(The Bolles Dynasty, #1)
Publication date: June 28th 2014

A BARGAIN IS ARRANGED…

Fionn Lynch is a self-made Irish billionaire, sought after for his striking appearance, razor sharp intellect and ability to thrive in volatile markets. When his mentor dies unexpectedly in a tragic accident, leaving his business and family in turmoil, Fionn steps in and takes charge. He seeks out estranged heiress Olivia Grey to help squash the unpleasant rumors. When the details of her secret past are leaked to the media, she must decide if she is willing to trust Fionn and allow herself to be drawn into her estranged family. Sparks fly between the two when he persuades her to accompany him to New York to salvage her family’s crumbling financial empire.

A shy clothing designer who was raised by a guardian in an attempt to save the Bolles family from shame, Olivia proves that she has the strength and determination to survive. She has to fight her way through relentless media scrutiny, memories of her father, and the expectations of the elite New York social world–all while trying to keep Fionn at arm’s length, for she refuses to settle for an emotionally distant relationship ever again.
It proves impossible to deny her attraction to Fionn. Is their growing bond enough to overcome all the obstacles thrown into their path?

***The Forgotten Heiress is the first book in a six book series. Each book is a stand-alone category romance and tells the story of one of the Bolles family members.

Author Interview:
What inspired you to write The Forgotten Heiress?
The original concept came from an elderly relative. When she was in her eighties, she reminisced about her parents taking in an infant for the church. They had the child for four years and would visit the church on many Sundays and leave the young baby or toddler for a few hours. When the little girl turned four years old, they brought her for a visit and were informed that the child wouldn’t be coming home with them. They didn’t have the chance to say goodbye and it was something that always bothered my aunt. She wanted to know, what happened to the little girl? The Forgotten Heiress starts when the child is in her twenties and finds out that her estranged father has been killed in a motorcycle accident.
When or at what age did you know you wanted to be a writer?
My parents knew when I was in Kindergarten. The teacher wrote in her end of year comments, ‘She insists on making up stories and pretending that they are real.’
What is the earliest age you remember reading your first book?
I can remember being frustrated with the ‘Dick and Jane’ books at about six years old. I wanted to read something more captivating but didn’t have the reading ability yet. My father would read to me at night and I can remember asking him to keep reading.
What genre of books do you enjoy reading?
I enjoy reading anything in the romance genre. But I also read a range of other novels and non-fiction. I appreciate anything that is written well.
     What is your favorite book?
It would have to be Jane Eyre. I read it at a pivotal time – the end of high school and thought, I want to be able to tell a story like that but happier. I didn’t know at the time that you couldn’t protect your characters and only allow good things to happen to them. I didn’t find out about the importance of conflict in writing until college or after.
You know I think we all have a favorite author. Who is your favorite   author and why?
I love trying new authors so often I’ll chose a novel based on the premise and not just the author’s name. But in particular I like Jane Porter for her fast-paced stories, Christina Tetreault for her emotional impact and Bella Andre for her interesting families and captivating male characters.
If you could travel back in time here on earth to any place or time. Where would you go and why?
I’d like to visit the mid-1800’s in New York City. Many of my relatives came from Ireland to New York in the 1860’s and it would be interesting to experience that time period instead of just reading about it. I would also like to experience the 1960’s because it was such a period of change in the United States.
When writing a book do you find that writing comes easy for you or is it a difficult task?
It depends. The ideas for me generally flow easily but it becomes difficult when I want to turn those ideas into a cohesive story.
Do you have any little fuzzy friends? Like a dog or a cat? Or any pets?
I have a beautiful little black kitty and an ancient terrier. My children are always asking why the pets spend so much time in my office. I have to remind them that I’m not leaping off of furniture or kicking a ball around that in fact a writer provides companionship along with the right environment for a long nap. Sometimes I won’t get up from my desk if one of them is in a deep sleep.
What is your "to die for", favorite food/foods to eat?
I love good food. My favorite is beautifully prepared, healthy local fare. Unfortunately, I’m the one often preparing it. Sometimes it is fairly simple – a roasted beet or butternut squash soup.
Do you have any advice for anyone that would like to be an author?

