Imaginable

"Luke," Sera said, her eyes were slits, her hands on her hips.

"Sera," Luke said, doing his best to look innocent.

"Do not take my picture." She hadn't even reached up to try to get the tangles out of her hair yet, though he knew she had to be itching to do it.

"It won't work anyway," Fey said, as the last of the pixies departed. "You can't take pictures inside the Realm."

Luke lowered his phone, turned to her. "You mean it's not allowed?"

"No, I mean it's not possible," Fey said. "Pictures of this place won't show up in the Real world. They'll just be blank."

"Why?" Sera said. She was using her fingers now to untangle her hair.

"Because in the Real world, the Realm doesn't exist," Fey said. She reached up to help Sera with her hair. "Next time don't encourage them to gather," she said. "They cannot resist the call-flower pixies are very curious-and they're also a little mischievous as well."

"How was I encouraging them?" Sera said. "I was just standing here minding my own business. They came to me."

"Maybe Sera's a pixie magnet," Luke said.

"Not," Sera said, "helpful."

"Not," Luke replied, "trying to be." He watched her press her lips together and try to look grumpy, but she couldn't quell her laugh. It bubbled up out of her despite her efforts. Luke grinned.

Mission accomplished.

Character Interview - Sera:

Nancy: I would like to welcome Sera to The Avid Reader today. We are so glad you could join us.

Sera: Thanks, Nancy. I'm glad to be here.

Nancy: Sera, we know that you have the ability to heal. What is that like for you physically and emotionally?

Sera: I don't usually talk about this with anyone, you know other than Luke and other Gifteds, because it tends to freak them out. But I guess since you're not freaking, I can tell you. There's this light that I feel come down through my head and flow down my arms, through my hands, and into the person I'm healing. It feels really warm, sometimes even hot if the person is really hurt. It's amazing watching someone heal right before your eyes. I wish everyone knew what it was like.

Nancy: So tell us about Marc. What do you think the real reason for his leaving was? Do you think he was just using you or do you think he actually did love you?

Sera: Oh, Marc. I don't know. I don't really like to talk about him much. But after everything with the Shadows and Lilith…I think it was just too much. He didn't want that to be his life. Which I totally understand now. But I do think he cared, you know? I mean he came into the Shadowlands. That says something, doesn't it?

Nancy: What about Jonas? Now that Marc has left do you think you and Jonas may one day hook up? What are your feelings for Jonas?

Sera: Oh, boy. Wow. Jonas? I mean, who's going to see this interview? Does Jonas read your blog because I don't want him seeing this. Jonas. Yeah, he's…amazing, you know? He's just…god, you should see him in the Realm. Or, well, maybe you shouldn't. He's irresistible there. Oh my god, I can't believe I just said that. Luke is never going to let me live that down.

Nancy: How did you feel when you found out you and Luke were adopted?

Sera: That was huge, right? I guess a part of me was shocked and a part just thought it totally made sense. I mean, Luke and I are so different from our parents. I always thought that was just because we were twins-that our closeness made us feel different-but that's not all it was. And finding out that we really are different…well, it just fit. I understood that.

Nancy: How did you feel towards Fey when you found out she was keeping secrets from you and Luke?

Sera: Honestly, it hurt at first. But she had to do it, and I get that. I mean, it's kinda like how Luke and I keep secrets from Mom. She doesn't know what we can do because she'd freak. She wouldn't believe us. And so we don't tell her. Just like Fey.

Nancy: How is Luke handling Fey and her secret? Do you think that Luke and Fey will admit to how they feel about each other? To themselves and or to each other?

Sera: Oh, now here's something we can talk about! Luke has been drooling over Fey forever-not that he's said much, but he doesn't have to. I know him. And I think he's ready to take that next step with her. At least I hope so. I'm all for it-I think they'd be great together.

Nancy: When you are not healing people or trying to stay alive what do you like to do?

Sera: Oh, I like hanging out with my friends, getting coffee or tea at Muddy Waters. And I paint. A lot. And read.

Nancy: What are your plans for the future? College? A family of your own one day?

Sera: Wow, um, yeah. College and a probably a family. That's still so far away, but I hope so.

Nancy: If you do go to college. What do you plan on majoring in?

Sera: I'm thinking about art, but I know I should have a fallback. Except I don't really want one. I just want to paint and draw.

Nancy: What is your favorite flavor of Ice Cream?

Sera: Ben & Jerry's Chocolate Fudge Brownie (with chocolate sprinkles, of course).

Nancy: Do you and Luke ever argue like other siblings?

Sera: Oh boy, when we get mad at each other…yeah, it's not pretty. But, I don't know, we never stay mad. We get over it right away, I guess because it's always seemed like the two of us against the world.

Nancy: What is your favorite class in school?

Sera: Art, of course. But I also like English too.

Nancy: Thanks for visiting with us today Sera. Whatever you decide for your future we hope you are happy. We have really and truly loved reading about your adventures and hope to read more. All you guys stay safe and well.

Sera: Thanks, Nancy. It's been really nice talking with you, too. :-)

Red mirrored scales race up my arms as the haze of pain blurs my vision. My bones crack, breaking to realign. I scream. It is then that the realization of my unavoidable fate sinks in; I am of a dying race. I am dragon.

