Review of WHIPPED (The Red Shoe Memoirs, Book 2) by Karpov Kinrade @KarpovKinrade @badassmktg #WHIPPED

Whipped
The Red Shoe Memoirs #2
By Karpov Kinrade
Published February 2, 2015 by Daring Books

Blurb:

I love sex. I used to be a professional Dominatrix by day and a recreational Dom by night. Now I co-own a sex shop by day. I still do the Dom thing by night, when I can.

So, yeah, I love sex. But I'm not a sub. That's never been me. I like to maintain control in the bedroom. That gets me off.

But when the guy I've been chatting up online as a potential roommate shows up at my condo dripping sex and temptation… let's just say I might be open to trying new things… for him.

If his playboy ways don’t drive me insane. And if I can do the one thing I've never done for anyone. Surrender.

What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas. But when you live here full time… that's not much comfort, is it?

Whipped (Vi's story) is a sexy, full-length, standalone romance in the Hitched series. These books can be read in any order, but you might also enjoy Hitched, the first book in this series.

Content Warning: This book contains sex, swearing... and did we mention sex? Lots of sex. And abs. And Australian accents.

My Review:

I received a free copy of the book from the author for my honest opinion.

We first met Vi in Hitched book #1 of The Red Shoe Memoirs. Vi is best friends with Kacie and Tate, twins in Hitched who own their own business Hitched where they cater bachelor & bachelorette parties. Vi used to be a Dom but now she owns her toy store which is called Whipped that is toys for adults.

Vi likes to have sex and she likes to be in control in the bedroom as you could say. Vi likes to play little games with her men folk in the bedroom it turns her on. She has never liked to be a sub. Sometimes she will bring a sub home with her to have a little fun with. Vi also likes to try out the merchandise at her store. She has to test out the products so that she knows that she is getting the best for her customers.

Vi runs into a little trouble with paying some bills after giving her being a Dom and opening up Whipped. When you first open a new business it is always a little slow. It takes time to build up a good solid business clientele. So the only thing Vi can think of doing to help pay the bills is to get herself a roommate.

When her new roommate shows up at her condo looking all hot she may just change her mind about not being a sub. When a guy is that hot and he is running around in your apartment half naked most of the time and you are an ex Dom I can see where that could turn into a problem. Yeah after a while you're going to be like who cares who is in control just give me some of that and I mean right now.

Lachlan, Vi's new roommate is a male stripper and he comes into Vi's store an awful lot to buy a few sex toys. Every time he shows up in her store he has a different woman hanging off him every time. There is more to Lachlan than Vi and probably most folks knows about Lachlan besides that he is an Aussie hottie. Lachlan has things that he wants to do for the young kids in the community.

I have read almost every book that Karpov Kinrade has written and I don't think that there was a one of them that I did not like. I loved them all. KK has a writing style that will rock your world. The first book in The Red Shoe Memoirs Hitched was awesome but so was Whipped. I loved both books and can't really say which one I liked the best. But I have really enjoyed reading Whipped I don't think I have laughed so hard in a long time. I would laugh right out loud and I would be the only one in the room.

But when my stepson came home for the weekend I was reading Whipped and as I was walking to the door to let him in I was laughing all the way to the door and he ask me when he came in what I was laughing at and I just told him it was something I read. I didn't want to put it down all weekend but there were times when I had no choice especially when both of my stepsons and one of their girlfriends was visiting. There were times that I laughed so hard I was hurting.

If you haven't had the chance to read Whipped yet or Hitched either then I think that you should especially if you need a good laugh. The characters will keep you rolling with the things that they say or research on the internet. I can't wait for the next book in The Red Shoe Memoirs. I can't wait to see what this author duo comes up with next. I know whatever it is I will love it. Keep 'em coming KK. You write 'em and we will read 'em.

Excerpt:

LANA RUBBED HER ARMS, still shivering under layers of clothing.

You should have worn your cloak, her father's voice warned, mixing within her thoughts. After years of his lectures and training, he had become a part of her-one that she assumed would eventually go away, or at least quiet down a bit.

Under the short skirt layered over her leather pants, Lana retrieved her dagger from its custom pocket. Leaves rustled behind her and she spun around, ready for her opponent.

"One day, I will catch you off guard," Bowen said, twisting his lips.

"You're late," she teased.

"What's the wager, Lana?" he asked, holding up his sparring sword, ready to fight.

"You'll mend my sword without payment."

"And if I win, you'll run double errands," he answered. She swung her sword and lunged at him. "Deal."

Their swords sliced back and forth, making for an almost equal bout. Bowen stood taller than her by a few inches and weighed double. She glided around him with ease. He turned, whipping his blade around expertly. Sweat already beaded on his face. Lana's heart pumped and her blood warmed. She jabbed her blade. Bowen swerved unsteadily, almost escaping her weapon, but her final swing landed perfectly along his ribcage. Bowen stumbled sideways and fell to the ground, his playful expression turning bitter.

Lana bowed her head. A smile began to creep along her face as she raised her eyes back up to meet his.

"Next time, I will finish you more quickly," she tried to joke, attempting to ease her conscience.

Bowen held his side and cringed. "You'll do anything to win," he said.

Lana offered her hand, but he refused. "I'm done," Bowen said as he stood up and walked away from her.

"Done? What?" Lana balked. "Bowen, wait." Lana dashed around in front of him and pushed her hand out against his chest. He stopped, seeming unsettled by her touch. His eyes turned sour and far from amused. "We've always been a team," she pressed him.

"I don't have time to play knight with you anymore," he argued, but didn't try to push past her.

"Oh, too good are you?" she teased again. Seeing no change, she got serious. "I suppose it's your mother?"

"Who else is going to mend your sword and everyone else's? Father's ill. You know that."

She stared into his eyes, begging. "You're the only one left who can still keep up. Who will train with me?"

"There's more to life than fighting, Lana. You need a skill," he said.

"I have a skill." Defending herself was an invaluable skill that few women possessed.

"One that matters, like… I don't know." Bowen seemed to blush a bit.

She cut him off. "Cooking? Sewing? A skill more fit for a woman, so that your mother would approve of me?" His eyes agreed with her words and the realization sliced at Lana's heart. She thought Bowen would stand by her, but he had stopped dreaming. She stepped out of his way.

What do you say now, Father? she thought. You won, but not over your anger. She kicked the ground and gritted her teeth. Walking away, she struggled to listen over her footsteps, wishing that Bowen would chase after her and beg her to forgive him for his lapse in judgment. Instead, stillness affirmed her fear. He had deserted her.
