My Review:

A Stolen Valentine is the sixth installment and a delightful addition to the Mike and Maddie Mysteries by Daisy Landish. Mike and Maddie are on vacation, attending the launch of a friend’s book. When the lights suddenly go out, the first edition of the book mysteriously disappears. The author, Rachel, intended to auction it at the signing event for charity.

Mike and Maddie dive into the investigation surrounding the missing book. Who is responsible for the theft, and what was their motive? There’s a room full of potential suspects, each with their own reason for wanting the book, but which one actually committed the crime?

The vivid descriptions were so well-crafted that I could visualize all the individuals in that room as if I were a bystander or perhaps watching a film. I could see them positioned around the room, each eyeing the others, pondering who might have perpetrated the theft and why they desired the book. Music played softly in the background while they stood there, scrutinizing one another in an attempt to uncover the thief.

I found myself wondering whether the culprit had meticulously planned the heist or if it was an impulsive opportunity they couldn’t resist. Was it a case of actions preceding thought? Did they act independently, or did they have accomplices? So many questions raced through my mind, propelling me toward the conclusion to discover the answers. The suspense kept me engaged, eager to learn the truth.

If you haven't gathered by now that I thoroughly enjoyed A Stolen Valentine, let me clarify—I absolutely did! I'm looking forward to seeing what mystery Mike and Maddie will tackle next in the seventh book, Maze of Shadows.

I strongly recommend that all mystery enthusiasts pick up a copy of A Stolen Valentine today! I recommend starting with the first book, On Thin Ice. It will give you a better experience in the Mike and Maddie Mysteries series.