In the dark of night, a crazed Seer, dubbed Mr.Creepy, erases everything she's ever known with an impending prophecy. She now faces two paths. Return to her true home to protect a dying race against a growing evil, or stay hidden in the safety of our realm with a shot at a true love. Excerpt Three:

From Chapter 3

As I walked Mr. Creepy to the door and went to lock it behind him, his arm shot out and grabbed onto my wrist in a sumo death grip. The pupils to his eyes went white, churning the building fear in my stomach. His grip tightened. And then he spoke: "Of dragon born, a conqueror prevails. The chosen one fated to protect the dying race. Third of three deemed protector to the progeny. The other marked for revenge. The book of life pages turn yet unwritten. The canvas to your mortal soul. The connection to your immortal enemy. A death will come to He that breaks the barrier."

A flash of white so bright it nearly blinded me shone through his eyes while he spoke, and then he blinked them back to normal. That sound of his voice, the sound of a thousand voices speaking through one, resounded in my head.

"Let GO of me!" I yelled. Fenn was already behind me, circling his arm around my waist and yanking the guys grip off of me. He shoved the guy back, moving to close the door, but I stopped him, my heart beating wildly against my chest.

"Don't," I cried out, shoving Fenn out of the way as I rushed to face Mr. Creepy again. A better time to get answers couldn't have slapped me in the face any harder.

"Who are you?" I asked, breath rushing out of me while holding the door open. Mr. Creepy stood still, eyes unmoving.

"Rory, get back, he's dangerous. Didn't you see what just happened? Don't do this," Fenn pleaded. I jerked my head around to face him, scrunching my eyes in annoyance, and said, "Just give me a minute."

He huffed and then stepped back, clearly angry with me.

I turned to Mr. Creepy. "You can't just waltz in here, stalk me all day, then go all prophet on me and not explain who you are and why you are doing this to me." I grabbed his pasty arm and pulled him back into the restaurant. Everyone had left so I figured this was the best place to confront him. "So again I ask, who are you?"

I crossed my arms and waited, impatiently tapping my foot as the silent seconds seemed to drag on forever.

His chest puffed up. "I am the answer to your questions." He stuck his chin out. "And here you stand so defiant and demanding answers while you should be questioning who you are."

I stepped back towards Fenn, seeking that protected feeling he always gave off, as the reality of what Mr. Creepy had said hit home.

"Why do you think I stopped you?" My eyes fell to the floor. "Obviously because I do question who I am," I rushed out. "Instead of mocking me, why don't you try explaining? The pendant…your eyes…my eyes…my strange abilities with fire. Why is all of this happening?" I asked boldly.

"Because you are the progeny, the chosen one," he answered, pausing to let it sink in. I took a step back.

"The progeny? To what? What am I chosen for?"

Author Interview:

The Avid Reader: What inspired you to write Born in Flames?

Candace Knoebel: I had previously thought of the idea back in 2007, but never tried to sit down and write. Probably because I didn't think I could. It came back to me in 2009 after I finished a series that left me feeling empty when complete. I didn't want to read anything else for awhile and for some reason, the idea popped back up and I figured I would write some of it down. At that point in time I had no idea that it would shape into a novel, thusly changing my goals in life.

The Avid Reader: When or at what age did you know you wanted to be a writer?

Candace Knoebel: I was 22 when I wrote my first novel (this novel). Before that, I had never considered myself a writer. I loved writing, I just didn't know that I could make a career out of it. But when the idea struck me for this trilogy, it struck hard and I couldn't resist writing it. When it was complete, the feeling inside of me was one that I would forever be addicted to.

The Avid Reader: What is the earliest age you remember reading your first book?

Candace Knoebel: I was around 11. I was given the first novel in the Harry Potter series and was hooked from then on to reading.

The Avid Reader: What genre of books do you enjoy reading?

Candace Knoebel: Young adult, anything fantasy, paranormal, dystopian, new adult…I guess I will try to read anything.

The Avid Reader: What is your favorite book?

Candace Knoebel: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.

The Avid Reader: You know I think we all have a favorite author. Who is your favorite author and why?

Candace Knoebel: J.K. Rowling because she was my first novel and her words and world was so believable and real. It was magic.

The Avid Reader: If you could travel back in time here on earth to any place or time. Where would you go and why?

Candace Knoebel: Oh man, I'm not sure I would. I love where I am at right now. I think going back would be not only a culture shock, but confusing.

The Avid Reader: When writing a book do you find that writing comes easy for you or is it a difficult task?

Candace Knoebel: I think it has its ups and downs. Most days it flows pretty easily, but I am prone to writers block just like anyone else. It all depends on the day, my mood, what point in the story I am at, and what is happening in my life at that moment.

The Avid Reader: Do you have any little fuzzy friends? Like a dog or a cat? Or any pets?

Candace Knoebel: Lol, yes I do! I have a dog and two cats. My dog's name is Lily and she is a beagle/hound mix we rescued from the pound. My two cats are males, Cleotus and Jasper, and were rescued from the mall. Strangely, they all get along.

The Avid Reader: What is your "to die for", favorite food/foods to eat?

Candace Knoebel: Any form of Spanish food is my favorite. I could eat it every single day.

The Avid Reader: Do you have any advice for anyone that would like to be an author?

Candace Knoebel: Take in the good and ignore the bad. You can't please everyone and don't expect to. It's just the way the world works. Also, don't give up. If you want it, don't let opinions sway you from your dream. Your dreams are all you have.

ABSOLUTION

The Penton Legacy, Book 2

Susannah Sandlin

Paranormal Romance

Release date: October 9, 2012

Publisher: Montlake Romance

Ebook

307 pages

With the vampire world on the brink of civil war over the scarcity of untainted human blood, battle lines are being drawn between the once peaceful vampire and human enclave of Penton, Alabama, and the powerful Vampire Tribunal.

