Penny's nightmare is ruling her life and she doesn't know why. It started a few months ago, and since then Red Bulls, 5-hour Energy Shots, and Starbucks drive-thru are her lifeline.

When Penny's parents decide to take their research of a rare Native American cult to a remote cabin for the summer, she's less than enthused.

Then Penny meets Delsin in a clearing in the woods, and her view of the world awakens. Apathy defines her, but Delsin lives life to it's fullest. A shaman-in-training, he is everything Penny is not.

Each morning she comes to the woods, handing pieces of her heart to him, but when Penny is confronted with her worst nightmare, Delsin asks for a sacrifice Penny didn't see coming.

Excerpt:

I followed him past the sweat lodge, which smelled like leather and freshly dug earth, with a large fire pit about twenty feet from the entrance. Delsin told me to not walk across it, but rather around the pit, and I obliged. Obviously. I wasn't interested in ruining his ancient customs or anything.

I followed him as we wove through some trees and down a small hill. I could hear the water before I saw it, and Delsin kept looking back at me, each glance reassuring me.

When we got to the edge of the water, I realized it was a lot more than a creek.

"This is like, way cooler than a stream. This is gorgeous," I said to him, standing by his side. His arms were crossed and he looked at me again, not looking at the scene before us.

There was a creek, but it was fifteen feet wide and flowed to a drop, where a waterfall cascaded over the rocky edge, falling into a large pool of crystal clear water. It narrowed into a creek again past the pool, falling behind the trees, leading away form this small oasis. Standing at the top looking over, I saw how remote our location was. Trees were everywhere, yet here we were nestled into a secret place.

"Do you come here a lot?" I asked.

"Yeah. After a sweat I come to this water, to jump in and cool off."

"You jump off the water fall?" I ask, looking at the twenty-foot jump.

"I do."

We stood there silently. It felt like a moment I should remember. Like the precipice to something that I didn't understand. My stomach full of expectation, for what I didn't know, but it filled me up. I was whole.

I didn't want to ruin the moment by talking. I was scared if I spoke I would lose something.

Myself or Delsin or Ollie or everything.

"Are you crying?" Delsin asked.

I brushed away the tears on my face, not even knowing why they were there.

"Did I say something, or do something?" he asked, confused.

"No, no. Of course not," I assured him. "I don't know why I'm crying."

"You are a very serious girl?"

"Not serious. Sorry. I haven't felt like myself lately. Sorry."

"Don't say sorry for your tears."

"I feel stupid, crying in front of a guy I just met. You probably think I'm a hot mess."

"Tears are the way you let go of something. Like the sweat lodge. It's a release."

I laughed. Out of nervousness. I stood there feeling stupid. Vulnerable like and I didn't know why. Delsin wasn't like Ollie. Ollie knew me before I became a disaster, but Delsin was meeting me now as a girl crying over a waterfall. I didn't want him to judge me.

"We should jump," he said.

"Are you crazy? No way."

"Yes. Take my hand. Jump with me. After the sweat, you have to jump and you just cried, so it's close enough."

"I don't do things like this."

"Like what?" he asked, pulling off his T-shirt, revealing a six-pack and smooth skin and perfection.

"Um." I was caught off guard by his chest. "I don't do things like jump off cliffs."

"You mean you don't do things like living?" he asked, raising his eyebrows and tossing his flip-flops to the side.

He stretched out his hand and I wanted to take it. So badly.

So I did.

I kicked off my shoes and threw my sunglasses on top of the hoodie that I let drop to the ground. I shimmied out of my cut-offs and kept on my tank top and I took his hand.

And we jumped.

Book Release Blast: Tears of Crimson By Michelle Hughes @MichelleHughes_ @GHBTours

Tears of Crimson
By- Michelle Hughes
Genre- Paranormal Romance

Tears of Crimson, the New Orleans Vampire Bar.

I was only fifteen the first time he found me.  I say he found me because I hadn't been looking for him... yet there he was when I closed my eyes. When my mother was declared insane, the only person I had left in the world was Granny Louise.  Even though she was good to me, I was a target for bullies, ones that were convinced that the apple never fell far from the tree.  I was tired of my life, tired of a world that fostered such heartache and pain.

