My Review:

After everyone betrayed her; Pandora Scott left home four years ago and has been living on her own ever since. On that eventful night Pandora became a vampire. Now Pandora is a vampire thief. She is on the run from her ex-boyfriend, Jax; the people she has stolen from one of which is the head vampire of New York who just happens to may want her dead.

Pandora has been running for four long years and now she is getting tired of running. But she has no plans of returning to her home anytime soon if ever. But her family and Jax just may have more to say about that than she knows.

Pandora has no memory of that night and what actually took place. She knows Jax betrayed her but what did he do? And who is this mysterious guy; Sam who keeps turning up around every corner? What does he want with her? Does she know him? Is he a part of her past?

Book Tour + #Giveaway: The Mood For Trouble by Wynter S.K @Wynter_SK @SDSXXTours

The Mood for Trouble
Agent Provocateur Book 1
by Wynter S.K
Genre: Romantic Suspense

It takes a special blend of insanity and courage to answer the call to become a United States federal agent. CIA officer Charlotte “Chase” Moreno is equal parts crazy and brave, which, when combined properly, creates one kick-ass, dead-shot, often reckless spy.
Chase and sexy, roughneck DEA Special Agent Jonathan Harper are forced to work together to bring down an international drug and weapons syndicate, and there’s one problem: they can’t stand each other. But when he comes to her rescue on their first mission together, it’s impossible for either of them to deny their growing feelings, or the heat that’s boiling just beneath the surface between them. But one sizzling, unforgettable night between them in Sin City might have just changed the tide--forever.

Excerpt:

I stepped into the elevator, taking a silent breath in through my nose, deep to the bottom of my lungs. Her warm citrusy scent immediately filled my nose, filled the entire elevator. I slipped a finger into the open collar of my shirt and tugged. It was unnecessary and pointless, but reflexive. I couldn’t breathe.

Chase cleared her throat, staring at the screen above the button panel as it counted down the floors to the lobby. I glanced over at her. Her nervousness was evident in every line of her, from the rigid hold of her shoulders to the tight grip on her clutch purse. The hot tension in the tiny space that made my blood roar in my ears and my heart sledgehammer against my ribs was palpable, and she was feeling it too. I knew she was.

Suddenly, she turned her head, her eyes instantly finding mine and holding them. The roar in my ears became deafening in my head as my mouth flooded with saliva, my hands clenching into fists inside pockets.

One more second, and I will throw her against that wall.

As if she could read my mind, her pupils dilated and her mouth opened. I could hear, loud and clear, the shaky exhale of a deep breath between those luscious lips of hers.

As if on autopilot, one of my hands slipped from my pocket as I turned to face her head on. A soft growl that rumbled deep in my chest took even me by surprise as I stepped nearer.

“Harper,” she whispered.

The elevator pinged as it reached the lobby. The doors slid smoothly apart.

Bloody fucking hell. I stood back, clenching my jaw, letting her walk out before me, as I took another deep breath. I felt like I’d just been possessed by some powerful, unseen force that had been on the cusp of turning me into a slavering beast that could only be sated by ravishing insanely beautiful women.

I stared at Chase’s back as I followed her. The back of the dress was several rows of wide, light pink straps from the bottom of her shoulder blades to her waist, offering flashes of smooth, tanned skin between each strap.

Just one insanely beautiful woman…

Wynter S.K. is her name, and razor-sharp romance is her game. She considers herself a pioneer of the notion that crème brûlée is a good source of calcium, and has the uncanny ability to explain to you, in detail, why wine is basically salad. She’s turned vocal novelizations of her favorite TV shows (Supernatural, anyone?) into a drinking game, and frequently laughs herself into asthma attacks.
She’s mom to two furry kids, the Pushy Pomeranian and the Contemptuous Cat. Oh, and you know those idealized, Alpha male, “book boyfriend” types we all love that are super tough and sweet and hot, all in one unfair and unrealistic package? Yeah, she’s married to one. He’s a cop and a U.S. Army soldier, and after over a dozen years together, he still makes her heart go ka-thump.
Wynter S.K. is a romantic suspense writer, with a special emphasis on strong, heart-of-gold, gruff Alpha males and butt-kicking heroines—no damsels in distress over here! Her favorite pairings are two souls drawn together under crazy circumstances and recognize their soul’s counterpart in the other. Mutual healing, painful growth, and of course, lots of red-hot romps.
Wynter lives for the happily-ever-after, but if, and only if, it follows a hard-wrought battle. Wynter loves to (figuratively, of course) stab readers in the heart before making it all better again, so all you have to do is trust her to tell you a good story, and strap yourself in—it’s going to be one hell of a ride.

