Blurb:
Her
father traded her for peace. The enemy commander intends to teach her
exactly what she is worth.
Lady
Audelina has spent her life being bartered between powerful men. When
a fragile truce makes her an Oath Hostage to the Metal Fae, she
expects imprisonment.
She does not expect Lord Platinor of
Clan Argentum.
The feared Metal Knight has just
surrendered his beloved sister to the humans in exchange for
Audelina, and one look at the jeweled noblewoman convinces him he
received the lesser bargain. He strips away her silks, her station,
and every privilege she once possessed. At his feet, she is no longer
Lady Audelina.
She is Tarnish.
Forced to serve
in his war camp and kneel beside him through the negotiations that
may end generations of bloodshed, Audelina clings to the one thing he
cannot take from her: her dignity. But the longer Platinor watches
the human he dismissed as weak endure everything he demands, the
harder it becomes to deny her intelligence, courage, and dangerous
appeal.
Hatred gives way to reluctant understanding. Cruel
commands become quiet conversations. And beneath the discipline of
the legendary Metal Knight waits a man Audelina was never supposed to
want.
But resentment is spreading through the Metal Fae
ranks, and the fragile peace is beginning to crack. When violence
threatens both the treaty and Audelina herself, desire may prove more
dangerous than either of them imagined.
He can protect her
from a blade. Earning the right to ask for her heart will be much
harder.

My Review:
After reading the summary for Tarnish & the Metal Knight, I thought I knew exactly what to expect—but I couldn't have been more wrong. What I found instead was far better than anything I could have imagined. From the very first page, I was drawn deep into this captivating world and couldn't turn the pages fast enough. The world-building is astonishingly well-done, making it effortless to visualize every detail, from the vibrant colors to the furniture, as if I were standing right there.
My heart broke for Lady Audelina. All her life, her father used her as a bargaining chip for his own gain, even arranging a marriage to an old man who only wanted her to bear his children. Now, she has been traded to Lord Platinor of Clan Argentum—a feared Metal Knight who surrendered his own sister to humans in exchange for Audelina. Believing she is nothing but a spoiled princess, the Metal Knight strips away her silks, her station, and every privilege she once held. The author describes the hardships and punishments laid upon her so vividly that I felt every bit of her pain.
Though Tarnish & the Metal Knight is a relatively short read, it is packed with so much depth and detail that it feels like a much grander epic. It is the kind of story that makes you wish it would go on forever. As I read, I kept cheering for the day when Audelina would finally accept her true worth as a princess and find someone who genuinely cherishes her. I highly recommend picking up a copy today—if you love stories about princesses taken hostage, this is absolutely the book for you.
