SYNOPSIS

Which would be worse, knowing that your dead sister has come back to life and is now a serial killer or that someone else is the killer….and that person is you?

Six months after Linda's sister Elizabeth killed herself, Linda has finally gotten her life back to some semblance of normalcy. Until a killer appears who is stalking men ... a killer who resembles Elizabeth ... a killer who seems somehow familiar to Linda.

And, to make matters worse, Steve, her old high school crush and now a detective, is assigned to this case. He's asking Linda all sorts of questions, questions Linda couldn't possibly have an answer to.

There's no reason for him to be investigating Linda. She couldn't possibly have anything to do with this. Could she?

 Praise for the Series:

"I did not see that ending coming! Gracie is not what I expected either...she doesn't fit the mold of what you think an "angel-in-training" is supposed to be like, and it will be fun to see her continue to learn and change. I love her mentor, Gertrude! It is a fun, clean romance that keeps you interested and entertained. Eagerly anticipating the next one in the series!” by Verified Amazon Customer

"Love this series! Nash's desire to save his father's ranch touched me. And it helped he's hot and swoon worthy! And Gracie's love story with the 'bad boy' makes it even more interesting! Love this!

Don't miss it!” Always Reading

Excerpt From Heart of the Billionaire (Book 2 in The Almost an Angel Series)

Stewart Matthews sat poised on the edge of his seat, his body taut—his face wearing the laser-beam focus of a General preparing for battle. In many ways, he was fighting the greatest battle of his life, for it involved the heart of the one he loved the most.

He could only see one way to help Brooke, but she wouldn’t like it. In fact, she would be so angry that she might never speak to him again. That was the price he would have to pay for attempting to save her. Better to be a parent than a friend. Even though he dreaded what was to come, he knew there was no other option. His money had been the thing that sent Brooke down her path of self-destruction. He could only hope that it would also be the catalyst that would save her A feeling of resignation settled over him as he looked down at the blank page. Then he picked up the pen and began to write …

My Darling Brooke,

From the moment you were born and I held you in my arms, I knew that my life would never again be the same. Never before had I experienced such pure and complete love. And that love has only grown and multiplied over the years. You are my heart, my primary responsibility, and I will take any measures necessary to protect you, even if that means protecting you from yourself. Sweetheart, my only desire is that you find joy and contentment—the kind that can only come from within. You need to learn to love unconditionally and to love someone so completely that you are willing to put his needs before your own. Please know that I have spent many a night, walking the floors, trying to determine the best course of action to set you back on the right path.

A way has been opened up, and I intend to take full advantage of it. My only hope is that you will one day find it in your heart to forgive me, for what I’m about to do.

A knock sounded. He looked up as his assistant stuck her head in the door. “I’m sorry to disturb you, but the attorney is here and waiting in the conference room.

It’s time.”

The moment of truth was here. Once he signed the documents, there would be no going back. He blew out a breath, a rigid look of determination on his lined face.

“Tell them I’ll be there in five minutes.”

Virtual Book Tour + #Giveaway: Take Me to the Willow by Shelly Brimley @GoddessFish

Take Me to the Willow
by Shelly Brimley
GENRE: Historical Fiction

BLURB:

In defending his life-long friendship with Charlie, Will may have inadvertently had a hand in the growing chaos that leads to the horrifying night when his familiar world is shattered.

When Will Wright, the eighteen year old son of a small-town Arkansas sheep herder in 1905, begins reading his mother’s journal, he is inspired by its startling content to start putting his own experiences to paper for posterity. An unsophisticated but principled young man, Will is becoming increasingly aware of the hatred that exists in the world. When he begins his own journal, Will can’t know what events are to take place in the next five years – from his mother’s battle with a life threatening illness, to his embarrassments of learning how to be in love for the first time, to witnessing Charlie’s fate at the hands of the bigoted townspeople. While part of him wishes the pain in those pages didn’t exist, he knows that the original purpose for keeping the journal has been realized - to show his kin how he became the man he is. He will probably never go back through and read again the pages he’s written, but someday, someone will, and they will see that along with the hurt, Will’s life had been one that knew true joy, absolute love, and undying friendship.

EXCERPT:

"Stop playin’ games, Maryanne!" I shouted.

Maryanne startled, and she got a real serious look on her face. A few people inside must have heard me yell, and watched us through the window for a minute or two.

"So you called me out here to yell at me?" Maryanne said with a face as pouty as an old dried up raisin. "I never took you for such a bully, Will!"

"You are unbelievable!" I shouted. "You trick me into bringin’ Hannah here by tellin’ me that you’ve got good intentions—then you send me away so you can tell her lies about me. And for what? What did you think was gonna happen, Maryanne?—that Hannah would leave me because of it, and I’d come runnin’ to you? Well let me tell you that you are…"

"I’m what?" yelled Maryanne.