Book Blitz + #Giveaway: Romeo and What’s Her Name by Shani Petroff @shanipetroff @XpressoTours

Understudies never get to perform
. . . which is why being Juliet’s understudy in the school’s yearly “Evening with Shakespeare” is the perfect role for Emily. She can earn some much-needed extra credit while pursuing her main goal of spending time with Wes, aka Romeo, aka the hottest, nicest guy in school (in her completely unbiased opinion). And she meant to learn her lines, really, it’s just:
a) Shakespeare is HARD,
b) Amanda, aka the “real” Juliet, makes her run errands instead of lines, and
c) there’s no point because Amanda would never miss the chance to be the star of the show.

Then, Amanda ends up in the hospital and Emily, as the (completely unprepared!) understudy, has to star opposite the guy of her dreams. Oops?

EXCERPT:

I stood there like a lump, waiting for my line. Finally, I turned toward Kayla and repeated, “I said, LOUDER-ETH.”

She fed me the line again. Supercrazy loud this time. “I would not for the world.”

It was so loud, the crowd heard it and started to laugh. Not the snickers from before, but those evil, full belly laughs people get when watching home videos of someone getting kicked in the groin. Wes was going to hate me for putting him through this. This torture needed to end.

“Methinks,” I said, “I could use-eth a book-eth.” Come on, Kayla. Take the hint. “You know-eth. A BOOK-ETH where-est I can recite-eth beauteous words to thee . . . thou . . . whatever. I NEED THE BOOK-ETH.”

As I was shouting that last book-eth, I got my wish. The script came sailing from off stage left and hit me in the back of the head. “Ow,” I unintentionally yelled, to the delight of the crowd. It weighed a ton.

“Sorry,” Kayla whispered. “My bad.”

I didn’t care. I’d get over the pain faster than the embarrassment I was suffering. I was just happy to have the script. At least I was until I realized Kayla hadn’t bookmarked the page I needed. It was the complete works of Shakespeare. There was no way I would find the right page. Not to mention that since the book was with me, Kayla couldn’t even feed me lines anymore. R&J wasn’t a tragedy. My life was.

I was so flunking English.

“Would thou like some help, my sweet Juliet?”

Did Wes just call me sweet? I swung around to face him, but I wasn’t paying attention to where I was stepping and my foot went right off the balcony. Wes lunged forward to catch me, but why would anything go right for me? So instead of Wes stopping me from hitting the floor, I took him down with me.

I was lying on top of Wes Rosenthal. Only, this was not like any of my daydreams. This was mortifying. I rolled off him and jumped up. “Are you okay?” I was visibly shaking.

Wes stood up, too. “Don’t worry-eth, Juliet,” he said without any anger in his voice. He even smiled at me. For a second I thought that meant he didn’t hate me for the craziness I was causing. But then I remembered he was acting. He actually took what he was doing seriously, and right now his part called for him to be in love with Juliet.

Wes said some line I assumed was to get us back on track. But I had no response. I couldn’t take it anymore. The laughter of the audience. The panic coursing through my body. The thought of making Wes suffer more. It needed to end.

So I did the only thing I could think of—something super Elizabethan. I put the back of my and to my forehead, pretended to swoon, and let my whole body fall back to the ground with a loud thump.

“I am so sorry-eth, Romeo.”

“It’s okay.” He sat down on the ground next to me and took my hand. I felt little sparks fly through me.

I shook my head. I couldn’t let him go through this anymore. “No, I know how-eth this play end-eth. I think I shall stab-eth myself now to save-eth us both.”

“Finally,” someone in the audience yelled out.

I picked up an imaginary dagger and began to plunge it into my heart.

“No,” Wes said, stopping me before I committed imaginary suicide. “Our story is not over yet. So let’s just say, ‘Parting is such sweet sorrow, that I shall say good night ‘til it be morrow.’”

I was pretty sure that was supposed to be my line. But I decided I probably shouldn’t point that out.
Then he stood up and walked off the stage.

After a moment, someone finally took mercy on me and brought the stage lights down.

The scene was over. But I knew all too well that my embarrassment was just beginning.

NBTM + #Giveaway: Claimed by the Cyborg by Cara Bristol @CaraBristol @GoddessFish

Claimed by the Cyborg
by Cara Bristol
GENRE:   Science Fiction Romance

BLURB:

March Fellows assumed he had all the time in the galaxy to pursue a relationship with Jules, an alien exchange student from Xenia, until she vanished without a trace. After years of searching, he finds his lost love on the eve of her arranged marriage.

The daughter of the Xenian emperor, Julietta never meant to fall in love with a Terran man while visiting Earth. Leaving to fulfill her responsibilities on her home planet opened up a hole in her heart that could never be filled. When March, now a cyborg, unexpectedly shows up just before she is to be bonded, she struggles to find the courage to turn him away a second time and follow through with her duty.

Before she can act, the lovers are thrust into a political conspiracy that threatens the Xenian empire and their lives.

