Book Tour + #Giveaway: One Year in Paris by Susan Horsnell @horsnell_susan @RABTBookTours

Contemporary Romance

Date Published: 07-25-2025

Publisher: Lipstick Publishing

When Annalise Garner arrives in Paris to study art, she’s chasing quiet—far from her Southern roots, far from expectations. What she doesn’t expect is to meet Jett Hunter, a star American soccer player with green eyes, a bruised past, and a future under a constant spotlight.

Jett lives for the game. Annelise lives for the canvas. But when fate intertwines their worlds on a rain-soaked street in the City of Lights, neither is prepared for the slow-burn connection that follows.

As their hearts tangle between café tables and gallery walls, the intrusion of the press and career choices threaten to pull them apart.

Jett faces pressure to return to New York.

Annalise wrestles with who she is beyond her art.

And just when they start to find their rhythm, a devastating injury changes everything.

Set against the romance of Paris and the quiet beauty of rebuilding a life, One Year in Paris is a tender story of love that endures the noise, finds strength in the silence, and blooms where it’s least expected.

Interview with Susan Horsnell

What is your favorite part of the book?

When they share their first kiss.

Does your book have a lesson? Moral?

Not really. It just shows you can meet the 'right' person at the 'right' time anywhere in the world whether you think you are ready or not.

Are your characters based off real people or did they all come entirely from your imagination?

Imagination, knowing what it's like to grow up in the public eye, and a visit to Paris.

Of all the characters you have created, which is your favorite and why?

I loved Jett. He was so caring and kind of lost but Annalise opened his heart and he opened hers.

What character in your book are you least likely to get along with? Erik.

He only cares about himself and not the feelings of others.

What would the main character in your book have to say about you?

I think both main characters would say I understood their need to fade into the background.

Do you want each book to stand on its own, or are you trying to build a body of work with connections between each book?

This is a stand alone book.

My Review:

Body in the Bandroom is the second installment and an excellent follow-up in Etta True’s Adri Foster Cozy Mystery series. Similar to the first book, Body in the Bushes, this sequel kicks off with a dramatic event. Winslow Reed, the principal and coach of the local middle school girls' basketball team, has met an untimely demise. Adri discovers his body in the bandroom where she teaches.

The probe into Mr. Reed’s passing reveals several potential suspects who might have had motives against him. However, when one of the teachers, Fred Diaz, becomes a person of interest, Adri takes it upon herself to uncover the truth, convinced that the teacher is innocent.

From the very first page, I was on the edge of my seat, with numerous plot twists propelling me towards the conclusion to learn the fate of Mr. Reed. I was eager to uncover who was responsible and their reasoning. Was it a mere accident, or was there something more nefarious at play?

Body in the Bandroom is an enthralling tale that captivated me from start to finish. I am excited to delve into more of the Adri Foster Cozy Mystery series to discover the next crime Adri encounters.

I wholeheartedly recommend Body in the Bandroom to all enthusiasts of cozy mysteries! Make sure to pick up your copy of Body in the Bandroom today for another intriguing mystery to unravel!

Author Bio:

DM is a lover of all things creative. From the moment she could speak, growing up in Massachusetts, she had a passion for flair and drama, putting on concerts for anyone who was even remotely interested (and even for those who were not). A storyteller by nature, she first pursued her young dream of becoming a singing diva while living in Arizona. She soon found that stage life wasn't the only form of storytelling she craved, so she dropped the mic and picked up a pencil instead. She still hasn't given up on her diva-ness, and hopes her pencil stays as sharp as her tongue.

A dark sense of humor and curiosity for haunted houses and things out of the ordinary led her down the path of completing her first novel, Inside. Several other projects are constantly floating around in her head and her laptop daily, and sometimes keeping her up much too late at night. Occasionally, those projects are so dark and twisted, she needs to leave a nightlight on.

She now lives in Northern California with her two fluffy furbabies, Cezare and Michaleto.

Excerpt:

I’d only made it three steps inside before they both looked over at the same time. Nichols waved me over.

I’d barely known Wendy Truell, but the faintness of our acquaintance didn’t matter. It’s still a shock to see someone seemingly in the prime of life with a bullet hole in their face.

She had on a silk crimson robe with black piping and, as far as could be told, nothing else. She was slumped so her head rested on the pillow at the end of the couch. Except for the blood and gore around her, she could have stretched out to take a nap.

Far as I could tell, it was a single shot. The front of her face wasn’t too messed up, except for the entry wound, with most of the damage apparent from where the slug or slugs exited the back of her head.

A highball glass containing some sort of mixed drink sat on the coffee table next to an open laptop with a blank screen.

The originally green couch pillow was drenched in red.

Jesus,” I said.

Nichols tells me you knew the woman,” Santiago said by way of greeting.

More like met. I probably spent a grand total of forty-five minutes with her, if that.”

Santiago jerked his head, and the three of us walked back out into the hallway and down a ways to talk in private.

My Review:

A Hollywood TV producer, John Carson, arrives in town with plans to create a reality TV show about Sam Quinton’s life. Sam is unsure about participating but listens to Carson’s pitch while considering the idea.

Carson wants to produce a reality show, but his proposed ideas are quickly turning it into a scripted drama that he intends to pass off as reality. I don’t think his business partner, Wendy Truell, likes this idea very much, but she stays silent in front of Sam.

The following day, Wendy is found murdered in her motel room. John Carson becomes the main suspect, especially since he can’t be located. Later, Carson reaches out to Sam, asking for his help. Carson insists he did not kill Wendy.

I was immediately suspicious of Carson because some of his statements didn’t add up, making me question everything he was saying. I wondered if he could be the killer. He knew information that hadn’t been made public. If he didn’t commit the crime, then how did he know details about the crime scene that only the killer would have known?

The mystery and suspense were intense, leaving me with many questions—what was really going on, and if Carson might be telling the truth after all, then who killed Wendy and why?

I love reading about Sam Quinton and the numerous cases he solves. I can’t wait to read the next installment in the Sam Quinton series.

I highly recommend The Booker to all mystery fans! Grab a copy today! And while you’re at it, check out all of the Sam Quinton books!
