What if the love they’ve found isn’t enough to protect them from the secrets of the past? What if the balance they’ve restored comes at a price none of them are prepared to pay?

Will passion and loyalty triumph, or will the La Cour and Deville family be consumed by forces they can no longer control? And can Nicholas La Cour protect his family from the nemesis of his past?

In Lovers, Players, Seducers Book IV: When Lavender Meets Flint! It’s Magic! ~ love collides with destiny, and every decision could be their last.

Interview with J. A. JACKSON

What is your favorite part of the book?

My favorite part of the book is the scene where Kadira and her friends visit the Santa Cruz Boardwalk and step into the dimly lit tent of Madame Cleo—Fortune Teller, Crystal Gazer, Oracle of the Veil.

There is something enchanting about this moment. The ocean in the background, the carnival lights flickering like secrets waiting to be revealed, and Kadira standing at the threshold of destiny—caught between the carefree innocence of youth and the deeper truths pulling at her spirit.

Madame Cleo doesn’t just read Kadira’s fortune. She pierces the veil around the girl’s carefully protected life. She senses the hidden legacy, the buried truth, and the storm that is quietly gathering around her.

That scene is my favorite because it marks a turning point. It’s the moment when Kadira’s world—so safe, so polished, so perfectly arranged—begins to crack open. The Oracle of the Veil doesn’t give her answers, but she gives her something even more powerful: a glimpse of the truth Kadira has been shielded from her whole life.

It’s mysterious, magical, emotional, and symbolic of everything the La Cour family story represents— destiny, secrecy, and the courage to face what lies beneath.

Does your book have a lesson? Moral?

Yes, the one-line sentence condensed lesson is… “Identity, love, and family cannot be built on lies—only on truth, no matter how painful.”

If you look at the lesson more in depth the lesson itself is broader and has dual-lesson in the story — one moral belongs to Kadira, and another runs deeper through Uncle Nicholas. Together, they reflect the entire La Cour/Rolandis family’s generational struggle with secrets, silence, and the cost of protecting legacy at the expense of truth.

    Kadira’s Moral / Lesson

“The truth will always find you—and you cannot become who you are meant to be until you face it.”

    Kadira’s journey is about:

  • discovering that love cannot grow on a foundation of lies
  • understanding that identity is more than the story you were told
  • realizing that family secrets protect no one—they only delay the pain
  • learning that stepping into adulthood requires stepping out of denial

Kadira believed she knew who she was: Beloved daughter. College-bound golden girl. La Cour-Egan heir.

But beneath her perfect life was a truth her family thought they could bury.

Her true lesson is about courage: Uncle Nicholas’s Moral / Lesson

“Secrets meant to protect a child can become the chains that bind them.”

Nicholas carries the darkest, heaviest knowledge in the La Cour lineage.

    His lessons are about:

  • the cost of keeping family secrets
  • the responsibility of holding generational truth
  • how silence can harm, even when born from love
  • the realization that protecting a child by hiding the past only delays their reckoning

Nicholas has spent books burying truths that were never fully his to keep.

    His moral becomes:

➤ Love is not protection through silence—love is truth, even when it hurts.

  • Nicholas must confront that:
  • shielding Kadira from her origins
  • shielding her parents from shame
  • shielding the La Cour/Rolandis legacy from scandal …did not prevent damage.

It created it.

The Shared, Overarching Moral

This book—like all strong generational dramas—delivers a central, unifying lesson:

“Family secrets don’t stay buried. And when they rise, only honesty and love can heal what silence has broken.”

Are your characters based off real people or did they all come entirely from your imagination?

My characters are a blend of truth and imagination. They’re not direct portraits of specific people, but rather mosaics—stitched together from small fragments of real personalities I’ve encountered throughout my life. A gesture from one person, a flaw from another, a secret someone once whispered, or a strength I admired…all these pieces become sparks.

From there, my imagination takes over. I love asking “What if?”

What if this person made a different choice?

What if they had a hidden past?

What if they were placed in a situation far outside their comfort zone?

What if love, betrayal, or fate pushed them in a direction they never expected?

Those questions are what breathe life into my characters. They step beyond their inspirations and become fully formed individuals with their own voices, desires, and destinies.

