Blurb:
Ten
years of applications. Five seats a year. Izzy Harper finally got her
yes. A masterclass at a Swiss abbey older than most countries, taught
by a legend. The legend didn't survive the first day.
Dr.
Anselm Brandt taught by taking people apart. One morning in his
kitchen and the room had learned to fear him. By lunch he was dead in
his quarters, and nobody seemed sorry.
They want it called
natural. Doors that stood open at breakfast are locked by afternoon,
and no one leaves the city until the death is closed. Izzy stood in
that room. She knows the tidy version is a lie.
Noodle
walked her to the body before anyone knew to look for one. Since
then, his nose keeps leading them to what this abbey doesn't want
found.
The
monastery has kept its secrets for a thousand years. Izzy has been
here two days, and she's already holding one worth killing for.
The
mystery in this book resolves on its own. The story around it runs
deeper. New readers will enjoy it as a standalone, but it's far
better after the first two books in the series.
My Review:
Izzy Harper has spent years trying to snag a coveted seat in a prestigious masterclass at a Swiss abbey, and her time has finally come! With her trusty companion Noodle by her side, Izzy is off to Switzerland. But let’s be honest—wherever Izzy goes, a murder is bound to follow, and Switzerland is no exception!
They’ve barely arrived before they stumble upon a shocking discovery: her teacher, Dr. Anselm Brandt, is dead. Did the good doctor pass away from natural causes, or was it foul play? Izzy doesn’t believe for a single second that his death was natural, and both the evidence and Noodle's sharp instincts point straight to murder! The hunt for the truth plunges Izzy into a thrilling web of deeply buried secrets—secrets that someone is desperately trying to keep hidden at any cost. As Izzy digs deeper into her teacher’s demise, her investigation pulls her closer and closer to her own dangerous end!
The more I read, the more absolutely captivating Murder at Saint Gall Abbey became! I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough as I tried to help Izzy and Noodle piece together exactly what happened to Dr. Brandt. Was he really that terrible of a teacher, or did he simply know too much? The incredible suspense, the gripping mystery, and the driving need to uncover the motive kept me completely hooked from start to finish. I highly recommend grabbing a copy of Murder at Saint Gall Abbey if you are looking for your next thrilling, unputdownable mystery to solve!