Claimed by the Cyborg is a standalone read in the Cy-Ops Sci-fi Romance series.

Excerpt:

“If Naimo should…pass, what will happen?”

“The seer will choose another mate for me.”

“You will go through with it?”

“I will be required to.” The idea sickened her, but responsibility only could be delayed; it could not be shirked. Each postponement shortened the time available to produce an heir. She and Naimo or his replacement would have to couple often to ensure she got pregnant by the deadline.

“I hope for your sake he recovers, and you live a long and happy life together. I apologize for interrupting your solitude.”

She would never see him again. Her heart seized, but she didn’t dare watch him go. Julietta gripped the pillar of the tacani for support. Tears trickled down her cheeks.

For a big man, he moved quietly, his footfalls making the merest pitter patter on the floor. In seconds the door would open and—

She whirled around.

March stood in front of her, his face stony, his blue eyes lit with an emotion she couldn’t read.

He grabbed her and yanked her against his chest. Her feet left the floor. One strong hand slid under her hair to grip her nape and tilt her head. His mouth slammed down on hers, would have forced her lips to part, but she was already opening for his kiss, drowning in it. Waves after wave of need swamped her body, eradicating all thought and will, except for the need to get closer, to meld into one body so no space, no cultural divide, no duty could separate them.

His tongue lashed hers, but she accepted his anger as penance, craved more, incited more as she lashed back. Teeth gnashed, deliberate and accidental, drawing blood that mixed with the decadent taste of him. Her head swirled, and she grabbed at his shoulders for support. Taut muscle, as hard as rock, offered no give, like his kiss. He didn’t coax, he took, anger and pain evident in the crush of his mouth, the steel grip of his hands.

Scalding tears of love and despair poured from her eyes and into their mouths.

When he dropped her on her feet and thrust her away, it was like tumbling into the abyss again, like returning to Xenia all those years ago.

He wiped his lips as if to erase her touch. “Have a good life, Jules.” He left and never looked back.

Interview with USA Today Bestselling Author Cara Bristol

What inspired you to write Claimed by the Cyborg?

I got the idea for Claimed by Cyborg when I wrote another Cy-Ops Sci-fi Romance, Married to the Cyborg (a free book readers get when they subscribe to my newsletter). The initial story idea grew out of idle chit-chat between two characters. Married to the Cyborg heroine (Penelope) attends a gala where she meets the Xenian emperor’s daughter (Julietta). I’m a total pantser. I make stuff up as I write. The two women started talking, and Julietta told Penelope that she was planning her wedding ceremony, but that she hadn’t met her mate yet, and didn’t get to meet him until the day of the ceremony. Say, what???  How can she marry a man she hasn’t met? I realized there was a story there.

Can you tell us a little bit about the next book(s) in the Cy-Ops Sci-fi Romance series or what you have planned for the future?

The next Cy-Ops Sci-fi Romance will probably be Carter Aymes’s story. So far, there are five books in the series: Stranded with the Cyborg, Mated with the Cyborg, Captured by the Cyborg, Trapped with the Cyborg, and Claimed by the Cyborg, plus the freebie, Married to the Cyborg. Each book is a standalone read. I do plan on writing at least one more Cy-Ops story. Carter Aymes, the Cyber Operations director has appeared in every book as a minor or secondary character. He’s been waiting patiently for his own book. The man is lonely; he needs a woman. Lol. Also, there’s an arch villain in the series who needs to be vanquished! Besides Cy-Ops, I’m writing a standalone, single title alien “mail order” bride romance, and I have plans for a new sci-fi romance series.

Can you tell us a little bit about the characters in Claimed by the Cyborg?

Marchand “March” Fellows is a cyborg who works for a spacecraft manufacturing company. He first met Jules when she was an “alien exchange student” at the Terran Technical Institute, and he was a teaching assistant. They became lovers, but then she vanished in the middle of the night. He searched for her for years, but never knew what had happened to her. He was critically injured in a terrorist attack and was transformed into a cyborg. Jules, aka Julietta, had duties on her home planet that she couldn’t avoid. She was desperately in love with March, but believed they had no future together. She left to fulfill her duty, which included going forth with an arranged bonding to a man she’d never met.

You know I think we all have a favorite author. Who is your favorite author and why?

I have so many favorite authors, and many of them are my friends. It’s impossible to name just one, but I’ll list a few in the sci-fi romance genre: Cynthia Sax, Eve Langlais, Lisa Medley, Veronica Scott, Jessica Subject, Ed Hoorneart, Anna Zaires. I apologize to my many other favorite authors whose names escape me at the moment!

If you could time-travel would you travel to the future or the past? Where would you like to go and why would you like to visit this particular time period?

