Nightfall is back trying to save the world and everyone in it no matter what it cost her or if she loses her life she is determined to save every living soul. But this time we get to see things from Nyx’s pov and learn more about who he is and where he came from and why he has the attitude that he does. You learn why he has a chip on his shoulder. When you read his story you can’t help but to like him and know that he is not such a bad person and that he actually has a heart of gold.

Nyx is back to help Nightfall to learn and help her to know what she needs to save the world from all the evil. Nightfall and Nyx both try to make everyone think that they are bada** but they are not. But they can give you a run for your money though.

Nightfall wants to be the best fighter now and to know what all she needs to know to save all the people now and she would like Nyx to tell her what she wants to know now. But Nyx has his own way of teaching her. He wants her to figure things out on her own so that she will know them and never forget them again. If she figures out what she needs to do all on her own then she will be so much better. She will be a better and stronger superhero. Nightfall has to learn patience if she is going to beat her enemy.

I loved reading things from Nyx’s pov and getting inside his head and heart to find that he just maybe a great big ole’ teddy bear. Night of Nyx was a great in between story to read until we wait for the next book in the series. Hopefully it will tide us over until the next one. I can’t wait to read more about Nyx, Nightfall, and Scarlett. I can’t wait to read more about their adventures and watch Nightfall learn and grow to mature.

My Review: HOUSE OF RAVENS (Book 2, The Nightfall Chronicles)

Scarlett Night is a Nephilim who lives a double life. As Scarlett Night she is just a human teenage girl just going to college during the day, training to be a Knights Templar. And at night she is Nightfall and like a super hero; a Nephilim with special abilities that no human has. Scarlett wants to make the world a better place for Zeniths, Nephilim, humans and anyone else out there they may be different. She wants everyone to treat each other the same and to open up their hearts and minds and grow to be a better soul. She wants to stop all the hate and killing someone just because they are different than they are. She wants the world to wake up and see that we are all one. Scarlett tries her best to see the good in every person that she comes in contact with. But it is almost impossible to find any good in someone who has an evil heart.

Scarlett meets a lot of new friends in her new life in and out of her new school. She meets some pretty amazing people at this new school that she has chosen to attend. She has their back while she has their backs all at the same time. Scarlett does run into some pretty difficult situations and decisions that she has to make. In a way I don't see how she could make the choice that she did. But at the same time I do think she made the right choice for everyone involved considering what the outcome could have been if she had went down another road. Scarlett has some amazing friends, have I already said that? Oh well it is true either way and sure doesn't hurt to say it over and over. Scarlett had a couple of great admires who cared for her more than their own lives. They would do or give up whatever they had to so they could keep her safe and alive.

HOUSE OF RAVENS is so full of twists and turns that I was getting very dizzy every time I turned a page. I felt as if there were so many hidden messages that were being dropped all over the place that I didn't know which way to turn myself. I was spinning and spinning so fast that I thought I was going to go right off the edge and step right into insanity trying to figure out what everyone was up to and what they were hiding.

I kept thinking who is Jax? What is his secret? Is he for or against Scarlett? Is he trying to protect her? Does he know who she really is? Why did he leave and where did he go? I hated that he told her he loved her and then just walked away. What was he thinking? What was he feeling?

What about Kai? What is his story? Is she for real? Does he really care or love Scarlett? Is he a pawn for his father, the king? What about Wytt and Corrine? Are they truly her friends? Whose side will they all be on in the end?

I highly recommend HOUSE OF RAVENS to anyone who loves reading about Nephilim's with a heroine that is learning who and what she is and what she can do. Scarlett is a very tough girl who has been through a lot and has had to grow up way before her time but she is strong and can handle herself and others well. Not only do I recommend HOUSE OF RAVENS and COURT OF NIGHTFALL the first book in The Nightfall Chronicles I would recommend you read any book that is written by this amazing duo; Karpov Kinrade..

Rose is a witch with dark powers that she doesn't know how to control. She shares a cottage with her best friend Ocean in what is called a community. The community is made up of friends that are like family. Her mother Rainbow and little sister Jasmine also live in this little community of a coven of witches. Rose is like any other woman and wants what they want like someone she can love and who can love her back. Because of her magic everyone shuns her and are afraid of what she can do to them.

Rose's mother Rainbow has a very evil and cruel heart. The only thing she cares about is her own power and that of the covens. She will use anyone or anything to gain more power. Rose with the help of Ocean is beginning to find out who and what kind of person her mother is. Rose is nothing like her mother and never wants to hurt anyone. Rainbow controls Rose and everyone else in the coven using them to her advantage and making them believe all her lies.

Knowing that her mother is wrong about her using her powers and after finally realizing that she can't hurt anyone ever again with her powers, Rose decides that she wants to learn how to fight so that she can defend her family. Rose and Ocean decide to take karate lessons in secret with her mother having any knowledge of it.

