When a powerful witch has an idea that will get her back to her home world known as,Wanderamid, it backfires.

The spell she created the night before had already begun. The clouds in the sky became thicker and darkness increased greatly with silent flickering lights of lightning. It was too late to put a stop to it, and no one could change it, not even her.

EXCERPT

Ms. Winterton gasped when the officers pointed their firearms, straight at them. Her mouth froze open, surprised by their reaction.
"No," Officer Morley began to explain calmly, "She is not a witch. Please put the guns down. We just want to show you, what you've been asking us."
"That book just grew, Morley! We saw it! Only a witch could do that!" Officer Wysor shouted, pointing his gun away from them and onto the grimoire.
Officer Oxnard remained speechless and wide-eyed.
"She's trying to find her daughter, just like Ms. Kennings is trying to find her son. Now if you want to see what is going on, you can't get excited like this or we won't be able to show you. Do you understand that?" He tried to convince them as firmly and calmly as possible.
Officer Oxnard nodded, signaling him to lower his gun as he did, still keeping it in hand. They were not fully convinced to put them away completely.
"Look at their eyes!" Ms. Kennings shouted, pointing at the three felines that came out from the corner, with glowing green eyes.
She startled the officers and they quickly aimed their guns at the felines.
Officer Morley rolled his eyes. "Will you sit down? They're only cats!"
"I never saw cats with eyes like those," she responded stiffly.
"They're not normal… I mean… they're normal, but… well… I don't know what I mean. All I know is that they won't harm you. Please, sit so we can get on with this," he tiredly shook his head.
The officers and Ms. Kennings sat down slowly while they kept a close watch on the felines. Ms. Winterton took a deep breath as she thought about where to begin her story, and how to make it believable as possible, as her eyes made contact with those she had to convince.
"Ms. Kennings," she spoke softly, "… Rena and Jodon are together, in another world."
"They killed them!" Her eyes widened with fear. "They killed…."
"No! No!" Officer Morley immediately stood.
The other officers stood right after and aimed their guns at them, again.
"What are you doing?"
"You heard her! You both killed them!" Officer Wysor yelled. "I'm placing you both under arrest! Anything…."
"Stop, Wysor!" he demanded and then calmly added, "We didn't kill them. They're alive."
"What?" Ms. Kennings asked stunned. "Then where are they?"
"Ms. Winterton told you. They're in another world."
"They did kill them! Bring me to my son!"

Excerpt:

She sensed his presence behind her before she felt his hands on her waist.

"I've been trying to be good, but you're so sexy. I can't resist you, babygirl."

A wave of desire thrilled through her as his hands skimmed over her belly and he started unbuttoning her jean shorts. Her knees almost buckled and she held onto his forearms for support.

"But…" was the only protest she could muster.

"But I think you have on too many clothes," he said slipping her shorts down to her ankles.

Feeling dizzy she turned to steady herself and found herself in his arms. When she lifted her face to his, he claimed her mouth, hungrily sliding his tongue between her lips. The electricity between them ramped up a notch, and for a moment she allowed herself the pleasure of letting go and relishing what it felt like to be in his arms.

He stepped back and lifted her t-shirt over her head.

It made her uncomfortable to be half-naked in front of him and she instinctively covered her breasts with her hands. Carmen believed most men preferred a thinner woman, and she was self-conscious about her voluptuous figure. She weighed at least thirty pounds more than the models on the magazine covers she saw every week at the grocery store check-out line.

"What are you doing? Stop. I want to see you." He pulled her hands away, firmly placing them at her sides.

She felt the warmth rising in her cheeks. "I'm embarrassed."

He smiled and shook his head. "Girl, you don't know how good you look, do you?"

"Well, I…I just need to lose a few pounds," she stammered.

"Lose a few pounds my ass! You're beautiful. I love your curves. I don't need an anorexic woman. I want a girl who knows how to live, how to eat," he said, wrapping his arms around her again. "How to love."

