Blog Tour + #Giveaway: The F Student by Xyla Turner @XylaTurner @XpressoTours

The F Student
Xyla Turner
Publication date: January 10th 2017

Genres: Contemporary, New Adult

Cash just wanted to graduate but after his father cut him for screwing up in school, he had no more money and only one semester left. Three opportunities presented themselves and Cash accepted all of them.
One would require him to work with the sassy TA;
The second was degrading;
And the third would end any chance of graduating if he was ever caught.
Find out what happens when this F student applies himself in more ways than one.
Stay tuned for The D Student, The C Student, The B Student and The A Student.

Interview with Xyla Turner

What inspired you to write The F Student?
I decided to write The F Student after drafting a short story about a college student and a professor. I have a knack to write series, so I kept wanting to connect the student in the short story to my Love Under Attack, Far Rockaway University series. This made me think of the antagonist in that book and the students she could use to do her bidding.
That was how the A, B, C, D, F Student series was born and I started with F, just to switch the style up.
When or at what age did you know you wanted to be a writer?
I don’t think I knew when I wanted to be a writer. I wrote some things as a teenager and my mom thought I could write a decent story. My imagination is always running, hence I still sleep with doors closed and no feet hanging off the bed because I want to be sure IT, the killer clown, doesn’t get me. So, five years ago, I decided to start writing and published a book. Then I entered into the world of Christina Lauren and loved the male and female points of view and once I put pen to paper, I haven’t turned back yet.
What is the earliest age you remember reading your first book?
My mom was huge on reading but the first book I remember reading and nearly reciting was Horton, Hears a Who. We had the tape and I knew every single word.
What genre of books do you enjoy reading?
I love romance. Hands down, I love a good romance story.
What is your favorite book?
My favorite book to date is Motorcycle Man by Kristen Ashley. This is a toss-up between Crossfire by Maya Banks.
You know I think we all have a favorite author. Who is your favorite author and why?
I’m going to have to go with Kristen Ashley. I love her books and all of her series. Her heroes and heroines are people I feel like I know or can identify with. They are quirky, make mistakes, laugh, take things seriously and personal. I love her men and the women could all be my friends.
If you could travel back in time here on earth to any place or time. Where would you go and why?
I would travel to the March on Washington to hear Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s I Have a Dream Speech. To be a part of a movement that has shaped this nation would be priceless.
When writing a book do you find that writing comes easy for you or is it a difficult task?
Writing comes easy for me. Especially writing about something that is on my heart or I’m excited about. I will zone out everything and write that story. It becomes hard when I have to force it or I’m on a deadline. I get frustrated and the characters don’t speak as freely.
Do you have any little fuzzy friends? Like a dog or a cat? Or any pets?
No, I used to have a Pug. She was a cutey but after moving to New York, working a 9-5 and writing the rest of the time. There’s no time for other things.
What is your "to die for", favorite food/foods to eat?
I’d have to say seafood. I’m all about crabs, especially.
Do you have any advice for anyone that would like to be an author?
Branding, networking, and promoting are essential elements for a new author.

Kramer and Shadow Book 3

THE PITS
Excerpt

CHAPTER 1

The Humvees sped past people milling about, pointing at the smoke still towering over the town of Gereshk and jabbering loudly among themselves. Women and children huddled together here and there away from the road, and the elderly gaped at the armored convoy racing into hell.

The town itself was quite built up but very poor and the sewage trails ran down the streets in open channels. Leathernecks would be covered in it when they finished their patrols. Kids ran around in it barefooted.

The Humvees arrived at the town’s central marketplace and instantly found themselves mobbed by hysterical townsfolk. The Marines dismounted and immediately secured the area as the corpsman pushed his way through the tumult towards the blast site. Captain Kramer, 1st Battalion, 1st Marines, Regimental Combat Team 6 held his ground against the terrified and angry locals wailing in his face, some even tugging at his uniform for attention.

