Love in B Minor
Elodie Nowodazkij
(Broken Dreams #3)
Publication date: March 15th 2016
Genres: Contemporary, New Adult, Romance

No promises. No fake tomorrows. That was the plan.
New city. New life. At least, that’s what nineteen-year-old Jen Harrison believes. On the surface, she’s living her dream: dancing in a prestigious dance company in Paris. But her sister’s death and the mistakes she’s tried to bury haunt her. She’s become a pro at hiding who she truly is, and she definitely doesn’t want a guy to derail her, but a one night-stand she can do. Nothing more. She definitely doesn’t plan to see the sexy stranger who made her laugh for the first time in years ever again.
Girls don’t walk away from Lucas Wills. Bad boy turned rock star, he’s got his share of groupies. Always upfront, he doesn’t promise fake tomorrows because love can destroy everything. Been there, done that. His ex not only lied to him, she stomped on his heart, used him to become famous, and almost ruined him. So, waking up alone after a night beyond his wildest imagination with a girl he just met shouldn’t upset him, shouldn’t inspire one of the saddest songs he’s ever written, shouldn’t make him want to chase after her.
When Jen, the one-night stand who got away, auditions to be a dancer in Lucas’ next music video, they can’t stop their growing attraction. But Jen’s secrets and his ex could shatter the careers they tried so hard to build and their hearts…they will have to decide what’s more important and if love is worth the fight.
Love in B Minor is the third standalone novel in Elodie Nowodazkij’s Broken Dreams series.

EXCERPT:

And his laughter booms in the quiet night. And seeing him laugh makes me want to smile right along with him. And I want to hold on to that feeling a bit longer. One of my hands slowly reaches out and my fingers trail down his cheek while my other hand falls on his knee. He stops laughing. His gaze turns hungry.

“I’m not really thirsty anymore,” I whisper. Our eyes lock. The tension crackling between us gets even more intense. He leans in and I hold my breath. We’re lost in the moment, in the anticipation, in that one second. That one second before a first kiss. I bridge the tiny distance between us and when our lips meet, I breathe again.

His lips are strong and soft.

My body melts into his despite the layers. One of his hands caresses my back and I press myself against him, wishing I could feel his skin against mine. His tongue slips inside my mouth, teasing mine into a playful dance. His other hand cups my face and I could stay like this forever. But I want more. And what I have in mind probably shouldn’t happen outside.

We might get arrested.

But I don’t want to end the night here and now.

I don’t want this night to end at all.

Author Bio:
I began my love of romance novels in my early twenty's when I first read books by LaVryle Spencer and Julie Garwood. Since then, I became an avid reader and have now turned to writing books myself. I love to get lost in the journey that two people can take in a romance novel and watching their lives and love unfold within the pages. I love the conflict, the battles of will and of course, the steamy side of the relationship.

Virtual Tour + #Review + #Giveaway: This Would Be Paradise by N. D. Iverson @GoddessFish

This Would Be Paradise
by N. D. Iverson
GENRE: Post-Apocalyptic

BLURB:

In a world where a virus has spread turning most of the population into flesh eating monsters, there are two friends partying it up in New Orleans when the infection hits. Far away from home, they are trapped and trying to make sense of all that has happened with the help of new friends and enemies along the way. Zombies aren't the only thing to fear...

EXCERPT:

The doors opened with a buzzing sound. The main lobby was devoid of people; even the receptionist behind the front desk was gone. Usually there was at least one person standing there with the phone glued to an ear. Did I sleep through a fire alarm or something?

I slowly made my way to the buffet area, looking around for a sign of life. Everything was set up but looked like it hadn’t been touched. Strange, considering it was already afternoon. Normally stale cereal and that one scary looking sausage that seemed to have been there all week would be all that was left by now.

I poured myself some coffee from the giant stainless steel percolator, watching the steam waft up from the foam cup. The smell alone helped invigorate my dulled senses. Sipping the hot liquid, I started to look around to figure out what was going on and maybe see about some maid service. We weren’t messy people, but somehow our hotel rooms always managed to look like a disaster zone – overflowing garbage, towels on the ground, running out of the mini-shampoo bottles sized for the head of an infant.

