Title: Justice
Series: The Ferryman + The Flame #2
By: Rhiannon Paille

Blurb:

How far would you go to destroy yourself?

Krishani always knew he would have to go to the Lands of Men, but he never thought it would be like this. Enemies everywhere, an ancestor he can't respect, elders he can't trust, a curse he can't stop and friends he can't help but hate. Desperate to end the pain, he sets out on a quest to find the other Flames and face the enemy that took everything from him.

Excerpt:

"That's no battle scar," he said. He sized up the boy, focusing on his hand. "You're turning. This is because of your calling."

Krishani regretted returning to the castle. Not more talk of Ferrymen. He wrenched his hand out of Mallorn's grip. "I don't want to be the Ferryman."

Mallorn scoffed. "You can deny it all you want, but you cannot escape it."

Krishani went down the hallway. He knew Mallorn would follow him, but he needed air or relief, something to help clear his head. "I'm nothing."

Mallorn grabbed his forearm and pulled up his sleeve to show him the black marks. "You have no choice. This will spread until you are no more."

Krishani half-smiled. Mallorn meant it as a deterrent, but it made Krishani happy to know there was a way out. After all he had been through there was a way to die.

"The end of me," he breathed.

Mallorn whacked him across the back of the head. "Stop it. The Ferrymen are important."

Krishani let his head throb. He didn't raise his hand to rub the spot Mallorn struck. From the dream he knew just how important the Ferrymen were. People died by the thousands in the Lands of Men and no one protected them. He stopped at the sixteenth corridor. "I have nothing to live for."

Mallorn's forehead creased in tight wrinkles. "Death. You must live for that."

Krishani wanted to smack him for his answer. Instead, he balled up his fist and descended the stairway, heading towards the kitchen. "Hernadette!" he called. There had to be another answer, a cure for his condition or something to alleviate the aching he felt throughout his body. He passed the archway and paused at the mouth of the kitchen. A plump woman in soiled linens appeared in the doorframe.

"You're well!" she exclaimed.

Krishani shook his head. "Alive."

"Which is well. Do you need something?"

He extended his hand. "I need a cure for this."

Hernadette covered her mouth with her fingertips. "That is a plague."

Krishani pulled his robe over his hand and shrank away from the kitchen. When he turned around, Mallorn stood in the hallway, staring at him. The Kiirar had a soiled gray robe underneath his cloak, a cord tied around his waist.

"Come to Nandaro with me," Mallorn said.

"Avristar will sentence me to death."

"You should leave before that happens."

Krishani's face twisted into disbelief. "She loathes me that much?"

"It is the price one pays for that crime."

It was like knives stabbing his insides as the land he called home turned against him. "Does she blame me for the existence of the foe, too? Does she blame me for Kaliel's death?" He sunk to the floor and covered his face with his arms.

"Nandaro was the last place she called home," Mallorn said gently.

Krishani couldn't stay. He couldn't face Avristar's wrath. Defeated, he glanced at Mallorn and nodded reluctantly.

"Aye," he whispered. "I will go to Nandaro."

Author Interview:

What inspired you to write JUSTICE?

Originally, JUSTICE didn't exist. I was going to write SURRENDER, VULTURE and MERCY, but then I realized there was a gaping hole between SURRENDER and VULTURE, that Krishani had a lot to do, I couldn't just plunk him into VULTURE and expect him to pick up where he left off. So JUSTICE began to form in my mind and from there it became the second book in The Ferryman & The Flame Series.

When or at what age did you know you wanted to be a writer?

I was kicked out of English class in grade 6 for being too smart. They did aptitude tests and I scored too high so I was sent to the library with five other kids to do creative writing. I wrote a story about three sisters that had a very original title, I called it: The Three Sisters.

What is the earliest age you remember reading your first book?

I was six years old, and it had something to do with a dog.

What genre of books do you enjoy reading?

