Emotionally
unrecognisable to all who knew him before, Lawrence Gunvald is more
than the king of wolves: he's a mate, a husband, a father, a dancer,
and more than all of that, he is whole.
For five years,
the Gunvald Estate has been filled with happiness and laughter –
his and his family's. Mated life is the best it can be. His six
children colour their home with their innocent exuberance, and Adam
and Tiegan's two – soon to be three – are as close as extended
family.
So when old friends in need come knocking, it
brings the bittersweet past to the fore as well as a truth that
remains hidden – one Lawrence had all but forgotten he knew.
Is
Taylor compassionate enough to forgive him the crucial secret he
kept, or does his compassion have limits after all?
And is
his young and still-growing family strong enough to welcome a new
arrival? One who will change the dynamic of their unit in intricate
ways while paving a path into a future that looks far darker than the
past five years.
This is the final story in the After the
Storm novelette series.
Publisher's
note: After the Storm is a series of novelettes that take place at
relevant points in the immediate months and years after Eye of the
Storm. They concentrate on the healing our characters need to go
through after everything that happened. They do not need to be read
to understand the main story – they are additional reads for fans
that also contain 'Easter eggs' for what is to come.
My Review:
Jewels of the Crown is the fourth installment in the After the Storm series by Dianna Hardy. From the very first page, I found myself immersed in its realm. I was perfectly content to be a quiet observer, standing in a corner of the room and taking in all the happenings.
As usual, it was a delight to reconnect with my favorite family and discover their three new little ones, bringing their total to six now. The triplets are now five and are eager to run off from their mother, convinced they are all grown up and ready to do things independently. They are absolutely adorable.
As I’ve always mentioned, my affection for this series grows deeper with each revisit. I can’t seem to get enough of it. I could happily reside in this world alongside Lydia, Lawrence, Ryan, and Taylor for eternity. And let’s not forget about their little ones—or should I say pups?
Jewels of the Crown tells Lawrence’s tale, delving into a past he isn’t certain he’s prepared to share. He has kept a secret for a long time, and he doubts whether his family is ready for the truth. Are they resilient enough as a family to face this revelation? Or will it tear them apart? The tension is gripping and enthralling, keeping me engaged as I anticipated the outcome.
I adore the After the Storm series and can’t get enough of it. I wish it could continue indefinitely. I became enchanted by this universe and all its characters in the Eye of the Storm series. I recommend reading all the books in the Eye of the Storm series before diving into the After the Storm series. This approach will enhance your understanding of each narrative and help you become acquainted with Lydia, Lawrence, Ryan, Taylor, and all the other fantastic characters from the Eye of the Storm series.
As always, I wholeheartedly recommend Jewels of the Crown to all werewolf enthusiasts! Be sure to pick up a copy of Jewels of the Crown today, but remember to read all the books in the Eye of the Storm series before diving into the After the Storm series!
