Blog Tour: Brainwalker by Robyn Mundell & Stephan Lacast @yaboundtourspr

Brainwalker
Genre: YA Scifi/Fantasy
Release Date: October 1st 2016
Dualmind Publishing

Summary from Goodreads:

Fourteen year-old Bernard is full of out of the box ideas—ideas that nobody appreciates. Not his ultra-rational father, not his classmates, and definitely not his teacher, who’s fed up waiting for Bernard’s overdue science project. You’d think with a hotshot quantum physicist for a dad, the assignment would be easy as “pi”, but with his relationship with his father on rocky ground, Bernard is under more pressure than a helium atom.

And Bernard’s impulse control flies out the window when he’s stressed. So instead of turning in his project, he moons the class and gets suspended. Now his dad’s got no choice but to bring him to his work. At the Atom Smasher. It’s the chance of a lifetime for Bernard, who knows smashing atoms at the speed of light can—theoretically—make wormholes. How about that for the most mind-bending science project ever? But when he sneaks into the particle accelerator and someone hits the power button, Bernard ends up in the last place he’d ever want to be.

Inside his father’s brain.

And it’s nothing like the spongy grey mass Bernard studied at school. It’s a galaxy, infinite and alive. Like, people live there. A mysterious civilization on the brink of extinction, as unaware of their host as he is of them. But there’s zero time to process this. Bernard’s about to be caught up in an epic war between the two sides of his dad’s brain over their most precious resource:

Mental Energy.

With his father’s life at stake, Bernard must go up against the tyrannical left side of his father’s brain to save the dying, creative right side. But how the heck is he supposed to do that when he’s just a hopelessly right-brained kid himself?

"The characters and the setting of this book are truly unique and very diverse, the plot is filled with fiction mixed with real brain concepts and puts everything into perspective from both fiction and reality" — Gabrielle Messier

"Definitely an approach to teenage urban fantasy that I’ve never seen before. I found myself quite enamored with Bernard and all his geeky questions and theories ... Underneath all the neurology, it’s really a story about connection and love and fighting for what’s important." — Kristen Canady

"'Brainwalker' is a great scientific fiction and that offers the readers a fantastic experience of the scientific adventure with the beautifully written words, the well laid out plots, and lifelike characters in the story." — Yichen Tu

The illustrations were all so refreshing to see - it's been too long since I've read a book that isn't afraid to support the plot line with pictures! I'm looking forward to what Mundell and Lacast have to offer in the future!" — TT turner

Book Blitz + #Giveaway: Tempting Tristan by Melissa Foster @Melissa_Foster @XpressoTours

Tempting Tristan
Melissa Foster
(Harborside Nights #3)
Publication date: October 19th 2016
Genres: Adult, LGBTQ+, Romance

Tempting Tristan is a stand-alone M/M romance featuring two sexy, lovable alpha heroes.

TRISTAN AND ALEX

Fresh off the heels of yet another bad relationship, Tristan Brewer is taking a break from men to try to figure out where he keeps going wrong. He knows his biggest fault—he leads with his heart, not his head—and that’s never going to change. But after several introspective weeks, he’s beginning to get a handle on things. That is, until badass heartthrob Alex Wells walks into his bar…

Alex has spent eight years in the army, months in a hospital bed, and far too long hiding his sexual identity. He’s guilt-ridden, damaged, pissed off, and up for a Silver Star for the incident that nearly cost him his life—and kept him from his grandmother’s funeral. But all he wants to do is live the life he’s always dreamed of and forget his stint with the institution that allows but doesn’t necessarily accept.

The chemistry between Tristan and Alex ignites from the moment they meet, and the more time they spend together, the hotter the flames burn. But the closer they become, the more Alex’s walls go up, and when the two walk onto a military base, Tristan finds out Alex’s physical scars aren’t the ones that run the deepest.

EXCERPT:

She rolls her pretty green eyes. “No, Tristan. Because the hottest man on the planet just parked his motorcycle and he’s heading in here. All of my female customers are drooling, and I’m sure you’ll see a flock of them coming in any minute now. Meanwhile, I’m stuck outside and soon I’ll have a pier full of empty tables.” She grabs a handful of napkins and waves them at me with a smirk. “Drool rags.”
“Dibs,” Charley says as she whips up a cocktail.
I laugh and hold my hands up. “I’m on a hiatus from all things male, so be my guest.” My ex, Ian, is a self-absorbed ass, and I was an idiot for letting him treat me like shit. Which is why I’m taking a break from men—even if it kills me. It’s been weeks since we broke up and I moved into my buddy Wyatt’s house. Wyatt and his twin sister, Delilah, own the Taproom. They inherited it when their parents were killed in a car accident a little more than a year ago.
“I’m sure he’s straight anyway,” Livi says. “The guy swaggers like a stud.”
“Hey, gay guys can swagger like studs,” I tease.
“I know that.” Livi peers out the pass-through window to the outside seating area and tosses her blond hair over her shoulder. “You’ll see what I mean. He’s a total badass.”
I tend to my customers as the girls discuss the badass hot guy, and when the front door opens, I can’t help but let my eyes drift over. Livi and Charley fall silent, ogling what truly might be the hottest guy on the planet. Linebacker shoulders fill the doorframe. The godlike creature is carrying a shiny black motorcycle helmet in one very large hand. His white T-shirt is stretched so tight across his chest I can see every ripple of his shredded abs, and his deliciously defined biceps are seriously struggling to be set free from his short sleeves.Tear, baby, tear.
He steps inside and runs a hand through his dirty-blond hair. Deep-set, brooding eyes slide over the customers sitting at the bar, sweep over Charley and Livi, and finally land on me. Charley whimpers, and Livi makes a sound in the back of her throat, both mimicking what I’m feeling, though my mouth is too dry to make a sound.