He needed to assess the situation. Apart from his Humvees, no other vehicles occupied the square. His troops had rapidly secured the perimeter and a couple now assisted the corpsman. A gritty cloud of smoke and dust shrouded the entire area but drifted away over the rooftops, aided by a breeze that had mercifully sprung up.

Sure enough, a car bomb. A huge scorched crater marked where the car had been parked outside a building. The remains of the vehicle lay in a smoldering, mangled heap halfway across the square with the Explosive Ordnance Disposal technicians sifting through it. Rubble, pieces of metal, the dead, dying, and the injured lay strewn about the whole marketplace. Kramer’s boot bumped something as he stepped forward, and his eyes snapped to his feet. A bloody hand lay palm up. An innocent child’s hand.

His demeanor hardened, and the mob fell back as if it sensed the deadliness building up inside the warrior. Reports flooded in to him as his troops called in with updates. Without hesitation, the radio tech who kept close by Captain Kramer as he prowled the devastated marketplace flashed the news to base headquarters. Among the townsfolk still milling about, a few local officials, including the police chief, worked with the Marines to clear the area of unnecessary personnel.

Close by, a handful of weeping men loaded a civilian pickup truck with bodies, each wrapped in blood-soaked cloth. A group of distraught women mixed with them, wailing and grasping at each bundle being handled. Overwrought by their gruesome task, they were totally oblivious of the poor bewildered individual sitting quietly among their shuffling feet.

A runty tan pup sat sorrowfully beside one particular body. Occasionally it raised a paw and tentatively touched the bloody cloth, or prodded it with its nose. Kramer observed transfixed as the pup peered at the people, then at the small bundle of cloth, then at the people again. Then the pup nuzzled the bundle as if trying to awaken the person wrapped inside.

A grief-stricken man knelt and reverently lifted the tiny body. Judging by his age, he’s likely the father. As he stood, the pup whimpered as if to say, hey, wait a moment. The wailing increased as hands passed the body up to a blood-streaked villager standing in the back of the pickup. Just as he turned to place the bundle with the others, a gust of wind flipped up a corner of the cloth, revealing a tiny hand. Instinctively, Kramer felt that it belonged to a very young girl.

With the last victim onboard, the pickup started up and pulled away. The men and women mourners followed close behind trying to comfort each other as best as they could. The procession gradually left the square, disappearing from view as a waiting throng swarmed after it as it passed into a nearby street.

A strange silence fell over the square. It seemed as if the few remaining locals and all the Marines had their attention riveted on the lonely pup still sitting in the road. It hadn’t left that spot in all this time. Now it sat there staring after the pickup and those following it.

Captain Kramer crossed the street and gently lifted the pup. An expression of pure unadulterated love met his eyes. A light sparkled behind those dark brown eyes that he couldn’t describe. He just felt it.
“Well, hello there, little guy. Looks like everyone’s gone and left you all alone. Ain’t fair, is it? What say I do something about that.”

The pup didn’t squirm or attempt to get away. It merely fixed its eyes on him as if it knew that this person would care for it, keep it safe, and maybe even feed it occasionally. As the six-foot-six Kramer cradled the puny creature in his arms, he was oblivious to the gazes directed his way from all around the square.

The advent of retirement opened a whole new world to me and now that it has come to pass, I am turning my artistic bent from graphic design and illustration to that of writing.
To date I have published three books, KILLING SOFTLY (an erotic mystery thriller), and begun an action crime series centered on two characters, Captain Kramer, USMC and his Anatolian Shepherd dog, Sgt. Shadow, USMC. Book One of the series is THE PITS, Book Two is YOU CAN RUN, and at the time of this bibliography rewrite, I am working on Book Three, LEX TALIONIS.

The Kramer and Shadow series is an action, adventure, crime thriller series that encompasses the world and has our two Marines fighting hard against organized crime at many levels - but always involving do-or-die confrontations.