When Ocean and Rose walk into the karate studio to sign up for lessons they meet Derek a Druid/wolf shifter. Rose believes that the O'Conner's is attacking her and her family but she doesn't know that Derek is an O'Conner. Rose doesn't know that it is her family or mother that is attacking Derek's family.

Will Rose find out the truth about her mother? Can Derek and Rose stop the war between their families so that they can be together? This is the first book that I have read by Kimberly Kinrade and I can say that I truly loved it and can't wait to read more of her work. I really liked to reading Seduced by Innocence. I can't wait to start the next book Seduced by Pain. Can Derek forgive Rose? Will their love for each other be strong enough?

Seduced by Pain (Book 2)

In the second book Seduced by Pain of the Seduced Saga Derek has found out who Rose is and what she did to his brother Dean. Rose has to deal with the fact of what she can do with her dark powers and learn how to control them. She is determined to use her magic for good and not evil. Rose keeps calling Derek over and over but Derek won't talk to her. He feels guilty for loving her when his brother is in a coma that she put him in. Will Derek find it his heart to forgive Rose? Can she stop her mother from doing more evil before anyone else gets hurt?

Rose has learned that her mother is planning on using her as a sacrifice to help her gain more power. She has also found out that her mother has been hiding things from her. Things like who her real father is and what he is. Who is her father? What is her father? She now knows that Derek's family was not the ones who was attacking them and trying to kill her family.

Rose's heart is breaking because of what she did to Derek's brother and has realized that her mother manipulated her into using her magic against Dean. Her heart is also breaking into tiny little pieces because she thinks she has lost Derek. She thinks he will hate her because of who she is and what she did.

What Rose doesn't know and has no way of knowing is that Derek has a fantastic family with great big hearts. The O'Conner's don't blame her for what happen they know her heart is not like that. She is not evil like her mother. Besides they know her mother and what she is capable of doing. They are not the kind of people to judge anyone. They know that everyone is their own person and just because one person in the family may be bad does not make the other members bad too.

You know I think I liked Seduced by Pain more than the first book Seduced by Innocence. There were more magic and dark creatures. Once I started reading it I did not want to stop. I couldn't turn the pages fast enough. I was beside myself wanting to know what was going to happen to Rose and Derek next. I really loved both books and am just dying to read the next book in the Seduced Saga Seduced by Power due to be released this month, March 2013.

Seduced by Power (Book 3)

Rose Wintersong thought she could control the dark power she was born with.

She was wrong.

Now, the man she loves is trapped in a hell dimension and she will risk everything to save him. But what awaits her in hell is more than she imagined, as deadly secrets from her past come forth to claim her.

Rose is still trying to find a way to defeat her mother, Rainbow and to take back the rose bush that she stole from Derek's family. Not only does she have to worry with her mother she is also trying to find a way to get Derek's brother Dean's soul back at the same time.

When Rose and Derek are having sex Rose has to feel pain so that she won't send Derek's soul to hell also. But the pain is not enough anymore and she sends Derek's soul to hell as well. Rose's heart is broken over the fact that she has hurt the one that she loves. Rose is a very sweet and loving person and would never do anything to cause harm or hurt to anyone. Unless they are like her mother who does evil things to human beings then she will do what she has to, to stop them from hurting others. So now Rose has to find a way to save them all. Can she or will she be able to do what is necessary to save them? Is her heart that good?

While trying to save Derek and Dean Rose meets her farther and finds out who his is and also what he is a demon. Rose will have to go to hell herself to save Derek and Dean. She meets a demon in hell who helps her get their souls back. But she has to make a choice that could mean she will loose her life. Is she strong enough of a person to make this choice?

The demon Blake has fallen in love with Rose and although he is a demon he helps Rose knowing how she feels about him and also knowing that he can never be with her. In the beginning I really didn't care much for the demon Blake as with most demons he was out to help only himself but in the end he turned out to have a very good heart.

I have truly enjoyed reading all three of the Seduced Saga books. If asked which one I liked the best I could not say as I loved them all. And I highly recommend that you read all five books but I do suggest that you start with book #1 Seduced by Innocents and then book #2 Seduced by Pain. I cannot wait to read the next two books in the series Seduced by Lies book #4 and Seduced by Darkness #5.

Seduced by Lies (Book 4)

Everyone has secrets. Some secrets are more deadly than others.

Rose, Derek, Drake and Sam are all teaching kids that have paranormal powers. They are teaching them how to control them and how to use them. This new school of theirs is a lot different than the one that Sam lived and grew up in. All of the kids at this school are all there because they want to be. They are not against their will like Sam and her friends Lucy and Luke. The new school would not be possible without the help of Father Patrick the priest who owns the propriety the school is on. Drake and Sam have a beautiful little girl Ana whom they both love very much.