So while my stories may begin with glimpses of people I’ve known, the characters who emerge belong entirely to the world of my imagination—shaped by curiosity, creativity, and the endless possibilities of “what if?”

Of all the characters you have created, which is your favorite and why?

Of all the characters I’ve created in the Lovers, Players & Seducers series, the one who remains closest to my heart is Grand Mère Aurélie La Cour. She embodies the soul of the entire La Cour legacy: wisdom, intuition, grace, strength, and a quiet power that echoes through the family’s triumphs and tragedies.

I love Grand Mère because she is the keeper of the family’s emotional truth. She carries the stories no one else wants to tell, the history others are afraid to face, and the spiritual insight the younger generation doesn’t yet understand. She isn’t loud, she isn’t flashy, but her presence changes everything. She is the guide, the anchor, and the emotional compass in a world filled with ambition, secrets, and high-stakes drama.

She represents the kind of strength that doesn’t need to shout— the strength that comes from surviving, healing, and knowing exactly who you are.

Grand Mère’s love is protective but honest.

Her wisdom is gentle but piercing.

Her intuition sees beyond the surface, into the heart of what truly matters.

And on a personal level, she reflects the type of woman I admire most: a woman who has lived through storms, learned from them, and now passes her wisdom to the next generation. She is enduring, spiritual, elegant, and grounded in truth—qualities I strive to bring into my own life and writing.

So while I cherish all my characters, Grand Mère Aurélie La Cour is my favorite because she is the heart of the La Cour family—and the quiet force that keeps their legacy alive.

What character in your book are you least likely to get along with?

I would have to say Uncle Nicholas. For me, as, the author, Nicholas and I are least likely to get along. I mean I truly love Uncle Nicholas La Cour. Remember I created him as a young boy in the Grand Hotel. But Nicholas has lived his life and hid a lot of secrets. His patterns violate the emotional, moral, and spiritual principles that define my writing and my personal journey.

For the long answer I would write:

The Character I (the Author) that I am Least Likely to Get Along With in Book 5 is hands down.

    ⭐ Uncle Nicholas La Cour

    Yes—Nicholas.

    Not the villains.

    Not the manipulators.

    Not even the schemers.

It’s Uncle Nicholas, because he violates the #1 value I consistently uphold in my series:

Truth must come to the light—no matter how difficult.

What would the main character in your book have to say about you?

The main character in my story would say that I am more like Grand Mère (Aurélie La Cour) because just as Grand Mère carries the emotional compass of the La Cour family, I also carry that emotional compass in my life.

And just as Grand Mère understands the old secrets… but she ALSO believes in healing and evolution.

I also believe in the same.

Do you want each book to stand on its own, or are you trying to build a body of work with connections between each book?

I’ve always envisioned my Lovers, Players & Seducers series as a tapestry—one where each book is a complete picture on its own, yet together they form a much larger portrait of the La Cour family and their world. Every novel in the series can be picked up independently and fully enjoyed, because each story has its own arc, its own emotional storm, and its own resolution. I write them that way intentionally.

But beneath that independence, the books are also deeply connected. They share a heartbeat: the ongoing history, secrets, and triumphs of the La Cour family—one of the most powerful, complex, and resilient families living in the heart of the Tech Capital of America, Silicon Valley.

The La Cours carry legacy, privilege, heritage, and pain, and I explore how each generation handles these burdens in their own way. The series follows not just romantic journeys, but the evolution of a family trying to thrive in a high-pressure world shaped by wealth, innovation, ambition, and sometimes betrayal.

Readers who follow the entire series will notice threads weaving through each book—whispers of old family secrets, unresolved truths, and emotional wounds that echo from one generation to the next. These recurring elements deepen the story universe and give longtime fans those satisfying moments of recognition: “Ah, this is connected to what happened in Book 2,” or “Now I finally understand Nicholas’s choice…”

As the author, I love giving readers a world where they feel both grounded and curious—where each book satisfies yet leaves room for new discoveries in the next. I write each story with the intention that it can stand proudly on its own, but when read together, the emotional impact becomes richer, fuller, and far more powerful.

So yes, each book is its own journey, but the series as a whole is a legacy—one that follows the La Cour family through love, loss, identity, and the ever-shifting landscape of Silicon Valley. And with every new installment, I hope readers feel the connection strengthening, the family tree growing, and the truth slowly—but inevitably—coming to light.