I read a bit of everything, so I guess it's more apt of me to say what I don't like reading, and I'm really glad I don't have to read non fiction. Those books always took three times as long as any fictional book I've picked up.

What is your favorite book?

Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater

You know I think we all have a favorite author. Who is your favorite author and why?

I have so many because of how long I've been reading. Cassandra Clare, Marion Zimmer Bradley, Maggie Stiefvater, and Katie McGarry, off the top of my head.

If you could travel back in time here on earth to any place or time. Where would you go

I'd like to stay right where I am . . .

and why?

So I have a PhD in Metaphysical Science and Parapsychology. I'm a natural born psychic. I don't think it really matters where or when I go in Earth's territory, I would have been burned at the stake by this time in my life, sooo I'll stay right here thanks.

When writing a book do you find that writing comes easy for you or is it a difficult task?

It depends on the book. Sometimes it's really easy and then sometimes I have to stop, write more notes, or visualize it more, and then go back to it.

Do you have any little fuzzy friends? Like a dog or a cat? Or any pets?

I have a puppy named Zeus who weighs about five pounds and is a very cute black and white Chihuahua.

What is your "to die for", favorite food/foods to eat?

Poutine!

Do you have any advice for anyone that would like to be an author?

Get your butt in the chair and write. Your first draft doesn't have to be good, you can make it better, just get it done. Don't be afraid to speak up! This community is huge, and it's very loving and accepting. You always have a friend right around the corner you just have to be brave enough to say what's on your mind! Come find me on facebook and feel free to chat at me anytime about anything! <3 you all, keep rocking it!

Book Blitz: Impulsion By Jamie Magee @Jamie_Magee_ @NereydaG1003 #Giveaway

Impulsion (Station 32 #1)
Release Date: 05/19/14

Summary from Goodreads:
With a glance Wyatt Doran stole Harley Tatum's heart. With each summer that passed, touch by touch, they robbed each other's innocence, birthing a love that was so deep that it scorched within.

Without warning, they were ripped from the clutches of each other, placed in lives that were worlds apart. Only to cross paths after a freak accident where Harley's horse rig was flipped. An accident that Wyatt Doran, from fire station 32, responded.

The tension was immediate, the emotions were raw. One breath told them they were not the same as before, one touch…changed their world.

Available from:
Amazon * Barnes & Noble * iBooks

Excerpt:

His fingertips slowly moved down her face, down her neck. He noticed how all the tension in her body drifted away, how her eyes slowly closed, the long, deep breaths that were causing her chest to rise and fall.

"The sight of you brought it all back, past and present colliding with a magnitude that is so great…that I have no choice but to stop and realize that the only thing holding us back this go 'round is us."

He reached his arm around her waist and pulled her body against his, causing her eyes to fly open, those breaths to come even faster. "And Harley, I'm going to fight like hell for you. And as soon as I make you mine again, I will die before I ever let anyone take you from me again." His hand rose to her face, his thumb grazed her flesh, his eyes dipped to her lips, then met her gaze once more. "You're the only woman I have ever loved. That I ever will love."

All at once, they both moved forward, their lips connecting as if they were molded from one source, a well-practiced dance of flesh, the perfect rhythm, teasing brushes of tongues that knew just when to fall into a deeper kiss, a kiss that was so devouring that all thought, all reason vanished. The impulse of the heart, that deep passion that lies dormant within erupted to a euphoria that made it impossible to fathom life outside of that very instant.

Release Day Book Blitz: Plumb Crazy by Molly Blaisdell @MollyBlaisdell @NereydaG1003 #YABOUNDBOOKTOURS #Giveaway

Plumb Crazy
Release Date: 06/10/14

Summary from Goodreads:
Small town country girl Elva Presley Hicks is about to attend her five-year class reunion with her best friends, Shay and Margarett.

The discovery of an old fanfic manuscript stirs up memories of her summer job as a plumber's helper in Houston the summer before senior year. She earned a lot of money that year, but was lonely as heck.