My hope is to establish a fan base for my writing so that my readers can have an active role in helping me grow and develop as an author in the years to come. I invite you to join me in this adventure.

Book Blitz + #Giveaway: Shopping for a Billionaire’s Honeymoon by Julia Kent @jkentauthor @XpressoTours

Shopping for a Billionaire’s Honeymoon
Julia Kent
Publication date: January 31st 2017
Genres: Adult, Comedy, Romance

He is addicted to his phone and his new role as CEO. I’m addicted to getting some on my own honeymoon.

One of these things is not like the other.
I am pretty sure a serial killer’s lair is the only place in the world where I could stash my new husband so he can’t manage the acquisition of our new company.

And that seems a little drastic.

But only a little…

All I want is one week alone with him. Hours in bed, legs tangled together in ecstasy, room service and long walks on the beach in Hawaii.

Not vying for his kisses around a Bluetooth microphone. The Borg aren’t sexy in real life.

So I’m taking matters into my own hands and hitting “reboot” on our honeymoon.

We’re going to a place so remote that no one can find us.

Not even my mother.

Shopping for a Billionaire’s Honeymoon is now a full-length book of 150+ pages, with both Shannon and Declan’s points of view. Originally published with only Shannon’s viewpoint, this expanded edition is a result of reader feedback. People wanted to know what Declan was up to – so here you go. This book is meant to be read after Shopping for a Billionaire’s Wife and/or Shopping for a CEO’s Fiancée, but if you read it out of order (or even as a standalone), that’s fine. Shannon and Declan forgive you.

EXCERPT:

Shannon

Let’s do an inventory of this fine day. My day-after-I-got-married day. In Vegas.

After fleeing my Momzilla mother.

Today is supposed be Day One of my honeymoon after marrying the billionaire of my dreams.

(Let’s not count the night before).

Woke up to the lovely sight of my husband’s tousled dark hair sliding down my torso so he could feast on me for breakfast.

Had actual breakfast in bed after room service delivered mixed berries, cream, bacon, and maple-soaked carrot-cake french toast, and the best damn coffee on the planet from the coffee chain I now own.

Made love with my delightful husband in the giant jetted bathtub in our suite. Turns out I’m as bendy as a Cirque du Soleil performer when I need to be. Maybe Mom’s insistence that I attend all those yoga classes she teaches has a silver lining after all.

Dressed and prepared to hop the corporate jet for Hawaii, kisses interspersed between readying ourselves for the trip. Undressed twice. Dressed twice. Declan insisted I not wear panties for the plane trip.

“But I’m already a member of the Mile High Club,” I’d protested.

“Not as a wife.”

He had a point.

Panties abandoned.

Found his brother, my best friend, a former colleague and an Anterdec chauffeur all married to each other.

Notice something a little different about that last one?

Yeah. Me too.

Day One of my honeymoon had promise, but now? Now it’s a little too real.

We’re on the plane, settling into our seats, and I’m doing my best not to think about my poor best friend and her chaotic mess back at the Anterdec resort where Declan and I just spent nearly a week trying to figure out our entire life.

Which we did, successfully, to my utter surprise. After fleeing our wedding in a helicopter and lying to my Momzilla mother, we managed to get to Las Vegas, ensconced in a resort on the Vegas Strip that Declan had designed himself as an intern in college. By the time my crazy family caught up to us, we’d steeled ourselves for the inevitable fallout.

And got so much more than we expected, in more ways than one. We’re married now. Husband and wife.

That’s really all that matters.

That, and honeymoon sex.

Lots and lots and lots of honeymoon sex. It’s my wifely right to walk funny for the next few days.

And his husbandly duty to make it so.

Book Blitz + #Giveaway: Something Like Voodoo by Rebecca Hamilton @InkMuse @XpressoTours

Something Like Voodoo
Rebecca Hamilton
Publication date: February 7th 2017
Genres: Paranormal, Young Adult

From New York Times bestselling author Rebecca Hamilton

High School can be a witch.