A Scottish gallowglass warrior turned vampire in the early 17th century, Mirren Kincaid once served the Tribunal as its most creative and ruthless executioner-a time when he was known as the Slayer. But when assigned a killing he found questionable, Mirren abandoned the Tribunal's political machinations and disappeared-only to resurface two centuries later as the protector and second-in-command of Penton. Now the Tribunal wants him back on their side-or dead.

To break their rogue agent, they capture Glory Cummings, the descendant of a shaman, and send her to restore Mirren's bloodthirsty nature. But instead of a monster, Glory sees a man burdened by the weight of his past. Could her magic touch-meant by the tribunal to bring out a violent killer-actually help Mirren break his bonds and discover the love he doesn't believe he deserves?

It's a town under siege, a powerful warrior in a battle with his past, and one woman who can make the earth move-literally-as the Penton Legacy continues.

Amazon | Barnes & Noble | Book Depository

Excerpt:

What was Matthias thinking, throwing a human woman in the cell with a vampire who'd been locked up and starved for over a month?

Mirren waited on the bench, his back against the wall, his head down. Waited until Matthias climbed the steps, slammed the door, clicked the dead bolt home. Waited until he could get control of the hunger that had begun raging the second the woman stumbled down the stairway. She was invaccinate, and he wanted nothing more than to take her, blood and body, until there was nothing left.

If he did that, he'd be no better than the version of Mirren Kincaid he'd tried so hard to leave behind. He'd be the Slayer again. His hands could too easily remember the mindless sweep of the sword, the heavy fall of the battle-ax, the controlled back-thrust of a heavy firearm. If the cold darkness ever fell over him again, he feared he'd embrace it.

"Mister, you awake?"

Shit. She would have to be a talker. Mirren hated a talky woman. They always expected you to talk back.

He raised his head slowly and caught his breath. She was young, maybe mid-twenties, and pretty in a rode-hard kind of way.

"Your eyes are silver-I've seen enough vampires since I was kidnapped to know when your eyes get lighter, it means you're hungry. But I've never seen any like yours. How long has it been since you ate? Umm…Make that how long since you drank?"

If the stupid woman kept walking toward him, he wouldn't be held responsible. "Stay where you are." He narrowed his eyes at her, thinking. How could she help him without sending his need so far over the edge he lost control of it?

She eeked when he shifted on the bench and turned his back toward her. "Untie me."

She stumbled a little when she reached the bench and sat hard. The woman was stoned out of her gourd. He could smell the drugs on her. "Your wrists are all torn up. That has to hurt." She sat on the bench behind him, and Mirren breathed in her scent with his eyes closed. Damn, but he wanted to feed so badly his muscles ached.

She muttered as she worked, her drug-addled fingers slipping off the rope. "You're so big that I'm surprised this rope could hold you. I should be able to…Let's see here, it's too dark. Man, this is funky rope."

"Stop yapping, start untying." She had that broad, soft Southern accent he found sexy, but she used it way too much.

"Yeah, yeah, okay." She tugged harder on the ropes, burning his sensitive wrists with each pull. "Sorry, sorry. Why is it burning your skin like that?"

Mirren growled and spoke through gritted teeth. "It's laced with silver, and I'm a freaking vampire. Just untie me." Damn, he had to get himself under control, or he'd scare the woman to death and she wouldn't finish freeing his arms or feed him either one.

"Well, you've got the funny eyes, but I don't see any fangs."

God help him, he'd show her some fangs. "I said I was a vampire. Now finish untying me."

Mirren twisted his wrists and felt the rope give way-the woman had gotten it loose enough that he didn't need her help.

"But wait, how do I know you-"

She gasped as Mirren pulled his wrists apart, popped the rope onto the cell floor, and shifted around to face her. "Can you…?" She paused and swallowed hard, edging away from him on the bench. Mirren's gaze dropped to her mouth. "Can you feed without killing me?"

Mirren nodded slowly. Maybe. Maybe not.

My Review:

The following review is my opinion and not a paid review. I was given a free copy of the book from the author for my honest opinion.

In Redemption book #1 of the Penton Legacy Aidan Murphy has set up his own little town in Penton, Alabama. A town where humans and vampires live together in harmony. There was a pandemic outbreak where most of the humans in the world died. The humans were vaccinated causing a shortage in the vampire's food supply. Vampires cannot feed from humans that has been vaccinated it will kill them. This is the reason Aidan set up his own little town. He took in humans that were down on their luck and had not been vaccinated. The humans came to live there of their own free will. Vampires needed unvaccinated blood and the humans needed a place to live. The humans that live in Penton are bonded to a vampire so that no other vampire can feed from them and to keep them safe.

Aidan's second in command Mirren Kincaid is taken hostage by Aidan's enemy Matthias Ludlam who just happens to be Will's father who is probably Aidan's third in command. Will figures out which one of his father's many homes that he more than likely took Mirren. Will goes alone to his father's home to rescue Mirren and bring him back to Penton. When he gets there and breaks Mirren out of the cell that Matthias has locked Mirren in he sees that Mirren has a girl locked in with him. Matthias kidnapped Glory Cummings to feed from her blood is pure and has not been contaminated. Matthias feeds from her and lets his buddies feed from her as well. When he can't get the info from Glory that he wants he has Glory locked in Merrin's cell thinking that he will feed from her and kill her with him being very hungry from not feeding in a long time.

