Hitched
The Red Shoe Memoirs #1
By Karpov Kinrade
Published November 23rd 2014 by Daring Books

Blurb:

What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas...

Or it changes your life forever.

He called me "wife."

This man standing naked in front of me. Tall. Dark. Sexy as sin...

He's my husband?

Disjointed images from the night before, the night I can’t entirely remember, float into my mind.

Meeting him in the bar. Sharing tidbits of our lives. I own a company that plans bachelor parties. He’s a pediatric heart surgeon.

We both live in Las Vegas, but we come from very different worlds.

And then I remember that kiss. The way his lips brushed against mine, gentle at first, then harder, deeper, with more urgency.

Sex in the elevator. Hot, forbidden, delicious.

I remember the way he made me feel. The way our bodies fit perfectly together.

But I don’t remember marrying him.

And now, he won’t let me go. Dr. Sexy who saves children for a living. He wants the summer to prove we are meant to be.

I can give him a summer.

But can I give him a lifetime?

*This is a contemporary romance novel with a happily ever after. It does NOT have a cliff-hanger ending.

WARNING: This book contains a lot of sex and a lot of swearing. Visit ReadKK.com for more Karpov Kinrade bestselling books. Watch for more stand alone steamy romances in The Red Shoe Memoirs, coming soon.

My Review:

I received a free copy of the book from the author for my honest opinion.

For most of her life all Kacie wanted was to finish high school go to college and then get away from her home town. So after college Kacie her brother Tate and best friend Vi move to Las Vegas where Kacie and Tate start their own business planning bachelor parties. With the right amount of money they can come up with all kinds of different things for the parties and in a very short time. They are just getting their business up and running and right now that is all Kacie is thinking about. But of course she hopes to find a good man fall in love, get married and maybe have a couple of kids. But of course that is many, many years down the road.

Kacie, Tate and Vi all like to go out and have a good time at the clubs in Vegas. Tate is like a playboy breaking quite a few women's hearts. They all get dressed up and head out to a club to have some fun and party like it is 1999. After partying all night Kacie wakes up in a very expensive hotel room and while she looking for her clothes she happens to a piece of paper on the night stand. She picks it up to have a look at it and is shocked at what she sees written on it but then it does explain the ring she spots on her finger. As she is trying to figure out what she did the night before her very sexy date walks out of the bathroom and she sees a matching ring on his finger. While Kacie can't remember everything they did the night before Dr. Sexy does. While Kacie is trying to figure it all out Dr. Sexy gets an emergency phone call and has to leave.

Kacie thinks she has lost her mind by marrying someone she just met. After giving it a lot of thought she decides to get the marriage annulled. Well Dr. Sexy has other plans for the two of them. Dr. Sexy doesn't want to have the marriage annulled he wants to spend the rest of his life with Kacie. Although she is very attracted to the very hot Dr. she is not ready to be married. She is afraid that she will lose who she is if she is married. She doesn't want to be Dr. Sexy's wife she wants to be Kacie the party planner.

I fell in love with all of the characters in Hitched and can't wait to read more of their stories in future books. While I would love to see Tate find himself a good woman to love and Vi deserves a good man too. But I would love to read in the next book is Dr. Sexy's side of the story. You know about their wedding night and about their wedding ceremony. What about his family and his life as a Dr? What was happening in his life as Kacie was planning parties and trying to decide what to do about their future together? Do they have a future together?

If you have not read Hitched then I am here to tell you, you do not know what you are missing. You need to grab your copy today and start reading it ASAP. Yes it is a fast read but all that tells you is that it is a very hot read. I am very thankful to the authors for providing me with a copy of the book to read. Hitched is not the first book by this duo that I have read. I have loved every book by them that I have read.

He passed me and entered the hallway, directing me back the way I'd come. The house was silent, no sign of the woman that escorted me the first time.

When we reached the foyer he paused. "As much as I appreciate your concern, please do not follow me again, Nadya. It isn't safe."

