Book Tour: Anti-Theist by Christopher Mallard

Anti-Theist
by Christopher Mallard

Author Bio

The majority of my adult life was spent working in the oilfields of west Texas. In my spare time I taught myself how to work on computers and eventually turned it into a small business which I work from home. What does any of this have to do with religion? Nothing. Where are my degrees in theology, biology, astronomy and philosophy? I don't have any. I am your common average Joe and that's exactly the type of reader I'm trying to reach. Does it take a degree in theology to open the bible and see the stories told within as being immoral and violent? Can the common man not see how the religions of the world have done and are still doing immeasurable harm to society?

Synopsis:

This book is the first in a series essentially arguing about the lack of abject morality of religion and its dangers. It's broken down so each chapter is a topic on its own covering a variety subjects.

Excerpt #1

From Chapter 3 - Disproving God

"It's God's lack of action, not his actions that disprove his existence. If prayer really worked there would be groups of theists (nuns, priests, imams, whatever) going from bed to bed in every hospital healing the sick. Of course there are religious people in hospitals going along praying for people but a doctor washing his hand before seeing his patients will do more for their survival rates than the prayers offered by their holy men. The evil God monster of Abraham is an all-powerful God and can do absolutely anything except give any type of viable proof of his existence.
Often times a theist will counter with the old 'God works in mysterious ways' or stammer on about how he's not there for us to boss around and do our bidding in vain attempts to get him to prove himself to us but in reality it's just a bunch of crap. Studies have shown that when sick people are prayed for by fervent believers they are more likely to be healed. Other, more scientific studies have shown that when you allow religious nutbags to carry out their own studies they tend to be skewed towards their religious beliefs. I'm absolutely confident that a prayer method of healing can never stand up to the simple rigors of repeatability.
It is absolutely amazing the wealth of proof to disprove God you can come up with when turning a keen eye upon the absence of God's presence. The millions of children who starve to death, are beaten to death or who are being raped throughout the world is each and every one a testament to the non-existence of a personal God, especially if those children and/ or their parents believe in one of the Abrahamic death cults. And to counter with the idea that God is calling those children who die such horrible deaths to heaven to be with him because he for whatever reason has suddenly decided heaven needs more children is disgusting and vile. If your God is able to 'see all' and watch these children die slow agonizing deaths over months or years due to starvation, malnutrition, rape and outright murder and do nothing or to be able to watch children be repeatedly raped by gangs of men and not smite the men on the spot then your God is either not real or quite malevolent. If you the reader were ever attacked by an adult as a child and an invisible hand didn't swoop in to protect you then you know exactly what I mean. Many victims have often asked, 'Where was god when x happened to me?'"

Author Interview

The Avid Reader: What inspired you to write your Anti-Theist book?
Christopher Mallard: Well, there are lots of different reason which accumulated over time. Atheist, like religion, is something each person approaches in their own way.

The Avid Reader: When or at what age did you know you wanted to be a writer?
Christopher Mallard: I can't really say. I've tinkered with the written word since I was a teen and I guess it finally stuck. It's just something I've always been compelled to do.

The Avid Reader: What genre of books do you enjoy reading?
Christopher Mallard: I'm a fan of science fiction and Dungeons & Dragons style fantasy. The idea of piloting a space ship into battle or gloriously slaying a dragon and saving the fair maiden has always held my fancy and kept me turning pages.

The Avid Reader: What is your favorite book?
Christopher Mallard: The Foundations Edge, a book in the Foundation series by Issac Asimov would have to be my favorite.

The Avid Reader: If you could travel back in time here on earth to any place or time. Where would you go and why?
Christopher Mallard: If I could travel back and forth in time you'd never see my narrow little butt again. I'm a history buff so there are too many places/times to mention but I guess the obvious answer would be that I would start by going back in time and debunking the Abraham/Jesus/Muhammad story and render them to the shelves of mythology where they belong. After that... the future.

The Avid Reader: Do you have any advice for anyone that would like to be an author?
Christopher Mallard: I would say don't write with the hopes of great success or wealth. Take your time and enjoy the process and remember... there's a story inside you that is just dying to get out. Let it.

Book Description:

Aelryk's kingdom is under attack by monsters conjured by a dark sorcerer. His only hope lies far to the west, where a powerful water elemental is rumored to dwell. Along the way, he joins forces with the Wild Elves, who were once his enemy. They alone can lead him through the dangers of the Wildlands. Together, they must journey to a mysterious land of eternal spring and return before the kingdom is overrun by evil.

