Blurb:

Skye followed her long time boyfriend to Seattle for their first year of college, but he dumped her after only a week. The relationship brought only pain and destruction in Skye's life, and yet, she can't bring herself to open up and live her life.

"What if I am already broken into pieces?"

She hates to be touched, hiding under her oversized shirts and behind her wild frizzy hair. Even her bubbly roommate can't reach her. And yet ...

"I'm the guy who knows how you can hurt so much that your insides feel like they're cut and bleeding."

The tall, handsome, and tattooed TA in her psychology class changes everything when he literally collides with her and confronts her. For the first time in a long time, she wants to try and open up to this guy whose dark, intense eyes can't hide his own pain despite his dazzling smile getting to her.

However, just when she's starting to live again, her ex-boyfriend comes back, breaking her time and time again, making it all the more complicated.

She wants to fight for herself and for this building thing with the TA, even when he pushes her away, but can two broken people patch each other up?

"I never thought colliding with someone could change lives, but it is possible."

Excerpt:

(The first meeting)

[...]

Without paying attention to my surroundings, I turn to my left to walk toward the row closer to the door where a seat is available. I take a step and collide with a hard body, almost toppling me over on the ground for the second time in less than an hour. A strong hand grips me firmly by the forearm. My body stiffens and my breath catches in my throat. It's as if I can't move besides yanking my arm free without looking up to see who I collided with.

"Are you all right?" he asks me in a deep and calm voice.

My eyes wander from my red Converse to his dark boots. I have to calm down. I'm being ridiculous. Calm down. I take a deep breath and look up slowly. Long, muscled legs in beat up dark blue jeans, an old black leather jacket open over a dark grey V-neck sweater that showcases an impressive tall body with broad shoulders and finally, longish and messy black hair, perfect straight nose, full lips, high cheekbones and expressive soft dark eyes that lock with my bluish-greyish ones. He looks older with his goatee perfectly trimmed. A perfect hot mess many girls would say. I'm just intimidated by this stranger, though.

"I'm fine," I reply, my voice even. I push away some of my untamed locks and curse my auburn frizzy hair that is always all over the place.

Book Description:

This year Ania is hoping to snap out of her depressed mood. She spends her summer locked up in her room, thinking about Gabriel who is somewhere between life and death.

So when Adam, Gabriel’s best friend, turns up on her doorstep and tells her that he can take her to him, Ania refuses because she can’t go through the same hell again. Her heart has already been ripped out of her chest.

She returns to Swansea to start another year at University, but her education is not the most important thing – she ends up getting more involved in the new and dangerous world of the Sprites. This year doesn’t seem to be any easier than the last one, and on top of everything else, she has to find the cure for the Iron curse before Gabriel’s life will end forever.

All at once, Ania is juggling her University work, investigating the kidnapping of a young girl from America for the University paper and trying to fight with the attraction to a handsome blond-haired Sprite who has appeared in her life so unexpectedly.

To confuse Ania even more, she is finding well-known fairy tales in her pocket. They don’t seem to make any sense until she makes a decision to follow her emotions and start looking for her real family.

Will she ever get to the end of this emotional rollercoaster?

My Review:

I was given a free copy of the book from the author for my honest opinion.

Ania has spent the summer in her room at home with her mother or the woman she grew up believing was her mother. Ania is very pissed at the woman who took her in all those years ago and raised her as her own flesh and blood daughter. Ania blames this woman who has done nothing but loved her all her life. She blames her saying she is the one who lied to her all these years. Oh I can understand that she is hurt and upset but to blame her? Well it is all probably due to the fact that she is the only one around at the moment to blame. Did she ever love her? When she found out that she wasn't her real mother did that kill the love she had for this woman? What about the people that gave her up for adoption, you know the ones that make it look like they didn't care about her or love her. But we don't know at this point as to why they gave her up. We can't judge them until we have all the facts.

Ania is starting a new school year back at the university in Swansea and she can't wait to get back there and get away from the woman who raised her. Ania still misses her boyfriend Gabriel who is a Sprite. Humans are not supposed to be able to see Sprites but Ania is different she can see them. Sprites are not supposed to be able to feel or care about anyone. Sprites have their life partner picked for them by the council and are not allowed to be with a human. Gabriel is in a sort of coma right now because he saved Ania's life last year. Now with the help of other Sprites Ania is trying to find a way that will break the curse that Gabriel is under. Ania thinks or believes that she will never be able to be with Gabriel even if she finds the cure and he wakes up that is if it is left up to the council. But she loves him very much and will do whatever it takes to save Gabriel.

Everyone is telling Ania that she can never be with Gabriel that he does not belong to her and that she needs to get on with her life. Well Ania starts to believe what everyone is telling her and so that is why when she meets another Sprite, Aideen she finds herself very attracted to him. Ania know she still loves Gabriel and doesn't understand why she feels the way she does about Aideen, why her body is betraying her like this? But with being told that she can't be with Gabriel she goes ahead and listens to her body and not her heart and has an affair with Aideen.

Ania has been forbidden to go anywhere near Gabriel or she will die. She tries to put him out of her mind and heart but it is impossible for her to do. So when she hears that there is way to save his life she knows that she will do whatever it takes even if it means her own life. She is determinded that she will not let Gabriel die, after all he didn't let her die her risked his life to for her.

I have truly enjoyed reading Ania's story which started out in the first book of The Whispers, The Whispers of the Sprite when Ania found out that she was the only human that could see Sprites and she fell in love with a Sprite, Gabriel and now in the second book The Dark Night Whispers Ania finds out that she can never be with her one true love. She is fighting for both of their lives. She is trying to find a cure for Gabriel while she is trying to keep herself from being murdered. If you have not read The Dark Night Whispers then I highly recommended that you do you will not regret it. But It would be best if you started with the first book The Whispers of the Sprite first.

The Whispers of the Sprite is currently free on Amazon.
