Unforgiving
Alisic Adnan
Publication date: January 2017
Genres: Contemporary, Young Adult

12 years after surviving horrific massacre, 15-year- old Meho commits ruthless murders and sets in motion the event which could change the world order.

The murders are followed by the trial of the century, where media vilifies Meho as a psychopath, mass murderer, and a monster — all under the influence of FBI, who are trying to conceal the identity of the victims and protect the National Security.

The only person who believes that Meho is innocent is his 10-year-old brother Bucky, who will turn heavens and earth to free Meho. After learning the truth, Bucky is devastated, but not all things are as they seem, and the truth will be revealed at the very end.

Guest Post:
Do the characters all come to you at the same time or do some of them come to you as you write?
They definitely get developed as I write. One perfect example would be Yogi(the wolf in book 2). In the beginning he was just an animal, but as I was writing, his character started to develop, so first he started talking, then cracking jokes, then being a wise ass. I gave him most of the human characteristics and with time he even became wiser and smarter.
Another example would be Bucky. Originally he was a rich, privileged kid, but with my rewriting, he developed into  a tiny, smart motor-mouth who believes he can do anything. He lives in his own world, the world where good guys always win, and if you're his friend, he'll do anything for you. He'll lie for you, cheat for you, steal for you, and he'll always find a rational justification when he steps over the line of morality. That definitely wasn't how I first envisioned him.
Bucky was also full of contradictions; he was a genius, yet in some cases naïve; he was fearless of bullies, yet he was afraid of vampires or werewolves; he was expert in many things, in some others totally clueless.
So characters will definitely take their own shape and grow as the story grows. Any other way would be a recipe for a cardboard character.

New Release: Romancing the Holidays, a Christmas Anthology + Review: Lost in Christmas by Cherie Marks @CherieMarks

Hello and Welcome to the Release of Romancing the Holidays an Anthology with 7 Enchanting Christmas Reads!

Featuring Cherie Marks with a review of her novel Lost in Christmas!

Lost in Christmas
by Cherie Marks
Publishes: November 25, 2016
Publisher: IndieWrites, Inc.
Genre: Romance, Holidays

Blurb:

Can you lose your heart on the way to finding yourself? Or, more specifically, finding your grandmother? It’s Christmastime, and Sunny Willis, New Falls’ resident librarian and soon-to-be doctoral expert on classical, nude art, can’t locate the woman who practically raised her. Her only hope is the deputy whose very presence makes her heart pound. Can she focus enough to avoid dilapidated police cars, flirty tow-truck drivers, and nosy townspeople so that she can be reunited with her nana?

Bennett Jamison is a fresh addition to the New Falls’ Sheriff’s Office, and he’s got a lot to prove as the newest deputy. When a missing person case arises, he wants to do everything by the book, and hopefully, impress his boss, Sheriff Quentin Taylor. Unfortunately, the girl he’s never stopped crushing on compromises his investigation and causes his thoughts to turn romantic. He needs to get over her and do his job. If she’d just stop being so damn sexy.

In New Falls, Tennessee, people and belongings go missing on a regular basis, but they usually resurface, and everything takes a turn toward love. Can Bennett and Sunny navigate their growing affections and find those who are missing before they get Lost in Christmas?

Excerpt:

He’d lost his ever-loving mind.  The last thing he needed to be doing right now was screwing up this investigation, and yet, he’d let a curvy bit of a librarian distract him enough to allow possible contamination of a crime scene, to lose his cruiser over the side of a hill, and, above all, to kiss her until he couldn’t think straight.

My Review of Lost in Christmas by Cherie Marks

In New Falls, Tennessee the people are having a rough day especially the people at the police department. People are turning up missing and break-ins are occurring.

Its Sheriff Quentin Taylor’s day off but with so few deputies in a small town like New Falls your off day does not always belong to you. With so many calls coming in the Sheriff is called in to investigate a break-in and his wife Kate decides to tag along.

Kate and the Sheriff have a pretty interesting day after all. They have some good times among themselves in between their little investigating and get themselves in a little bit of trouble.

While the Sheriff is doing his own investigating Deputy Bennett Jamison is on a missing persons case and just happens to run into a high school classmate that he has had a crush on ever since.

Sunny Wilson’s Nana just happens to be one of the missing. So Sunny and Deputy Bennet decide to team up while investigating the disappearance of her Nana. Can the Deputy and the Sheriff concentrate on their cases long enough to solve them? Or will the two women keep them too distracted?

Lost in Christmas has been one interesting trip. I have loved spending the day with the folks in New Falls. I felt as if I had been pulled into their little world and they made me feel as if that is where I belong. They made me feel all worm and cozy. They made me feel as if we were all one big family.

If you are looking for a good book to curl up by the fire with at Christmas time then Lost in Christmas is just the book you are looking for with all the feel good feelings it leaves behind. Christmas is just around the corner too. Pick up a copy for yourself as well as a copy for a friend as a Christmas present. Lost in Christmas is 1 of 7 Enchanting Christmas Reads in the Romancing the Holidays boxset.