Merrin at one time worked for the Vampire Tribunal as an executioner and known as the Slayer. Merrin got tired of killing for no reason and faked his own death for centuries. When Matthias found out that he was still alive he thought he could lock him up and talk him into coming back to work for the Tribunal as the Slayer. When starving him did not do any good he decided to put Glory in the cell with him thinking he would feed from her and kill her. If he killed her then it would change him and he would become the Slayer again. But what Matthias did not think about was the fact that the Slayer died a long time ago. Merrin may still be alive but the Slayer is dead.

Will rescues Merrin and Glory and takes them home to Penton. With Glory's background she decides to stay in Penton. Aidan tells Merrin that if Glory stays then he becomes responsible for her. Glory becomes Merrin fam and he bonds with her to keep her safe and to keep other vampires from feeding from her and killing her.

Matthias is very upset when he finds out that Merrin and Glory are gone. He wants Merrin to work for the Tribunal and his son back that he goes to Penton to get them back. Matthias plans on using Glory as bait to get Merrin back after he finds out that they are bonded. But he doesn't know how smart Glory is and what she can do. Will Merrin give in to his demands? Will his son; Will go with his father to be his lap dog? What is going to happen to Penton after Matthias makes his intentions clear?

I think Aidan is a very smart man to set up his own little town where he and his vampires can have their own food supply. Not only is he taking care of his vampires he is also giving humans a home. A home they would not have if it was not for him. Matthias is jealous of Aidan and his town. If he had thought of the idea first and created his own little world then he would probably think it was a good ideal. Matthias is someone who likes to be in control and wants everything his way.

Penton Legacy is full of twist and turns that will keep you turning page after page until the last page is turned. You just have to know what is going to happen next. This is the first vampire book I have read where if a human and vampire were bonded another vampire could not feed from them. I think this is a very cool for the vampire world. I loved Redemption and Absolution both and can't wait to read the third book Omega.

If you like vampire books then you are going to love the Penton Legacy. Absolution is written in such a way that you could read it first but I don't suggest it because you would be missing out on a lot of important things that happen in Redemption not to mention a good book.

Sam can read minds she loves to paint and wants nothing more than to go to college to become an artist. Sam lives at her school Rent-A-Kid where they teach her how to use or control her para-power. While Sam reads minds her friends have different powers like walking through walls, being able to tell if someone is lying or one of her friends can make anyone like her or attracted to her. Well everyone except Luke and this frustrates Mary to no end.

Sam has been told all her life that when she reached the age of eighteen she could go out in world and live her life the way she wanted. But she learns that this is all a lie. No one is ever free from Rent-A-Kid. They told them that they were just taking care of them to keep them safe from the people on the outside. They teach them to keep their powers hidden from others.

When she turns eighteen she finds out that they have lied to them their whole lives. When they turn eighteen they are taken to another part of Rent-A-Kid and used as breeders. The girls are impregnated without being told. They are trying to make a baby with stronger para-powers.

Sam meets and falls in love with Drake when he connects with her in their minds. Drake can make people do what he wants them to do with his mind. Sam and Drake escape but they have to stay on the run and one step ahead of Rent-A-Kid. They want their baby and will do what they need to do to get her. But Sam has other plans no way will she let them have her baby.

Luke and Lucy along with some other kids at the school find a way out. But it is not easy with all the new security they have placed on the school since Sam and Drake escaped. They don't know who their friend is or who their enemy is. They have to depend on each other to stay alive and to keep from being taken for a ride a second time. They have to fight for their lives and their freedom.

The Forbidden trilogy is one fantastic set of books and Kimberly Kinrade is one awesome writer. I loved all three books in the series, Forbidden Mind book #1, Forbidden Fire book #2 and Forbidden Life book #3. I think they just kept getting better and better with each book. If you have not read The Forbidden Trilogy then this is one book you need to read if you like paranormal and even if you don't hey give it a try. Who knows you might just like it.

Sam lives on campus at the Rent-A-Kid School for people with para-powers. Sam can read minds. Sam is also an artist and has a black belt in martial arts. The Rent-A-Kids school rents Sam and her friends out to the rich people. They go on jobs or assignments for these rich people and use their para-powers for whatever they need or want.

Sam is seventeen years old and dreams of the day when she turns eighteen, graduates and can go to college to be an artist. The people at the school have always told them when they turned eighteen they could then leave the school and start their own lives. Sam and her friends Luke and Lucy, twins have always dreamed of this day. Although they have been happy at the school and the school has always provided for their needs. They have always lived at the school so they don't know what goes on in the outside world and therefore cannot know any different. They don't know that they are being used and held prisoner.

When Sam meets Drake or rather their minds link together she finds out that the Rent-A-Kids have lied to her and her friends. While Sam reads minds Drake controls minds. Sam has always been able to read minds but talking to someone in her head is something new for her. When Drake contacts her and asking for help she finds out that she has been lied too. Drake never lived at the Rent-A-Kid school. Drake lived in different foster home while growing up. Drake has always tried to keep his para-power hidden from everyone except his best friend Brad. Drake is a surfer and dreams of being a professional. Someone finds out about Drake's para-power and kidnapped him and takes him to a hospital and keeps him tied up.

Can Sam save herself? Can she save Drake? Will they both make it out alive? Does Sam and Drake meet? What do you think it would be like to meet someone you have only known in your mind?

