Interview
with Danielle R. Mani
What inspired you to write The Divine Heart?
After reading an article, years ago, about an organ recipient who began to display characteristics of her donor, I was completely intrigued and thought that concept would make a great story.
Can you tell us a little bit about your next book in or what you have planned for the future?
I’ve already started to work on my third book. Although none of my books are sequels, per se, they do fall in the category of a spiritual sequel meaning it does not build on the story line of its predecessor, but rather shares a similar theme. In the case of my books, it’s the connection we have with the spirit world.
Can you tell us a little bit about the characters in The Divine Heart?
The protagonist is a seventeen year old girl named, Elle, who suffers from a congenital heart condition. After collapsing one night, she awakes in the hospital to discover she was gifted the heart of another young girl, named Cas. Cas is a character that we learn about only after her death. One of my favorite characters in the book is Jocelyn—Elle’s yoga instructor, who also happens to be a clairvoyant.
You know I think we all have a favorite author. Who is your favorite author and why?
One of my favorite authors is Mary Higgins Clark. I like her genuine, unpretentious, style of writing. Plus I’m a sucker for a good mystery.
If you could time-travel would you travel to the future or the past? Where would you like to go and why would you like to visit this particular time period?
I would like to travel into the past. The future scares me a bit. I think we all have a fear of the unknown. Although there are a lot of things from the past that I don’t like, I would like to go back to a simpler time before things like social media and cell phones.
Do you have any little fuzzy friends? Like a dog or a cat? Or any pets?
Yes! I’m a huge animal lover. I have two dogs and two rescue cats. I’d love to live on a farm someday.
Thanks for taking time out of your busy schedule to visit with us today.