Dance Me A Dream: Kait Nolan
Jace Applewhite is home for the holidays, helping out on his family's Christmas tree farm and enjoying some much needed downtime between semesters of grad school.  He's intrigued by the sexy and serious barista from The Daily Grind, but she's got a Hand's Off vibe that can be seen from miles away.

Tara Honeycutt missed most of her college years being single parent to her two younger half siblings.  Working multiple jobs, she's forgotten what it's like to be a normal twenty-something.  All her focus is on giving the kids some new holiday memories.

When a major gas line breaks, leaving them with no heat, no hot water, and no way to cook for Christmas. Jace invites Tara and her sibs out to Applewhite Farms.  Will a good old fashioned farmhouse Christmas be enough to get Tara to give him a second glance?

Hollywood Snowfall: Heather Myers
It's getting cold in Hollywood, so cold, there's a good chance the City of Angels will finally get snow.

Erin Sanders is content with her life. Going to community college and working part-time at the Chinese Mann Theatre fills up the majority of her time, leaving love on the back burner. She isn't expecting her life to change solely because of one movie-goer. But when that movie-goer is movie star and Erin's favorite actor, miracles can happen.

Johnny Barker just wants to see a movie he doesn't star in. He's tired of being stared at, hit on, and ogled by the general public, and if he gets one more question about his love life, he's going to lose it. When the ticket taker at the theatre treats him like a normal person - despite the flattering blush on her face when she recognizes him - he can't help but do a double take.

With the temperatures dropping and snow on the horizon, Erin and Johnny are captivated by each other enough to do the unthinkable: fall in love under the Hollywood snowfall.

A Magical Christmas in Jerusalem: Joanne Dannon
When falling in love isn’t as easy as falling in love.

Australian project manager Kiara Lonsdale is career focussed and determined to provide and care for the grandmother who raised her. Taking time off work to vacation has never been high on her agenda, but this year she’s made an exception. She’s helping her gran fulfil a life-long dream by accompanying her on a Christmas to the Holy Land tour.

Jacques Lenoir and his extended family run tours in Israel and he’s committed to their business. Jacques feels responsible for his grandparents’ welfare since they risked their lives, and others’, as operatives in the French Resistance, during the War.

But over romantic dinners in the desert, camel rides, and mud baths at the Dead Sea, sparks fly between Kiara and Jacques. Will this only be a holiday romance or will a touch of Christmas magic make it last a lifetime?

Serendipity – A Christmas Fairy Tale: Jolene Cazzola
Lauren Watson was the girl who had everything — at least that’s the way the outside world saw her… beautiful, smart, independent. She had a great job, owned her own penthouse condo, had tons of friends and there was no shortage of great-looking guys around to date.

What she hid from the world (and herself) most of the time, was how much she wanted a “special man” in her life. Raised by a single mother, she was beginning to think she’d never find the right person. Every year since she was in college, she had asked Santa to bring her a boyfriend for Christmas, but Santa had stopped listening to her requests a long time ago. And this year, even her best girl friend had disserted her for the holidays.

But sometimes, fate steps in to give Santa a little help as Lauren finds out in Serendipity – A Christmas Fairy Tale. A sexy, sensual novella that will make you believe again!

Home For Christmas Mel Hammond
When Saskia McKinlay returns to the town she was born it’s to keep a promise to her best friend, nothing more. She doesn’t care about the man who fathered her, then walked away, and with any luck she will be home in her Melbourne apartment before her mother realizes she’s gone. But returning to the outback stirs up memories Sass hadn’t realised existed, and with the memories comes questions. Was her past as neat as her mother would have her think it was or is there more to the story of the man who bore the name father in title only? One thing is for sure; Sass can’t leave again without asking him - if she can find him. Has her father walked out of her life a second time?

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

It all started with an old fashioned typewriter. When my family brought it home, I knew what I wanted to do. All those stories rolling around in my head could finally get out. The press and click of the keys were satisfying in their own right, but when I pulled out a finished page, I knew this was for me. Since then, I’ve graduated to a laptop, but the stories still find a way out.

I’m a breast cancer survivor, a teacher, a wife, a mother, and from the very beginning—a storyteller. Always a hint humorous and honest to a fault, I love to make people laugh, smile, and have “a-ha” moments. My goal in life is to achieve tact and stop procrastinating. The battle wages on.

TY
It was no secret that I was a man whore and enjoyed my fair share of women. Several had tried to pin me down over the years, but no way was the noose of matrimony slipping around my neck. I was a fuck ‘em and leave ‘em kind of guy, and I liked my life just the way it was. Badge bunnies fell into my bed in droves, even the ones who liked to play innocent, but there was one type of woman I’d always avoided – virgins. Which makes things a little awkward when hot little Josie Wright, the reverend’s daughter, makes me harder than I’ve ever been before. Just one look at those slender legs and perky tits, and all I can think about is being balls deep inside of her, but good girls like Josie don’t hang out with bad boys like me.