A teen girl with the ability to predict deaths through her drawings shouldn’t need to lie constantly to make her life sound interesting. But that doesn’t stop Emily from spinning stories faster than she can keep up.

After transferring to a new school, Emily’s ‘dull’ life is shaken by the appearance of a boy who seems unfazed by her far-fetched stories. A too-handsome-for-his-own-good senior, Noah has some secrets of his own. He needs Emily’s special gift to save him from Sarah, queen bee of the school’s It Girls, whose own supernatural abilities have forced him into a life of silence and solitude.

But when Emily tries to free him from Sarah’s voodoo curse, things go belly up, landing Emily on Sarah’s hit list. Soon, Emily and Noah are on a collision course with the It Girls, leading to a shocking revelation that ties them together in unimaginable ways. If their powers remain unchecked, this teenage popularity contest could spell the death of them all …

Romantically charged and eerily chilling, Something Like Voodoo weighs the choice of saving your life versus fighting for a life worth saving. This paranormal romance will put a spell on you.

EXCERPT:

Boots crunching the snow, I slung my backpack over my shoulder. When I shut my car door with a little too much force, I cringed, but a slow breath resettled my nerves. Kind of. Then I focused only on the school’s main entrance. Get from here to there. That was all I had to do. Tell some lady or some man at some desk who I was and pick up my class schedule.

Halfway there now.

Someone shouted, “Hey,” as I walked into a solid mass.

“Ow.” I grabbed my shoulder and checked for what caused the damage.

Apparently that mass was a person.

“Watch where you’re going,” the person said.

I looked up. Goosebumps prickled up my arms and neck. Staring back at me was a boy with the most intense cerulean eyes, framed by the darkest lashes. So much for avoiding eye contact.

“I’m, uh, wow. Sorry.” I scurried past him but he gripped my arm, spinning me back again. “Whoa!”
I cried out. “Listen, I said—”

“No.” He shook his head. “I’m sorry. You’re new here?”

Being new was the worst thing to be in high school. “Um, no,” I lied. “I just skip classes a lot.”

He laughed, the anger lines that creased his forehead dissipating. “You’re that Bishop girl,” he said with a little too much fascination. Guess my reputation preceded me. “Come on, brat. I’ll show you to the office.”

Brat? I shook it off. I heard him wrong. I mean, that would be pretty rude, right? He seemed like he wanted to help me, even though I’d totally crashed into him.

As we walked, I made an extra effort not to look at him. Not in the eyes, anyway. It was impossible not to see some of him from the corner of my vision. He wore a short-sleeved shirt and shorts, but I bit back the urge to ask if he was cold. If he were, he would’ve worn something warmer. So I kept my mouth shut and stared at his calf muscles as he led me through the front doors into the large open hall.

With such an athletic build, I bet he had some cheerleader girlfriend who would flip out if she saw him talking to me. I’d been here all of ten minutes and already I was making enemies.

This school year was going to be awesome.

Blurb Blitz + #Giveaway: Paging Dr. Cupid by Nancy Fraser @nfraserauthor @GoddessFish

Paging Dr. Cupid
by Nancy Fraser
GENRE: Vintage (1960s) Historical

BLURB:

Santa Rosa, CA, January 1967

Newly appointed Chief of Emergency Medicine Dr. Garrett Langley can't seem to find a secretary to keep up with his demands. His love life isn’t going so well, either. He recently lost his long-time girlfriend to his older brother and saw a workplace romance end in disaster, leaving him with a busy career but no love life.

Piano prodigy Grace Valentyne forfeited the second half of her Julliard scholarship to come home to California and care for her mother. Now, with her mother gone, she must find a job in order to pay for the remainder of her education. When offered the opportunity to work for the physician nicknamed Dr. Cupid, she jumps at the chance.

