📘 Book Description for Grandma’s Bucket of Mercy by Robin Carole

You are never too old or too young to learn life’s lessons.

From multiple award-winning author Robin Carole comes a heartwarming true story that celebrates the power of love, forgiveness, and generational wisdom. Grandma’s Bucket of Mercy is a touching tale of one young girl’s summer with her grandmother in 1960s California—and the quiet but profound lesson that would change two lives forever.

Ten-year-old Carole is sent on a mysterious errand involving her grandmother’s elderly neighbor, not knowing her grandmother is teaching her about the gift of mercy. Years later, Carole finally understands the full impact of that experience when a stranger shares how her small, anonymous acts of kindness transformed a life.

Beautifully written and deeply personal, this story is a tribute to the grit and grace of the women who survived the Dust Bowl and the Great Depression and to the enduring strength of intergenerational bonds. Grandma’s Bucket of Mercy is perfect for readers aged 9–12—and for the childlike spirit in every adult who believes in the quiet power of compassion.

✅ True story based on real-life events
✅ Uplifting themes of family, kindness, and legacy
✅ Ideal for ages 9–12 and meaningful for all ages

🪣 Sometimes the smallest gesture can change everything.

My Review:

Lyssa Lund's captivating A Silver Mist Cove Cozy Mystery Series continues with The Mother's Legacy. This second installment follows Ginger's return to her hometown, Silver Mist Cove, with her daughter Ivy. Ginger's goal is to protect Ivy, who is half-werewolf and being stalked.

Fortunately, Ginger's neighbor Zane, a werewolf himself, feels responsible for safeguarding Ivy and Ginger. A spark of chemistry ignites between Zane and Ginger, but the cautious Ginger is wary of trusting anyone after her failed marriage.

Ginger, along with her friends Paris and Sage, soon find themselves entangled in a mystery when Zane becomes a suspect in a man's death. Determined to clear his name, the trio teams up to uncover the truth, even as their own past continues to haunt them.

I was captivated by the mystery and suspense of the past and present, eagerly trying to unravel the events alongside Ginger, Paris, Sage, Zane, and Ivy. The world around me kept pulling me out of the story, but every time it did, I was quickly pulled back in by Ginger, Ivy, or any of the other characters.

I highly recommend picking up a copy of The Mother's Legacy today and joining the adventure.

Excerpt from Stakeout

"You're a real asshole, you know that, don't you?"

"Yes, dear," Jarod answered with a suppressed chuckle in his tone.

She was going to smack him any moment now. "That. That right there. That's the reason you're paying alimony to two ex-wives. Fuck you and your yes, dear. I've had shorter dry spells between engagements. I. Need. To. Fuck. Now!"

"You're just bored."

Belle squirmed in her chair, practically grinding her pussy against the worn upholstery. "No shit. What gave it away?"

"Told you not to come. ADD and stakeouts don't go well together."

She pointed the butt of her service revolver at him, resisting the urge to throw it. "Somebody has to watch your back. Besides. You used to be better at keeping me distracted."

A sideways grin quirked his face. "We used to have... interesting... ways of keeping ourselves entertained, didn't we? Not exactly professional, but..."

"Used to being the operative phrase here. What the hell is wrong with you, anyway?"

"Wrong with me? I got shot, remember?"

As if she could forget. "Yeah. And by all reports you should have died. But you didn't. And ever since you've been treating me like..."

"I'm trying to act like a professional. I've been treating you like a cop. Like my partner."

He attempted to look offended at that. Nearly pulled it off. Professional, my ass. "We were a hell of a lot more than just partners, Jarod. You can't deny that."

"Yeah, well, maybe if I'd been acting a little more like a cop and a lot less like your lover, we wouldn't have been in a position where you could have gotten killed." The bitterness in his tone surprised her.

She kept her voice low and steady, bottling up the frustrated anger that threatened to overwhelm her. "I wasn't the one who got shot, Jarod."

"Could have. Could have been you first up that alley, just as easy as me. And it would have been my fault."

This argument was getting them nowhere. Damn it, she was horny as hell and he was right there! "Shut up and fuck me --" she reached for her police baton -- "Or I'll do it myself."

Binoculars focused on the dilapidated warehouse across the street, he didn't even glance her way. "Go ahead."