Prologue:

"I'm sorry, Yillmara," the young elf maid said as she wept. "The child does not live." She held the tiny bundle toward his mother, who slowly took him from the maid's arms. Yillmara looked upon the lifeless face of her tiny son and wept softly. She closed her eyes and pressed him to her breast. After a moment, though still exhausted from the birth, she rose from her bed with her son in her arms.

"You mustn't, my lady! You need to rest!" The maid pleaded with her and touched her arm as if to stop her, but Yillmara continued walking. She made her way from her rooms and stepped out into the light of the dawn. It was a cool spring morning, and the sound of the river danced throughout the forest that was home to Yillmara's people, the Westerling Elves.

Yillmara approached the river slowly, earnestly. She trod lightly so not to offend the Spirit of the river. With her son still in her arms, she walked into the water and fell to her knees, begging for the life of her child. "River Spirit, hear my plea and grant my son his life. He deserves the chance to live, to grow, and to know the beauty of this forest. He should be given the chance to hear the music of the river."

Slowly, she placed the lifeless body of her son into the water. Hoping for an answer from the River Spirit was foolish, she knew, but what matter was that compared to the life of her child. She covered her eyes and wept. As her tears hit the water, she heard a soft voice around her. It caressed her and consoled her grief. The River Spirit had come. The young mother's weeping ceased, and she felt pure serenity. "I will gladly trade my life for his," she said with all the strength of her heart.

With that assurance, the Spirit granted her request. The mother slid gently down into the river, and the child opened his sapphire eyes. The young maid came running to the river's edge along with Yillmara's life mate. The maid took the child from the river and rushed him inside to get him warm.

Though he knew his love's body would fade into the river, Ryllak waded into the water to be near her. He could see her lying serenely in the water, her face peaceful as if sleeping. Reaching his arms out for her came naturally, but it was no use. He could no longer touch his beautiful Yillmara. She was gone forever.

The river had granted the child his life, and in time, the river would reclaim him.

Revenge in Rio
by Samantha Darling

Blurb

Calculated revenge, unexpected passion…

Business magnate Luca Venancio is returning to Rio to pay his respects to his late brother, and to seduce his once fiancée, Daniella, back into his bed. Five years ago she left him without so much as a word, shunning him and the rich life he could offer in exchange for his younger, reckless brother. Now Luca wants revenge-seduce her and dump her, that's all he intends to do.

Blackmailed into a violent farce of a marriage, Daniella had no choice but to comply to protect Luca's life, even though it meant never being able to see him again. Years later, a twist of fate reunites them, throwing her plans of fleeing Rio out of the window and the love of her life straight back in.

Luca's flawless plan soon becomes complicated when he discovers Daniella is expecting his brother's child. It becomes even more complicated when old passions return. Can he actually go through with seducing her, bedding her, and then discarding her?

Excerpt:

"I will get out here," Daniella said, reaching for the door handle.

"No, keep driving," Luca ordered, glaring at the chauffeur and pressing the central lock button.

Although he hadn't been back to the house, he clearly remembered where his brother had lived. It had been his parents' home and he'd grown up there. He would never forget the decrepit building that had desperately needed restoring. Paint had chipped and flaked off of the dreary walls, and the rooms were so small they felt claustrophobic. He'd spent many nights sitting on the roof listening to faint arguments between his parents, whilst he dreamed of a better life.

"You don't think I at least deserve an explanation? Some minor clarification as to why you just left me in the dark?" Luca stared at her intently, and she opened and then quickly closed her mouth again, biting down on her bottom lip until it darkened to a deeper tone of pink.

He kept his eyes on her, not even blinking, as he looked her up and down. She was a shadow of the vibrant girl he remembered; the Daniella he had known five years ago. Sitting beside him now she was scared, the fear was wild in her eyes, and she was clearly malnourished, evident from the black sack of a dress, which hung off her delicate frame.

"When did you last eat something?" It was more of a demand than a question.

"Excuse me?" He finally had her attention.

"You heard me. When did you last eat something?"

"That's none of your business." She pulled the cardigan tighter around her midriff and turned away from him.

"I'm concerned. You look ill."

