Interview with Aoife Marie Sheridan

How did you get started in writing?

I had read somewhere a statement that had me putting pen to paper. Being an avid reader I could never get enough, so when I read this statement “If there is a book you always wanted to read but couldn’t find it, then write it” and so I did. I started in 2012 writing my first book titled Eden Forest and since then I haven’t stopped. In total I have released five books and have two more written, and loads started. 

Who is your favorite character?

At the present moment Abigail Thornton from The Demon Series. She’s a teenage Alcoholic who hunts demons and has a horrible background, so she’s intense and tough to write which I enjoy.

Who is your favorite author?

I have several Maria V.Snyder, Kelly Armstrong, Charlaine Harris, Julie Kagawa, Dan brown, Suzanne Collins, really I could go on all day. Just so many.

Where do you usually write?

In my study, it was one of the first rooms we did up when we built our home. It was something I had dreamed of and feel very lucky to have such a beautiful space to write in.

Do you listen to music while writing? If so what?

I do have different play lists for different stories, but I will only play at an emotional scene, or a kickass scene basically wherever the emotion is high. But normally I wouldn't play music.

What books have most influenced your life?

Poison study it’s what got me hocked on fantasy books.

What are you passionate about these days?

My baby girl firstly :) Writing, reading, photography and also love watching Paranormal, dusk till dawn, the walking dead, the big bang theory and Games of Throne.

About the Author:

Aoife Marie Sheridan has loved reading from a very young age, starting off with mills and boon books given to by her grandmother. Her love for romances grew, by the age of 14 she had read hundreds of them.

Aoife has a passion for writing poetry or in her eyes her journal entries. It was something she did throughout her teens and into her twenties. Aoife won first place for two of her poems and had them published at a young age of just nineteen.

Aoife's first book Eden Forest (Part one of the Saskia Trilogy) took first place with Writers Got Talent 2013. Aoife continues to write tales of fantasy and romance.

Yes, I was more attracted to Miranda than any other female I had ever come across, but that didn’t make her girlfriend material. How do I explain all of that to a thirteen-year-old girl? Besides, even though I had a strict no-dating rule for their young ages, I didn’t want to hurt Brianna’s feelings by allowing her to think the boy she was so infatuated with didn’t share her feelings. She was my sister and as cute as she was now, she was going to grow up and become a real heart-breaker. I was fucked.

What in the hell do I do? I lifted my head and asked her to sit down.

“Listen to me, okay? As you can see, Miranda is very beautiful. I’m a guy, I take notice in that because it’s natural so that’s why I look at her that way. Adam probably thinks you’re beautiful too because you are, okay?”

“Okay. But I need to know if he likes me!”

“You’re thirteen, Brianna! It doesn’t matter. Look, I’m sorry. Yes, okay. If he was looking at you the way I was looking at Miranda, then yes, he likes you.”

Somehow I’m going to regret this later.

“Soooo, you like Miranda, then? Is she going to be your girlfriend?”

Not much later. Was I seriously having this conversation with my thirteen-year-old sister?

AUTHOR BIO:

Ashley Bostock was born and raised in Colorado where she currently resides with her husband, two children, her dog and two cats. She loves reading, writing, and music and is always trying to find more time in the day to incorporate all three.

Seeking an outlet and pursuing her life-long passion for writing, she began composing her first novel in late 2013. She has traveled all over the world, but still has an extensive list of places she would love to visit. Anywhere near a sky-blue ocean will always be at the top of that list.

She carries a Bachelor’s Degree in History with a concentration in Elementary Education from Metropolitan State College of Denver. While she loves children, she now fears teaching, which probably has something to do with being a stay-at-home mom.

Akarra knelt expectantly on the floor near the back corner of Yridia’s Cave.

“Pattern matching is most important, dear,” Yridia said.

“I know, Mistress Shardshaper,” Akarra replied, head bowed in deference. “You’ve told me so—many times—but I just don’t see the use of geometry.” She was tired; it had been a long training session and she still wasn’t through.

The small but cozy cave—one in which she had spent many long hours engaged in study—had been hollowed out in the shape of a twelve-sided figure of exquisite design—a dodecahedron, it was called. It at once conveyed a sense of space, mystery, and power. Much like the element it represented: the ether. Each of the twelve faces of the shape formed a perfect pentagon—a five sided figure of further significance and meaning. The pentagon-shaped floor, of course, was made of clouded white quartz; the ceiling, clear. The pentagons on the walls alternated between white and clear. There were no cracks or fissures or blemishes; all the angles and divisions were neat, clean, and precise, thus regulating the temperature of the room perfectly. As Akarra perused the features of the cave, she felt contentment and peace, and her antennae glowed a pale greenish yellow in response. This was like a second home for her. She was the apprentice Shardshaper. One of the most respected members of the tribe.

Akarra watched Yridia move to the center of the pentagon floor and squat down in front of her. Yridai’s yenshi robe billowed out and she produced a crystal of transparent blue quartz in the shape of a perfect tetrahedron. Her Heartshard. A piece of the Heart Crystal itself, the source of the Shardshaper’s power.

Akarra could feel the Shard’s presence.
