Book Description:

A Perennial Wallflower…

When Mira Fitzhenry's guardian arranges her engagement to one of the most scandalous lords to ever grace the peerage, all of society is abuzz. After all, the man has left a trio of dead young women in his wake, including his first fiancée. But Mira doesn't see a killer in Nicholas's moonlight eyes, and she resolves to find the real murderer before the wedding.

A Gothic Villain…

Expecting to scare the chit away within five minutes of meeting him, scarred and brooding Nicholas, the Viscount Ashfield, is intrigued by Mira's tenacious resolve to prove his innocence. She's not put off by his imposing appearance, but his family's dark secrets mean he cannot let her get close.

As the wedding approaches, Nicholas and Mira grow ever closer, yet so does the danger. Will the truth bring Nicholas and Mira together or tear their love apart?

Excerpt:

You talk too much," he said, his husky growl sending shivers down her spine. "I think we could put that luscious mouth of yours to better use."

And with that, he drew her into a crushing embrace, his mouth coming down to consume hers. This kiss was unlike any they had shared before, more intense, more passionate, and with a subtle edge of desperation to it.

She melted beneath his onslaught, her body leaning into his of its own accord. As his hands twisted in her still-damp curls, she raised her own to his head, her fingers searching through the soft waves of hair and pulling them free of their queue.

When one of his hands drifted down the side of her face, the curve of her neck, to rest on the swell of her breast, Mira uttered a moaning little cry and surged forward, seeking more of his heat. More of his touch. More, more, more.

And when his hand on her breast moved, brushing over the sharp bud of her nipple, with only the fine wet fabric of her dress between his skin and hers, Mira thought she might die. A whirling dizziness overcame her, and she had to fight for breath.

Emboldened by the fire tearing through her, she let her own hands fall to Nicholas's chest, and she explored the hard contours of the muscles beneath his shirt. She had never felt anything like his body, so hard yet gently yielding beneath her fingers. So warm and so alive. With a sudden flash of daring, Mira echoed Nicholas's own caress, brushing her hand across the bulge of his chest, feeling the tight male nipple there.

He sucked air through his teeth and drew back with a sharp laugh. "Oh, Mira-mine," he groaned, "such a clever, clever girl."

He rested his forehead against hers, breathing deeply as his racing heart began to slow beneath her hand.

Mira struggled for composure. She had come here to discuss the murders, not to kiss Nicholas…no matter how delightful the kissing was. But he seemed determined to distract her from her mission. Did he not grasp the gravity of this situation?

Of course he did.

Norelia, Imperial heir and zealous second-in-command of the Endless Army, is cornered by a wager against her father, the Emperor.

The stakes? To marry the winner of the next Summer Games in order to ensure the continuation of the Imperial line. Confident she will win, she is devastated when a mysterious contender named Reoth defeats her and claims not only the title of Champion, but claims Norelia as well. A misplaced note reveals Reoth and her father placed wagers on Reoth's ability to "tame" her, proving it was all a game after all.

When her father is killed in a surprise invasion, the Empire stands on the brink of war and Norelia is thrust into the center of it with Reoth, a man she'd sooner kill than trust. As Reoth admits knowledge regarding who is behind this invasion, can Norelia determine where his true allegiance lies before the Empire, and her heart, are destroyed forever?

Warning: This title is intended for readers over the age of 18 as it contains explicit sex scenes (including BDSM) and/or situations and adult language, and may be considered offensive to some readers.

Excerpt:

"It's a damned pile of steaming horse shit." She trailed off her cursing, muttering to herself.

Beyond the window, streamers of every color fluttered in the salty breeze from the coast. Throngs of people in every shape and color imaginable choked the streets as yet more new arrivals paraded in from ever-further corners of the Empire. Men strutted, blown up with their own bravado, waved to the cheering crowds, catching garlands and little folded paper luck tokens as they passed. Buskers set up at every street corner, shaking their tambourines and cistrums. They played fuddles, pipes, and drums as they sang and laughed. Tumblers and every manner of street performer added to the festival atmosphere.

It was just another influx of fools, for the gods' sake!

"Oh, Noria." Her cousin sighed behind her. "Let them have their fun. The Games come but once a year, and it's a holiday for everyone. Only the most necessary work gets done, and you know the City is awake for nigh a week during."

Norelia gripped the wide windowsill until her knuckles were white. "That's during the festival, you oblivious ass." She growled in frustration. "And that is ten days away! This is his fault."

Of course, by "him" she meant her father, who had sent an Imperial decree announcing their wager as a contest. Men who had never set foot in the capitol before were now flooding its gates. Tents had been erected outside the city walls to house them all, and it seemed the great city of Lomyr had very nearly doubled in size.

Worst of all, instead of the usual banners depicting images of the emperor, the sun god, and the harvest goddess -as was usual during the Summer Games- there were drawings and banners and even murals of her likeness everywhere. Everywhere!

