Sixteen-year-old Quinn Hardwick’s having a rough summer. Her beloved grandmother has been put into a home, her dad’s gambling addiction has flared back up and now her worst enemy is back in town: Wesley James, former childhood friend—until he ruined her life, that is.
So when Wesley is hired to work with her at Tudor Tymes, a medieval England themed restaurant, the last thing Quinn’s going to do is forgive and forget. She’s determined to remove him from her life and even the score all at once—by getting him fired.
But getting rid of Wesley isn’t as easy as she’d hoped. When Quinn finds herself falling for him, she has to decide what she wants more: to get even, or to just get over it.

"Can
you tell us a little bit about the characters in Wesley James Ruined My
Life?"
In Wesley James Ruined My Life, I wanted the
setting to almost function as a character, something fun that I could really do
a lot with. I came up with the idea for Tudor Tymes, a medieval England style
restaurant, after attending a Renaissance Faire back in 2012. I loved the idea
of a theme restaurant and having one person who takes it all a little too
seriously and never breaks out of character. The first character who really
came to me was Alan Rickles, a former TV weatherman who reigns over Tudor Tymes
as if he truly is King Henry VIII.
I wanted to write a book about enemies to lovers, mostly because I love those stories, so I made my main characters — Quinn and Wesley — opposites in a lot of ways. Quinn is stubborn, focused and struggling with her beloved grandmother’s Alzheimer’s diagnosis and subsequent move to a care home. Wesley, on the other hand, is pretty laid back, someone who generally lets things roll off his back. Not much gets to him. He’s just moved back to the area after five years away, and most of his old friends are happy to see him — all of them, that is, except for Quinn.
When Wesley James Ruined My Life begins,
Quinn is working at Tudor Tymes to save up for a trip to London — her
dream trip. She’s caught by surprise when Wesley is hired to work at the restaurant.
She hasn’t seen Wesley in years and she is not at all happy to find out that
they’re now colleagues. His reappearance in her life is just one more layer to
what has already been a pretty crappy summer.
Wesley can’t understand how Quinn is
still mad at him, for something that happened five years ago, but Quinn is not
the type to just forgive and forget. She knows how to hold a grudge and she
makes it her mission to pay Wesley back for what she perceives as an
unforgiveable mistake, the beginning of everything that has gone wrong in her
life.
