I love sex. I used to be a professional Dominatrix by day and a recreational Dom by night. Now I co-own a sex shop by day. I still do the Dom thing by night, when I can.

So, yeah, I love sex. But I'm not a sub. That's never been me. I like to maintain control in the bedroom. That gets me off.

But when the guy I've been chatting up online as a potential roommate shows up at my condo dripping sex and temptation… let's just say I might be open to trying new things… for him.

If his playboy ways don’t drive me insane. And if I can do the one thing I've never done for anyone. Surrender.

What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas. But when you live here full time… that's not much comfort, is it?

This isn’t your typical story about boy meets girl, they fall in love and live happily ever after.  No.  This is a story about deception and betrayal at its finest. This is a story about hatred and attraction, which does everything in its power to destroy two people.

Essie Horton is a woman who has lived through unspeakable things during her short life, and when a prime opportunity presents itself, she dives right in, only concerned about herself and her objectives.

Drayden Warner is a man used to living the good life, bedding every beauty in sight, masking an empty existence, and hiding from a tragedy which happened years ago.  Little does he know, his life will change forever when he meets the one woman who will possibly destroy him for good.

My Writing Process

When I sit down to write a story I don’t have any specific rituals or rules I follow. I don’t outline my entire book before I start either. I delve right into the story as soon as my fingers touch the keyboard. I will jot down questions or thoughts I have for future scenes but there is no specific pattern to it. There are many times the characters will guide the scenes themselves so I have no other choice than to just go along for the ride.

I’ve often been woken up in the early morning hours with a thought or sentence running through my mind, over and over again. It won’t stop until I get out of bed and write it down, most times turning into multiple chapters. A couple months ago, I had one single sentence on repeat, which ended up being the whole premise for my second book Redemption, which will be coming out on Feb 25th.

I often use whatever I have at my disposal to make sure that every thought is written down, whether that’s my actual laptop or my phone or a sticky note. I’m constantly bombarded with quotes or ideas all day long. The key is to capture them before I forget. I would hate to miss out on a classic line from one of my characters because I was too tired to write it down.

Once I’ve written the complete rough draft I will go back over it, switching and changing things that need to be adjusted. Then, when I’m satisfied with the draft, I’ll send it to my editor. When all adjustments have been made, I’ll go back over it again, making any other adjustments I feel are necessary. Then the very last step I take is to have my computer read the entire story back to me. This is not my favorite part but I feel it’s necessary. I’ve actually caught a few words which needed to be corrected as well as a few clunky sentences which didn’t quite flow right.

After I’m completely satisfied with the end result, only then will I hit the publish button. Even though I’m always anxious to get it out there to the world, I won’t publish anything I don’t believe is my absolute best.

So, there is my writing process in a nutshell. I know what I do doesn’t work for everyone, but it works for me and I couldn’t be happier.

S. Nelson grew up with a love of reading and a very active imagination, never putting pen to paper, or fingers to keyboard until a year and a half ago.

When she isn’t engrossed in creating one of the many stories rattling around inside her head, she loves to read and travel as much as she can.

She lives in Pennsylvania with her husband and two dogs, enjoying the ever changing seasons.

Book Blitz: Gathering Frost (Once Upon A Curse #1) by Kaitlyn Davis @DavisKaitlyn @NereydaG1003 #YABOUNDBOOKTOURS #Giveaway

Gathering Frost
(Once Upon A Curse #1)
Release Date: 02/17/15

Summary from Goodreads:
Will his kiss be enough to revive her frozen heart?

Once Upon A Time meets La Femme Nikita in GATHERING FROST, a dystopian romance from bestselling author Kaitlyn Davis that reimagines the classic fairy tale of Sleeping Beauty.

Jade was only a little girl when the earthquake struck. Before her eyes, half of New York City disappeared, replaced by a village that seemed torn out of a storybook. Horses and carriages. Cobblestone streets. A towering castle. And, above all, a queen with the magical ability to strip emotions away.