I paused and took a deep breath. I played out the conversation in my mind the way my anger was wantin’ it to go, and I… I decided against it. I remembered Hannah tellin’ me not to be mean. 'Don’t be mean,' I told myself. Just say what needs to be said and don’t be mean. So I held my tongue; didn’t know I had that in me.

Finally gettin' myself under control, I said calmly, "You know what, Maryanne? Hannah’s right. It isn’t worth it."

Maryanne took to cryin’, and I think I actually saw real tears for once. I turned and started to leave.

"Will, I love you," she said imploringly.

I stopped and looked at her with a new kind of sadness… maybe even pity.

"You don’t love me, Maryanne," I said. "You just want me because I’m the only one who doesn’t want you."

AUTHOR INTERVIEW:

What is the sweetest thing someone has done for you?

Okay, there is absolutely no way to narrow it down to one thing. My parents hired a housekeeper to clean my house for me when I was 9 months pregnant with my son. That was amazing! I’ve had siblings pay random bills, a close friend who painted my toes for me, again while very pregnant, and my husband, who without me asking him to, routinely brings a fan into the bathroom in the summertime while I’m drying my hair because it’s so hot. I’m the recipient of so much sweetness!

How would you spend ten thousand bucks?

Well, if I had to spend it, I’d give my husband a gift card to the nursery so he could build his dream garden, take my family on a volunteer work trip/ vacation, go on a cruise with my siblings, and/ or do a bunch of house projects. Brian and I both love projects! Another option would be just to buy a ton of airline miles and see family and friends A LOT!

Where do you get your best ideas?

I would have to say that I get my best ideas from having seen and felt what tragedy does to people. Watching people’s different reactions to life’s struggles has given me a lot to think about and a lot of perspective for my own life and how I handle tough things.

What comes first, the plot or characters?

In Take Me to the Willow, my characters came first. As my characters developed, the plot started to take shape. I’m not sure it would work this way every time, but it did in this case.

Book Blast + #Giveaway: Stare Him Down by Riley Murphy @Riley__Murphy @GoddessFish

Stare Him Down
by Riley Murphy
GENRE: Contemporary Erotic Romance

BLURB:

This Dom’s life is turned upside down when he agrees to enter into a modern-day marriage of convenience with a woman who’s sassy and vanilla.

Only problem?

She’s not vanilla. And the side of sassy she comes with is sure to get them both into trouble when he finds out.

EXCERPT:

“Before I go anywhere I thought we’d play a game.”

“Aren’t you tired?” He didn’t look up. He just stared with unseeing eyes at one of the numerous envelopes in his hand.

“No. I’d call this game Truth or Dare, but all I have is the magic lasso so we’ll call this a game of honesty to the bone. Has a nice ring to it, doesn’t it?”

Triple goddamn fuck. Only his eyes moved as he looked at her across the table. “A game? Why?”

“It will be fun.” He knew for sure it wouldn’t. “I lasso you first.” She made a big show of tying a loop, and when she looked as if she might actually try to throw it over him, he reached forward and grabbed the coiled end out of her hands.

“I wouldn’t want you to hurt yourself.”

She gave him one of her infamous Da Vinci muse’s smiles, and said, “You have to play by the rules.”

Yes, and if the nasty devil on his shoulder stayed out of this, he would. He ran his finger over the cord that was surprisingly soft, and inclined his head. “I’m listening.”

“You have to answer the question I ask you with total, and I mean absolute truth, so help you God.”

He tried not to grin, but she was so serious he couldn’t help teasing her. “Okay, should we pinkie swear on it?”

She tugged on the end of the cord she held, forcing him to keep a firmer grip. “Listen, if you don’t answer truthfully then there’s no point to any of this.”

Interesting. Did she even realize she’d just admitted she had an agenda so this wasn’t a game per se? “Agreed. The same goes for you when I get my turn, right?”

“Sure.” This quick reply told him she wasn’t thinking about the end game, only the beginning. “I’m ready, are you?” He barely had the chance to nod when she blurted out, “Did you have thoughts today about having sex with me?”

Alrighty. To his mind there were a couple of things here that he needed to pay attention to. Some more obvious than others. First, her conviction. It was clear to him that she’d been planning to hijack him like this for quite some time. Second, she’d be a lousy bridge player because she didn’t have a strategic plan in mind. And third, just like the night in his hotel room a few years ago, she had not one drop of patience. Even now, she seemed barely able to contain herself, waiting for his answer.

And what did that mean?

He had to make his answer count. Better than that. It had to be epic. All-encompassing. Screw it. His answer was going to blow her mind.

A few of Riley’s favorite reviewer quotes:

If you love intellectual mind candy, read Ms. Murphy’s work!

Creative, profound and soul searing scenes abound...

One wonders if Ms. Riley is in the sex therapy and marriage counseling business as a day job. The D/s part of this story is Fabulous.

If Riley wasn’t an author she’d be an international spy with top-level security so she could have a peek at Area 51 and decide for herself if those green guys are for real. Failing that, she’d likely go with chicken sexer.