"Well, I'm not. I'm…I'm…" He watched as she stumbled for her words. "I'm just grieving, okay?"

Fair enough, she may have been grieving for the last twenty-four hours. It was bound to have been a grueling short space of time for her to comprehend Miguel's death and have the customary quick funeral. But what about before Miguel's death? The circles under her eyes and fading blue marks across her jaw were old; her skin and hair were dull and lifeless and told a story.

They sat in silence as the chauffeur strategically maneuvered the Bentley through the favela's never-ending maze of winding roads, passing makeshift house upon house, small street markets, and gangs on each corner. Luca's eyes fixed on the house in front of them when the car eased to a halt a few meters away from their destination, and he recognized it instantly as his childhood home.

Reaching for the door, Daniella pulled on it a couple of times before he pressed the central locking release.

She looked over her shoulder and whispered, "You really have to go now."

He had given in far too easily years ago, this time he was a different man; a man who always got what he wanted, however cruel and ruthless he had to be. He had to remember that. Love had left him weak and feeble. It had taken time to gather himself and learn to never let emotions take over. Work was his haven, a place for him to focus and throw himself and his energy into. He would prove to Daniella that she had made the wrong choice.

Placing a hand on her shoulder, Luca's fingers brushed against her dark curls and the nape of her neck. "I'm not going anywhere this time." He leaned closer, his gaze fixed on her mouth. "I've come for something and I intend to get it."

About the Author:

I live in Essex, not too far from London, with my very understanding husband, our identical twin boys, and two Bedlington Terriers. We're crammed into our rather cozy two-up two-down terrace and we can barely swing a cat, but hey, we love it. I work part-time as a nurse, but when I'm off duty, you will find me either chasing the toddlers around like a headless chicken, head buried in a book, or tapping away at my stories.

I have always loved to read and romance is by far my favorite genre! You can easily escape into such promising worlds, where sexy Alpha males lead the way and strong heroines often can't help but fall head over heels in love. I adore a Happy Ever After, as I'm sure we all do if we're honest, right?

Reading and writing go hand in hand, and from the day I could read, I enjoyed writing. To put pen to paper and conjure up weird and wonderful little stories was what I thrived on! English was my favorite class at school right throughout to secondary, and I will always be thankful for the teachers who gave me the opportunities to develop and be creative! If I remember rightly, one of my first stories was called The Turkey Who Could Talk…but I'll tell you more about that some other day.

Warning: This title is intended for readers over the age of 18 as it contains adult sexual situations and/or adult language, and may be considered offensive to some readers.

Excerpt:

A movement barely inches to her side caught Emily's attention. She turned and swallowed the gasp that rose sharply in her throat.

It was the man who winked at her in the auction room.

He strolled toward her, his shining sea-blue eyes locked on hers. Her courage inside the room promptly abandoned her. Emily's heart turned over. He stood at least half a foot taller than she, his wide shoulders absurdly broad, his confidence disturbing. She bit back a nervous laugh as an entirely inappropriate imagining came unbidden into her mind. Oh, to have him fling her over those shoulders and escape with her into the night!

He flashed her a knowing smile-God spare her, she smiled back.

Never before had a man's gaze enticed such inexplicable naughtiness in her. Danger screamed its warning. What was she thinking? There was no time for dalliance or distraction. Nicholas's gruff cough snapped her attention.

The handsome stranger snatched his gaze from hers and touched his finger to the brim of his hat. "Good afternoon, sir."

Nicholas nodded. "Can I help you?"

"I wanted to offer my congratulations." The man held out his hand. "A very fine win."

After a moment's hesitation, Nicholas took his offered hand. "Thank you. Now, if you'll excuse-"

"Yes, quite the battle you had in there." Fine lines crinkled the corners of the stranger's phenomenal eyes. "Nothing beats a fiery one on one."

He turned and looked directly at Emily, his raised eyebrow referring the sentiment to her rather than Nicholas. She should have been outrageously affronted, yet a burst of delicious excitement rushed through her veins and warmed her body.

I live with my fantastic husband, our two young daughters and my beloved black Labrador, Max in a small market town near the famous Georgian City of Bath. Having always 'played' with writing, I didn't seriously sit down and write toward publication until I became pregnant with my second daughter - then I told myself to get my butt in the chair and get on with it before she grows up and I'm forced to get a real job!