"As if I were some godsdamned prize."

"But you are." Valia laughed. When Norelia whirled on her, reaching for a sword at her hip that was not there, Valia laughed harder, though not with malice. "You are the prize, Noria. Oh, don't you glare at me in that tone of voice," she joked. "You know it's true." When Norelia didn't stop glaring, Valia made a delicate vexed sound and fluttered into a lounging chair across the room. "You're a legend, darling, and the people love you. You bring nation after nation under our banner, and you stand undefeated. You never married, and it's rumored you have never taken a lover-"

"Because I haven't!" She recoiled at the very thought.

"-and now the men of every corner of the Empire have the opportunity to claim the strongest and most legendary woman in history."

Norelia scowled at the sacrilege. To claim she was more notable than the great and few Empresses of Lomyr was a gross overstatement.

"Let them have their ten days dreaming of glory, Noria. You will defeat the greatest of them. You always do." She laughed again. "And even if by the grace of the gods you do not, is it really so bad?" She got a disgusting twinkle in her eye. "Marriage has so many perks, after all."

Norelia grabbed fistfuls of the silk skirts she'd been stuffed into earlier by the servants her father had sent. Soft, bejeweled slippers hugged her feet and made her slip on the polished marble, and her hair was piled on her head in silly coils and tiny braids. It felt strange with her neck bared, no crest from her helmet trailing down her back.

No weapons, her father had ordered, and the Imperial Guards were instructed to check her periodically to make sure she wore no weapon in the palace. She felt naked. "I have only to think of my soldiers and their camp followers rutting in the dirt at night, whores hopping from man to man with sticky thighs and fistfuls of copper coins." She had to suppress a shudder. "It's disgusting, and messy, and the noises..." She swallowed against the need to gag.

Valia giggled and clapped her hands. "That's the best part, dear! Oh, the noises!" She somehow managed to invest the word with a quality that made it seem delicious. It was the way Norelia would talk about a good steak dinner after claiming a battlefield.

She shook her head. "Nothing's better than a hot bath and a good, fresh steak after sticking the opposing army's general's head on a pike."

Valia just winked at her. "Well, it's not steak, but it's still a fine cut of meat."

Norelia grimaced. "You're disgusting." She squeezed her eyes shut and grit her teeth. Gods. She had to win!

For as long as she can remember, Delena Silverfox has always loved writing more than anything. When she was three she taught herself how to read with alphabet magnets and her trusty Speak n' Spell, but it was when she realized she could use those same words to share what was in her imagination that the magic took hold.

She pursued an English/Creative Writing degree in college, but after seeing so many friends lose their passion in school, she changed her major to Psychology and pursued writing on her own. At 21, she moved to Portland, OR where she spent the next eleven years, and considers that the city where she truly "grew up," as it influenced so much of who she is today as a person and an author.

She discovered an affinity for erotic romance after getting to know the underground BDSM community and trying her hand at adding a few elements into her romance writing. What she encountered was, to her, overwhelming encouragement to seek publication. Without that support, she would still be writing serial installments on BDSM forums.

Delena lives in Indianapolis, IN with her daughter, husband, and a klutzy cat named Pícaro. When she's not writing, she's working on finishing up her Psych degree, cooking, making crafts with her daughter, or sewing and crocheting.

Reviews:

Gaele @ The Jeep Diva:
"…With several steamy to downright scorching scenes, clever dialogue, humor and the potential for a happy ever after, this was a really fun and clever read. Dex has created a new sexual demon, and made them lovable, if not a bit outrageous in their attitudes and thinking. The desires and emotions of the characters were easy to relate to as the characters were well-defined and voiced, a nice addition to this novella."

Anna @ Book Lovin' Mamas:
"…The chemistry between Araya and Kean was smokin' hot and they were great individual characters too. And I LOVE the sister and Mom. They were quite entertaining! … Overall this was a great read! Lots of fun and very very sexy! I can't wait to read something else from this author and I will be impatiently waiting for more! ;)"

Diana @ Offbeat Vagabond
"…Goodness gracious, this book should come with a warning. I swear even my ereader was heating up while reading this and it wasn't even plugged in. I enjoyed the hell out of this. I think if you are like me and you are a fan of Larissa Ione's books, you will love this. This was a super sexy read that will heat you up from head to toe."

Excerpt:

Kean's body ached in ways he'd never experienced-a burning, piercing agony. A groan escaped his lips as a cooling sensation comforted his neck, then his brow. He struggled to remember what he'd done to make himself feel so horrible. Had he pulled a massive drunk and this was the worst hangover of his life?

"Are you awake?" a small, feminine voice asked.

Wait. Had he brought a female home with him? No. He didn't bring females to his home. He went to theirs so he could get out when he wanted. He must be hung over at his latest conquest's home. Why couldn't he remember anything? He struggled to open his eyes. Damn things felt glued together.