I first fell in love with Kimberly Kinrade's writing when I read and reviewed all three of her novels in the Seduced Saga; Rose's Trilogy and loved them. After reading them I knew I then had to read The Forbidden Trilogy. Kimberly Kinrade is now one of my favorite authors. I loved the Secured Saga from the first page and now after reading Forbidden Mind it just keeps growing. I honestly don't know which I like the best. But if I had to choose one or the other I think it would probably be the Forbidden Trilogy no wait the Seduced Saga no, no, I don't know. All I know is that Kimberly Kinrade is one of the best writers ever.

I loved Sam, Drake, Luke, Lucy and all the characters in The Forbidden Trilogy. I loved that they had para-powers. But I don't think I would want to read anyone's mind because I would probably get my heart broke. I wouldn't want to be able to make someone do something they didn't want to do. That would be so wrong to invade someone's privacy like that. Wrong and immoral. I would think that having someone read your mind would be like being violated. But hey I really, really loved reading Sam and Drake's stories. I think everyone should read The Forbidden Mind.

"She escaped, but she'll never be free."

"Time held no meaning as my mind darted in and out of memories. Past and present collided to create a full-sensory collage out of my life: playing hide-n-seek with my best friends Luke--who always cheated by walking through walls when he was about to be caught--and Lucy; Mr. Caldrin critiquing my sketches and offering ideas to make them more realistic; targets changing faces, blending into the same person, their thoughts rippling through my mind like waves. Through it all, a demon stalked me from the shadows of my memories, never quite showing its face, but crouching, waiting.

And then I dreamed...."

Sam and Drake may have escaped, but they aren't free-not with a powerful Seeker after them. As Sam struggles with the ethics of her new powers and embraces a blossoming physical relationship with Drake, Lucy and Luke face challenges of their own.

With forces coalescing inside and outside the Rent-A-Kid dorms, it's only a matter of time before the fire they started forces each of them to make choices they can't undo. But will it be enough to save them?

My Review:

The following review is my opinion and not a paid review. I received a free copy of the book from the author for my honest opinion.

Sam and Drake have finally escaped from the Rent-A-Kid school and are on the run hiding from them. Meanwhile back at the school Luke, Lucy and the other kids there are all being treated like prisoners with guards posted around every corner. Drake wants to use his powers to help them but Sam is against it. She thinks it is not right to control someone's mind. She doesn't want to use her own powers either not since Drake used mind control on her when they escaped.

Luke, Lucy and some of the kids have formed a group to try and escape. They are making plans that will get them all out. Luke and Lucy are sent on an assignment they both think something is wrong it just doesn't feel right to them. They think that this will be their last assignment and that they will never return to the school.

Sam found out in Forbidden Mind that she could connect with Lucy by using her new powers. Their powers are growing and getting stronger. Lucy tells Sam what is happening at the school. Sam tries to help Lucy and Luke come up with a plan that will get them all out safely. Sam like Lucy can feel that something is about to happen but they don't know what it is. Sam finds out that she is carrying Drake's baby and she hasn't even met him yet well actually she learned this back at the school before they escaped.

Man I just love this series. I love that we get to get inside all of the characters heads and minds and know what each one is feeling or thinking. I really do love reading different pov's. Kimberly Kinrade knows how to make you see Sam's, Drake's, Lucy's and Luke's world through her eyes. She also knows how to make you feel what they feel if their happy then you are happy if they are sad then you are sad. You get lost in their world and forget that you world exist. Now on to the next book Forbidden Life.

Luke and Lucy uncover secrets in an organization they thought they could trust, and the lives of all Rent-A-Kid children are at stake.

In this last Forbidden Trilogy installment, the secrets to Rent-A-Kid will finally be revealed.

My Review:

The following review is my opinion and not a paid review. I received a free copy of the book from the author for my honest opinion.

Well Sam and Drake are back in Forbidden Life the final book of The Forbidden Trilogy with Sam about to pop with her and Drake's baby Ana. Drake has left Sam because she accidently took his powers from in Forbidden Fire. He thinks he can't protect Sam and Ana without his powers. Sam doesn't care about his powers she only cares about him. Drake is acting very childish by leaving Sam she when she is about to give birth to their baby. Run away instead of facing up to your responsibilities. But you know Drake has his own things and ways of dealing with them. He hurt Sam very much by leaving but Drake doesn't know this he thinks he is doing what is best for her and the baby.

Sam has to hide from the Rent-A-Kids they want her and her baby because they will hold the strongest powers ever. I was very surprised to find out who was after Sam and Ana. I was worried for a while that Sam would not get out alive. I was afraid for Drake I felt real bad for him too. Sam has come to a point where she doesn't know who she can trust or not trust anymore. But she will do whatever it takes to save her baby and the ones she loves.

In Forbidden Life there is a new group of people that is trying to put a stop to Rent-A-Kids. And with this new group comes a new character Hunter whom Lucy strikes some spark with. Hunter is just as much a hero as Drake is in the end. I was real glad that Lucy found some to care about her like Sam did. I was so sad to see this series end. I would very much like to know more about Lucy and Hunter's relationship. Will they get together? What kind of life will Sam and Drake have now with a child that a lot of people want to get their hands on? What about Luke? Where are they all going from here? How strong is Ana's powers and what all can she do?

BOOK DESCRIPTION
A Gift for Emily

A Gift for Emily picks up right where A Kiss for Emily leaves off. She is discovering that dating a ghost, solely composed of dense water molecules, has more challenges than she ever imagined. And when a bouquet shows up on the doorstep from an unknown suitor, life really gets complicated.