Lots of short stories followed as did lots of rejections! I took a few distance learning courses, joined some online writers groups and basically, learned my craft. Finally deciding short stories weren't working for me (they are an art form in themselves!), in 2006 I decided to embark on my first novel and voila Searching For Sophie was born! Since then, my other books have followed each year.

And when I'm not writing? You'll find me with my head in a book or walking the beautiful English countryside with my family. And in the evening? Well, a well-deserved glass of wine is never, ever refused.

Title: The Voice
By Jennifer Anne Davis
Genre: YA Contemporary Romance

Smashwords | Amazon Kindle | Amazon Paperback | Nook | B&N Paperback

Blurb:

During her abduction and assault, Audrey begins to hear a voice. She hopes she's not going crazy, because after what she's experienced, that's the most logical explanation. However, as she begins to listen to the voice, Audrey realizes that someone may be telepathically trying to help her.

Unfortunately, rescue isn't all she needs. In order to leave behind the constant reminders, she flees to her Aunt Kate's house in San Diego, and assumes a new identity. It works until the eighteen-year-old twin boys who live next door threaten to break through the protective walls she's worked so hard to build.

Between Caleb going out of his way to befriend her and Justin avoiding her at all costs, Audrey doesn't know if normalcy will ever find her again. But one thing is certain: When a familiar danger resurfaces, it's the same voice that she turns to -- a voice that is not only real, but a lot closer than she realizes.

Gripping and tastefully told, The Voice is a story of healing, trust, and courage.

Youtube photo youtube_32.png

My Review:

I received a free copy of the book from the author for my honest opinion.

Audrey is a seventeen year old girl whom was abducted from her home by someone she has known all of her life. Someone she knew and trusted most of the time. She was taken from her home the summer before she would enter her senior year in high school. Audrey had no clue where she was and she couldn't get away as she was kept tied up all the time. Audrey was hurt over and over all summer. But she had some condolence as she could hear a voice in her head. Some guy would talk to her telepathically. He was trying so hard to help Audrey you know help her stay sane not to break down and lose it all. He was very compassionate and Audrey came to depend on this voice that she could hear in her head. The voice in her head helped her to escape.

After Audrey went home to be with her family she was so afraid and she couldn't trust anyone. Audrey couldn't stay in the house that she was abducted from so she left home and went to stay with her mother's sister in California. Her Aunt Kate was a school teacher and she helped Audrey to become someone else and enrolled her at the same school where she worked. Audrey was afraid to stay alone so she went to school. There were two guys that lived next door to her Aunt who helped Audrey by being with her at school. Her Aunt and the two guys' twins Caleb and Justin had classes with her so she was never left alone. Caleb tried real hard to help Audrey all he could. But Justin didn't seem to like her very much at all and he didn't talk to her hardly any at all. He would walk with her to the classes that they had together. Audrey couldn't figure Justin out she knew for whatever reason that she kind of like Justin and it bothered her that he wouldn't talk to her. But at the same time she wasn't ready to have a relationship with anyone.

Audrey thought by going to California and staying with her Aunt Kate that she could leave her summer behind and starts to heal. But what she didn't count on was that the person who had kidnapped her could reach her from jail and was still making her life pure hell. But she was lucky that she had her Aunt and the two guys next door that really cared about her. They all helped Audrey a lot. They helped her to know and realize again that not everybody was bad that there were still some very good folks left in the world. People that still had hearts and could care about someone and keep them safe.

I really and truly love reading The Voice. There was times where I would just right out of the blue start crying. My husband got to the point where instead of asking me if I was ok he would say you still reading that book. And sometimes I would laugh right out loud. There was time when Audrey or one of the guys would do or say something that was just so sweet that you couldn't help but laugh after what she had been through. If you want to read a very great book then you definitely want to read The Voice. I wish or hope that there would be another book about Audrey and the twins. I would like to know how Audrey continues to get better and how she deals with what she has been through. I wouldn't want to see her go through the same thing again but it would be nice to see how she handles living out in the world on her own.

The Voice is one of those books that will grab your attention right from the first page and won't let go until the very last page. It will take you on an emotional roller coaster ride of your life. One minute you will be feeling low and the next you will be soaring in the sky. Warning: while reading The Voice be sure you have a box of Kleenexes sitting beside you at all times because you are going to need them big time.