It’s important to remember that writing is more of a marathon and less of a sprint. In order to build a successful writing career, experts insist that writers need a long term plan. I think this is crucial when deciding whether to invest in marketing or spend time on craft that you know what your long term goals are so you can prioritize and achieve what you set out to do.

Read an Excerpt from HUNT ME:

He sat silently. She forced herself to eat three bites of the salmon in quick succession, followed by a forkful of the steamed spinach and grilled zucchini. Her lack of appetite did not do the meal justice, but her audience forced her to play the part. Their air of civility wore on her. She’d rather be curled up, snacking on her dinner in bed and watching the latest movies she’d missed thanks to the whirlwind schedule she’d been maintaining.

But, no. She sat at a table with a perfectly respectable, smoking-hot- should-be- licked- often stranger. Damn her father.

Hell, if her father hadn’t sent him, she could have indulged in one of those carnal impulses which used to land her in the scandal rags during her university years. When the heat in her body continued to spread, warming her cheeks and breasts, she reached for the wine again. Maybe a glass or three would knock the temperature off her libido.

“You seem very relaxed, considering our present circumstances.” He sounded almost curious.

“I’m used to it.” She sighed and ran her tongue along her teeth, hoping no bits of veggie were embarrassing her. “Unfortunately.”

“Well, if you’re used to it, maybe you should consider a change in careers.” The odd comment, coupled with his pursed lips, dragged her attention away from her raging hormones to stare at him again. He watched her with no attempt to disguise the shrewd predator in his eyes. A fresh wave of awareness rolled over her.

He wasn’t any ordinary businessman, and his attempts at vanilla engagement, from his relaxed dress to his mannerisms, couldn’t disguise the difference anymore. Something far more dangerous than an unwanted matchmaking attempt lurked in his gaze.

Intrigue and wariness clashed inside.

“Why would I change careers? I’m destined to inherit the entire organization. I have to know how it works from top to bottom. Or are you one of those men who thinks marrying me will be your key to the executive office, and I’ll be at home hosting tea while popping out the requisite heirs?”

Jarod tugged his ear and set his utensils down. “Kit Kat, what the hell are you talking about?”

“My father, Mr. Parker. And stop calling me by that horrid nickname.” Irritation rose to the top of her desire and flamed. “I asked you to call me Katherine.”

“No. You told me to. I prefer Kit Kat. It suits your mercurial moods. What does your father have to do with my being on this plane?”

“Everything.” She leaned forward. “Miles told me Daddy sent you to the meeting and here. I am used to my father’s matchmaking—although he’s generally a great deal subtler than this. I suppose my birthday last month and the engagements of several of his associates’ children has him thinking.”

“Miles told you I’m here as a—”

“Seriously, Mr. Parker? A stud service. Yes, my father sent you to stand stud for his recalcitrant princess who will not settle down. Granted, you’re an exceptionally fine specimen, but I have no desire to wear the reins which undoubtedly go with your promising physique.”

Jarod’s mouth opened briefly then snapped shut. To her amazement—and ire—he started to laugh.

“What’s so funny?”

“You’re not mad your father might have sent me, Kit Kat. You’re mad you wanted me, and now you think you can’t have me.”

Author Interview:

What inspired you to write Hunt Me?

The Love Thieves trilogy let me play with my love of romantic suspense, treasure hunters and thieves. The combination of humor and action adventure are my favorite types of films and books!

When or at what age did you know you wanted to be a writer?

Honestly, I think it became my passion with the first book I ever sat and “read” all by myself. My grandmother read to me for years. She used to read Harlequin romances to me because she didn’t like picture books. As I learned to read on my own, I gobbled up everything from picture books to my first chapter books to Tom Swift and Trixie Belden. I got lost in their worlds and I wanted to get lost in my own. After my daughter’s birth, I went back to school and decided to make my dreams a reality.

What is the earliest age you remember reading your first book?

I read a Greek Mythology pop-up when I was three!

What genre of books do you enjoy reading?