All the tables in the dining area were open, no one sitting around enjoying the mediocre hotel-provided food. I felt my hackles rise. Usually there was at least one person or group in here at all times. A noise that sounded like someone eating caught my attention and I stepped over to the booths that lined the wall.

“Hello?” I called out as I rounded the tall booths.

The sight that greeted me was not what I had expected. A woman covered in what appeared to be blood, was kneeling over a larger mass on one side of the booth. Her shirt was torn down the front revealing her daisy spotted bra and deep scratch marks on her chest. She snarled at me, flecks of whatever she’d been eating spraying from her red stained lips. I took a big step back.

She slowly got up from the booth, all her attention now focused on me like I had just insulted her outfit. I could see the thing she was on before much more clearly now. Holy shit, holy shit, holy shit! It was a man. There was a gaping hole in the body cavity, knotted intestines dangled down the side. I retched at the sight. Did I unknowingly step onto the set of a horror movie?

The woman had managed to get herself out of the booth, slipping a little on the blood coated floor. The coffee fell from my hand, as she started toward me, her face contorted into a feral mask. I took off running back the way I’d come, my earlier fatigue forgotten as adrenaline pumped through my veins.

My Review:

I love reading books about zombies and when I read the summary for This Would Be Paradise I knew I had to read it. I loved going along with Bailey and Zoe on their adventure through the zombie apocalypse. I liked reading and seeing everything through Bailey’s pov. It took her a while to catch up with what was going on around her but when she did she knew it was time to hit the road.

Bailey and Zoe are a long way from home when the virus hits. They are just two young women/girls who came to New Orleans for Mardi Gras. At first they are not sure what is happening and don’t know what to do. When they finally figure out what is going on they try to reach their families but no one is answering the phone or all service is down or busy.

They meet a few other people on their way out of town; a guy named Ethan and his little sister Chloe. Ethan invites them to go stay with them at their cabin. With nowhere else to go they decide that going with Ethan and Chloe would be in their best interest for the time being.

I loved all the characters especially Bailey and little Chloe. I loved how Bailey dealt with killing the zombies and her reaction to each kill. She is amazing. I can’t wait for the next book to read more about Bailey, Chloe, Zoe, Ethan and all of the other characters. I loved the world that the author created for Bailey and Chloe.

AUTHOR BIO:

N. D. Iverson is young author trying to find her niche in the world. She has a business degree; to which she is still trying to find a practical application for. She has bounced from half-baked ideas of becoming a forensic pathologist (cut short when the option for attending an autopsy came up and she rather quickly decided maybe that wasn't for her), a member of a rock band (sadly, neither her nor her friends could play instruments or sing, not that it's a requirement these days...) and many more.

This Would Be Paradise is her first completed book, which has started a chain reaction of one-too-many book ideas dancing around in her head. She plans on wrangling in these ideas and making full fledged books from them. So keep an eye out on the horizon for more works to come! EXCERPT:

Mom hurried to put in a load of wash and organize dinner. Her focus was usually like a laser beam, but on this afternoon, she had spaced out that I was in the house. When I picked up the kitchen phone to call Joyce, I overheard her talking from her bedroom extension.

“No, no, you’re not listening,” the man said in an upset voice.  I recognized the voice of Charlie Diggs.

“I am listening,” my mother insisted.

“Julia nags me, day and night, about her biological clock.”

“I thought you two agreed you weren’t having children.”

“We did agree. Isn’t that the point? She doesn’t even realize when she changes her mind.”

“I’m sorry she makes you miserable.”

“Louis doesn’t know how lucky he is,” Charlie added. “Jesus, what you have to go through with him. He should treat you better, Gloria.  Does he know how much I love you? Why can’t you get up the courage and tell him?”

“Oh, Charlie, poor Charlie,” my mother responded whenever his voice fell silent.

Mom was still on the phone when I burst into her room. She knew instantly that I’d heard everything. Charlie was still talking as she hung up.

“Mom, what are you doing?! What’s going on?!” My face was hot and cold at the same time.

All she could do was stare back helplessly, like a ghost haunting her own life.