Rafe changed things.

He salvaged what was left of my will to live.  Those six years became my lifeline.  He opened my eyes to passion, shared a world with me that was so vivid that I could still hear his words in my ears, and the ghost of his touch on my skin when I woke up.

Now that my world has seemingly fallen apart, the only place I can think of going is where my dreams took place- New Orleans.  Rafe and I have walked those streets in my fantasies.  Somehow, I feel like that's where I can find my salvation, my purpose.

What frightens me is, now that I've stepped in Tears of Crimson, a part of me is starting to believe that some dreams are meant to be lived.

When Robbi  Bennett, special education teacher extraordinaire, decided to move from New York to California, it was for reasons beyond trading snowstorms for sunshine and surfing. Following the tragic death of her parents, and several doomed relationships, she craved a fresh start; an opportunity to reinvent herself.

Tyler D'Angelo, bad-boy biker and self-proclaimed man-whore, equates love with weakness. For decades, he has kept his heart on lockdown, but meeting Robbi turns his solitary life inside out as they are inexplicably drawn to each other. Can love be strong enough to overcome a lifetime of fear?

(This story features two hearing impaired characters. The story also involves information related to deafness, deaf education, and American Sign Language.)

"We can go as slowly as you want; take our time and get to know each other first, as friends. What do you think, Tyler?" His cobalt eyes searched her face. "Friends with benefits?" His sexy smirk was accompanied by a playful wink. Shaking her head vehemently, Robbi sighed. "No, Tyler. I won't do that; no one-night stands either."

He whispered softly. "I know, Robbi. I don't want that with you, either. Okay, we'll take it slow, but what if I request one benefit, just a tiny one?" His sapphire eyes were sparkling as his thumb caressed her glistening, pink bottom lip. "If I don't have access to your beautiful mouth, if I can't kiss you - I. Will. Not. Survive."

Teri McGill grew up in Queens, New York and moved to warm and sunny Los Angeles in 1994, immediately following the Northridge earthquake. She taught Mathematics to deaf high school students for thirty years, which explains some of the recurring themes in her stories. When she is not at the computer, either writing or beta reading/proofreading, she enjoys working out, golf, mosaics, Math tutoring, and watching sports.

Review of Seduced by Lies (The Seduced Saga , #4) by Karpov Kinrade @KarpovKinrade @badassmktg

Seduced by Lies by Karpov Kinrade

Kindle Edition, 196 pages

Published July 26th, 2013 by Daring Books Publishing

Blurb:

Rose and Derek have settled into married life and are enjoying their new jobs living with and teaching paranormal kids at the mansion with Father Patrick and their new friends.

Everything seems idyllic, until paranormal teens start showing up dead in the local news, killed by what looks like a wolf attack.

As Rose, Derek and their friends seek out the truth of these mysterious killings, a Bishop sent by the Pope arrives to undo everything they've worked so hard to build.

My Review:

I received a free copy of the book from the author for my honest opinion.

Rose and Derek are back and just as in love with each other as they have ever been if not more. Their love for one another has grown so much that they can’t stand to be apart. If they could they would be together all the time. But of course that is not possible with the new school that they are running with the help of some of my favorite characters from the Forbidden Trilogy, Drake and Sam. Rose, Derek, Drake and Sam are all teaching kids that have paranormal powers. They are teaching them how to control them and how to use them.

This new school of theirs is a lot different than the one that Sam lived and grew up in. All of the kids at this school are all there because they want to be. They are not against their will like Sam and her friends Lucy and Luke. The new school would not be possible without the help of Father Patrick the priest who owns the propriety the school is on.  Drake and Sam have a beautiful little girl Ana whom they both love very much.

Everybody is so happy with their lives and the school until they find out that someone is killing kids with special powers. They all work so hard in trying to find out who is killing the kids with paranormal powers. They find evidence that shows that it is a wolf that is attacking the kids and killing them or that is what it looks like but what they are seeing may not be exactly what they think it is. But never fear the church is sending in help. They send a pope to help them investigate and find the killer.

