Blurb:

Banished from Wild Point Island as a child, Ella Pattenson, a half human-half revenant, has managed to hide her true identity as a descendent of the Lost Colony of Roanoke.  Thought to have perished, the settlers survived but were transformed into revenants--immortal beings who live forever as long as they remain on the island.

Now, Ella must return to the place of her birth to rescue her father from imprisonment and a soon to be unspeakable death.  Her only hope is to trust a seductive revenant who seems to have ties to the corrupt High Council.  Simon Viccars is sexy and like no man she’s ever met. But he’s been trapped on the island for 400 years and is willing to do almost anything for his freedom.

With the forces of the island conspiring against her, Ella  must risk her father, her heart, and her life on love.

My Review

Ella Pattenson, a half human-half revenant, was born on Wild Point Island, as child she was banished from the island along with her twin sister and mother. Only revenants could see the island. Revenants could not leave the island without permission from the council and could only stay off the island for a short period of time or they would die.

When Ella and her family was banished from the island her father was imprisoned by the council. Ella spent her adult life trying to find away to rescue her father and make it possible for revenants to live off the island. When she makes the right antidote that will allow revenants to live off the island she returns to the island to rescue her farther.

The members of the council wants Ella's antidote so they try to blackmail her into giving it to them. They tell her they will release her father if she gives them the antidote. But Ella has not intentions of giving her up antidote on their terms. She knows the council is not being very truthful with her.

Ella meets Simon a revenant that is on her side and tries to help her rescue her father. Ella is very attractive to Simon and wants to spend the rest of her life with him. The harder she tries to help her father the more people she learns is against her and her reason for making the antidote. Ella doesn't know where or who to turn to or who she can trust including Simon. Ella is even beginning to wonder if she can trust her own sister.

About the Author:

Author pic

Kate Lutter believes she was born to write. She wrote her first novel when she was in eighth grade, but then almost burned her house down when she tried to incinerate her story in the garbage can because she couldn’t get the plot to turn out right. Now, many years later, she lives in NJ with her husband and five cats (no matches in sight) and spends her days writing contemporary paranormal romances, traveling the world, and hanging out with her four wild sisters. She is happy to report that her debut novel, Wild Point Island, the first in a series, has just been published by Crescent Moon Press. She is busy writing the sequel and her weekly travel blog entitled Hot Blogging with Chuck, which features her very snarky and rascally almost famous cat.

Pages: 75

Published: February 25, 2012

Publisher: Deshca Press

Goodreads synopsis:

Long after a pandemic swept the world, society has crumbled. A remnant of human civilization ekes out an existence in a closed community called Sanctuary. To control their population, the ruling brethren use a lottery, the winners of which join the new gods that reside beyond the walls. But when her daughter is chosen, Anna Charles discovers the lottery is fixed by despotic church leader, Roman Quail. Now in a frantic bid to save her family, she flees into the hostile environment outside Sanctuary where only the strongest survive, and where all their gods are dead. Literally.

My Thoughts

I loved the whole concept, idea that is being portrayed in Dead World. It is not just about zombies or Gods in general. I love the aspect of telling a story with in a story. Shaun Jeffrey has an amazing, awesome way of telling a story. He is a brilliant story teller. To understand what he is trying to say you would have to have an open mind. The whole time I was reading Dead World I kept thinking that Shaun Jeffrey has a way of telling stories that makes me think of Stephen King.