Ten years later and Jade has forgotten what it is to feel, to care...even to love. Working as a member of the queen's guard, she spends most of her time on the city wall staring at the crumbling skyscrapers of old New York. But everything changes when the queen's runaway son, Prince Asher, returns. Jade is tasked with an unusual mission--to let the Prince capture her, to make him trust her, and then to betray his secrets to the crown. In return, she'll earn her freedom. But life outside the queen's realm is more than Jade bargained for. Under Asher's relentless taunts, her blood begins to boil. Under his piercing gaze, her heart begins to flutter. And the more her icy soul begins to thaw, the more Jade comes to question everything she's ever known--and, more importantly, whose side she's really on.

Excerpt:

The world ended on a Saturday in spring. Beautiful. Sunny. The sort of afternoon that pulled New Yorkers from their hibernation, urging them to shed their floor-length coats and stiletto boots, to let the sun kiss their pale skin once more.

When the earthquake began, my mother and I were in Central Park. "Pedal!" I remember her shouting. "Pedal!" And I did. My little legs pumped in circles, my heart lifted as I felt her fingers release the bike, and suddenly I was riding on my own. For the first time. The breeze whipped against my grinning cheeks, stinging my eyes.

But then the ground shook. The earth began to tremble. And I had no hope. In a flash, I was on the ground, sandwiched against the concrete as screams rose around me. Darkness stole my vision as my mother's arms encircled me, hugged me closer. Teeth chattering, I tried to be strong. But tears leaked from my eyes, the cries of a baby. Shame burned my chest.

Time passed but my young mind had lost count. Minutes. Hours. I still don't really know. But when the ground stilled, I woke to a new world.

My mother was frozen with shock, so I had to pull against her hold, straining to see. Over her shoulder, south, I saw smoke and ash rising like clouds over my skyline. The trees looked gray, the sky washed out. Faint outlines of buildings were only just visible through the fog, a mix of skyscrapers still standing or leveled to the ground.

I looked at my mother. Her arms had fallen mutely to her side. I'll never forget her green eyes, pulled so taut I swore they were about to snap. Her lips were just slightly open.

"Mommy?"

But she didn’t hear. Something behind me had her so transfixed that even her only child, her little girl, could not shake the alarm.

So I turned.

New York was gone.

Like a line driven through the ground, we stood on one side with the past while our future rested a few feet away. A future that was backward in time.

Atop a hill, a giant castle rose from the ground, surrounded by green lawns where apartments used to stand. At its base were stone houses, smoking from fires. Horses. Carriages. Carts. And people. People dressed in dull brown clothes looked at us just as we looked at them—confused and terrified.

And then she appeared.

Her gown sparkled in the sun, brilliant red popping against a dull backdrop, cinching in at the waist and then expanding into a magnificent skirt billowing in the breeze. Silky white gloves encased her hands. Jewels dripped around her thin neck. Pins held her hair so that it curled elegantly down her back, and resting right above her forehead was a golden crown.

My eyes went straight to her.

A princess. I knew she would save us. I had seen it before, so many times, so many princesses saving the day.

I ran to her, crossing the threshold without hesitation as my mother screamed at me to come back. My mom was an adult. And adults didn’t believe in these things. I knew she would see my side if I could just get the princess to help us.

She knelt as I approached. A wide inviting smile spread across her face. Her arms caught me.

"What is your name child?" Her voice was warm. It soothed me, relaxed me, filled me with hope.

"Jade."

She brushed my bangs from my forehead, kissed it softly.

"Would you like me to help you? To make all of your fears go away?"

"Yes!" I wanted to run to my mom, to show her she didn’t need to be afraid. The princess would help us. But I couldn't. Something stopped me.

A hand pressed against my chest, pricked my skin.

I looked up at the princess, struggling to break free of her hold, when a freeze snatched my heart, so cold that it burned. I tried to speak, but I was frozen. My limbs grew heavy, my lips felt fat, my vision started to spot.

"Don't worry, little Jade. I'm just putting you to sleep for a little while. You'll wake up soon."

I did. In a cell with other frightened girls. But I never felt the same. Icy. That's what some of us started calling it, this feeling like our hearts won't thaw. Even a fire doesn't warm me. I am hard. Frigid. Emotionless. Sometimes I think I must still be caught in a long dream.

But time has only made me tougher.

Now I know the princess by another name, Queen Deirdre, the Ice Queen.

And I wish I could say I was the hero of the story. A resister. A rebel. Someone who lived to bring an end to the queen who stole my childhood—my mother, my life, my very world.

But I'm not.

