Interview with Kailee Reese Samuels

What inspired you to write Tea for Two?
Tea for Two was the first book I wrote that really came in flashes. With my other books, I always kind of knew where they were going. T42 was different in that regard. It started with a moment from The Bachelorette believe it or not. The girl had decided to partake in some bedroom activity with one of the guys and the media chastised her for having that desire, yet a man can. It seemed unfair to me. So my original opener started there which is now the middle of the book with Sal scrutinizing Kaci for sleeping with two guys.
The story progresses on to the threesome of Sal, Kaci, and Bertie, but everything is not as it seems. This book is unlike the others in that it really makes some statements about where we are today as far as feminism and transgender issues.
Can you tell us a little bit about the next books in The Story of Salvatore (The SOS series) or what you have planned for the future?

Next up is Grunt set to release on May 30. I am super excited about it. It is a dark book and very much out of what I would consider my comfort zone. The last book in the SOS series – Hopechest – will release on fourth of July and there will be an HFN at least within the setting of five years ago. It is very important for me to end on an upbeat, positive note as far as The SOS series goes.

The next big book in The Juliet Collection will be released on Halloween. Iris and the whole cast will return. It will be a good place to be after working on The SOS for a while.

I just finished up another story – Fluff – with two characters from the Juliet world, Dale Archer and Mae East. I am anticipating a April/May release.

Can you tell us a little bit about the characters in Tea for Two?

The whole SOS series takes place five years ago and focuses on main character Sal Raniero. Through The Story of Salvatore we discover how he became who he is today in Juliet.

The adorable pixie, Kaci returns for more of her eccentric scenes, but we also get a real look at who she is and how her and Sal fit together in the big picture.

Bertie is a really special, pivotal character and I think she resonates incredibly well in the book. This won’t be a tissue-free book! Sorry, lol

You know I think we all have a favorite author. Who is your favorite author and why?
My favorite author at the moment is probably J.A. Huss. I have been reading Taking Turns and her back catalog. I really love finding an author that I have a guaranteed enjoyment value because I don’t have a lot of time. Her books have definitely given me some important lessons as far as plot twists and build up. She never disappoints!
If you could time-travel would you travel to the future or the past? Where would you like to go and why would you like to visit this particular time period?
Oh gosh! Probably the future so I could see how my three boys and their kids turn out. Probably seems pretty boring. I am a simple girl with a  very active imagination.
Do you have any little fuzzy friends? Like a dog or a cat? Or any pets?
We live on a farm in Texas. We have chickens, mini horses, a host of barn cats, and a pig named Victory Rush – yes, I played WoW. We also have a quaker parrot and chameleons. But I would have to say my favorite is my white Pekingese Nikki. She is my “writing partner” and always stays on my feet in the middle of the night. She is rather grumpy though and snores very loud!

Thanks for taking time out of your busy schedule to visit with us today.

Thank you so much for having me! I really enjoyed this!

XO - Kailee

Review: The Walking Dead, Compendium 1 by Robert Kirkman @RobertKirkman

The Walking Dead, Compendium 1
Published: May 19, 2009
Publisher: Image Comics
Genre: Horror, Zombies, Comics, Graphic Novels

Blurb:

Introducing the first eight volumes of the fan-favorite, New York Times Best Seller series collected into one massive paperback collection.

In a world ruled by the dead, we are forced to finally start living. With The Walking Dead #1-48, this compendium features more than one thousand pages chronicling the start of Robert Kirkman's Eisner Award-winning story of zombie horror, from Rick Grimes waking up alone in a hospital, his band of survivors seeking refuge on an isolated farm and the controversial introduction of Woodbury despot, The Governor.