He growled as soon as his eyes focused on the frail female bent over him and the memories flooded back to him. What the hell had happened? What had the demon done to him? And wait, why was she wiping him down with a damp cloth?

"What'd you do to me?" he croaked.

Her eyes widened. "Nothing," she said in a small voice, the weakness in it unmistakable.

"Bullshit." He tried to sit up but his head pounded and spun so he stayed down.

"You'll feel better soon. Just don't try to hurt me again." She stood on shaky legs and ambled to the bed where she selected a pillow and brought it back to where he lay. She wore nothing but a short green satin robe. She helped him lift his head enough to slide the pillow under and then placed the damp cloth across his forehead.

The small effort she'd made seemed to have exhausted her. She sat on the floor a couple feet from him, knees pulled to her chest, her chin resting on her knees and her breathing strained. He could snap her in half with two fingers.

"What's your name?" she asked him.

He ignored her question. "Shouldn't you be scared right now?"

Her lips lifted at the corners. "Scared of what? A helpless, naked man laid out on my floor?"

Oh yeah. He forgot he was naked. Hell, she could at least look a little embarrassed. But helpless? Him? Hell no. His male pride forced him to stand even though every muscle in his body screamed in protest, and his head felt as if an ice pick was being shoved into his gray matter. He swayed on his feet, but damn it he'd stay standing if it killed him. "Kean." He answered her earlier question through gritted teeth.

She clucked her tongue as she stood. To his satisfaction, she also swayed, although he didn't know why.

"I'm Araya. Why don't you have a seat before you fall?" she suggested. "I think I'll do the same." She moved to the bed and lay on her side facing him.

He chose the chair closest to him, not because it looked most comfortable, but because he felt he would collapse at any second.

Again he asked, "What did you do to me?"

She sighed. "It's the collar. As long as you don't try to harm me or my family, you won't experience that pain again." She frowned. "You're stronger than the others. They were out for at least an hour. You were only out for fifteen minutes."

Others? How many others had Talith brought here? And why? The girl was not a goddess like Talith, but she wasn't so unattractive that no man would submit to her without being abducted and collared. And her eyes… The golden color mesmerized him. He would fuck her if the circumstances of their meeting were different. He should have known mother Sempire wouldn't leave him alone with her daughter totally unprotected.

"What's wrong with you?" He didn't give a shit, but he needed to gather all the information he could.

She grimaced. "It doesn't matter."

"It matters to me. I'm the one who was abducted, shackled and locked in this room with you."

"I'm sorry about that," she said. The sincerity in her voice surprised him. "My mother is determined to help me."

"And my semen will help you?"

Finally, she blushed.

Hyde
Dark Musicals Book #3

Rebecca Hope has looked death in the face twice and lived to tell her tale.

She and the love of her life, Justyn Patko, land a summer internship at a local dinner theater, performing the musical Hyde. While they are excited about their first paid acting gig, they soon find themselves surrounded by more experienced cast mates, jealous of their success. As if the tension isn't bad enough, they soon discover that the business might be a front for something much more sinister.

When Justyn is accused of a crime that she knows he would never commit, Rebecca must decide if she wants to follow her head or her heart. While trying to prove his innocence, she makes a shocking discovery of her own.

Everyone has something to conceal in the grand finale of the Dark Musicals Trilogy. Rebecca has to look beyond the façade to discover the true Hyde or face her final curtain call.

Excerpt:

The act ended with Hyde grabbing hold of a scantily dressed Lucy and pulling her into his arms. Then the lights on the stage were extinguished, and the silent crowd suddenly burst into thunderous applause-even some of the cast was clapping. Rebecca couldn't help but notice Steve was watching the fanfare with a frown, especially when Fernando, dressed for the next scene as the butler, clapped Justyn on the back with undisguised approval and pride. Rebecca had the distinct feeling Steve was plotting something sinister and definitely Hyde-worthy.

From that point on, Justyn scarcely had a moment out of the spotlight. Rebecca didn't even get a chance to tell him how fabulous he was. It felt as though the show had only begun when Rebecca found herself decked out in the splendid Victorian wedding gown signaling the final act was about to begin. The dress came complete with realistic bell sleeves, an excessive bustle, and a long, flowing trail embroidered with delicate lace. The elaborate wardrobes and happy wedding guests gave the audience the illusion that it might be a happy ending after all, but for Dr. Jekyll and Emma, that wasn't meant to be. As soon as the reverend began to recite the vows, Hyde made his final deadly appearance.

