Interview with David Amerland

How did publishing your first book change your process of writing?

I learnt to plan. The first major book I wrote was “SEO Help” in 2010. I knew the subject thoroughly and I had done a ton of presentations to company executive workshops so I sort of launched into it and organically went from start to finish. I soon realized that had I planned it better it would have been a better book and an easier process. Planning creates structure and structure generates meaning for the reader as each chapter is designed to do something specific for them. It’s a lesson I took on board from then on.

What was an early experience where you learned that language had power?

I was 12. I won a debating contest at school. My words and the arguments I presented swayed an entire class to see my point of view. I have never forgotten that.

What one thing would you give up to become a better writer?

No contest. My soul! Being the best writer possible, being able to communicate in ways that shape people’s minds and affect their lives is nothing less than magical.

Tell us a little about yourself? Perhaps something not many people know?

I have been living online for such a long time now that I think most things about me are public knowledge. One thing I’ve talked about only very recently and not to many people is that my first grounding in ethics, morality and how to tell right from wrong came through reading comic books.

If you had to do something differently as a child or teenager to become a better writer as an adult, what would you do?

Nothing. The path I took has taken me to where I am now and I am very happy with where I am now and who I am. I wouldn’t change anything!

What is the biggest surprise that you experienced after becoming a writer?

It’s still funny how no matter how successful you get no one of your friends thinks it’s a real job. They all talk about my keynote speaker role and my multi-national consulting but none think that writing is something just as, if not more, serious.

Could you tell us a bit about your most recent book and why it is a must-read?

The foundation of our life. The dreams we have, the achievements we reach are predicated on our body and brain being able to function well. We need good health to be successful and feel happy. “Built To Last” is a blueprint that helps you make fitness fit your life instead of the other way around and because of that it makes lifelong fitness possible.

Review: The Encantado's Kiss: A Monster Brides Romance by Lilliana Rose @LillianaRose2

The Encantado's Kiss

A Monster Brides Romance

by Lilliana Rose

Published: September 15, 2025

Genre: Psychic Paranormal Romance, Magic Romance

Blurb:

To save my dying sister, I must break the most sacred law of the Encantados—never surface in the human world.

As a pink river dolphin shifter, setting foot on land means risking permanent exile. But Inaiá’s life hangs by a thread, and only a mythical human-world flower can save her. Desperate and armed with ancient magic, I trade my fins for feet.

That’s when I crash—literally—into Caio.

He’s human. Forbidden. And yet his kindness disarms me, and his touch sparks something I’ve never known. A connection that defies logic… and law.

But his world is dangerous. And the magic I carry draws enemies from both sides of the water. Caught between saving my sister, protecting the man I’m falling for, and facing the wrath of my queen, I stand on the edge of war.

If I fail, the cost won’t just be my heart—but the future of both our worlds.

My Review:

Luzia, a pink river dolphin shifter's sister, Inaiá’s life hangs in the balance. Their healer has exhausted all efforts to save her, but to no avail. The only potential solution lies in the realm of humans.

It is strictly prohibited for a dolphin shifter to enter the human domain, as doing so would incur the queen's wrath and banishment. However, Luzia is prepared to risk everything if it means she could save her sister.

Upon stepping into the human world, Luzia encounters a human right away. Caio is a kind and charming individual to whom Luzia feels an immediate attraction the moment she sees him. An enigmatic, magical bond forms between them instantly. Luzia is ready to face exile from her clan for the sake of this man and to rescue Inaiá.

The Encantado's Kiss was a delightful and enchanting read that captivated me from the very first page and kept its grip on me until the end. In fact, I doubt it will release me even then. The moment I started reading The Encantado's Kiss, I became immersed in its world, and now it will remain a part of my life forever.

I eagerly anticipate reading more in this enchanting realm of the Monster Brides Romance series. Additionally, I am excited to discover what lies ahead in the next chapter. I enjoyed The Encantado's Kiss so thoroughly that I wholeheartedly recommend grabbing a copy today to embark on a sweet and magical adventure with a pink river dolphin shifter!

Audiobook Tour: Trailridge: A Guy Hogan Mystery by Kevin Wolf @RABTBookTours

Mystery

Date Published: Aug 1, 2025

Narrator: Greg O'Donahue

Run Time: 6 hours 24 minutes

Guy Hogan and his wife planned to share their dream home in Colorado but cancer his took her from him. The mountains became his refuge and each day he hoped the next cast of his flyrod will chase away his loneliness.

Then he finds a man’s body in his favorite trout stream.

Learning why the man died becomes a quest to fill his emptiness. Hogan befriends a young woman as empty as he. Their path leads to a ring of poachers killing elk for their antlers, a break neck car chase across the twist and turns of the highest paved road in the United States, and the fury of a mountain flash flood.