I have read a lot of books written by this husband and wife duo and not a one of them has disappointed me. I have loved each and every one of them. I love all the characters in The Seduced Saga and TheForbidden Trilogy and was so thrilled to see Derek, Rose, Drake and Sam all together in Seduced byLies. I was also glad that the twins Lucy and Luke make an appearance too.

If you love reading paranormal or about people with special powers then I know you will love TheSeduced Saga and TheForbidden Trilogy as well. But I do recommend that you start with the first book in each series so that will you know what is going on and why they have all ended up where they are today and together. The authors do a fantastic job of explaining who the characters are and giving you their background stories from the other books at the beginning. You will get know and understand Derek and Rose better if you read Seducedby Innocence book #1, Seducedby Pain book #2 and Seducedby Power book #3 before reading Seduced by Lies book #4. The same goes for Sam and Drake if you read their stories in Forbidden Mind book #1, Forbidden Fire book #2 and ForbiddenLife book #3.

When reclusive cyborg Alistair Mechanus meets his captive, ER doctor Julia Parker, it is love at first sight--for him. While he eagerly drops his plans for World Conquest to woo her, ten years of solitude have left his social skills badly rusted. When his misguided act of kindness spirals out of control, however, Julia is forced to trust the mad genius with her life, and she discovers the vulnerable side under his armored plating. She has the skills he needs to unlock his forgotten past, but learning who he used to be may come at the cost of his remaining sanity.

Enjoy an excerpt:

Julia stopped in the doorway, pulling her hand out of Mechanus'. He turned to see what the matter was, and saw that she was looking past him, openmouthed, at the collection of plants on display. Mechanus followed her gaze in momentary confusion; he'd seen the flowers a thousand times before, and could easily look up the scientific name of every single specimen here and in the other two dozen greenhouses he had. He had detailed files about each specimen, after all.

It occurred to him that he ought to say something.

"This is..." he began. No. Not quite right. He cleared his throat. "Welcome to Greenhouse Fourteen." There. Much better.

"I'm just... surprised you have something like this here," Julia said. "I mean, everything else has been so..." She fell silent.

"So...?" Mechanus prompted.

"Industrialized."

"Well, food has to come from somewhere," he pointed out. You can only do so much by replicating proteins and complex sugars, and my chimeras don't seem to like the nutrient slurries at all. I grow fruits and vegetables in greenhouses like this one, as well as grains and medicinal plants that I've gathered from all over the world." He took her hand and led her on into the greenhouse. "For example, did you know that there are over 200 species of plant that have the potential to cure cancer?"

"I was talking about the flowers, but cancer cures are impressive, too."

Idiot. Of course the flowers. Women liked flowers. "If you enjoy them," he said, recovering with what he deemed sufficient grace, "I could give you one of my greenhouses. They're self-maintaining, each with their own crew of maintenance drones who will ensure that they will remain healthy and green for the foreseeable future."

Excerpt:

Stick pulled out of the parking lot and headed toward the center of town where most of the restaurants and fast food places were.

"I saw you scoping out Stephanie during the history final," he said while they waited on a traffic light. "Man, you’re way out of bounds with her."

"I know," Jace answered. "But who says I can’t dream?"

"I wouldn’t even risk doing that, Slo-Mo. If that gorilla boyfriend of hers ever gets wind of what’s on your mind, your dream could become a nightmare real quick."

"Who’s going to tell him — you?"

"Are you kidding? He’s no friend of mine, although he might make a good pet if you could find a big enough cage."

The light turned green, and Stick shot through the intersection.

Jace shook his head and frowned. "I just want a chance with her. Just one chance. Maybe something could happen between us. If she’s not interested, okay. That wouldn’t kill me.

What’s killing me is that I don’t know and never will as long as –"

"Carson's in the way?"

"Exactly."

Stick took a hand off the steering wheel and rubbed his chin as if he were a wise old man with a long beard. "King Kong is a problem," he admitted. "No doubt about that." Then a mischievous grin took shape. "But maybe not as much as you think."

