The Shadow Soul
The Trailokya Trilogy #1
By- K. Williams
Genre- Epic Fantasy

The Shadow Soul is the first part of The Trailokya Trilogy, a fantasy series that follows the rise and fall of fabled races and souls at the junction of three worlds: Zion, Earth and Jahannam. K. Williams weaves a tale that will leave you questioning long held convictions about the human legends of Heaven and Hell. Are you ready to enter the gates of Zion and learn the truth?
Captain Maiel is a duta warrior of Zion, a race of giant, winged guardians and chroniclers of the lesser souls. Maiel's assurances are shaken when she nearly loses a young human girl to the dark forces of Jahannam, the prison realm where the lowest beings reside. To avoid answering to the leaders of her world, Maiel seeks refuge on Earth, but she is pursued by a baron of Jahannam intent on destroying her. Can she be saved before time runs out? Or will she be sacrificed to secure the borders of Zion and to hide the lie her journey uncovers?
With each step further into darkness, long held secrets are revealed and shadows rise from the past to challenge absolutes.

Publication Date: August 4, 2015
Publisher: Limitless Publishing

Synopsis

"When the embers of pain transform into passion."

After a terrible start in life, Asher Harris picks himself up and manages to carve out a fairly decent future. Content with living alone in his bookshop, he shies away from relationships and keeps trust to a minimum.

Emma Carnes hasn't seen Asher in years, though she's never forgotten him. Their one interaction as teenagers became pivotal to them both. It gave her a career.

It saved his life.

Taking small steps, hoping to get him to open up, Emma finds Asher's emotional walls hard to climb. He is far from receptive to her gentle persuasion, even when she seeks his help with a wounded child from the shelter she works in.

Emma sees the parallels between him and Asher, and tries to replicate the past. However, as she takes tentative steps with both of them, someone is taking steps toward her. Watching her for a pattern. Watching her to find out what she knows.

They each battle to stay together to keep what they've fought so hard to gain, will a cruel twist of fate finally show Asher what he could lose? Could it be too late to save the one person in life he trusts?

Meet M.A. Stacie

M. A. Stacie is never without a book or her eReader. A voracious reader, with a love of sexy, yet angst ridden novels, she adores getting lost in new worlds. Her need to write did not grip her until after her second son was born, when her previous rambles became fully fledged stories.

She describes herself as one huge contradiction, and though not the most conventional of hobbies, she counts getting new tattoos as one of hers. Running keeps her sane, along with knitting and listening to loud music.

M. A. Stacie lives in the UK with her husband and three sons.

Excerpt:

Matt jumped off the stage and made his way to whassername. Shit, he couldn’t believe he’d already forgotten her name. She was huddled in the front row, hair soaked and T-shirt clinging to—he swallowed hard—every part of her.

“Shit, I’m sorry. I told you to stay out of the front row.”

“I didn’t hear you. And by the time I figured out what you’d said, I was already mentally figuring out how to build an ark.” She blew a heavy wet strand of jet-black hair from her face.

As her gray eyes met his, he immediately remembered her name: Anya.

Anya. A silence fell as her name ran through his head, backward and forward, until it became a part of his regular vocabulary. Like “water,” and “air,” and “sexy as hell.”

What? Out of all the girls I’ve met since becoming “Will,” I get the hots for the one here to dig up our secrets.

Great going, Matt. Great.

“Just call me Noah,” she said as if she was reading his mind, the way his twin sometimes did.

He recovered his train of thought and laughed, relieved that she had such a great sense of humor. “If it’s any consolation, I’m a lot wetter than you, and I have to do this nearly every evening, whether it’s eighty degrees out or forty.”

She frowned. “Dude, you’re in the South. It’s never going to be forty degrees here.”

Busted. “True. I was really going for the sympathy vote.” He shrugged and grinned, heartened to see that she was grinning back.

“I’m not one for the sympathy vote. I vote practical all day long.” She stuffed her wet notebook into her wet bag and stood up.

“Good to know. And on that practical note, we should change into some dry clothes.”

“No kidding.”

Her smile had gone, and right there, he knew he’d do anything to see that mischievous grin again. Dammit. Get a grip. Diversion. Quick. “Hey, if you’re writing about us, don’t mention any details about the number you just saw us rehearse,” he said. “It’s the finale, and although people can’t help but post photos of it, we try not to mention the specifics…just to maybe surprise the people who aren’t on the fan sites.”

“Well it certainly surprised me. No problem. I won’t mention it,” she said.

Suddenly he pictured her totally wet, dripping from the rain or the shower. Her hair down, a real smile on her face, just for him. Water running down her shoulders, maybe clumping her eyelashes together…

Clumping her…? Jesus, Matt. Shut up, you wimp.

EXCERPT:

The road rushes under the wheels. I rearrange snippets of the frantic conversation. Gash. Some blood. Breathing fine. Emergency room. A few more miles to the hospital.

I flash back to this morning. Packed sack lunch, flop of dark hair across his bare forehead, navy backpack slung over one shoulder. A surge of pure love courses through my heart. A stab of worry steals my breath. I force myself to focus.

The traffic light ahead flashes green to yellow. Intersection’s clear. I push the accelerator to the floor, glance in the rearview mirror. Air from the open window catches Sam’s wisps of hair. He smiles, showing off his first few baby teeth, and reaches a chubby hand at the rays of sunshine streaking by, trying to catch the light.

Thump. Thump. The Jeep jerks to the left. I guide the wheel, hold it steady, and take my foot off the gas. When I pull over and brake, the abrupt stop sends up a dust cloud.

“Uh-oh,” Sam says.

I unbuckle, jump out, and survey the damage. A glance at the tire confirms it. Flat. Dead.
Hands on my hips, I bite my lip.

Tentatively, I grab the jack from the back of the Jeep, the weight of it solid and heavy in my hands. I can fix this. After all, in my former life, as a school counselor at Mobile Prep, I was the problem-solver, crisis manager, and shoulder to cry on. I always handled situations. And I didn’t need help.

Then my eyes fall on Sam as he babbles and blows bubbles in the back seat. I hesitate, gripping the metal between my palms. As the sun beats down on us, heating my skin, my pulse begins to race. Maybe I was fearless because I didn’t know any better. I wasn’t a mom then. I didn’t have two children depending on me. Trusting me to do the right thing, be on time, and not screw up.