JOSIE
I’ve always had the perfect life – loving parents and a stable home life. Until now. When my father told me I was to marry Reverend Falks, a man thirty years my senior, in exchange for our church getting a new roof, I knew he had to be kidding. The good reverend has told me in no uncertain terms that he plans to keep me barefoot and pregnant, along with some other details that make my stomach queasy. I’ll do anything to avoid my fate, even if it means falling into Officer Daniels’ bed. Except, once I’m there, I don’t want to leave. He makes me feel things I’ve never experienced before, and for the first time in my life, I’m realizing that maybe it’s good to be a little bad.

WARNING: This story contains one dirty talking hunky police officer, a sweet and innocent reverend’s daughter, and LOTS of steamy sex. Being bad has never been so good.

EXCERPT:

“I’ll drop you by your parents’ home, and you can arrange to get your car later.”
“I don’t want to go there.”
I stopped at a four-way intersection and looked at her. “Then where do you want to go?”
“Can we just drive around for a bit?”
Holy hell. She was trying to kill me. Or get me fired, because I was pretty sure the police chief wouldn’t be too pleased to find me balls deep inside Josie Wright on the side of the road, and if she stayed in this car much longer, that was what would happen.
“Josie, I don’t think that’s a good idea.”
She blinked at me innocently before her gaze dropped to my lap, and my very hard cock. Her eyes dilated and her lips parted. The way she licked her lips was enough to make my dick jerk, and I knew I had to get her out of the car and away from me as fast as possible. Either that or I was going to be very, very bad.
“Josie.” My tone came out strangled as she continued to stare.
Her cheeks flushed, and her eyes cut toward the window. I could tell she was intrigued, yet her innocence kept her from saying what was on her mind. And hell if that didn’t just turn me on even more. I’d been with more women than I could count, but damn if she didn’t make me harder than I’d ever been before. But Josie wasn’t a “right now” kind of woman. She was the forever kind. I might have been thirty-two, but I wasn’t ready for the picket fence, golden retriever in the yard, and two point five kids just yet. No, whoever plucked her cherry was going to be a lucky bastard, but I’d be willing to bet it would be her husband.

Genres: Dystopian, Young Adult

Too pretty.
Too smart.
Too perfect.

In a crumbling, futuristic Las Vegas where the wealthy choose the characteristics of their children like ordering off a drive-thru menu, seventeen-year-old Sienna Preston doesn’t fit in. As a normal girl surrounded by genetically modified teenagers, all of her imperfections are on display. But after the death of her father, everything she’s ever known and loved changes in an instant.

With little skills to help provide for her family, Sienna clings to the two things that come easily—lying and stealing. But not all thief-for-hire assignments go as planned. When a covert exchange of a stolen computer chip is intercepted, she becomes entangled with a corrupt government official who uses her thieving past as leverage, her mother as collateral, and the genetically modified poster boy she’s falling for as bait.

In order to rescue her mother, there may only be one option—joining forces with the Fringe, an extremist group, and their young leader who’s too hot to be bad. Problem is, these revolutionaries aren’t what they seem, and the secrets they’re hiding could be more dangerous than Sienna is prepared for. In the end, she must be willing to risk everything to save the one thing that matters most.

Catalyst is a thrilling adventure of danger, romance, intrigue, and deception.

EXCERPT:

“You need to learn a little hand-to-hand combat.” Trey puts his fists up by his face. “Always protect your soft spots—your face being numero uno.” He glances at my bandaged arm. “You right-handed?”
It’s after breakfast and we’re in the training facility, a large, gym-type room with thick mats, punching bags, weights, and a long wall of mirrors. The smell of sweat and stinky feet assault my nose as I stand across from him on the pile of black mats used to create a “ring”. We have the gym to ourselves. Most likely because everyone else is too smart to work out right after a meal.
I nod and flex my right hand, the one that’s not bandaged.
“You should be fine, then. I’ll take it easy on you.” He grins. “Go ahead—hit me.”
I take a step back and shake my head. “I’m not gonna hit you.”
He moves forward to decrease the distance between us. “I said, hit me.”
I raise my arms as if I’m about to fight him, but all I can think is how much he’s done to help me. How can I punch the man who saved me from the government facility, removed my tracker, and is willing to help rescue my mother?
When he realizes I won’t fight, he lowers his hands. “Remember, Sienna, these men don’t care that you’re a girl. They don’t care how old you are. If given the opportunity, they will hurt you.” His eyes harden. “Now hit me.”
I punch him as hard as I can, and he’s not expecting it. The force of the blow to his face knocks him backward, and my hand throbs from the impact. He looks stunned, especially when a trickle of blood makes its way out of his nose. But then he grins.
Wiping his nose on his shirt, he motions with his hands for me to come closer. “Nicely done. Now, hit me again.”
Surely, he must be crazy. I’m about to walk away, but his words echo in my mind. If given the opportunity, they will hurt you. I can’t give them that opportunity.
