Release Date: March 2016

Summary from Goodreads:
When sixteen year-old Jules Verity, who suffers from what her best friend calls "Psychic Tourette's Syndrome" (spontaneous outbursts of seemingly absurd prophecies that she can't control) takes a job at a castle turned dinner theater known as Tudor Times, all she wants is the chance to make some money, wear a fancy gown, and ogle gorgeous-but-taken Grayson Chandler from afar. Instead she's forced to wear the most mortifying costume ever, stumbles over a dead body that promptly disappears, and becomes a suspect in a jewel forgery scam.

Determined to prove she's not a total freak who hallucinated a dead girl, Jules goes looking for answers in the secret passageways of Tudor Times. At first she's thrilled when Grayson volunteers to help her on her quest to find a dead body, but his sudden interest in spending time with Jules becomes suspicious when she discovers his girlfriend may be guilty of a lot more than perfect hair and fabulous cleavage.

And if she can't unveil the truth in time, wearing an embarrassing costume and her psychic outbursts will be the least of her problems.

A PROMISE KEPT
by K.S. David

BLURB:

Quinn McGuire only wanted to lay her mother to rest. She planned to hustle out of Hayden County, Kentucky once it was all done. The town held nothing but bad memories for her. She’d never forget the echoes of children’s taunts calling her poor trash and whispers about her daddy's crimes. With the exception of her best friend, Jack Lassiter, there was no one in Hayden she cared about - and she’d even been hiding from him for the last two years. But in less than 24-hours after her arrival, Quinn’s brother gets arrested for murder, derailing her plans for a quick exit. Quinn has to find a way to clear his name, but shadows from her past threaten her efforts and her sanity. As she moves closer to the truth, she just may be putting herself in the path of the real killer.

Excerpt:

Jack was an intentional man who rarely did anything that didn’t serve a purpose. When he trained his shrewd green eyes upward, I realized it had been his aim to touch me. My reaction to his hug earlier hadn’t gone unnoticed.

Taking the swing next to him, I pushed off gently and moved back and forth.

“How long are you going to be home this time?” he asked. There was no reservation in his voice - no indication there had been a break or shift in our friendship. His easy way belied the fact that we hadn’t spoken in over two years.

Shrugging, I said, “Dunno, a couple of weeks I guess. I figure it will take that long to settle Ava’s affairs - sell the house and do something with the salon.”

The answer seemed to satisfy him, and an awkward silence settled between us as an afternoon breeze whistled and tossed dry leaves across the yard. We shared the same birth date, but at thirty-eight, there was wisdom in Jack’s face that made him seem wiser than his years.

I sighed and looked at the sky before speaking. “I’m sorry for not staying in touch.”

He took a sip of coffee and nodded toward me. “And.”

“And…” I hesitated, “you are… my best friend, and you deserve more than that.”

He rolled his eyes. “And... you are going to tell me why you disappeared without a word for two years.”

Taking a deep breath, I shook my head slowly before looking at him. “No,” I said quietly. “Not yet. I will tell you one day but not right now.”

My Review:

I received a free copy of the book from the author for my honest opinion.

Quinn McGuire grew up in the mountains of Kentucky. When she was a little girl growing up all of the children called her names because she was poor and her daddy had done some very bad things in his life. And where Quinn grew up if someone in your family did something wrong then everyone in the family paid for it as well.

Quinn didn’t have any friends in Hayden except for Jack Lassiter. Jack and Quinn grew up together as playmates. They spent every moment possible together. Quinn’s mother Ava worked for Jack’s family who was rich but having money never changed who Jack was. Jack had a very big heart and cared for Quinn a lot more than he ever let her know.

Quinn was determined when she graduated from high school she was going to college so that she could have a career and get out of Hayden. Quinn became a lawyer and was very good at what she did. Once she defended this guy and won but it almost cost her; her life. She was attacked and was injured very badly. The attack hurt her mentally too. She had a poor man’s break down. She disappeared from her family and Jack’s life for a very long time. She had to deal with the attack on her own without any help from anyone.

Jack cared for Quinn so deeply that he was willing to whatever she needed to help her get through her pain. He loved her so much that he left her alone and let her fly away. Jack was one of the best men, human ever. The way he treated Quinn and felt about her was the greatest thing since fried ice cream. Not many humans would give someone as much space as Jack gave to Quinn; nor would they have waited as long as he did.

A Promise Kept is filled with so many twists and turns that it made me dizzy every time I flipped a page. I loved all of the characters but especially Quinn and Jack. Both of them were one tough cookie with a heart of gold. I can’t wait to read more of Quinn and Jack’s stories. If you have not read A Promise Kept then I highly suggest you grab your copy today and get busy a reading real quick like you won’t regret it one little bit trust me. A Promise Kept is one amazing story that will stay with you for a very long time.
