My quote for this week

On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft
On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft
By Stephen King

“There are books full of great writing that don't have very good stories. Read sometimes for the story... don't be like the book-snobs who won't do that. Read sometimes for the words--the language. Don't be like the play-it-safers who won't do that. But when you find a book that has both a good story and good words, treasure that book.”

Stephen King has been one of my favorite writers since well I can't actually remember. But I really like this quote. Why? I have said more than once that some books may have a good story but the writer is not any good. Or the writer may be good but the story is not. I have read both and will again I am sure.

My quote for this week

Goddess Interrupted (Goddess Test, #2)
Goddess Interrupted By Aimée Carter

It is supposed to be the truth." He stared at me and my breath caught in my throat. "If I were a better man, I would be able to show you the love and affection you deserve. As I am not, I can only offer you what I'm capable of giving. But I assure you, just because I do not show it, doesn't mean I do not feel it.”

The Goddess Test books #1 and #2 were the first books that I have read about Greek mythology. I have been interested in it for a long time but I don't know very much about it. The first time I saw The Goddess Test books on someone's blog and read their reviews I knew I had to read them. I loved how the writer changed all the Gods and Goddess' names.

My quote for this week

On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft
On Writing By Stephen King

“Books are a uniquely portable magic.”

I love Stephen King's books. I have read and own most of his books. I really like this quote because it is very true. There is magic in books. All the wonderful places and worlds that you get to visit. I think of it as the author's magical worlds.

My quote for this week

The Shawshank Redemption
Shawshank Redemption By Stephen King

“The most important things are the hardest to say. They are the things you get ashamed of, because words diminish them -- words shrink things that seemed limitless when they were in your head to no more than living size when they're brought out. But it's more than that, isn't it? The most important things lie too close to wherever your secret heart is buried, like landmarks to a treasure your enemies would love to steal away. And you may make revelations that cost you dearly only to have people look at you in a funny way, not understanding what you've said at all, or why you thought it was so important that you almost cried while you were saying it. That's the worst, I think. When the secret stays locked within not for want of a tellar but for want of an understanding ear.”

I think that most all of us keep things bottled up inside sometimes. Which is not good because after a while they have to come out and when they do it may not be in a good way or like we intend it to.

My quote for this week

Gone With the Wind
Gone with the Wind By Margaret Mitchell

“I bare my soul and you are suspicious! No, Scarlett, this is a bona fide honorable declaration. I admit that it's not in the best of taste, coming at this time, but I have a very good excuse for my lack of breeding. I'm going away tomorrow for a long time and I fear that if I wait till I return you'll have married some one else with a little money. So I thought, why not me and my money? Really, Scarlett, I can't go all my life waiting to catch you between husbands. ”

Gone with the Wind is one of my all time favorite books. I really enjoy reading about the civil war and the fall of Atlanta. I love books like this where you can learn the history of your country while reading a good story.

My quote for this week

'Salem's Lot
'Salem's Lot By Stephen King

“Only library books speak with such wordless eloquence of the power good stories hold over us.”

Another quote by one of my favorite authors. I think 'Salem's Lot was the first novel that I read about vampires. The vampires have certainly changed since Stephen King wrote 'Salem's Lot.

My quote for this week

Hollowland (The Hollows, #1)

Hollowland (The Hollows, #1) By Amanda Hocking

“You know something?" He lifted his head, and when he turned to me, he had this strange look in his eyes. Almost as if he was really seeing me for the first time. "I don't think I ever really lived until this. I've never done anything that mattered before, but now I'm fighting to save my life, and yours. And I know it sounds really cheesy and lame, but I don't think I ever really felt alive. Not until I met you.”

I really liked this book, well because I like zombies and anything that is horror. Remy is a kick-ass girl that is a very independent girl who can take care of herself. It has all the action that you need to keep you wanting to read more.