Everybody is so happy with their lives and the school until they find out that someone is killing kids with special powers. They all work so hard in trying to find out who is killing the kids with paranormal powers. They find evidence that shows that it is a wolf that is attacking the kids and killing them or that is what it looks like but what they are seeing may not be exactly what they think it is. But never fear the church is sending in help. They send a pope to help them investigate and find the killer.

I have read a lot of books written by this husband and wife duo and not a one of them has disappointed me. I have loved each and every one of them. I love all the characters in The Seduced Saga and The Forbidden Trilogy and was so thrilled to see Derek, Rose, Drake and Sam all together in Seduced by Lies. I was also glad that the twins Lucy and Luke make an appearance too.

If you love reading paranormal or about people with special powers then I know you will love The Seduced Saga and The Forbidden Trilogy as well. But I do recommend that you start with the first book in each series so that will you know what is going on and why they have all ended up where they are today and together. The authors do a fantastic job of explaining who the characters are and giving you their background stories from the other books at the beginning. You will get know and understand Derek and Rose better if you read Seduced by Innocence book #1, Seduced by Pain book #2 and Seduced by Power book #3 before reading Seduced by Lies book #4. The same goes for Sam and Drake if you read their stories in Forbidden Mind book #1, Forbidden Fire book #2 and Forbidden Life book #3.

Rose and Derek are back with us still fighting for all the things they believe in. They are just as much in love or more than they ever have been. They are still teaching at their school Elysium where they try to help and teach kids that have para powers as well. They each have different things/subjects that they teach the kids besides helping them to learn how to use, control and maybe understand their powers. Drake and Sam from The Forbidden Trilogy along with their little girl Ana are still with us as well. Drake and Sam are still helping out with the kids at Elysium.

Rose and Derek have their own personal problems that they have to deal with that is just between the two of them while at the same time someone is still killing people, adults and kids/teens that have any kind of para powers. No one knows who is trying to kill all these people and them too. Along with the personal issue between the two of them; they also have to deal with their own separate personal problems. Rose is having trouble shifting so she asks Talon to teach her how to control her shifting.

Drake and Sam are having problems with their own new abilities as well. Like everyone else they are trying to find whoever it is that is killing anyone with para powers. Plus the Nightfall Queen is looking for them because they disobeyed one of her rules and now they must answer to her. They have to go before her so that she can judge them and decided if or what their punishment may be. Drake and Sam are also worried about Ana and her powers and how strong they are for someone so young and the wrong person finding out.

I have really and truly loved reading both The Seduced Saga and The Forbidden Trilogy. As I have said before I loved each and every one of the characters in both series and was so glad to see Sam and Drake from The Forbidden Trilogy join Derek and Rose in The Seduced Saga. I am sad to see The Seduced Saga and The Forbidden Trilogy end. I am going to miss all the characters especially Rose, Derek, Drake, Sam, Ana, Luke, Lucy, Ocean, Father Patrick, Toby and everyone else.

Have you read The Seduced Saga or The Forbidden Trilogy? If you have not then I would like to recommend that you do and soon if you like paranormal. You will be taken on the best ride of your life and one that you will not regret or forget for a long, long time. This writing duo is one of my favorite writing teams and I have loved each and every book by them that I have read. This is another writing duo that I cannot read enough of their work and want to read everything they write. I am sitting on pins and needles just waiting to see what they come up with next. If you love reading paranormal or about people with special powers then I know you will love TheSeduced Saga and TheForbidden Trilogy as well. But I do recommend that you start with the first book in each series so that will you know what is going on and why they have all ended up where they are today and together. The authors do a fantastic job of explaining who the characters are and giving you their background stories from the other books at the beginning. You will get know and understand Derek and Rose better if you read Seducedby Innocence book #1, Seducedby Pain book #2 and Seducedby Power book #3 before reading Seduced by Lies book #4. The same goes for Sam and Drake if you read their stories in Forbidden Mind book #1, Forbidden Fire book #2 and ForbiddenLife book #3.

My Review:

I received a free copy of the book from the author for my honest opinion.

We first met Vi in Hitched book #1 of The Red Shoe Memoirs. Vi is best friends with Kacie and Tate, twins in Hitched who own their own business Hitched where they cater bachelor & bachelorette parties. Vi used to be a Dom but now she owns her toy store which is called Whipped that is toys for adults.

Vi likes to have sex and she likes to be in control in the bedroom as you could say. Vi likes to play little games with her men folk in the bedroom it turns her on. She has never liked to be a sub. Sometimes she will bring a sub home with her to have a little fun with. Vi also likes to try out the merchandise at her store. She has to test out the products so that she knows that she is getting the best for her customers.