At the beginning of the scene, it was sweet and romantic. Justyn started out holding her hand, looking happy, almost ecstatic to be with his true love. Then he suddenly started to sway. Tom, in his role of John, the best man, tried to steady him, but there wasn't anything he could do to stop the transformation. Dr. Jekyll doubles over in agony and tries to run before Emma can see him change into a monster. Justyn was supposed to head toward the back of the stage where Rebecca would pursue him and eventually become Hyde's captive. But they should have known no opening night could ever go exactly as planned, especially when it was obvious at least half the cast was out to get them.

Just as Justyn stumbled across the stage, Steve, who was blending in with the other guests on the sidelines, stuck out his foot. It was doubtful anyone else observed the sabotage, aside from Petya, who was smirking at her husband's side. But Rebecca was at the perfect vantage point to see the intentional attack. Unfortunately, Justyn was so wrapped up in the role he didn't notice the danger, especially since his loose hair was dangling in front of his eyes. Before Rebecca could cry out a warning, Justyn's foot was caught in the snare. With a grunt, he tumbled off the side of the stage. Even over the background music and the gasps from the audience, Rebecca heard the loud thump as he hit the ground. She raised her hands to her mouth and couldn't help but scream.

Blurb:

The "Phantom" was a musical phenomenon that Rebecca had always found enchanting. She had no idea that her life was about to mirror the play that was her obsession. When her high school drama club chooses "Phantom" as their annual production, Rebecca finds herself in the middle of an unlikely love triangle and the target of a sadistic stalker who uses the lines from the play as their calling card.

Rebecca lands the lead role of Christine, the opera diva, and like her character, she is torn between her two co-stars-Tom the surfer and basketball star who plays the lovable hero, and Justyn, the strangely appealing Goth who is more than realistic in the role of the tortured artist.

Almost immediately after casting, strange things start to happen both on and off the stage. Curtains fall. Mirrors are shattered. People are hurt in true phantom style. They all seem like accidents until Rebecca receives notes and phone calls that hint at something more sinister. Is Justyn bringing to life the twisted character of the phantom? Or in real life are the roles of the hero and the villain reversed? Rebecca doesn't know who to trust, but she knows she's running out of time as she gets closer and closer to opening night. Only when the mask is stripped away, will the twenty first century phantom finally be revealed.

When Justyn and Rebecca set off for the New York School of Performing Arts, they think their dreams are about to come true. To their dismay, they aren't in high school anymore, and the competition is steep. Rebecca must compete against accomplished singers for a role in the production of Demon Barber, including a stunning Gothic diva with her sights set on Justyn.

It doesn't help that things keep disappearing from their apartment or that Rebecca's father refuses to accept that Justyn is an essential part of her life. Yet, all this seems minimal in comparison to the serial rapist terrorizing the campus.

Consumed by fear and obsessed with revenge, Rebecca and Justyn start living the story of Sweeney Todd-both on and off the stage.

Guest Post:
On The Way to Cape May

In Demon, I had my characters stop by to visit my home town of Wildwood. In Hyde, most of the story is set in another little town in South Jersey that is close to my heart, Victorian Cape May. Today I thought I'd take the time to show you some of the sights of Cape May, many of which helped to set the scene for the final book in the Dark Musicals Trilogy. But before we go sightseeing, enjoy this classic song, On the Way to Cape May.

As soon as you enter the streets of Cape May, it's like stepping back in time. The streets are lined with beautiful homes, painted in pastels and lined with gingerbread trim. These homes have stood the test of time, many standing over a century or more despite being battered by hurricanes and tropical storms including Super Storm Sandy. Here are a few of my favorite houses.

Cape May House 1 photo CapeMayHouse1.jpg

Cape May House 2 photo CapeMayHouse2.jpg

These horse and buggies might be pretty to look out, but as the gang in Hyde discover, it's no fun getting stuck behind one of the road.

Horse and Buggy photo horseampbuggy.jpg

This is the parking lot in Cape May where Justyn has to leave his Mustang in Hyde. With limited parking space in the city, most of the local businesses pay for passes for their employees to park here. See that brown building in the background? That's the insurance agency where I worked for ten years. My husband used to park in the city lot next store to my office when he was a chef in Cape May. Our cars were parked nose to nose for years, but with different schedules we never met until we tried internet dating. Behind the parking lot and my old office are some lovely marshes that are a great place to dump bodies.

Parking Lot 2 photo ParkingLot2.jpg

In Hyde, Justyn and Becca get a job at a dinner theater in Cape May. In the story, the name of the establishment is Tamilio's, named after my step-father Fernando who is their boss. The description of the theater is a combination of these two buildings--a real dinner theater in Cape May called Elaine's and a bed & breakfast called the Sea Mist that Fernando used to own. As mentioned in the story, both these buildings, and many of the Victorian structures in Cape May, are believed to be haunted.

There are lots of other fun stops in Cape May. If you ever visit the Jersey Shore, be sure to stop by and visit, just watch out for the ghosts. To learn more about the town, be sure to pick up your copy of Hyde today.