"Safe? What do you mean?" From our close proximity I could see that the injury on his face had fully healed. I dropped my eyes to his chest, but there was no evidence of a bandage under his thin shirt. Without thinking I reached forward, more curious than I'd ever been, but he stepped deftly away and my hand grasped nothing but air.

"Goodnight," he said, opening the door.

The rain had finally passed and I stepped out into the muggy night. I turned to say goodbye, but instead heard the loud snap of the solid wood door as it closed in my face.

 photo Peyton.jpg

At seventeen years old, Peyton is the oldest Diamond sister. She's been hurt in the past, but because of it, has developed a thick skin. She will do anything for her sisters, going as far as protecting them from their mom's outbursts and getting home first from school to make sure everything in the house (including their mom) is ready for them. She's tough, doesn't trust easily, and while she has many people she hangs out with, the only people who she feels truly know her are her sisters. She doesn't like school (she gets restless sitting in classrooms!) and can't wait until graduation so she'll be done forever.

Peyton's a natural night owl, and waking up in the morning is a constant struggle. (Her sisters usually resort to throwing things at her to wake her up, and often yell at her to hurry up showering so they can have time for their morning routines, too.) She needs at least three cups of coffee to get going. She loves rock music, and can usually be found with an earbud attached to her ear, even during her classes. She loves partying and dancing and getting lost in the music. She also enjoys an occasional chill night of movies and television shows, as long as it's not a rom-com chick flick.

She wears mostly black clothing-why bother with colors when black always looks hot on her? Her nails are usually painted black as well. She's not afraid to speak up for what she believes in and she will always stand up for her sisters. She tries to not let anyone in to avoid getting hurt-but really she just wants to find that one person who cares enough to break down her walls.

Excerpt:
Two sets of footsteps clipped across on the cobblestone. Before they rounded the bend to the stable door, Raven's fingers twitched over her knife. When she saw Gorman and the younger baron, she relaxed and continued attaching her weapons.

"Can I trust you?" Baron Darius's voice rose hesitantly as he approached.

She smiled. "I've saved your life once and promise to do it as many times as necessary."

"Why?"

"It's the reaper's way. A life for a life."

"How many have you killed?"

Raven clinched her jaw. "Too many." Her gaze met the butler's. "Will he have his own horse?"

"No. The young master's condition makes him subject to untimely fits. He would be in danger of falling." His ice blue eyes held a fire unmatched by his frozen features.

"Right. I expected as much." She placed her boot in the stirrup and mounted. "Hand him to me then.

The butler lifted him to the front of her saddle. She knew it would be an uncomfortable place to ride for a long period of time, but he'd only have to make it to Gregory's house. On a horse, it should only be about four hours if they took it slow, less than three if needed.

A horn sounded, and the butler paled. "It's him. The duke approaches."

"Father is early." The boy sounded happy but tentative.

Gorman gripped the horse's rein and turned it toward the other stable exit. "We must leave by the north gate. The duke approaches from the south. You may have as much as an hour's head start before he commands a pursuit."

Raven swallowed hard. "That's not enough time."

"Follow me." He released the rein and jogged forward.

The horse trotted in response. Even in the jarring up and down motion of the trot, the young baron remained silent. He gripped the chestnut mare's mane with both hands. His knuckles glowed white under the lamps. Raven pulled gently on the reins to slow the horse to a more tolerable speed but followed the butler closely.

"Guards!" Gorman reached the gates, speaking in breathless tones. "Baron Solomon orders passage for this woman and the young baron."

Raven recognized Grant's red band before he turned around. He narrowed his eyes at her and barked the order to open the gate. Before she could urge her horse forward, Grant gripped the bridle by the cheek piece. He called back toward the butler, "Will she need guard?"

"That will not be necessary. She is capable of caring for the young baron on his errand."

Even in the half-light, Raven could see the guard's jaw tighten and nostrils flare in indecision. "Baron Solomon trusts this woman?"

The butler frowned and stiffened in disapproval. Still he answered softly, "Yes, with his brother's life."