Everyone loves hockey superstar Pierce Miller. Everyone except Lia Bailey.

When the two are forced to teach a skating class to save the rink, Lia’s not sure she’ll survive the pressure of Nationals and Pierce’s ego. Not only can’t he remember her name, he signed her bottle of water like she was one of his groupies. Ugh.

But if there’s one thing Lia knows better than figure skating, it’s hockey. Hoping to take his ego down a notch—or seven—she logs into his team website under an anonymous name to give him pointers on his less-than-stellar playing.

Turns out, Pierce isn’t arrogant at all. And they have a lot in common. Too bad he’s falling for the anonymous girl online. No matter how much fun they’re starting to have in real life, she’s afraid he’s going to choose fake-Lia over the real one…

Disclaimer: This book contains a swoony hockey player (and his equally swoony friends!), one-too-many social media accounts, kisses that’ll melt ice, and a secret identity that might not be so secret after all…

Blurb Blitz + Review + #Giveaway: Resthaven by Erik Therme @ErikTherme @GoddessFish

Resthaven
by Erik Therme
GENRE: YA suspense

BLURB:

The last thing Kaylee wants to do is participate in a childish scavenger hunt—especially inside the abandoned retirement home on the edge of town. When she finds a bruised, deaf boy hiding inside one of the rooms, she vows to lead him to safety . . . only to discover the front doors are now padlocked, and her friends are nowhere to be found. Kaylee is about to learn that not everything that goes ‘bump in the night’ is imaginary, and sometimes there are worse things to fear than ghosts.

Excerpt:

The dog was taller than our knees and its skin clung to its ribs, as if it hadn’t eaten in days. A half-chewed leash hung from its collar, and its ears and muzzle were pulled back. There was no question we were unwelcome guests.

“Kaylee?” Anna said.

The dog began to growl. We both took a step back.

“Do we run?” Anna rasped.

“Are you crazy?” I whispered fiercely. “We can’t outrun a dog.”

“What do we do?”

A sound rose and died in my throat. All I could see was the dog’s teeth. Last year I had been bitten by a stray in our neighborhood, and I still had the ankle scar to prove it.

The dog let out a wracking bark, startling us both back another step. My eyes skipped to Anna, then to the open doors on each side of us.

“We can hide inside the rooms,” I said, speaking low and fast. “When I count to three, run into the room beside you and slam the door.”

Anna’s grip on my wrist tightened. “I can’t—”

“You can,” I hissed. “If both of us go for opposite rooms, the dog won’t know which one to follow. That will confuse it and give us another second of time.”

“Another second?”

“Just get inside the room,” I said.

The dog lowered its head, shifting its muddy eyes from Anna to me. It knew who the threat was.

“One,” I whispered.

“Don’t make me do this,” Anna said.

My stomach knotted. “Two . . .”

The dog burst forward in a shambling run.

My Review:

Kaylee mom and dad have broken up so Kaylee and her mom have moved to a new town. Kaylee hates being away from her dad and the friends she left behind. But she has made a new friend in her new town. Anna invites her to go to a party at a friend’s house and her mom said she could go even though she didn’t want to go. Her mom thinks it is time she got out of the house and stops moping around and has some fun.

What they never counted on was that there was not going to be a “party” at a friend’s house. The “party” was a scavenger hunt at a retirement home that had been shut down. Kaylee didn’t want to participate in a scavenger hunt she just wanted to go home.

But when Kaylee and some more girls are locked in the retirement home they don’t exactly have a choice. While Kaylee is trying to find a way out she finds a little boy playing in one of the rooms. Kaylee is like why is a little boy playing inside a retirement home and how did he get in? While Kaylee is trying to figure all of this out in her head she is also trying to figure out who that old man is that is chasing after her and what he wants with her.

After finding out that the little boy is with the old man she conjuror up all kinds of reasons in her head as to why an old man has a little boy in a retirement home. she thinks that the old man has kidnapped him. Now Kaylee and the other girls are not only trying to save themselves but now they have a little boy to look out for.

What will happen to Kaylee and her new friends now? Will they all get out alive? Can Kaylee save the little boy from the old man? Is rescue on the way? Does anyone know they need rescuing? Does anyone even know where they are? Who is the little boy and why is he in a retirement home with an old man? Who is the old man? Will he hurt Kaylee and her friends? All the answers can be found in the book. So pick up your copy of Resthaven today to find out.

I would have to say that I found Resthaven to quiet intriguing. There are lots of corners to turn in the halls of Resthaven and I felt as if that was exactly what I was happening when I was reading Resthaven because it took you on so many turns you didn’t know what was going to happen next but you sure wanted to know. It kept me on my toes from beginning to end wanting to what was going to happen next. The ending was one that I never anticipated it blew me away. I want to know what happens next. I hope Kaylee and her new friends have more adventures to go on because I don’t think Kaylee or Corbin’s journey is over or at least I hope not. I need more now please.