I love all genres, I’m very eclectic in my reading tastes. I think horror is the only one I don’t like to read, though I do love thrillers.

What is your favorite book?

Do I have to pick one? Currently I think my favorite is Allegiance of Honor by Nalini Singh.

You know I think we all have a favorite author. Who is your favorite author and why?

Nalini Singh is hands down one of my all time favorites. She is a world building master with characters you can root for!

If you could travel back in time here on earth to any place or time. Where would you go and why?

Hmm…Rome at its height or Classic Greece.

When writing a book do you find that writing comes easy for you or is it a difficult task?

Writing is my joy, so I am happiest when I am immersed in a project.

All In
by Simona Ahrnstedt
GENRE: Contemporary Romance

BLURB:

In the cutthroat world of Sweden’s financial elite, no one knows that better than corporate raider David Hammar. Ruthless. Notorious. Unstoppable. He’s out to hijack the ultimate prize, Investum. After years of planning, all the players are in place; he needs just one member of the aristocratic owning family on his side—Natalia De la Grip.

Elegant, brilliant, driven to succeed in a man’s world, Natalia is curious about David’s unexpected invitation to lunch. Everyone knows that he is rich, dangerous, unethical; she soon discovers he is also deeply scarred.

Excerpt:

Michel nodded. After all, this was what Hammar Capital did. Their team of analysts searched for companies that weren’t doing as well as they should be. David and Michel identified the problems—often incompetent leadership—and then vacuumed up shares in order to put together a majority holding

Then they went in, brutally, took over, broke the company into pieces and restructured, sold, and profited. They were better at this than almost anyone else—owning and improving. Sometimes it went smoothly. People cooperated, and Hammar Capital was able to drive its agenda. Sometimes there was a fight.

“I’d still like to get someone from the owning family on our side,” David said as southern Stockholm spread out beneath them. Having one or more of the big shareholders, some of the giant retirement fund managers, for example, on your side was critical for success in a hostile takeover this big. David and Michel had spent a lot of time convincing the managers, attended endless meetings, and run the numbers countless times. But winning over someone from the actual owning family had several advantages. In part, it would be an enormously prestigious symbolic win, especially with this firm, Investum, one of Sweden’s biggest and oldest companies. It would also automatically win over a number of other shareholders who would vote in favor of Hammar Capital if David and Michel could show that they had someone from the inner circle on their side. “It would make the process a lot easier,” he continued.

“But who?”

“There is one person who actually has gone her own way in that family,” said David as Bromma Airport came into view on the horizon.

Michel was quiet for a bit. “You mean the daughter, right?”

“Yes,” David said. “She’s an unknown but considered to be quite the talent. It’s possible that she’s dissatisfied with how the men are treating her.” Investum wasn’t just an old and traditional company. It was patriarchal in a way that would make the 1950s seem modern and enlightened.

“Do you really believe you can win over anyone from that family?” Michel asked hesitantly. “You’re not exactly popular with them.”

David almost laughed at the understatement.

Investum was controlled by the De la Grip family, and the company did billions of kronor worth of business a day. Indirectly Investum, and thus the De la Grip family, controlled close to a tenth of Sweden’s GNP and owned the biggest bank in the country. Family members sat on the board of directors of close to every major Swedish company. The De la Grip family was upper-class, traditional, and wealthy. As close to royalty as you could get without actually being royal. And with significantly bluer blood than any member of the House of Bernadotte, Sweden’s royal family. It would be unlikely for David Hammar, the upstart, to get anyone from the innermost circle— known for their loyalty—to change sides and join him, an infamous venture capitalist and corporate raider.

But he’d done it before, convinced a few family members to join forces with him. That often meant leaving a trail of broken family ties behind him, which he usually regretted, but in this case it would be a welcome bonus.

“I’m going to try,” he said.

“That’s damn near insane,” said Michel. It wasn’t the first time in the last year he’d uttered those words.

David nodded briefly. “I already called to set up a lunch meeting with her.”

“Of course you did,” said Michel as the helicopter started its descent for landing. The flight had taken less than thirty minutes. “And what did she say?”