"What do you mean?" Jace's voice betrayed both hope and anxiety.

At that moment, Stick pulled into Burger World and stopped in front of the menu board. A large globe with a painted-on face and a chef’s hat asked for their order.

Stick glanced at Jace. "Want anything?"

"No thanks. I’m not that hungry. Now what did you mean –"

"Well, I am. Give me a Global Burger with everything, medium fries, and large vanilla shake."

"That will be four twenty-five," the talking globe said in its buzz saw-like voice. "Please pull up to the window." While they waited for Stick’s food, Jace again asked, "What did you mean when you said Carson may not be that much of a problem?"

Stick leaned back and put his hands behind his head. "I found out Carson might not be spending much time around Ridgeview this summer," he said.

"Why not?"

"He’s got himself a job at a lumber yard up in Michigan. Plus, he’s going to be visiting some colleges that want him to play football for them."

"How long will he be gone?"

"I don’t know. But Michigan is pretty far from central Ohio, so if he’s going way up there, he’ll probably stay awhile. A few weeks anyway, wouldn’t you think?"

"Yeah, makes sense."

"Long enough for a clever rival to make his move."

Excerpt:

Coffee beans churned in the automatic grinder, my nerves not far behind. "I'll have a small-actually, make that a large chai tea." It had the potential of being a very long night.

The barista twisted from the back to the front counter and set my drink next to the register before I unburied my wallet from my cluttered purse. "That'll be $3.79, dear."

Someone set a five-dollar bill in front of me. "May I?"

Slowly, I lifted my head toward a voice I didn't recognize to find the eyes I knew by heart. I couldn't answer him. Not with that half smile tying my vocal chords in knots.

Riley propped an elbow on the counter. "I'll take that as a yes."

Blink. Say something. What in the world was Riley Preston doing paying for my drink?

"It's rare you see a non-coffee drinking college student." His voice was rich and dangerously mesmerizing. "That's impressive."

Words, Em. You can do it. "I . . . I never really cared much for the taste of coffee. Tea has less caffeine, but it still helps. I'm a tea kind of girl." Really? I'm a tea kind of girl? I buried my chin in my shoulder and reached for my earring to block his view of my now-burning cheeks.

Riley circled around, flashed a soft, playful grin that made me feel faint, and handed me my cup. "Well, 'I'm a tea kind of girl,' I hope you enjoy the night."

Thank god the stage was on the opposite side of the room. Away from the ridiculous smile I couldn't coax my jaw into releasing. Apparently, I wasn't the only one wondering if that really just happened. Jaycee blinked from the table as though transmitting her question through Morse code. I slipped into my seat. With any luck, maybe no one else had noticed.

A. J. rocked his half-emptied mug on the table. "Maybe Rico Suave will let you have a turn on the stage after all." His arm grazed mine as slightly as his tone grazed jealousy.

Trevor tilted his chair back. "What do you say, Em? Up for a little guitar showdown?"

A. J. pried my whitened fingers off my mug handle, rested my hand in his palm, and met my gaze. "I bet this guy isn't half as good a player as Emma is."

"Think we're about to find out." Trevor dipped his head toward the stage in the corner.

The shop owner jumped onto the platform. "You guys ready for another local artist to bring down the house? Give it up for Mr. Riley Preston." The packed café lit up in sound.

Riley adjusted the microphone in the stand. "Thanks, guys. I don't usually perform in public arenas. So, if I run off the stage in a panic, don't worry. It was all planned." The crowd laughed on cue. Riley rubbed the overgrown stubble along his cheekbone. "No, seriously, I write my own music and don't often get the chance to share it. So, I hope you enjoy it."

In worn jeans, navy blue flip-flops, and a solid tan, long-sleeved T-shirt, he could've been any other college student in the room. Yet even though he'd just announced he rarely performed in public, it was clear he was made to be on stage.

From the first chord, his acoustic guitar's melancholy tenor set off a level of emotion that mended places I hadn't realized ached until that moment.