I'm not the good guy.

I'm the one who puts the good guys in their graves.

About the Author
I've always been a writer. I grew up duct taping my novels together, started writing complete manuscripts in high school and studied creative writing at Johns Hopkins University. Upon graduating, I decided it was finally time to actually give my dream career a chance. So, of course, I started writing a young adult paranormal romance series -- and no, I'm not jumping on the bandwagon. I've been a true paranormal supporter for my entire life! I blame my obsession almost completely on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, my all-time favorite television show. And, before you ask: Yes, I own every season... even the post WB ones! I especially challenge anyone to watch the first three seasons and not fall in love with Angel, securing a lifelong love of vampires! Other culprits of my paranormal obsession are some of my favorite authors: JK Rowling, Raymond Feist, Meg Cabot, Richelle Mead, Lynne Ewing and Tamora Pierce.

Excerpt:

I was the saddest girl to ever hold a martini. A walking Sex and the City episode. Minus the sex.

I wished Renee was here. If she wasn't home for a funeral, I would've called her for a long distance cheer-up, but it wasn't the most appropriate time. So instead, I resorted to sitting barefoot on the living room floor, still wearing Renee's gold dress, crying into a martini glass.

Pathetic, really.

I'm not sure what set it off, because I shouldn't have been this upset. It wasn't like I'd invested much time or energy into my relationship with Vincent. I think this was just the last straw. The end result of the bad date build-up. I finally thought I'd found someone who was different, and he turned out to be worse than all of them.

At first, it was quite comical. I chuckled to myself in the cab, wondering how long he'd wait at the table, how stupid he'd feel when our waitress realized he'd been ditched. I skipped into my kitchen, made myself a dirty martini, then sat down on my living room floor and drank.

And somewhere around the second martini, the humor faded.

First, I thought about my parents, and the dreaded question that presented itself every time they called. "So, are you seeing anyone special?" It was the first thing they always asked. Well, technically the third, aside from the traditional "How are you?" and "How's L.A.?" But the first two were just a buffer to get to the third question, the one they really wanted to ask.

Even worse was their discouraged "oh" after I told them no. I could hear the disappointment echoing from three thousand miles away. And forget about family parties. My mom would attempt to cover up my patheticness by telling my nosy relatives that I was "kissing a lot of frogs" when they asked about my dating life.

You can only kiss so many frogs before your parents start to think you're a lesbian.

The sound at the door made me spill the remains of my drink onto the floor. I knew Vincent had my address, but I didn't actually think he'd show up here. I was quiet for a minute, hoping he'd go away, but then I watched in horror as the knob turned and the door swung open.

I could have sworn I had locked it behind me when I came in. No, I definitely had. But then how…

"Justine?"

I looked up and locked eyes with David. David in all his six-foot-tall gorgeousness, standing above me with a look of bewilderment on his face.

I could only imagine what I looked like.

Author Interview

Do you have any plans to write a spin-off for Aberrant?

Yes! I am currently working on an untitled project that is a prequel, spin-off. I haven't spoken much about it, but I will say there is plenty of action and a world to explore that we've barely touched in the Aberrant trilogy.

What are you currently working on?

I've got several writing projects underway. Forget Me Knot (Royal Reaper 2) is in edits right now with an expected Spring 2015 release. I'm also writing steamy adult fiction under the name Ravyn Rayne, which will be available this year as well. You can find those projects on Ravyn Rayne Reads.

Do you have a full-time job?

Writing and marketing my own novels is my full-time job. It involves far more than 40 hours a week, but I love it, so I don't mind.

About the Author-

I was always the girl who spent most of her life living in her head, even at an early age. My made up worlds were so much more interesting than real life. In them, anything was possible. I could be a reckless archaeologist digging up a mummy who came to life, terrorize a medieval village by drinking all their blood, start an intergalactic war between rival planets, or ride a wild stallion with a hunky Native brave clad only in a breech cloth, all within the course of a weekend.

Life didn't stay simple. I had to grow up, get a job, became a wife and mother and put all my dreams on hold. After a change in my life, I found myself a single mom who had plenty of time to fall back into the land of make believe.

One night I opened up my computer and soon several novels were penned. Now I have embarked on a journey to become the person I always envisioned myself to be, an author, sharing my crazy ideas with the world.