It's not like there weren't any suitors back then. Elva could have chosen between Chase, the obese pig farmer, and Wyatt, the plumber with wandering hands. But Elva yearned for something more, and found it that fateful summer, with electrician, Mitch McCall.

It was magical. Mitch wasn't turned off by Elva's name or fan fiction writing, and Elva didn't lose interest in Mitch after he cut off his nose at work.

Trials and triumphs followed including a friendship implosion, world-wide fanfic humiliation, and goat salvation. It would go down as the most memorable summer of high school.

But as these things sometimes do, the summer romance fizzled and Elva moved on to life after high school. And while she's ready to reminisce, she is unnerved when she runs into Mitch at the reunion. Can they give it another go after so much time has passed, or are they too different now to even try?

Available from:
Amazon * Barnes & Noble

Excerpt:

Come out for the Belling High School reunion. Setups for BYOB.

The invitation arrived by mail. Her five year class reunion.

Elva could hardly believe it had been five years. It was amazing how fast time burned up in a puff of college classes, summer jobs, and road trips to sci-fi conventions (her guilty pleasure). She'd decided not go to the reunion. A return to high school seemed like a waste of time, but then Shay had called and after that, Margarett. Her best friends, the Loser Girls, a name born of junior high foolishness-they wanted to reunite, and of junior high foolishness-they wanted to reunite, and she couldn't say no.

She put out the fifty dollars for the reunion boat ride on Lake Conroe, along with barbeque and country western dancing. Next, she'd shopped for a new dress since the planning committee insisted that everyone wear formals.

"Elva Presley, are you ready?" Her grandmother, Nonny, was watching TV.

Elva headed into the living room.

"Do you like my outfit?" she asked, spinning in a fuchsia mini with sparkly shoulder straps, her four-inch high pumps dangling from a finger.

"Oh, Elva Presley, you look so much like your mama did," Nonny said.

Elva laughed. She was all generous curves, and her mama had been model thin.

Papaw came out of the bathroom. "Elva, do you have enough gas money for tonight?"

"I'm fine. I've got my internship pay. I just need my purse, and then I'll pick up Margarett in Jersey Village. Shay's meeting us at the boat."

Elva glanced around the living room for her clutch purse. She checked in the bedroom. Her sequined clutch jutted out from under the bed. When she reached down to pick it up, her fingers grazed a rubber-banded stack of paper. Elva hooked the purse over her wrist and picked up the stack. The edges of the sheets were curled and faded coffee stains blossomed across the cover page.

Her breath caught in her throat when she read the title. "The Death Incident."

She hadn't seen this manuscript since she started college. Her lips curved into her widest smile. It suddenly all seemed like yesterday.

Elva went to her car, a yellow Yaris that she'd paid off herself last summer. She put it in gear and headed to Margarett's. Vivid memories flooded back of Belling High School, a low cinder block building hunkered down in hardscrabble grassland choked by bull nettle and scourged by fire ants. The cafeteria doors were painted mud-coffee to hide the dirt.

It all started after her junior year.

About the Author
I was born in Southeast Iowa, in a tiny town without much to do. I came to love reading honestly, with a Mom that had an entire room devoted to books. We read together until I could read alone, and then we often shared books. We talked stories and favorite characters, even shared tears over the best ones. I made friends who also loved books and we grew up with the likes of V.C. Andrews, L.J. Smith and Anne Rice.

I live in central Iowa now, and went into marketing because I could use my love of words and head for branding. I married a guy who hates fiction and loves video games, but we compromise with great movies (often my book adaptations) and live music. We have two crazy cats that constantly walk across my key board or curl into my lap for naps while I write.

I love chocolate peanut butter and mint chocolate chip ice cream and Sauvignon Blanc wine, though not at the same time. I always have music of some sort on and someday I'll convince my husband to move to the ocean. Someday.