My quote for this week

Of Poseidon (Of Poseidon, #1)

Of Poseidon By Anna Banks

“I said, you'll have to prove that I ran into you on purpose. That I meant to cause you harm. And besides, I checked with you at the time---"

"Emma."

"---and you said you didn't have injuries---"

"EM-MA"

"Did you hear me, Galen?" I turn around and yell at the remaining spectators in the hall as the bell rings. "CHLOE IS DEAD!”

Of Poseidon was the first book about mermaids that I read. I loved it. The ending was kind of shocking. It was an ending that left you wanting more. I can't wait to read the next book in the series called Of Triton. I have a while to wait because it is not expected to be published until 2013.

My quote for this week

Goddess Interrupted (Goddess Test, #2)

Goddess Interrupted (Harlequin Teen) By Aimée Carter

“You don’t need to spend every waking moment protecting me now. I’m supposed to be your partner, not your burden, and if that’s all I’m ever going to be to you, then I don’t want to be here anymore. I want you to love me. I want to look forward to coming here every fall. I want winter to be my favorite season because I get to spend it with you. So tell me that’s going to happen, Henry. Tell me things are going to be better, that you’re not going to think of Persephone every time you touch me. Tell me that you’re going to love me as much as you love her, and that I won’t spend the rest of eternity paling in comparison to your memories of my sister.”

The Goddess Test books #1 and #2 were the first books that I have read about Greek mythology. I have been interested in it for a long time but I don't know very much about it. The first time I saw The Goddess Test books on someone's blog and read their reviews I knew I had to them. I loved how the writer changed all the Gods and Goddess' names.

My quote for this week

Palomino

Palomino By Danielle Steel

“The judge arrived half an hour later with the file he had collected from his office on the way, signed several papers, had Sam sign them, the matron witness them; Josh cried, Norm cried, she cried, the judge grinned, and Timmie waved his teddy bear at the judge with a broad grin as they wheeled into the elevator. "So long!" he shouted, and when the doors closed, the judge was laughing and crying too.”

Palomino is one of my favorite books of all time. I loved all the characters. Sam is very strong minded person and strong willed. She was also very independent. Sam's friend the owner of the ranch and the ranch foreman I loved how they cared so much for each other. Sam and Tate has the same kind of feeling for each other as they did. Palomino is a very fantastic read.

My quote for this week

The Witching Pen

The Witching Pen (Witching Pen Novellas #1)

"No, now," she whispered. "Tonight. I want to be with you tonight. I've spend too many years scared of this. I've never let myself feel anything close to love; I've never even used my magic to its full potential. I've been so terrified of my lineage, of what it would mean to...everyone, if I did something careless and my powers got lost..." Tears sprang up in her eyes. "I've never lived. Karl, I want to live with you. And I want to start now."

I know how Elena feels you give up your life because of how you were raised to believe. The things you were taught by your parents to be the truth. You get tired of living your life for someone else. So you finally start living your life for yourself and stop trying to do what you were raised to believe and start doing what you want. When you finally realize the truth you figure out that you are not such a bad person after all.

Darkness Falls (Darkness Falls, #1)

Darkness Falls (Darkness Falls Series, Book 1) By Jessica Sorensen

“But we all make mistakes. It’s how we fix them that makes us who we are.”

I agree with this quote because, yes we all make mistakes. We are not perfect. We learn from our mistakes and maybe, hopefully we will grow from them and become a better person.

My quote for this week is from Wolves of the Calla The Dark Tower, #5 By Stephen King

Wolves of the Calla (The Dark Tower, #5)

“She put a hand on his hip and turned him to her. "But things could go wrong, so I want to tell you something while it's just the two of us, Eddie. I want to tell you how much I love you." She spoke simply, with no drama.

I know you do," he said, "but I'll be damned if I know why."

Because you made me feel whole," she said. "When I was younger, I used to vacillate between thinking love was this great and glorious mystery and thinking it was just something a bunch of Hollywood move producers made up to sell more tickets in the Depression, when Dish Night kind of played out."