MY REVIEW
A Gift for Emily

The following review is my opinion and not a paid review. I received a free copy of the book from the author for my honest opinion.

In A Kiss for Emily she was looking for that one special kiss. Emily had a boyfriend Alex but they broke up. Alex's dad killed himself which took Alex over the edge and into drugs. After all of this happing to her Emily's parents decide to move them to the country. Emily is not happy about the move at all. Until she meets a new guy named Sam. Sam and Emily start hanging out together mostly at Sam's place. Sam helps take Emily's mind off all of her problems of losing her boyfriend and having to move.

And now in A Gift for Emily she is still waiting on her special, romantic kiss. She wants Sam to give her that kiss but Sam is a ghost and tells Emily that they can't kiss because if they did it would bind their souls together and when the reaper came for him or more like found him to take him to hell then he would take Emily with him. There is no way Sam will ever let that happen he cares and loves her too much. Sam tells Emily that if he could still a body and take over that body then he could kiss her. But Emily is not sure about stealing a body because it is not right. Emily believes that it would be wrong and immoral for them to steal a body.

Emily starts receiving gifts from an unknown admire who when leaving a note with the gifts address them to the lovely Emily Stokes. At first I really thought I knew who was sending Emily the gifts but then more characters were introduced into the plot and I was like well I don't know who is stalking Emily now. Emily herself thought she knew who it was too but then at other times she was in wonder land trying to figure it out. All she knew was that her stalker had now involved her family. Emily was getting fed up with everything and everyone. She was getting mad about being stalked and not getting the kiss she wants. Emily is tired of sitting around and waiting for her stalker to come after her and her family she is ready to fight. Either way she could die and she figures she might as well go down fighting.

A Kiss for Emily and A Gift for Emily are both very great reads. I like that Emily's boyfriend was ghost and the reason they could not kiss. Even if their souls didn't bond and she would be taken to hell with Sam how would you kiss a ghost anyway? I mean you can't touch him and they can't touch you. I mean not really or in a physical way. I also loved Emily's little sister Kitty she was a trip for a seven year old. With all the things she said and the come backs that she had was awesome for a girl her age. The ending is very surprising and it is also a cliffhanger. I never expected what happened to happen not in a million years. I cannot wait to read the next book in The Emily Stokes series. Will Emily loose Sam? Will Sam and Emily be together? Or will Emily end up with the deputy? Or maybe she will and can love both of them in her own way.

If you have not read A Kiss for Emily or A Gift for Emily then I suggest that you read both of them today. You really don't know what you are missing out on. As I have said before they are both great reads.

Review of Unholy Testament - Full Circle By Carole Gill

Unholy Testament - Full Circle

by Carole Gills

Unholy Testament Full Circle Cover photo UnholyTestament-FullCircle-CaroleGill.jpg
Genre: Gothic Romance/ Paranormal
Publisher: Gothic Rose Press
Release Date: March 3rd 2013

Book Description:

BOOK 3 IN THE BLACKSTONE VAMPIRES SERIES All of the hideous secrets of Blackstone House and its inhabitants are revealed in this, the third book in The Blackstone Vampires Series.

Rose Baines continues to be held captive by the demon Eco (Unholy Testament – The Beginnings) and must read the rest of his journal which is a confession of all of his sins.

The rest of the journal focuses on the characters that have haunted Rose’s living life and undead existence. But primarily, Eco’s journal tells of the sick and twisted obsession he has had for Blackstone House’s former mistress, evil and debauched Eve Darton.

This is gothic horror at its darkest. Eco’s lustful relationship with Eve is told against the backdrop of aristocratic devil rites, both in England and France, including satanic sacrifices; continuing to the Great Fire of London 1666. Along the way there are plagues, vampire destroyers and witch hunts and of course vampires!

Human evil and supernatural evil are explored in detail. There are Resurrection men who supply a necrophile doctor. Every vice and evil is examined including the hideous truth of Rose’s father and the reasons he murdered her family.

Every evil that Rose Baines was subjected to is closely examined as are those who committed the worst sins against her.

This is not light reading and although there is romance within the story, the darkness that surrounds it is relentless.

Two new characters are introduced at the end of the novel. These two feature in the fourth book which is entitled, The Fourth Bride. Also included is the book cover.

My Review:

The following review is my opinion and not a paid review. I received a free copy of the book from the author for my honest opinion.

Unholy Testament - Full Circle picks up where Unholy Testament - The Beginnings left off. Rose and the children, Ada and Simon are still being held hostage by the evil demon Eco. Eco is using the children against Rose so that he can make her read his journal, a testament of his life that he wrote specifically for Rose. Eco has fallen in love with Rose and wants her for himself. But Rose will never love Eco she has given her heart to Louis Eco's cousin. Eco claims to love Rose but I wonder if he is capable of loving anyone. Eco was also in love with Louis' wife before Rose. On one hand I think he loved Eve and now he loves Rose but on the other hand I think he has always been jealous of Louis' and wants what he has. I think he only wants what belongs to Louis. He wants to get back at Louis for being a better person or vampire than he is.

Eco has done some mean and evil things in his life. He has used people and killed them just to see them suffer. He enjoys seeing people hurt and in pain. But at the same time he also cares for some people and has a soft spot in his heart for them. But if it serves his purpose he would kill his own mother if it would benefit him. The things he has done in his lifetime is beyond shocking. Eco believes after Rose reads his testament she will love him back. Even if she doesn't love him he will take her for himself no matter what Rose or anyone else says about it. In his mind she will be his one way or another he doesn't care how as long as she is his.