Grace soon finds herself in over her head—and not just with the office equipment.  But falling for the boss won’t get her back to Julliard. She needs to keep her focus and not let the sexy doctor derail her professional goals.

Excerpt:

Garrett shoved the last clipboard into place atop the nurses’ station. So much for organization…routine. Rounds had taken twice as long as he’d anticipated, and the need for a secondary consult had caused him to miss his standing department head meeting.

Not that he minded. Sitting around a conference table with a dozen other doctors discussing schedules and budgets was not his idea of productive time management. He’d have much rather been holed up in office tending to his dictation.

Dictation? Or is it Grace who has you anxious to get back to your desk?

If he were being honest, probably a bit of both. Okay, a bit of one, a lot of another. “I’m back,” he called out, his arrival at the corner of the desk obviously surprising her.

She startled, her head jerking up. “So I see.”

It was then he noticed the look of fatigue in her expression, the dull lifelessness of her usually bright eyes. And the roses. On her blouse. He crooked his finger and beckoned her to follow. “Can you join me, please?”

“Yes, of course.” She stood, the sudden motion causing her to wobble. He grasped her elbow to steady her before stepping into his office. Once she’d crossed the threshold, he shut the door behind them. “What time did you leave work last night, Grace?”

“What time?” Her gaze lowered and she bit her lower lip before saying, “I told you, I’m not putting in for overtime pay. It shouldn’t matter how late I stayed.”

Slowly, he reached out and lifted the embroidered collar of her blouse, running his thumb across the rose and leaf detail. “You didn’t go home at all last night, did you?”

“What makes you think that?”

“This is the same blouse you were wearing yesterday.” A vision of Grace on the stepladder, her pencil-straight skirt hugging her hips and bottom came back to haunt him. “And if I’m not mistaken, the same skirt.”

She let out a long, weary sigh and sank into the leather chair opposite his desk. “I couldn’t face disappointing you again. When we couldn’t find that little girl’s file…I don’t know…something inside me just snapped.”

He glanced briefly at his watch. Four-ten. Grace had been at work for over thirty hours. “Get your coat, hat and purse. I’m driving you home.”

“My car is here. I can drive myself.”

“You can barely keep your eyes open. You’re an accident waiting to happen. The last thing I’d want is to see you lying on a gurney in the ER.”

“But—ˮ

“No arguments. Get your things. We’ll be leaving in ten minutes.”

 I...uh…I work until five.”

He shook his head and shot her what he hoped was a quelling glare. Pointing toward the outer office, he ordered, “Not today you don’t.”

Published in multiple genres, Nancy currently writes for four publishers. She has published twenty-two books in both full-length and novella format. In November 2016 Nancy celebrated twenty years as a published author and will release her 25th book in mid-2017.

Book Blast + #Giveaway: The Soldier's Woman by Kelly Lyonns @kellylyonns @GoddessFish

The Soldier’s Woman
by Kelly Lyonns
GENRE: Historical Romance - Regency

BLURB:

It is 1810 somewhere in the chaos of war-ravaged Napoleonic Portugal. Miss Charlotte Everslea, dedicated member of an ancient secretive Guild and skilled paranormal artefacts hunter, has found herself trapped behind enemy lines. Colonel Maximillian Bladewood is used to giving orders and having them obeyed, both on and off the battlefield. But the petite golden-haired hoyden, to whose accidental intervention he owes his life, challenges both his authority and his sanity. Their cross-purposed journey will reach a crossroad where one or both of them will need to compromise.

Excerpt:

When Charlotte met Maxmillian

He was still holding her, and she wasn’t quite sure what to do next. There was a pause as she felt him lean back a little, probably trying to catch a glimpse of her face. It was extremely silly, but despite everything she had already faced, she couldn’t look him in the eye, couldn’t bear him seeing the red puffy proof of her crying.

“I wish I had a handkerchief to offer.” The deep quiet voice above her head paused, “Sadly, mine are with my dress uniform in a supply wagon, somewhere on the other side of this battlefield I should think.”