Did he think she wouldn't? Staring at Jarod's lovely backside, Belle unzipped her jeans and shimmied them down her hips enough to give herself access to her pussy lips. It was his own fault. He was tall, handsome, built and reasonably single, if you didn't count the excess baggage, but she still might have resisted -- if he didn't smell like liquid sex poured into a cop suit. She wanted to reach over, undo his belt, and suck his cock right down to the root. Then they'd see how professional he could be. Fuckhead.

With that thought Belle kicked the jeans the rest of the way off and switched the baton around so the handle lined up with her pussy. With one thrust she impaled herself right down to the crossbar.

Fucker. If he didn't get off on that, he was gay.

"Shit, Belle! What the hell are you doing?"

"We're undercover. Normal people do not sit in sleazy, run-down motels next to vacant buildings for hours at a time and stare at locked doors. Only reason to be here is to fuck."

As if he'd suddenly gotten into the spirit of things, Jarod reached out and grabbed her shoulders, throwing her against the window. His mouth found the juncture of her neck and shoulder, and he bit down with more aggression that she was used to from him, but she was so horny, she didn't give a shit.

He yanked her head back, and his mouth found hers in a jaw-breaking kiss before he broke away, pushing her back. "You wanna play? Fine. Your turn to watch the Russians." He pulled her closer and spun her around. She braced her hands on the dirty plate glass window...

The Fall Gauntlet #6

by J. A. Merkel

Publisher: ‎Worlds Apart Media

Genre: Young Adult, Apocalyptic, Post Apocalyptic, Dystopian

Blurb:

The storms of Ikanos have passed, but Benji’s inner storm is only just beginning …

He, Soren, and Lyaza board a ship bound for the Tangerine Islands, seeking the elusive mask maker—their only hope to shut down the Crown, fix Soren’s mask, and uncover the truth about their missing mother. First, they must cross the Unfathomable Sea, an ocean with secrets as deep as its waters.

People hold secrets too. Adioudi is more than just a combat specialist—he’s also the ship’s captain, and his island homeland has suffered horrors he’ll never forget. His decision to train Benji and Soren is far from selfless. And his niece and nephew, Tamahri and Javao, have agendas of their own.

When Javao challenges Benji to a duel, it’s clear he’s playing a deeper game. Then Soren—desperate to belong and prove himself—joins Javao’s crew of tattooed islanders, known as “the sharks,” on a risky heist to steal masks meant for the Crown. Feeling abandoned and fearing he’s losing his brother to a new family, Benji follows.

As Benji nears a point of no return, he realizes his only lifeline is his lynx mask. But putting it on may create more problems than it solves.

Which is exactly what Javao wants.

The Fall Gauntlet continues …

J. A. Merkel’s SHARK is part of The Fall Gauntlet, a collection of dystopian sci-fi novellas about Benji and Soren’s quest to outsmart the Crown and reclaim their family, all while learning how to be brothers again.

My Review:

The storms have finally subsided. Benji, Soren, and Lyaza are en route to the Tangerine Islands to train with Adioudi. They are still searching for a way to permanently disable the Crown and locate the mask maker who can assist them in repairing Soren’s mask.

Adioudi’s niece and nephew, Tamahri and Javao, have their own plans. What might they be up to? Could they be attempting to implicate someone else for their actions? Perhaps they are merely toying with people's lives.

Soren makes the decision to join Javao’s band of tattooed islanders, referred to as “the sharks,” to seize masks that are meant for the Crown. Soren feels the need to demonstrate his worthiness even without his mask.

Benji opts to accompany him, fearing that he might be losing his brother to a new family. Both Soren and Benji continue to grapple with the events that transpired on the bullet train in their own unique ways.

I have thoroughly enjoyed immersing myself in another captivating tale from The Fall Gauntlet series and eagerly anticipate more adventures in this incredible world. The more I delve into the stories, the more I crave to continue reading. Each narrative is packed with unexpected twists and turns that keep me racing to discover the outcome.

I wholeheartedly recommend SHARK to anyone in search of their next thrilling adventure! Snag a copy of SHARK today and accompany Soren and Benji on their latest journey!