Excerpt One:

Commander of the Queen's Guard Eric DeStroia tortured the raven-haired courtesan lying beneath him-a surging thrust in, a prolonged, exquisite slide out. With a husky laugh, he hung her on the edge of climax for endless minutes. Eric reveled in her helplessness as he reduced her to abject begging. He enjoyed their "games". Who would break first?
Her control finally crashed, swept up by the tsunami of pleasure he created.
"Please, by all the Gods, Eric, please. Let me come. I can't take any more."
Smiling wickedly, he rolled them over, letting her ride. "Take your pleasure."
He clasped her hips and thrust into her deeply. His strong fingers dented her generous buttocks where he held her spiked on his steel-hard cock.
Inhaling deeply with a low groan, she could not disguise her hunger, her impatience. "Shall I take you with me, lover?"
"Think you can?" He grunted in amusement and shook his head. "You are too greedy, wench. You can't wait."
Grinding her clit along his pubic bone, she managed several long rolls, the inner flesh of her slick vagina massaging his cock with each undulation. With a groan of effort, he slammed up and held her impaled as his hips circled. Her eyes flared as the surge of pressure against her most sensitive parts swept away her dubious control. Writhing, impaled on his rigid cock, she cried out at the spectacular gratification of a long withheld orgasm. Her inner core contracted violently around him. She came forever. He choked on a grunt and finished. She barely noticed.
"Arrogant, hateful man," she muttered, her face buried against his chest. "You might at least pretend to let me win."
"I never pretend."
Limp, she sprawled across his muscled chest, tracing patterns with a manicured nail. "The rumor is you plan to take a squadron of the Queen's Guard to bring back DeLorion's sister from the Oshtesh."
She rolled off his chest, slowly disentangling their sweaty, delicate parts and lay on her back, trying to regain her breath. She rolled to her side, petting his broad chest. "Perhaps your arranged bride will look the other way if you are discreet."
"No. When-if-I marry, I will be faithful. I watched my father kill my mother's soul with his philandering. I respect women too greatly to imitate his ways." He struggled with his anger. "You are a favorite among the courtesans," Eric said. "Your bed won't be cold."
With a small moue of disappointment, she reached out a forefinger and ran it gently up his semi-hard length glistening with their combined fluids. While his heart remained indifferent to her charms, she could definitely affect a lower organ. She caught her lip between her teeth, delighted when his cock twitched in response.
"But none like you." She flashed him a coquettish look and arranged the sheets to cover her small breasts. "You are an outrageously beautiful man, Commander DeStroia, with an extraordinary talent for sex. My body will miss you."
Eric grunted. "I note you don't mention your heart. Come here to me, hussy."
He shifted to gather her into his arms, nestling her head across his chest, moving her slender thigh to rest between his. His hands wandered down her body, stroking muscles that were tight and firm, skin that felt like satin. The flesh of her small breast filled his hand. He caught the hard bud of her nipple and rolled it between his thumb and middle finger. He laughed softly at her moan of appreciation and moved over her, kneeing her legs apart and entering her already wet pussy with a gentle glide.
"Please yourself, lover. I don't think I can come again."
"Hmmm, you can't?" A wicked smile quirked the corner of his mouth. He kissed her lips, nipping gently. "You know 'can't' is not permitted," he whispered against her mouth. His eyes narrowed. "I give you my promise. You will."

Release Week Blitz: The Billionaire Banker By Georgia Le Carre

The Billionaire Banker - Release Week Blitz
By Georgia Le Carre
Contemporary Romance
Date Published: 10/18/2013

Time is running out for Lana Bloom.  She needs money desperately and fast.  And the only thing she has to sell is her body.  When she walks into that exclusive restaurant she does not know that the highest bidder will not be the rich man she has accompanied into the restaurant.

Utterly confident and breathtakingly handsome, Blake Law Barrington is the fourth generation of an illustrious banking family.  He has everything he desires, and everything under control.  As is the custom in the great, old houses, marriage is a time of consolidation and expansion.  Blake is due to marry Victoria Montgomery, daughter of the Fourth Earl of Hardwicke.

If he had left that restaurant five minutes earlier he would not have seen the girl in the cheap, orange dress and the six-inch high, plastic platforms walk in.  His carefully constructed universe would still be intact…and his terrible secret, safe.