Rose is afraid of Eco and is only trying to buy time with Eco until they reach land. For now she is trying to tell Eco what she thinks he wants to hear. She doesn't want to make him mad she if afraid of what he would do to the children. Once they reach land she hopes she has come up with a plan to save herself and the children. Hopefully Rose and the children can make their escape from Eco once they reach land.

Unholy Testament - Full Circle is full of dark, gory, evil and heinous twist and turns which keeps your adrenaline going. Unholy Testament - Full Circle with all of the horrific things that goes on in it is just right up my alley. And believe me you definitely get plenty of evil in Unholy Testament - Full Circle. The ending left me with my mouth hanging open it was so surprising. I never expected it but I loved it.

I love this series The Blackstone Vampires; I have loved it since the first page of The House on Blackstone Moor. The next book Unholy Testament - The Beginnings was just as amazing as the first book. And the third book Unholy Testament - Full Circle was even better. I don't honestly know which one was the best. I can't make that choice. I can't wait for the fourth book in the series The Fourth Bride hopefully due to be released this summer.

Book Blitz Tour: Blizzard By Taryn Kincaid

Title: Blizzard

Series: The Edge

Author: Taryn Kincaid

Genre: Erotica, Erotic Romance, Erotic Contemporary Romance

Publisher: Decadent Publishing

Format: Ebook

Length: 20 pages

Purchase: Decadent | Amazon | Barnes & Noble | All Romance | Smashwords | CoffeeTime

Book Description:

Mandy Malone ditches her pharmaceutical convention and the married male colleagues hitting on her to hurry home to her waiting family. But she doesn't bank on the blizzard that forces her off the road and into a deserted rest stop. When she meets another road refugee, their attraction is immediate and molten hot. Suddenly, getting stranded doesn't seem like such bad luck after all.

Although totally unprepared for Mandy's unvarnished proposition, Jack is intrigued by the erotic offer of a promising night of no-questions-asked sex. But when he notices the wedding band on Mandy's finger, will he forego the lure of a torrid clandestine affair, or give in to the fantasy of blazing hot sex on a wintry night?

Excerpt:

She rooted around in her handbag again, on the off chance she’d missed something useful to her current situation.

“Is this what you’re looking for, lady?”

Mandy glanced up, startled by the deep, rumbling baritone that echoed loudly in the fairly quiet building. And even more startled by the tall, gorgeous hunk of manhood bundled into a down parka standing next to her table.

I could totally jump him. Right here. Right now.

From nowhere, steamy erotic images of what she wanted to do with the man leaped unbidden into her head. She’d never felt such instant attraction to anyone, such a frantic desire. Maybe it was a reaction to her frightening experience on the Thruway. Or maybe something else created the overpowering chemistry.

Besides being the most handsome man she’d ever laid eyes on, he held out a battery-operated pocket charger. A sigh escaped her as he stared down at her.

“It’s not the only thing I’m looking for.” Her voice, husky and sultry, and laden with blatant sexual innuendo, shocked her. Where had those words come from? Nearly alone with him in the deserted rest stop…and still she felt…safe.

“Yeah?” The man removed his parka, revealing a plaid flannel shirt, the triangle of a white, cold-weather T-shirt peeping from the open neckline. When he raised his arms, thick bands of muscle rippled across his chest, beneath the layers of fabric. He riveted her with brilliant azure eyes, bluer than a lake under the summer’s sun. His hair, which curled a bit boyishly at his temples, resembled a wet beach, light, dirty brown, with shimmering bronze threads straggling through the locks. But this was no boy. No, indeed.

God. Gorgeous did not even begin to cover it. The longer he looked at her, the hotter she became. So hot she suddenly felt she’d do anything, dare anything with this man.

My Review:

The following review is my opinion and not a paid review. I was given a free copy of the book from the author for my honest opinion.

Mandy left a convention early on account of all the males kept hitting on her. She wants to get home to her family. She misses and wants to be home with her husband and children. On her way home she runs into a blizzard and knows that she is going not going to make it home tonight. She spots a rest stop and pulls into what she hopes is the parking lot.

The rest stop is almost deserted, except for a man sitting at the opposite end of the bar from where she is sitting. Mandy cannot help staring at this guy he is so good looking and so very hot. All she wants to do is get him in bed with her. She surprises herself when he comes over and introduces himself as Jack. She tells him what she wants to do to him. She has never acted like this before and wonders what is wrong with her.

Of course Jack being a man is not going to turn her down. But he does ask her about her husband after he sees her wedding band. Mandy is like well with both of their jobs and her having a baby eight weeks ago they have not had much time together. Jack and Mandy end up in his car taking care of business. Jack and Mandy's time together is about the best that each has ever had. Jack and Mandy had his windows all steamed up. The snow storm going on outside couldn't touch them on fogging up the windows.

I couldn't figure out Mandy cheating on her husband when she left the convention early because of the married guys hitting on her. Why would she leave early and then end up cheating on husband somewhere else? Well I guess the guys at the convention just didn't turn her on like the guy at the rest stop. But the way she described him he was the hottest thing since Adonis. I loved the ending after reading it I was like what no way and I had to go back and read it again to see if I had read what I thought I had read. Oh yeah I had read what I thought. It was the most amazing endings ever. Blizzard may be a short story but it is one fantastic book. It is one book you don't want to miss out on.