But the young woman is not what she seems. Will her deadly secrets force Hogan to become the very thing he despises? The challenge is as treacherous as Trail ridge Road.

Interview with Kevin Wolf

What is your favorite part of the book?

At the midpoint of the book, there is a midnight car chase across Trailridge Road in Rocky Mountain National Park. Trailridge is the highest (in elevation) continuous paved road in the US. The road rises from the river valleys through pine forest and continues across the treeless alpine tundra at elevations over 10,000 ft above sea level. I’ve driven Trailridge many times, and it was so fun to imagine the breakneck chase and weave the impressive landscape into the story.

Does your book have a lesson? Moral?

I intended the book to be entertaining. Deep inner meaning was far from my mind. But the protagonist, Guy Hogan, is a decent man. He is healing after the loss of his wife to cancer. The challenges he faces tempt him to do things contrary to how he’s lived his life. At one point, he needs to decide if the end justifies the means. Hogan makes the correct choice.

Are your characters based off real people or did they all come entirely from your imagination?

Is this the “Names have been changed to protect the innocent” question? The characters in everything I’ve written come from real people. I blend traits, personalities, and physical characteristics together to create the characters for the story. I must confess a part of me is there.

Of all the characters you have created, which is your favorite and why?

Hard question. Guy Hogan is one of the first characters I discovered. It took several years and other books before I could introduce him to readers. There is a disgraced newspaper reporter in my weird western series that I enjoy. From THE HOMEPLACE (my Tony Hillerman award winner) Chase Ford is close to the top of the list. And everyone loves Birdie Hawkins.

What character in your book are you least likely to get along with? Cadence Tait. I hate evil.

What would the main character in your book have to say about you? Guy Hogan would invite me to a stream in Rocky Mountain National Park for a day of fly fishing. We spend the day together and probably not say more than a dozen words to each other. It would be a very good day.

Do you want each book to stand on its own, or are you trying to build a body of work with connections between each book?

TRAILRIDGE is the first Guy Hogan Mystery. I plan to release the second book in the series this fall (2025) and have begun playing with ideas for book 3.

Excerpt:

Let’s go to the park,” Nate said.

We walked down the middle of the empty street because the sidewalks hadn’t been cleared yet. The new snow crunched under our boots. Nate put his arm around my shoulders. “Pretty night.”

Pretty, but freezing.” Freezing or not, it was still pleasant to be out walking with him, feeling the icy flick of snowflakes on my cheeks.

After a few minutes, I heard the noise of a car rolling along the snowy street behind us. It was coming faster than was wise, given how slippery the streets were. We moved to the side, but we couldn’t get all the way out of the street because of the drifts left by the plow.

And the car was speeding up.

What the hell?” It wasn’t a car but a pickup with a snowplow attachment on the front. And it wasn’t pulling over to get around us. It was driving straight for us.

Nate grabbed my hand. “We need to run.”

I thought about jumping over the drifts at the side, but they were almost three feet high, and if either of us slipped, we might roll into the path of the truck.

The truck’s headlights were full on, blinding me when I looked backward. My feet kept sliding in the snowy tracks. Nate’s hold on my arm slipped, so that he was holding onto my cuff.

Then I saw a break in the snow drift ahead of us. “There,” I panted. “Go there.”

Nate grabbed hold of me, dragging me toward the space. Then he turned and jumped, pulling me with him. The break in the snow wasn’t much, but it was enough to get us out of the street. I fell to my knees as Nate landed on his back. The truck swerved toward us, and I thought it would keep coming up onto the sidewalk after us. But then it hit the snowbank and bounced away again.

We both lay panting on the snow-covered sidewalk, listening to the truck roar down the street away from us.

My Review:

Roxy Constantine and Nate Robicheaux, a dynamic duo, specialize in catering weddings. They're currently juggling two major events – one for a client and the other for Roxy's uncle and Nate's mom, who are getting married.

The Wine Jelly Murder delves into the preparations for an engagement party and a wedding, with a special focus on Roxy's signature wine jelly that adds a delightful touch to the celebrations.

Tragedy strikes when the bride's father is mysteriously murdered at the engagement party. Determined to uncover the truth, Roxy launches an investigation that puts her in harm's way.

As she digs deeper, she uncovers more secrets about the father's business than she ever imagined. The captivating mystery and suspenseful twists will keep you hooked, eager to find out who wanted to harm the bride's father and why.

What kind of business was he involved in? Roxy's investigation promises to reveal all. If you're a fan of the Luscious Delights Mystery series, you won't want to miss The Wine Jelly Murder. Grab a copy and get ready for a delightful and thrilling ride!