EXCERPT

'Have you read Fifty Shades Of Grey?'
Lana looks into Rupert's mean, pale eyes.  'No, but isn't it about a sick man who abuses his lover?'
'Perhaps it is not a sickness, but a matter of taste.'
'Is that what you want from me?'
'In a manner of speaking.  What I really like is taking a woman by force.  A dangerous activity likely to end me behind bars, so I am willing to settle for consensual rape.  You will meet me in parks and alleyways, or I will pick you up in my car from a street corner and you will pretend to resist while I overpower you and rape you.  There will be a bit of pain and sometimes it will involve a little bleeding, but I will never mark your face or leave any permanent scars.  And when I am finished I will leave you in the gutter to make your own way back.  Would that be acceptable to you?'
Shocked to her core, Lana hears her own voice as if from far away say, 'How many times would you expect this…service from me?'
'Let's say five times?'
She feels as if she is a stick-figured bird precariously perched on a thin wire.  Rupert's face is frozen into a cold mask.  A businessman to the end.  Ten thousand must be the going price.  The champagne has made her feel quite light-headed.  He is waiting for something from her. He has already figured that her body is her last option.  Can she really agree to let someone rape her?  Unable to speak she nods.
'Perhaps I should let you lick the brim to taste the poison,' he murmurs, and moves closer to her.  Instinctively, she takes a step back on her tall shoes, and if not for the solid wall against her back, would have fallen.  With the trailing fronds of a palm tree and his big body hiding her from the party his hand comes up to pinch her right nipple.  So hard she gasps in shock and pain.  He takes that opportunity to crash down on her open mouth, bumps his teeth against her lips, and pokes a pointy, muscular tongue into her mouth.  His tongue tastes coppery and bitter.
Copious amounts of saliva pour into her mouth making her want to gag.   The oysters she has not eaten but watched him eat flash into her mind.  His tongue feels slimy and dirty.  She wants to brush her teeth, rinse, spit, and rinse again with the extra-strong mouthwash that her father used to have in the bathroom cabinet.  She truly needs to go somewhere and be sick, but pinned tightly by his strong ox-like body to the wall she finds herself totally unable to move.  She feels his hand force itself between her thighs and slide up quickly.  His rough, sausages-like fingers are already grasping the rim of her knickers and pushing the material aside.  And there is not a single thing she can do about it.  Tears gather at the backs of her eyes and begin to roll down her face.
Suddenly he removes his mouth and looks down at her.  Her face is white with horror and she is gasping for breath.  He brings up a hand and touches her face.  Her distress seems to please him. Her suffering is his pleasure.  She is playing the part perfectly.  If she had enjoyed it, it would have spoilt it for him.
'For most part the symptoms of excitement and fear are so similar most men cannot tell the difference.  I can,' he whispers close to her ear, his thick fingers moving into the folds of her flesh.  'I am going to finger-fuck you amongst all these high and mighty people and none of them will ever know.'
She is filled with loathing for him.  Her brain scrambles for escape. Desperately, she pushes the palms of her hands against his chest.  The nausea threatens at her throat.  She must be sick  'I need the toilet,' she gasps.
He hesitates for a second and then he smiles.  It is the smile of a man who is too pleased with himself.  'It's not very posh to say toilet.  This lot call it the loo.  Go on, then,' he says, and steps aside.
The first thing her shocked, ashamed eyes meet is Blake.  There is a blonde in a long red dress wrapped around him, but he is staring at Lana with an expression that she cannot fathom.

All publicity is good publicity, right? Unless you're recent college grad Ellie Wagner and an embarrassing video of you and your boyfriend goes viral. Every man in your life abandons you, but who knew a one-minute clip of your latest doomed relationship would brand you a slut, prevent you from getting your perfect job, and force you to keep doing the one thing you swore you'd never do again…live with your mother.

But staying with mom and her latest boy-toy (is this husband number four or five?) until your life turns around might not be all bad. Especially when you fall - literally - at the feet of a sexy, green-eyed stranger who offers you freedom and a life of luxury on a gold-rimmed platter.
There's only one liiittle problem - the man of your dreams is none other than Mason Nash, the latest hip-hop star busting up the music charts. Fame and fortune are his calling cards and he's vying to steal the show on a new reality TV series that will catapult him into mainstream stardom. Hello spotlight.