He scooped her up like a bride about to cross the threshold and started climbing the stairs. Panic rose in her throat. "Natron, you can't. Please! You'll drop me."

He merely chuckled. "You don't know how strong I am. I'm not gonna drop you."

"But Natron, what are you doing?"

"What do you think I'm doing? Takin' you to bed."

"But, but…it's so fast." The alarm bells that had been going off in her head waned. His persuasive charms were quickly overriding her concerns, and she longed to give in to him.

"When I see what I want I have to have it. And right now what I want is you." He nuzzled her neck, nibbling his way around her earlobe.

The words "right now" stuck in her head. Okay, so he wanted her now, but what about afterwards? Would he want her later or would she be just another conquest for the big football star?

When he reached the top of the stairs he tossed her on the bed and proceeded to take off the rest of his clothes. As he stood there in all his naked glory, Carmen drew a ragged breath. He was gorgeous.

Good Lord he must have to work out constantly to look like that and still eat pizza. His body was rock hard, every muscle well-defined. He even had that sexy Apollo's belt that made that deep "v" leading directly to his enormous cock. As impressive as the rest of him was, it was impossible for her not to stare at his erection jutting out proudly before him. She'd heard black men were bigger, and in his case the rumor proved to be true.

"Now it's your turn," he tugged at her panties.

"Natron, I don't know. Maybe this isn't such a good idea…" He pursed his lips. "Alright then, let's play a game instead."

She closed her legs, eyeing him skeptically. "What kind of game?"

"I call it 'Everything But'," he said.

"What do you do?" The game sounded rather self-explanatory, but she was stalling for time.

"You get naked and we can do everything but have sex. No penetration. Just foolin' around." He sat on the bed next to her and reached behind her to unfasten her bra. "No harm in that, is there?"

Bait
By Courtney Farrell

Blurb-

A crew of orphans is all that stands between Jackie and life as a prisoner in some squalid basement harem. When pox killed their parents, she took the boys in. Taught them to scavenge. Taught them to kill. But she's not much older than they are, and the boys are growing up fast. Her authority is eroding. The guys begin to compete, and the winner will lead the crew, alongside her. Infighting threatens to tear the crew apart. When rival gangs discover that their little band has one of the last surviving girls, Jackie must make a decision. Will she give herself up to save her crew, or take off alone through the streets?

Rape gangs might be the least of her worries. Pox is spreading among animals, who gain an eerie intelligence before they sicken and die. One-legged Joe thinks she's nuts, but Jackie is convinced. The pox is sentient, and it's after her.

Amazon Icon photo amazonicon.png

Excerpt-

He pressed his body hard against mine, and I forgot my worries over Flint, or the pox, or anything. I tipped my head back, lips parted, my hands wrapped around the outsides of his thighs. Dakota's fingers traced the low-cut neckline of my dress. He kissed the soft hollow between my neck and shoulder. "I love you, Jackie."

A thrill went through me. "I guess I accidentally told you, the night we thought the pox got me, but . . ." I couldn't say it. Even though it was true. I couldn't tell him I loved him. I didn't know why. Maybe it was all tangled up in my mind with begging him to shoot me.

If I succumbed, and gave him my heart, would I become a girlie-girl, giggling and flipping my hair? I doubted it. I'd rather be a mythical outlaw, going into combat by my lover's side. Sadly, I suspected that my future would be a lot less epic, and a lot more about diapers and dirty dishes. Was I ready for that? Was he?

Dakota gently turned me to face him. I couldn't even speak. He was everything I ever wanted. My doubts faded. I stood on tiptoe and kissed him, his dark, wavy hair soft between my fingers.

"That night, when you stole the Jeep, and I thought you'd been infected," Dakota whispered. "That's when I knew I loved you. That could have been the worst day of my life, but it turned out all right."

He reached out and opened our ragged curtains a little. Only a few scattered lights dotted the dark city. On the other side of the diner, Keenan rolled over in his booth. I hoped he was asleep. It wouldn't be past him to come out and make trouble, especially if he saw me and Dakota kissing.