Eddie laughed.

Now I think that all of us are born with a hole in our hearts, and we go around looking for the person who can fill it. You...Eddie, you fill me up.”

I liked this quote because I think it is so cool what she is telling Eddie. She thinks that we all walk around with holes in our hearts looking for the one person that can fill that hole.

My quote for this week is from The Goddess Test By Aimee Carter

The Goddess Test (Goddess Test, #1)

“This is the gate between the living and the dead", he said. "You are still living. The others on the grounds died very long time ago." A chill ran through me. "And you?" "Me?" The corner of his mouth twitched. "I rule the dead. I am not one of them” ?

The Goddess Test was a very fantastic read. I loved reading about all the Gods and Goddess. I liked how Aimee Carter changed the names for each God and Goddess. I also loved how Kate was still alive but yet she lived among the dead. Kate is a very great person she was willing to give up her life or a part of it to keep her mother alive.

My quote for this week is from Of Poseidon By Anna Banks

Of Poseidon (Of Poseidon, #1)

“Emma, we don't have to kiss. She already knows I want to sleep with you." He cringes as soon as he says it. He doesn't have to look up to know the sizzling sound in the kitchen is from Rachel spitting her pineapple juice into the hot skillet. "what I mean is, I already told her I want to sleep with you. I mean, I told her i wanted to sleep with you because she already thinks I do. Want to, I mean-" If a Syrena could drown, this is what it would feel like.”

I loved reading Of Poseidon. I never wanted it to end I could not believe the ending. I mean it was a very good ending I just wanted to know more. I love this quote. Galen is a very strong, tough masculine kind of guy but Emma just makes him melt.

My quote for this week is from To Kill a Mockingbird By Harper Lee

To Kill a Mockingbird

“You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view... Until you climb inside of his skin and walk around in it.”

As I always say you can never know what you would do in any given situation unless you have been through that exact same situation yourself.

My quote for this week is from The Stand By Stephen King

The Stand

“Show me a man or a woman alone and I'll show you a saint. Give me two and they'll fall in love. Give me three and they'll invent the charming thing we call 'society'. Give me four and they'll build a pyramid. Give me five and they'll make one an outcast. Give me six and they'll reinvent prejudice. Give me seven and in seven years they'll reinvent warfare. Man may have been made in the image of God, but human society was made in the image of His opposite number, and is always trying to get back home.”

I think that Stephen King is trying to explain the MACRO and the MICRO of the human race weather its the world as a whole or just a gathering of friends and family.

If any knows me at all then they know already that Stephen King is one of my favorite writers and The Stand is my favorite novel by him. So I guess that means you will see a lot more about him on my blog in the future.

My quote for this week is from Staying Human By Kyle Tobin

A child sees into the heart and soul of adults, breaking down the barriers of pretense that we hedge up around ourselves. They don't get caught up in the facade we shell our life with to appease others or to hide our secrets. Children see us as we are, in our simplest, truest form. They don't see each individual decision we make and try to formulate an in depth view of us, they just feel who we are at our core.

And if a child can see us at our most basic persona...and love that core; that truth deep inside that we often cover; then that is something special.

I love this quote because it confirms my belief that babies know us by our energy the positive as well as the negative.

My quote for this week is from Evernight By Claudia Gray

My quote for this week is from Evernight By Claudia Gray

Evernight (Evernight, #1)

“The silence between us stretched out, but it wasn't awkward. Sometimes there are people you can be quiet with, and you never feel the need to fill the gap with meaningless chit-chat. I'd only become that close to a couple people in my hometown, and I'd always thought it took years. Lucas and I were already there. ”

I like this quote because my husband and I can sit for hours and never say a word but we are ok with this. We love and trust each other and are confident in who we are. We don't need the other to fill certain emotional needs. We don't need to be the center of attention.