The man behind the famous persona is perfect for Ellie in every way, but can she overcome the ugly pitfalls that come with Mason's celebrity status? Or will she be forced to choose between the man she loves and the independent life she longs for? After all, fame and fortune aren't always what they seem and not all publicity is good publicity…

Book Description:

Socially awkward geneticist Quinn Strickland has willingly forgone the pleasures in life to reach her career objectives. Alone and approaching thirty, she uses her independence to mitigate any risk of a broken heart. Her strategy works until the day a handsome stranger bursts into her lab and her orderly plans shoot straight to Hades. He claims to be her personal divine protector, a powerful, ancient warrior sent to defend a prophetic time bomb existing within her own genetic code.

The Scion's alpha-geek Wyck is offered the opportunity of his immortal lifetime as head of his own covert operation. He arrives at a Colorado lab expecting starched white coats and sterile surroundings-not a redheaded spitfire in charge of both his project and his libido. His skills have carried him from the battlefields of ancient England to the pits of Hell and he has no plans to be felled by one woman, regardless of her shag-worthy charms. Divine duty requires him to protect the apocalyptic Seal encrypted within Quinn's DNA, but his heart has other ideas. When his personal feelings interfere with his age-old vendetta, he's forced to decide between desire and retribution.

Excerpt:

For the band of adopted heavenly brothers known collectively as the Scion, covert ops generally fell into two categories, crashing bore or glorious adventure. And after more than nine hundred years of divine missions, Wyck could tell the difference before the first volley fired.

He double-checked to make sure his ID badge was prominently displayed. Divinity had finally given him a second chance as mission leader and he intended to make sure this operation fell squarely into the epically awesome range despite his less than glamorous surroundings. This time, he vowed, there'd be no messy diversions to waylay his goals, no damsel in questionable distress to shred his heart to smithereens. Nope. This time he was fully prepared and would see his mission through to a successful end.

Wyck trudged up the sidewalk toward the imposing glass and steel Eugenicorp Labs building, craning his neck to see the top of the six-story structure. He was so engrossed in his perusal he nearly squashed a bedraggled squirrel limping across the pavement in front of him. Wyck glanced down and spotted a half-cracked acorn near the toe of his boot. Poor bugger must've dropped it in his hasty retreat.

His first inclination was to reach down and retrieve it, maybe place the nut near the roots of the giant tree where the squirrel now hid. But now wasn't the time to get sidetracked. As his commander, Xander, had already warned him, such kindness had only added to his past failures.

He kicked the nut, watching as it hurtled through the open grassy area surrounding the complex, then strode through the automatic doors and into the cavernous lobby. Empty. Sterile. Utilitarian, covered in gleaming metal and glass. The décor - neutral grays and bland beiges - screamed restraint.

Okay, he amended. Maybe epic and awesome were pushing the envelope for this mission. Best to start with solidly successful. He blinked several times in the early morning sunshine and spotted the pinched, schoolmarm expression of a receptionist across the expanse.

Brilliant.

In his experience, mulish females appeared to be the rule in academia. Just one more reason he steered clear of the smart ones and stuck to his technology. Emotional evisceration was another, but he refused to dwell on that now. Gadgets and science had always been his safe refuge. They trustworthy.

He proceeded across the pristine white-tile floor and when the receptionist steadfastly ignored him, Wyck coughed and summoned his most charming smile. "Hi, I'm Orson Parrot, the new bloke."

The woman glanced up from her computer screen and ran a disdainful eye over him, her glare burning a hole through his extended hand. Her scowl increased as she snatched a clipboard from the desk's immaculate surface and skimmed a bony digit down the list. She tapped her finger twice beside one line and stared back at him, her demeanor cold enough to freeze hydrogen, then pointed toward a pair of glass doors across the lobby. "Through there."

He leaned forward to thank her only to be confronted by a strip of red fabric. Dangling from the receptionist's hand, it swung in crazy, lopsided circles to tap him squarely on the chest. "You'll need this," she said, her tone a perfect match for the Queen's after a distasteful tabloid scandal.

Wyck caught the twirling lanyard, with its attached security keycard, and placed it around his neck. He couldn't resist giving the woman a wink and a grin on his way out, and was delighted when she stiffened like rawhide. A fellow had to have some fun.