Vi runs into a little trouble with paying some bills after giving her being a Dom and opening up Whipped. When you first open a new business it is always a little slow. It takes time to build up a good solid business clientele. So the only thing Vi can think of doing to help pay the bills is to get herself a roommate. 

When her new roommate shows up at her condo looking all hot she may just change her mind about not being a sub. When a guy is that hot and he is running around in your apartment half naked most of the time and you are an ex Dom I can see where that could turn into a problem. Yeah after a while you're going to be like who cares who is in control just give me some of that and I mean right now.

Lachlan, Vi's new roommate is a male stripper and he comes into Vi's store an awful lot to buy a few sex toys. Every time he shows up in her store he has a different woman hanging off him every time. There is more to Lachlan than Vi and probably most folks knows about Lachlan besides that he is an Aussie hottie. Lachlan has things that he wants to do for the young kids in the community.

I have read almost every book that Karpov Kinrade has written and I don't think that there was a one of them that I did not like. I loved them all. KK has a writing style that will rock your world. The first book in The Red Shoe Memoirs Hitched was awesome but so was Whipped. I loved both books and can't really say which one I liked the best. But I have really enjoyed reading Whipped I don't think I have laughed so hard in a long time. I would laugh right out loud and I would be the only one in the room. 

But when my stepson came home for the weekend I was reading Whipped and as I was walking to the door to let him in I was laughing all the way to the door and he ask me when he came in what I was laughing at and I just told him it was something I read. I didn't want to put it down all weekend but there were times when I had no choice especially when both of my stepsons and one of their girlfriends was visiting. There were times that I laughed so hard I was hurting.

If you haven't had the chance to read Whipped yet or Hitched either then I think that you should especially if you need a good laugh. The characters will keep you rolling with the things that they say or research on the internet. I can't wait for the next book in The Red Shoe Memoirs. I can't wait to see what this author duo comes up with next. I know whatever it is I will love it. Keep 'em coming KK. You write 'em and we will read 'em.

An Interview with Alisse Lee Goldenberg

What inspired you to write The Dybbuk's Mirror?

I wrote this novel as a sequel to my book The Strings of the Violin. I had always envisioned this as a trilogy (though I may have more coming), The Dybbuk's Revenge is intended as a third part. I originally wrote these books as an homage to the stories and fairy tales I grew up with. While most kids I knew were hearing Little Red Riding Hood and Snow White, I was hearing about dybbuks and the shretelech. I wanted to take these stories and make them accessible and relatable to a knew generation of readers.

When or at what age did you know you wanted to be a writer?

I always knew I wanted to write. As soon as a could verbally form a sentence I was making up stories!

What is the earliest age you remember reading your first book?

I remember reading Goldilocks and the Three Bears in kindergarten, and by the first grade I had graduated do to the book A Little Princess by Frances Hodgson Burnett. That one has stayed with me and a reread it every so often. I can't wait until my kids are old enough to sit through a book without pictures. I've tried, but they get restless.

What genre of books do you enjoy reading?

I enjoy all styles of books, but I have a soft spot for fantasy, and any book featuring the character if Sherlock Holmes.

What is your favorite book?

It has to be The Sparrow by Mary Doria Russell. It has a real ability to get into your mind and stay there. I must have read it at least a dozen times by now. I love a book that you can read multiple times and find knew ways to relate to the characters.

You know I think we all have a favorite author. Who is your favorite author and why?

I adore Charles De Lint. His Newford books and stories are amazing. The ways he interweaves mythology, folk lore and city life is amazing. His grasp of character is something ideally look up to as a writer.

If you could travel back in time here on earth to any place or time. Where would you go and why?

I would love to go back to Elizabethan England, if only to see a live premiere of a Shakespearean play. I know it would probably smell horrible, but being a groundling at one of those in the original. Globe Theatre would be awesome!

When writing a book do you find that writing comes easy for you or is it a difficult task?

Usually, it comes easily for the first draft. I usually start with an outline of where I want the story to go, so it's only a matter of following the map I laid out for myself, but editing is horrible! I always second guess every decision I made. With regard to the third book I this series, I am seriously questioning something I did. I finally had to just suck it up, since it was best for the characters and story and tell myself to stop picking at it!

Do you have any little fuzzy friends? Like a dog or a cat? Or any pets?

I do! I have a 95 lb Goldendoodle. We named him Sebastian, but the kids have declared him a horse and have renamed him Galahad.

What is your "to die for", favorite food/foods to eat?

I love a good greasy, cheesy pizza. However, when it comes to snacking or "writing" food, I have to go with tostitos and guacamole.

Do you have any advice for anyone that would like to be an author?

I'd say to just do it. Put that pen to paper and tell you story. I believe that everybody has a story to tell, it's just a matter of finding the right words. Also, don't let people tell you it's impossible. Nothing is impossible.