Gemini of Emreiana Cover photo Geminicover.jpg Title: Gemini of Emreiana
Series: Gemini Series Book #1
Author: Kristen DaRay
Genre: YA Sci-Fi/Fantasy

Blurb:

My entire life has been a lie: My parents didn't die in a car accident. They're not even dead. I'm not American. I'm not even human. I have strange powers, and I'm the heir to the throne of the planet Emreiana.

If I take the crown, I have to leave behind everything I have known here on Earth. I would have to say goodbye to my friends and leave behind Kyle, the boy I've loved since I was five. If I don't, then I risk the Bremoir finding me here on Earth and destroying everything I love.

You can fine Gemini of Emreiana:

Goodreads | Amazon-Paperback | Amazon-Kindle | Barnes & Noble | Kobo

Excerpt:

"Look, this isn't very funny if you think it is a joke." I turned around to leave. I wanted to believe that my aunt had cracked and this guy was just insane, but the fact that he was in my dream confused and frightened me. Everything they were telling me could not be true. That would just be crazy.

I had not even made it out of the kitchen when something itchy grabbed my wrist. I looked down to find what looked like a vine. Then I followed the rest of it to find that it actually was a vine! The vine had come through the window above the sink and somehow grabbed my arm!

"Please dear, let me explain." Aunt Trish pleaded with me. Her arms were reached out and swaying to the rhythm of the attacking vines. That was when I realized she was controlling the vine.

Author Interview:

The Avid Reader What inspired you to write Gemini of Emreiana?

Kristen DaRay Behind this book in particular would be events in my life. I kind of just wanted to get away, so at first it was about a girl who wanted to get away and finally had the chance to get out of the solar system. BUT Carson has a mind and life of her own so once it was finally out, it was the opposite. She had a life and she didn't want to give it up. Isn't that funny?

The Avid Reader When or at what age did you know you wanted to be a writer?

Kristen DaRay When I was in the 6th grade, after I won a writing contest, I had tried writing my first books, really they were journals on my life, and I kept deleting them. But, it was when I was 15 that I realized my passion for writing genre fiction (Paranormal, Sci-Fi, and Fantasy). It was then that I knew that I wanted to be a writer. I had told everyone in my family that I wanted to be a writer and showed some the first chapter of the Love for Blood, a vampire story that I had no heart to finish. While my family supported my dreams they told me to keep in mind when searching for a college that my writing would be a side job. I guess I couldn't argue with that with todays economy. At first I was going to go to school online and be an airline attendant. I would study strait english to improve my writing. However, my plans for that did not go through for multiple reasons. Then I decided to go to UNA. I registered as an Education Major. While I love the idea of teaching and thought it was something I could do, I realized after helping with the church children's music that I wasn't ready for it yet and perhaps later in my life I could get a Masters and teach college. So from there I changed my major to strait English Professional Writing. That is when I truly made a decision to be a writer.I should note that I minored in Theatre. While I love writing my books, I also would enjoy writing a script for people to enjoy and watch. I'm just waiting for that big story to come to my mind.

The Avid Reader What is the earliest age you remember reading your first book?

Kristen DaRay Oh wow! I have been reading ever since I could remember. I remember always going to the library in the morning before school and picking out a book to read. The earliest I remember is around the second grade, but I have a feeling it was even earlier than that. I know I read Goosebumps and some mystery romance during that time.

The Avid Reader What genre of books do you enjoy reading?

Kristen DaRay Just about everything except for non-fiction unless it is something of high interest to me. I really like fantasy and science fiction right now. Sometimes I like to read time travel romances or historical romance. Sometimes I like just strait fiction. Really it depends on the mood I am in and if the story line captures my interest at that moment. Right now I have been fixated with love-hate relationship stories. :

The Avid Reader What is your favorite book?

Kristen DaRay I have so many! You can't make me choose! This has probably been over done, but I would say the Harry Potter series. I started reading them around the same age that the story was being told so it really captured the magic for me during that time. I still have not forgotten how much I enjoyed it! Me and my sister used to run around with a stick from the back yard casting spells from the book. Ah, those were the days!

The Avid Reader You know I think we all have a favorite author. Who is your favorite author and why?

Kristen DaRay I wish I could say Rowling, but the truth is I didn't care too much for the casual vacancy so I'm not always jumping to her books at the moment. One author I seem to always enjoy would be Jennifer Armentrout. I always love her characters!

The Avid Reader If you could travel back in time here on earth to any place or time. Where would you go and why?

Kristen DaRay I would go back in time to when I was a child. I would tell myself about my talent and have myself start to utilize it at a younger age and learn more about the craft. I always get the feeling I started too late, and because of that my writing and passion has suffered a little.

The Avid Reader When writing a book do you find that writing comes easy for you or is it a difficult task?

Kristen DaRay Once I actually sit down and write it seems to flow. It's the editing later that is a pain in the arse.

The Avid Reader Do you have any little fuzzy friends? Like a dog or a cat? Or any pets?

Kristen DaRay My little Gemini! Yes like my book LOL. She is my little critter who loves to purr, eat and sleep.

The Avid Reader What is your "to die for", favorite food/foods to eat?

Kristen DaRay Um cheesecake. I love cheesecake. So does my husband, so this works well when we share a dessert :

The Avid Reader Do you have any advice for anyone that would like to be an author?

Kristen DaRay Write, write and write. When you're not writing, read. Always learn more about your writing and what you can do to improve it. I'm always learning more and more because I write and read.