David thought about the cool voice he’d gotten on the line, not an assistant’s but that of Natalia De la Grip herself. She had sounded surprised but hadn’t said very much, just thanked him for the invitation, and then had her assistant confirm the lunch appointment by e-mail.

“She said she was looking forward to our meeting.”

“She did?”

David laughed, tersely and joylessly. Her voice had been distinctive in that patrician way that almost inevitably triggered his disdain for the upper classes. Natalia De la Grip was one of about a hundred women in Sweden who had been born with the title of countess, the elite of the elite. He hardly had the words to express how little he thought of that kind of person.

“No,” he said. “She didn’t say that.” But then he hadn’t expected her to, either.

Book Blast + #Giveaway: Luc by J.M. Stewart @JMStewartWriter @GoddessFish

Luc
by J.M. Stewart
GENRE: Contemporary Romance

BLURB:

After her husband’s death two years ago, erotic romance author Liz Anderson moved home to small-town Angel Bay to heal her broken heart. So when her best friend fixes her up with a single father ten years her junior, she doesn’t expect much. But this hot young chef is igniting her long-dormant passion.

With a three-year-old daughter to raise and a restaurant to run, the last thing Luc Rossi’s life has room for is love. After his fiancée’s betrayal, he isn’t sure he believes in it anyway. His colleague’s matchmaking attempt is awkward at best, but what can he do except play the gentleman? Liz ends up being smart, charming, and sexy, and he can’t resist her.

An offer to teach her to cook leads to a steamy fling, but this gorgeous older woman makes Luc wonder if it’s time to open his heart again. Can he convince Liz that giving their relationship a chance beyond the bedroom wouldn’t be a betrayal of the past she holds dear?

Excerpt:

Halfway down the alley, he pivoted and stalked back in her direction. He glared at her, as if somehow all this was her fault.

“I was dying to let every single one of those guys know you’re mine.”

Liz could only stare, stunned. So she was right. He was jealous. What was worse, the intensity in his gaze sent a fierce yearning rolling through her belly in hot little waves. Daniel had looked at her like that once. Right before he decked some guy for making a pass at her.

Every limb shaking, she squared her shoulders, trying her damnedest to get her equilibrium back. It didn’t matter why he was behaving like a Neanderthal or how sexy he looked doing it. He had no right. “You do realize it’s going to be all over town by tomorrow?”

Something flashed across the recesses of his eyes that she didn’t catch before his jaw tightened and his expression blanked. He stalked to the end of the alley, where the blacktop met the sidewalk, and stared out at the street beyond. “It was all I could think of. The way he looked at you, I knew exactly what he was thinking, and you were standing there, frozen in fear.”

Liz folded her arms. It was a meager defense, but it was all she had left. “I wasn’t afraid of him. I could have handled him if I’d had to. My father was a police officer. He taught me how to take care of myself. So did my husband. I know self-defense, and I’m a damn good shot. I—”

Luc pivoted around, eyes wide with surprise. “You know how to shoot a gun?”

“Daniel insisted I learn. I have a nine millimeter, and I have a permit to carry concealed, though I’ve never had the guts to actually carry it on me.” She frowned, unsure who she was more irritated with: him for getting to her or herself for responding. “The point being, I could have dropped him if I’d needed to. But I didn’t.”

Luc cocked a brow, clearly challenging her assertion. “Then why did you look so panicked? Who the hell was that guy?”

She heaved a sigh. He had her there. Damn it. “An overzealous fan. He kept going on and on about my writing, and people were starting to stare.”

But that was neither here or there. It was past time to end this insanity.

“Look, I have no idea what to expect after a one-night stand. That’s essentially what we shared, isn’t it? So, I expected we’d said our goodbyes and we wouldn’t see each other again. When I didn’t hear from you, I figured we were going our separate ways. I get it. But I’m fairly certain that means you forfeit your right to be jealous. I appreciate the concern, but I’m a big girl. I can handle myself.”

Without waiting for a reply, she pivoted on her heel and stalked from the alleyway, heading for the safety of the booth as fast as her legs could carry her. Whatever the hell this was, she was backing out now, because alarms bells were sounding in her head.