She was grateful for his attempt to invoke the humour and even a little civility to their situation.

“I most sincerely apologise, Sir.” Heavens above, her voice came out as a wavering snuffle. She could absolutely not look up.

He neither moved nor answered for some long moments. She felt a little trill of something like panic building in her chest. When he did speak, the words were all gentleness, despite the dust roughened rasp.

“It is of no consequence Madam. I think that we find ourselves in an unusual situation.” He cleared his throat before adding quietly, “I have seen strong men break down and weep after a battle. There is no shame in this.”

The little alarm that had been building evaporated. She still stood inside his arms. He had made no attempt to release her, but then neither had she made any sign that she wished it. Suddenly realising she needed to do exactly that, she stiffened in his arms and gave the barest push with her hands. Was it her imagination, or was there a moment of hesitation before he let her go? With an unsettling mix of relief and regret she stepped away, head averted to avoid his gaze. She was glad there was no witness to their strange introduction. What an impression she was making.

“Nevertheless, I apologise for such a display.”

“Please do not berate yourself for such a social lapse. Not here… in this Godless place.”

BOOK TRAILER:

Author Bio:
Veronica Thatcher is an exciting new contemporary romance author. Ever since she was very young, she’s dreamed of becoming a doctor when she grew up. While still forging ahead with that, majoring in pre-med in college, she unwittingly stumbled upon a new dream—becoming a published author. Some may call her an introvert or a wallflower, but she has always found she could express herself better in written, rather than spoken, words. However, never in her wildest dreams had she envisioned she would pursue writing as a prospective career, not just a hobby. Her love for writing goes hand-in-hand with her love for a good romance novel—whether it be a feel-good, sweet romance or a dark, suspenseful one.

When she’s not studying, reading, or writing, she is usually found blasting her favourite songs, sometimes singing and dancing along to them. She dabbles in a number of activities, including painting, karate, singing and dancing. She is a huge chocoholic – probably the biggest – and she is an ice-cream junkie too. She considers herself technologically handicapped forever and has no shame in admitting that. She also deems chocolates her boyfriend, Patrick Dempsey the love of her life, and Friends her life!
Her first book, A Way Back Into Love, is slated for release in February 2017, and she hopes readers will enjoy it as much as she enjoyed writing it.

Cover Reveal: A REFERENCE TO MURDER by Kym Roberts @kymroberts911 @SDSXXTours

A REFERENCE TO MURDER
by Kym Roberts

Genre: Cozy Mystery

Pub Date: 5/16/2017

SOMETIMES YOU GET WHAT YOU NEED . . .

Charli Rae Warren is back home in Hazel Rock, Texas, spending her time reading, collecting, and selling books—at least, the ones that don’t get eaten first by her father’s pet armadillo. Running the family bookstore is a demanding job, but solving murders on the side can be flat out dangerous…
The Book Barn is more than just a shop, it’s a part of the community—and Charli is keeping busy with a fundraising auction and the big rodeo event that’s come to town. That includes dealing with the Texas-sized egos of some celebrity cowboys, including Dalton Hibbs, a blond, blue-eyed bull rider who gets overly rowdy one night with the local hairdresser . . . and soon afterward, disappears into thin air.
Dalton’s brother also vanished seven years ago—and Charli is thrown about whether Dalton is a villain or a victim. After a close call with an assailant wielding a branding iron (that plays havoc with her hair), and some strange vandalism on her property, she’s going to have to team up with the sheriff to untangle this mystery, before she gets gored . . .

Three career paths resonated for Kym Roberts during her early childhood: detective, investigative reporter, and . . .nun. Being a nun, however, dropped by the wayside when she became aware of boys—they were the spice of life she couldn't deny. In high school her path was forged when she took her first job at a dry cleaners and met every cop in town, especially the lone female police officer in patrol. From that point on there was no stopping Kym's pursuit of a career in law enforcement.