My Review:

Officer Rick Grimes wakes up in a hospital after being in a coma due to a gunshot wound while on duty. He steps out into the hall to find a nurse or someone at least but as he starts walking down the hall soon realizes no one is there. The rooms are all empty. There no sign of people, no patients, no nurses, do doctors, no visitors the hospital is empty or is it? Just as he is making his way to an exit he hears something and realizes that there is something behind that door something or someone has been locked in. Now why would anyone lock a bunch of people in like that? But he is soon over run by a bunch of people that want nothing than to bite him. What is wrong with these people? He takes off down the street trying to get away from them before they eat him when he runs into to a man Morgan and his Duane who explain to him what is going on and that the world has been overrun with zombies.

Rick goes home to find his wife, Laurie and son Carl missing. Well I guess you can imagine what his first thought was but then he remembers that Laurie has family in Atlanta and figures that she would go there so he packs his bags and take off for Atlanta. He finally finds Laurie and Carl with a group of people camping in the mountain area. His best friend and partner Shane helped his family to get to Atlanta safely.

Well they have not been reunited long with zombies over take their campsite and they have to hit the road looking for a better safer place to stay. All they want now is just to survive and live another day while ridding the world of a few more zombies. They come upon a farm on their travels and decide to stay awhile but the farmer Hershel Greene won’t let them stay and sends them on their way. One of own Glenn decides that he is going to stay at the farm as he has fallen in love with the farmer’s daughter Maggie.

So the crew find themselves back in the same position as before you know back on the road again looking for a safe place to stay. They come upon a prison which just happens to be overrun with zombies. But they figure they can clear it out and it would be a great place to live. So they start to rid the world of a few more zombies and kill the prison zombies. So the Prison folk move into the prison. As they are making sure the prison is all clear of the pz they find that the cafeteria has been boarded up so naturally when they open the door they are expecting to see more pz but they are so wrong. What they do find are more pf; prison folk who lived there before zombies ruled the world.

So now the pf have settled in to a new way of life at the prison fighting off the pz that congregate at the fence and outside the prison. But their peaceful life doesn’t last long with the Governor comes to take over the prison. The pf do not only have to fight the pz they have to fight the living as well to keep their home. But they are outnumbered and soon find themselves back on the road again looking for a new safe place to stay and ridding the world of a few more zombies in the process.

The Walking Dead is my favorite tv show ever. I have watched it from the very beginning. I tell everyone don’t call my house when The Walking Dead is on because I will not answer the phone. Do not miss with my Walking Dead or we are gonna fight. So when I was given the opportunity to read The Walking Dead I couldn’t say no. Although the book is different from the tv show I still loved it just as much as ever. I have always loved blood and gore. The bloodier and gorier it is the better I like it and I do love me some zombies. I love the world that Robert Kirkman has created for The Walking Dead. The characters come alive on the pages they all have their everyday life problems even if some of them are petty childish things that need to be put behind them. But that just makes them human I guess. Once I started reading it I couldn’t put it down and I really can’t wait to read the next book to see how different it is from the tv show.

Yes I would definitely recommend reading The Walking Dead if you love the tv show or if just love zombies with a lot of blood and gore mixed in.

I followed the sounds to the garage, where Blue Eyes sat on a wooden box and tinkered with a greasy thingamajigger that looked like something one pulled out of a robot. I couldn’t tell where the music came from, but I recognized the classic rock tune. Not bad.

He didn’t glance up or move, yet the music stopped. Magic? No, I shouldn’t even think like that. It was illogical. Magic didn’t exist.

“I thought we agreed to stay away from each other, Freckles.”

I’m not letting him get to me. Not this time. “I plan to, but you fixed the Petersons’ mailbox, so I’m here to thank you.”

“Courteous? You? What happened to the snarky girl I met earlier? Raine with an E?” He looked up, a wicked smile curling his lips. “I liked her.”

I ignored the dig. “How did you do it?”

He wiped his greasy hands on a cloth. “Magic.”

“Don’t start. Magic is not real.”

“Says who?”

“Me. Science. Logic.”

“Okay, Freckles. We’ll play this your way. We’ll say I was inspired, and there’re no heights a man can’t reach when...” he got up, leaned closer, and whispered, “inspired.”

