Friday Recommends #16

Photobucket

Friday Recommends is a weekly meme hosted by Pen to Paper. This a weekly book blog hop where we as bloggers choose a book that we have read and recommend it to our fellow bloggers. We can then visit each others blogs to see what other bloggers recommend and find new books to add to our TBR list. Hopefully we all will have new followers from visiting each blog on the linky list.

The rules for Friday Recommends are:

  • Follow Pen to Paper as host of the meme.
  • Please consider adding the blog hop button to your blog somewhere, so others can find it easily and join in too! Help spread the word! The code will be at the bottom of the post under the linky.
  • Pick a book that you've read, and have enjoyed enough to recommend to other readers. It can be a book you've read recently, or a book you read years ago - it's up to you - but make sure you tell us why you love the book (like a mini review). You make the post as long or as short as you like.
  • Add your blog to the linky at the bottom of post on host site Pen to Paper after posting your blog post.
  • Put a link back to pen to paper (http://vogue-pentopaper.blogspot.com) somewhere in your post.
  • Visit the other blogs and enjoy!

My Recommend for this week:

Darkness Breaks (Darkness Falls, #2)

Title: Darkness Breaks (Darkness Falls #2)
Author: Jessica Sorensen
Paperback:
Pages: 300
Published: June 4th 2012
Publisher: createspace

Goodreads synopsis:

Kayla made her choice and now she has to live with it. She stays with the Day Takers, hiding in the city, staking vampires. But fighting vampires as a human is difficult.

Sylas constantly pressures Kayla to choose the life of a Day Taker. But until Kayla knows what Monarch is planning, she can’t make her choice. Plus there’s Aiden. No matter how hard she tries, she can’t stop thinking about him.

As Kayla’s memories resurface, the pieces of her history unfold. She learns of Cell 7, a place that Kayla believes holds the answers to the creation of the virus. But getting to Cell 7 is a dangerous mission. And with Kayla's strength weakening, it's one mission she might not make it through alive.

My Thoughts

The Darkness Falls Series is one of the best stories of vampires that I think I have ever read. The vampires are very different from vampires in most other stories. Most of the other vampire books they are very hot and sexy but not these. They are ugly and gross more like zombies in a post-apocalyptic world. Usually it is zombies in post-apocalyptic world and not vampires. I am eagerly awaiting the arrival of Darkness Fades the 3rd book in the series. Hopefuly with Darkness Fades we will find out how the virus started and if they can cure it or at least prevent it from happening again.

My Review:

Kayla leaves Aiden's little group to go stay with Sylas' and his group the Day Takers. Day Takers are vampires that can be out in the daytime, they just have to stay covered up. Kayla needs the help of Emmy a Day Taker to get her memories back. But Kayla finds out that she doesn't have all of her memories in her own head. Some of her memories are in Aiden's head. She will have to go see Aiden to get her memories back with Ryder's help this time.

Kayla has to find the cure for the virus that turned everyone into vampires. When she gets some of her memories back she remembers about a place that is called Cell 7. She believes that Cell 7 has all the answers to finding the cure for the virus. But getting to Cell 7 will be a perilous journey thru a city filled with vampires. Being human makes a trip thru the city harder for Kayla than if she was a Day Taker.

Sylas and Kayla are growing closer together. Their feelings for each other are becoming stronger. Kayla still thinks about Aiden and cares about him a lot. Aiden only wants to take care of Kayla and make sure that she is safe. Sylas is very straight up with Kayla he won't lie to her. Sylas wants Kayla to become a Day Taker but Aiden wants her to stay human. Sylas believes being a Day Taker is the only way to survive. Kayla is not sure that she wants to be a Day Taker, at least until she finds the cure.

The Darkness Falls Series is one of the best stories of vampires that I think I have ever read. The vampires are very different from vampires in most other stories.