He headed toward the double doors across the atrium, his mind ticking with details. This rare shot at redemption, plus the added potential for delivering a digital smackdown to his longtime enemies, the Nephilim, had him jumping at the chance to infiltrate the Eugenicorp's computer system. Getting back in the field again would prove more enjoyable than his usual long hours of tedious research for his brother's quests. Not to mention turning down an assignment from Divinity wasn't really an option. She'd given the Scion many blessings, but freewill over their assignments wasn't one of them.

If his hunches were correct, his new logic bomb would blow the fucking cork right off the half-breeds' schemes for a new world order. By utilizing their legitimate business arm in the human realm, Tolbert International, the Nephilim had been quietly amassing huge quantities of money for centuries, branching out into everything from pharmaceuticals to produce. The Internet had been buzzing for months with rumors of an eminent Tolbert takeover of a genetics research facility and Divinity had sent him to Eugenicorp to make sure those takeover plans didn't include the Seal currently hosted by one head scientist or the top-secret project she commandeered.

He used his new keycard to enter a glass-lined walkway and caught sight of his reflection. Christ Almighty. He'd done a wicked job of turning his normal hipster persona into Orson Parrott-Super Brain Extraordinaire.

Attired in a scholarly turtleneck and khakis, he couldn't have been further from his normal choice of t-shirt and jeans. Between his helmet hair and the tatty, empty briefcase he carried, there was little sign of the tousled charmer who'd enticed a cute barista to bed during his last reconnaissance mission here a few months earlier.

Goodbye quick tumbles. Hello brainy celibate.

Wyck passed from the atrium into another adjoining lobby and glanced at the office number scribbled across his palm in blue ballpoint ink. 5324. He pushed the button for the next arriving elevator, whistling while he waited.

Sure, he'd performed a teensy bit of cyber-fraud by uploading his own credentials and employee demographics into the Eugenicorp HR files and he'd picked out a nice cushy office with a window, close to his target and close to the vending machines. Perfect.

Speaking of his target, the buttoned-down woman wasn't one he looked forward to meeting. From everything he'd read about the third Seal's unwitting host, she was smarter than sin and as enticing as a good bout of bubonic plague. No thank you.

A determined clack of heels echoed against the tile behind him and he swiveled toward the noise, just in time to see a flash of bright red hair barge through the gathering crowd and into the elevator. People stepped back, some headed for the stairs, as if the woman now occupying the compartment might spontaneously combust at any moment.

My Review:

The following review is my opinion and not a paid review. I was given a free copy of the book from the author for my honest opinion.

Quinn for some reason seems to have a chip on her shoulder. All she does when Wyck tries to talk to her is come off with some witty remark. Oh sometimes she does try to be nice but she just can't quite pull it off. Quinn is real good at making witty remarks. She really has some good come backs. They may not be nice but they are good. I mean you got to give her that one. What has happened in her life to cause her to be this way? Even though her mind tells her not trust Wyck her body is telling quite a different story. Every time she is around Wyck her dormant girly-parts stand up and take notice of his manly parts. Well her mind may not care much for Wyck at the moment but her body sure does. And old Wyck's body is having the same problems as Quinn's. His manly parts are also standing at attention.

Wyck has been sent to keep Quinn safe. He is her protector. Quinn doesn't want any part of a protector. She is a big girl and can take care of herself. But Quinn finds herself having feelings for Wyck. Feelings that she wants no part of. She has been there done that kind of thing before and is not going to go through that again. She has sworn off men forever or so she thinks. Wyck is starting to have feelings for her as well. Wyck will do his job and he will not fail again. Besides with what he is starting to feel for her he has declared that he will not let anyone harm Quinn. No one will hurt the one he loves and he will not let Divinity down again. He is very determined to do his job this and he will not fail. He is very happy that Divinity has given him this second chance to prove himself.

Seal Of Awakening will grab a hold of you from the very first word and will not let you go until the very last word is read. Whenever I picked up Seal Of Awakening and had to put it down it wasn't because that is what I choose to do. No way no how. No I never wanted to lay it down but sometimes life does get in the way and you have no choice but to live it. I have truly loved reading Seal Of Destiny book #1 and Seal Of Surrender book #2 in the Seven Seal Series and I can't wait for the next book in the series book #4. I can't wait to read and know more about the other characters in the series. I can't wait to find out who the fourth seal is. If you have not read the Seven Seal Series yet then I suggest that you start with the first book in the series. If you like reading about mythology, Nephilim, Scions and the end of the world kind of things then you are going to love the Seven Seal Series.