Book Blitz + #Giveaway: Dorian by Carlos Dash @CarlosDash1 @XpressoTours

Dorian
Carlos Dash
Publication date: April 3rd 2017
Genres: New Adult, Romance

It was supposed to be a meaningless one-night stand. As a billionaire, I have plenty of those.

But she was different.

How was I supposed to know that I would fall in love with her?

And how was I supposed to know whose daughter she was?

Note: This is a New Adult Romance novel written entirely from the point of view of the male protagonist.

EXCERPT:

Every once in a while, you’ll see two people who are meant to fall in love. Everything flows perfectly for them.

Imaginary birds are flying around their heads and singing love songs to them. Other couples are walking by and becoming jealous at how in love the two people are. It’s all constantly wonderful and gooey.

Then there are people who aren’t supposed to end up together but do so anyway. They fight fate and destiny, if those two things actually exist. They fall in love with each other even though that isn’t part of life’s plan.

I’m not sure which category Emily and I belong to.

Sometimes I think it’s the former. Sometimes I think it’s the latter. It all depends on what mood I’m in.

But at the end of the day, it doesn’t really matter. What does matter is the fact that we have love on our side.

As for whether that love was preordained or something that we brought about through sheer force of will, I’ll let you decide that for yourself.

My name is Dorian Alexander, and this is a story about a girl who would change my life forever.

Rogue in Love: Thea and Lex
Inger Iversen
Publication date: March 28th 2017
Genres: Adult, Contemporary, Romance

Missing Teal and Trent from Inevitable: Love & War? Check out Rogue in Love, the beginning of a series of standalones featuring Trent Reed’s new employees!

Ten years ago, Lex made the difficult choice to skip town, abandoning the young girl who’d offered him her innocence and a place in her heart. However, when Lex is called back to Blackwater to say goodbye to his dying confidant, he is confronted by the broken-hearted woman he left behind and given the task of helping her mend the gaping hole his absence created.

When Thea and Lex reunite, sparks fly and secrets are unveiled.

EXCERPT:

She paused in front of the door, fist raised and ready to knock, when a thought occurred to her. Lex had mentioned he’d seen Abbott earlier, and all of Blackwater knew damned well that on a Saturday night there was only one place to find Abbot and that was at Blackies.

“Shit,” she whispered fiercely as she backed away from the door. If it had been any other bar, she wouldn’t have given a damn, but Blackies? Known for its cheap hookers and cheap booze, it was the one bar not one respectable Blackwater resident would ever show their face. Sure, Blackwater was full of hoodlums and fools, but even most of them steered clear of Blackies. Turning away from the door, Thea made her way to the kitchen.

She yanked open cabinets, rifling through them until she found an old bottle of whiskey. Hunting high and low for shot glasses, she came up empty.

With an annoyed growl, Thea plopped down at the table and opened the bottle. “Fuck it.” A long swig later and Thea found herself sputtering and coughing up a damned lung. Wheezing, Thea thumped her chest until she was able to breathe again. “Shit, that always looked easier in movies.” Wiping her watering eyes, she lifted the bottle again, and this time she took a careful sip; the liquid formed a burning trail down her throat and pooled in her belly.

What the hell was Lex doing at Blackies? If all he wanted was liquor, then he could have ended up at any other bar, why had it been that one? Braving another gulp, Thea closed her eyes and tried to imagine Lex picking up another woman. The thought seared her blood more than the liquor ever could.

Feeling foolish for one, drinking alone, and two, not having the guts to ask Lex the question himself, Thea bounded up, liquor bottle in hand, and stomped down the hallway. This time, without hesitation, she burst into the bathroom only to see Lex, all naked, tatted, two-hundred and some pounds of him covered in soap with her little pink razor between his fingers, eyeing it as if it were a snake seconds from striking. Thea couldn’t help but stand frozen in place, viewing him through the see through shower curtain. His tanned and toned ass flexed as he turned, confusion marring his now clean, but still hairy face.

Lifting the razor, he asked, “What the fuck am I supposed to do with this?”