Review Tour + #Giveaway: Kill Pocahontas by Ray Anthony Morris @GoddessFish

KILL POCAHONTAS

Ray Anthony Morris

GENRE: Thriller

BLURB:

Hallee Landry is a promising young Tsawwassen First Nations attorney and litigator with an enviable résumé and a bright future. At only twenty-seven years old, she is not a residential school survivor. Or is she? Everything she has understood to be true about her origins is challenged when she is kidnapped while in Kamloops to attend the annual Pow Wow. Now somebody wants her dead. But why? The perpetrators seem to be a confounding mix of low-level criminals and a sophisticated cadre of malefactors backed by someone high up at the Vatican. Hallee is bewildered to learn that her only allies are an elderly nun, a venerable old Catholic priest, and an Indigenous midwife. This motley crew of improbables faces long odds in unravelling a 50-year-old mystery before the opposing menacing forces erase history for good. Lurking in the shadows is a long-standing conspiracy of extortion, child abuse, kidnapping, and murder. The only clues on offer are an old drawing, a scratchy cassette tape, and a majestic totem pole. First-time novelist Ray Anthony Morris beckons us into the classroom and dares us to slip behind the curtain of an Indian residential school. Much like the backdrop of the mighty Fraser River, serpentining through the Canadian Rockies, this heroic story lifts our spirits on the wings of heart-choking tales of uncommon valour and then plunges us straight into the rollicking, white-water rush-ride of a sensational suspense thriller.

Excerpt:

Rosie managed to grab hold of her mom’s arm and was kicking and writhing, feverishly trying to escape the clutches of the agent. Every kid in the truck was completely transfixed by the bizarre spectacle. She actually squirted loose momentarily, scrabbling in the dirt, kicking up gravel and bloodying her hands and both bare knees before the agent was able to subdue her

again and wrestle her to the truck.

The screeching was relentless. Ethan had never before witnessed such a vehement backlash against authority. He was both deeply sorrowful for Rosie’s misfortune and profoundly impressed with the strength and determination displayed by that seventy-pound little girl-warrior.

With one final sob that seemed to deflate her, Mrs. Sanovie at last slumped into the RCMP officer’s arms, giving up, at least for the moment, any further effort to physically regain her daughter. He gently moved away from the truck as the agent got Rosie deposited in the back. The girl was bending to and fro, barely able to contain the convulsions from her distress nor the

blazing hatred for her oppressors, all too evident in her eyes.

The big tailgate was eventually closed, and the driver was now settled in up front. With renewed vigour, Mrs. Sanovie burst from the RCMP officer’s arms, certifiably enraged… She resumed her cursing and screaming while flailing her fists through the closing driver’s side window at Mr. Indian Agent.

Rosie tried to scramble over the kids to get to the tailgate but, not wanting the little girl to hurt herself, some older girls held her wrists and tried to calm her, telling her it was all right, they were going to school to play games and learn new things.

Exhausted and defeated at last, little Rosie dissolved into tears on the floor of the truck amid the hugs and sympathetic back pats of her “sisters.”

The truck hastily pulled away from the yard, the kids ducking for cover as Rosie’s mom let loose with some rocks in a final, futile protest.

And it was off to “school” they went.

My Review:

Kill Pocahontas takes us back in time about fifty years to tell the story of how First Nation children were ripped from the arms of their parents and made to live in a school whose only purpose was to try to convert them to Christianity.

Brace yourself for a gripping tale of dark secrets – a story of child abuse, kidnapping, and a hidden graveyard holding the remains of hundreds of young victims.

At the center of this mystery is Hallee Landry, a promising Indigenous attorney who may have survived this horrific school as a child. Now, someone wants Hallee dead. Why would anyone target her, and how is she connected to this fifty-year-old tragedy? Prepare to uncover the chilling truth behind this captivating and unsettling case.

As the mystery developed and the past was brought into the present or future, the intrigue kept me turning the pages. Even when real life got in the way, I couldn't put the story down because I was so engrossed in it. It had so many unexpected turns that I was captivated by the story and eagerly read the entire thing through to the end.

Kill Pocahontas is a gripping tale that will make you feel incredibly depressed. In addition to the lies they were told and the things the nuns said to them, these kids endured a great deal of suffering. They constantly put them down and did everything in their power to break and degrade them.

I highly recommend Kill Pocahontas to all mystery fans! Grab a copy today!