I would go into the future about a hundred years. When I compare where we were technologically in 1917 to where we are now, it’s just astounding. Our lives have changed so much in just twenty years. I cannot imagine what the world will be like in another 100 years, and I would like to see it.

Do you have any little fuzzy friends? Like a dog or a cat? Or any pets?

I do. I have a cat, who sits on her scratch post next to my desk and supervises my work.

Thanks for taking time out of your busy schedule to visit with us today.

Thank you so much for having me!

Derek let out a frustrated sigh and ran his fingers through his hair. "Em…I mean that…It’s just this person you have become. The Emily I used to know didn’t hit on random guys at the bar."
Emily crossed her arms over her chest and gave Derek a glare. "Five years is a long time, Derek. Maybe I have changed," she said, "And besides, why do you care so much?"
Derek glared back at her as he replied harshly, "Oh, so you have changed so much over the last five years that now you throw yourself at random men like a…” he trailed off, not finishing his sentence.
Emily’s mouth fell open and her eyes widened as she let Derek’s words set in. She couldn’t believe her own ears for a minute. Had Derek really accused her of being a slut? She couldn’t believe it – it all felt like a nightmare.
"What did you just say to me?" Emily whispered, her voice sounding foreign to her own ears. "What did you just say to me?" Emily asked in a louder voice this time.
Derek didn’t say a word as he continued to look at Emily coldly.
Emily took a step towards Derek and narrowed her eyes. Poking Derek’s chest with the index finger of her right hand, she said in a soft yet acerbic voice, "You don’t get to call me a whore. You’ve no right to judge me. Do you hear me? You’ve no fucking right to judge me." The anger, the jealousy and the heartache combined with the alcohol she had consumed gave Emily a newly acquired courage. She felt more emboldened than she had felt in her entire life, and so, she didn’t hold back in letting out her pent-up exasperation. "You broke me," Emily continued, her words slurring slightly, "You broke me, but I am all glued up together now. And I make no apologies for how I chose to repair what you broke. You don’t get to call me a whore." Emily finished her diatribe, her breaths coming in short pants as a result of her outburst.
Derek looked into her eyes, the anger and bitterness in his eyes now replaced by confusion. "I broke you? What do you mean?" he asked in a bewildered voice, his eyebrows shooting up.
Emily stepped back from him and shook her head. "Oh, you know damn well what I mean. You know what, Derek? I’m done having this conversation with you. I’m so done with this conversation and I’m so done with you," Emily spat out angrily before brushing past him.
"Emily, wait," Derek said, catching her by her arm. "Where are you going?"
Emily spun around and gave him a bitter look before looking down at his hand gripping her arm. "Leave my arm," she said in a low yet threatening voice, "And why do you care where I’m going? It’s none of your business."
Derek didn’t leave her arm in spite of her warning and said, "Em, you’ve had too many drinks. You can’t drive in this condition. I’ll drop you home."
Emily jerked her arm free from his grasp and replied in a bitter voice, "Thank you, but no. I’m perfectly capable of getting myself home on my own. I don’t need you to drop me home. Do you get it, Derek Thorpe? I DON’T NEED YOU!" Emily yelled the last words, causing a few people to look their way.

Nothing is perfect. Life is messy. Relationships are complex. Outcomes, uncertain. People, irrational. But love…well, that makes everything complicated. And when you are caught in a tangled web of secrets, lies, and complex affairs, someone is bound to get burned. Emily Stevens is a spunky, spirited college girl whose life gets turned upside-down when she realizes she's in love with her best friend of fifteen years, Derek Thorpe. As Emily prepares to confess her feelings to Derek, something happens one night which changes her life forever. Five years later, Emily finds herself in Boston, alone and heartbroken. Will she ever be able to forget the past? And what will she find when she returns home...to the man she left behind?

Veronica Thatcher is an exciting new contemporary romance author. Ever since she was very young, she’s dreamed of becoming a doctor when she grew up. While still forging ahead with that, majoring in pre-med in college, she unwittingly stumbled upon a new dream—becoming a published author. Some may call her an introvert or a wallflower, but she has always found she could express herself better in written, rather than spoken, words. However, never in her wildest dreams had she envisioned she would pursue writing as a prospective career, not just a hobby. Her love for writing goes hand-in-hand with her love for a good romance novel—whether it be a feel-good, sweet romance or a dark, suspenseful one. When she’s not studying, reading, or writing, she is usually found blasting her favourite songs, sometimes singing and dancing along to them. She dabbles in a number of activities, including painting, karate, singing and dancing. She is a huge chocoholic – probably the biggest – and she is an ice-cream junkie too. She considers herself technologically handicapped forever and has no shame in admitting that. She also deems chocolates her boyfriend, Patrick Dempsey the love of her life, and Friends her life! Her first book, A Way Back Into Love, is slated for release in February 2017, and she hopes readers will enjoy it as much as she enjoyed writing it.
