Interview with S.R. Wyatt
I’m very grateful to be with you today. Thank you for helping me share my firefighter books.
You are very welcome! Thank you for visiting with us today.
What is your favorite part of the book?
When I think of Mike, I think of the man he is—strong, kind, determined, dynamic, and then I think of his one insecurity that a woman would not love him and stay with him for keeps. Without revealing the reason why, when he and Cassie finally get together, it sends chills on my skin. I hope the reader will become as involved in the story.
Does your book have a lesson? Moral?
First would be the respect for first responders. In the front of each book is a dedication to all firefighters. Any man or woman who comes to the rescue of those in need has my highest regard. A lesson would be for the faint of heart. No matter your insecurity, give love a chance.
Are your characters based off real people or did they all come entirely from your imagination?
My characters are made up from my imagination. However, I have visited fire departments, interviewed firefighters to get the background for my books. And having a member in the family who is a firefighter helps.
Of all the characters you have created, which is your favorite and why?
Oh dear. I would have to say my favorite character is whichever one I am working on. I fall in love with each hero in every book.
What character in your book are you least likely to get along with?
In my very first book, which is a historical, the heroine is mistaken for another woman who has stolen from the hero. She is wicked and deceitful. I would definitely be championing the heroine.
What would the main character in your book have to say about you?
Well now, as writing their character? Or me personally?
The hero would be happy I allowed him to meet the heroine. The heroine would be glad I made her spirited and not timid. She would also be glad I returned her brother to her.
Personally, I would hope they think I am a kind person since I gave them a HEA.
Do you want each book to stand on its own, or are you trying to build a body of work with connections between each book?
I like the idea of each book I write having its own hero and love story. I don’t like getting to the end of the book and their incident leaves you hanging where you must buy the next book, or next three, to see their HEA. However, I do like connecting the books with familiar characters. Or relatives. As for the Firefighters of Station #8, I had the idea of connecting them with a villain who is featured in all five books.
