by Karen McSpade. It is the first book I’ve read in the series, although I knew it; I didn’t even realize it when I was reading it.

I was drawn into the story from the beginning. I like the Sinclair Sisters, Holly, Noelle, and Joy, and I like that the story is told from all three sisters' points of view. Holly, Noelle, and Joy run a bakery with their father.

They are preparing for a food critic to visit their bakery. The food critic seemed to be somewhere else during the review, which made her seem like she might not be a decent person. However, I believe she was preoccupied with troubling thoughts.

Later, the food critic is found dead in an alley. The Sinclair sisters’ dad becomes the prime suspect in the case, as he didn’t have an alibi. The sisters set out to prove their father’s innocence, as they knew their dad did not kill that woman.

I enjoyed getting to know the sisters and hearing about their lives. The mystery and suspense kept me on the edge of my seat. I wanted to know what was happening, who killed the food critic, and why.

I can’t wait to see what happens after Black Forest Cake Murder. I look forward to the next book in the Sinclair Sisters Bakery Mystery series. I wonder what awaits the Sinclair Sisters!

Not only that, but I highly recommend Black Forest Cake Murder to all murder mystery fans! Grab a copy of Black Forest Cake Murder today!

“How’s he doing? Fitting in okay?”

The dock foreman, Toryn, leaned against the frame of the plate-glass window we stood at as we watched the workers in the shipping area below. “Seems to be. He gets along with the guys pretty well.”

I glanced at him, one eyebrow raised. “But…”

He sighed. “He struggles to stay on task sometimes, and he tends to daydream a good bit. Not a bad thing inherently, but not great when working around forklifts and eighteen-wheelers.”

I couldn’t help but chuckle. The young man who’d captured my attention weeks ago was indeed a bit flighty at times. According to Cam, Bobby Kirkland had always been that way, and a diagnosis of ADHD as a pre-teen had answered a lot of questions. He needed structure and routine, in my opinion. I’d hoped working here would give him that, but he still seemed to have trouble staying focused on occasion.

The bell signaling the end of the workday rang out in the warehouse. I spotted Bobby going toward the door that led into the large breakroom where the lockers were. Beside me, Toryn snickered softly.

“I’m surprised you haven’t claimed him yet.”

I turned away from the window. “Soon.”

I followed him out of my office and downstairs. Most of the workers were already heading home, but a few -- including Bobby -- remained in the breakroom. Toryn patted my shoulder and went to his own locker. The others glanced over at me, and a couple of them shot Bobby teasing smirks. Even from the doorway, I saw him blush. There wasn’t any hint of jealousy with this group, thankfully. When Bobby met my gaze, I discreetly gestured for him to join me upstairs. He nodded, and I headed back up. Once I claimed him, we’d be able to speak telepathically and not worry about coworker issues. Then again, he also wouldn’t be working either, but that was a discussion for another day.

A few minutes after I sat down on the small couch in my office, the door opened. Bobby smiled, though there was a good bit of nervousness behind it. He shut the door and sat a couple of feet beside me at my urging. I twisted a little to face him and got comfortable.

“How was work?”

“Good,” he said, fidgeting a bit with his hands, like he didn’t know what to do with them. One leg bounced a little.

“Have you had any problems with your coworkers?”

Bobby didn’t answer right away, which told me everything I needed to know. I reached over and put my hand on his knee, stilling the movement almost immediately. His eyes widened for a moment, making him seem far younger than thirty-one. Of course, at my age, he was young.

“What is it? You can tell me anything, Bobby.”

He swallowed and tore his gaze from mine. I waited while he thought about whatever he wanted to say. Finally, he spoke. “Just a couple of guys who seem to think I’m an idiot.” He looked back up at me. “I’m not. I just get… distracted sometimes, hyper focused at others.”

“No, you’re definitely not an idiot. You wouldn’t be working here if so,” I said. “Have they done or said anything directly to you?”

“No, but I’ve caught a few whispers here and there,” he replied. “Not to mention the weird glances.” He shrugged and sighed. “I feel like I’m back in fucking high school, to be honest. It’s ridiculous.”

I chuckled softly and gave his knee a gentle squeeze. “I have a potential solution then, but I think we need to have a good, long talk before we go any further.”

Bobby nodded and stared down at my hand. “I honestly started to worry that this was a one-sided thing,” he muttered.

Unable to resist, I lifted my hand to cup his chin, tilting his head until I was looking into those soulful brown eyes. I stroked my thumb across his lower lip, and he let out a soft gasp. “I assure you, this is very much mutual. That said, there are details we must go over first.”

“Those details have anything to do with your necklace?”

I smiled and lifted the thin chain from under my shirt. Light reflected off the tiny handcuff pendant accented with garnets. “Indeed. How about we have dinner, and we can chat?”

“Sounds good to me. I need to let Dad and Cam know where I’ll be. I don’t have to, but it’s an old habit.”

“Absolutely, and a good one to have. Do you have any food preferences or sensitivities I need to know about?”

“I’m lactose intolerant, but that’s it.”

“Understood. Let Beau and Cam know what’s going on and then meet me in my chambers upstairs. Normally, I’d take you out, but the things we need to discuss are not for anyone else’s ears.”

His gaze shifted a bit, and I couldn’t ignore the urge any longer. Fingers gripping his chin, I tipped his head and leaned close. Bobby’s soft moan the moment our lips touched sent almost overwhelming need rushing through me. His scent -- a decadent mix of soap, shampoo, and something woodsy yet sweet -- filled every part of my psyche. The urge to bite flitted through my mind, but I shoved it away for now. I knew he was mine; I didn’t need to taste his blood to confirm it.

Bobby opened for me, pliant, eager, and so insanely delicious. I released his chin and cupped the back of his head, pushing the kiss into hungrier territory for both of us. Before I could lose control and take him right here, though, I made myself pull back. He grumbled, and I nipped his lower lip before soothing it with my tongue.

“Dinner,” I murmured. “I need to taste every inch of you but not before we talk.”