"So, I've been thinking about you and me, pretty much nonstop." Dakota laughed softly. "And I had this idea. Can I show you?"

I smiled. "Sure."

Dakota took me over to the bar. "See how there's already kind of an enclosed space here? With a little work, we could build ourselves a room. I know it smells like stale beer in there now, but…"

"I don't mind, as long as you're in there with me," I whispered.

We moved behind the bar and kissed until I thought we'd both lose control. Dakota slid his hands under my dress and touched me in places no boy ever had. His whole body felt tight with pent-up tension. "Oh, Jackie, I want you so bad," he whispered.

I twined my arms around his neck, stood on tiptoe, and touched his ear lightly with the tip of my tongue, enjoying the shiver it sent through him. I whispered one word. "Yes."

Dakota took a quick breath. He pulled back a little to look at me. "Are you sure?"

"Completely." I looked down in case he saw the truth in my eyes. I did want Dakota, more than anything, and I couldn't wait. Not just because I loved him. Not just because he drove me out of my mind with desire. I couldn't afford to wait. Flint's Army was right outside, and I wanted my first time to be with Dakota. That gift was for him. Not for Flint, or one of Rico's men.

After a while, I sat on the bar, legs dangling. Dakota stood in front of me, and I cradled his ribs between my thighs. His head rested on my chest. Joy radiated off him. So much love filled me that I thought it could fly out and heal the whole world. Then Flint's drums pounded from outside. Our sentries howled their defiance.

"Build this room soon, Dakota," I whispered, stroking his dark hair. "Really soon."

 photo waxcreative-bn-nook.png photo kobo-icon1.png

Excerpt:

She traced a circle in the sand with her finger.

Why would she disclose her whole existence to someone she'd just met? Someone who talked so little about himself that she found herself talking to fill the void. Saying things she could barely admit in her own head.

His hand covered hers. "I'm lonely, too. Getting to know you this week has been the brightest point in my life and I don't want you to leave, but I know the only place you'll be safe is far away from me."

She swallowed. He had read her mind.

He lay down on his back and closed his eyes. "Cali, you know when you hear a song for the first time and you kind of ingest it? You can't possibly know right away that it will be one of your favorite songs for the rest of your life. A classic."

"Yeah." She hoped he was going somewhere good with this.

"That first listen," he continued, "you pick up a little of the melody and some lyrics that catch you. But when the song ends, you have to hear it again because you want to memorize all the words and sing along. After you hear it a few times and learn the words inside and out, then you begin to let the melody seep inside you. Next thing you know, you've completely digested the song and find yourself humming it while you are doing nothing, like shaving or driving your car. Finally, the song becomes so ingrained it becomes a part of you. Forever. You can recall it and it's with you whenever you need it. Am I making any sense?" She nodded, blinking back the tears fighting to fall.

"Cali, I don't want you to go back because you're my favorite song."

My Review:

Calise Rowe has been working in her family's business since she was sixteen years old as a cashier but she swept the floors in grade school before she was cashier. When her father had a heart attack during her senior year in high school and gave up his position as co-owner with her uncle of Rowe's Pharmacy. Calise knew then that everyone expected her to go to college and get her degree in pharmacology. So she did what everyone expected she got her doctorate in pharmacology and became a part of the family owned business.

Calise has this secret ability where she can feel these powerful waves of energy flowing around certain people. Calise wanted to know the truth about what she could feel. She wanted answers as to what and who she is. Her mother always told her to ignore it; it is nothing, to keep it hid from the outside world.

After an incident at the pharmacy one night while she was filling a prescription for a new customer she was determined to find those answers. So she took off on a little vacation to Mal Pais. She is going to stay at a friend of her brothers from high school who owns a resort on the island. Her brother's friend, Ron has been in Mal Pais since their vacation right after they graduated. Ron met a woman on the island, fell in love and decide to stay and make a life for him and his new wife on the island.

If Calise thought she had ran into a little trouble back home she was sadly mistaken. She was going to find out real quick like how wrong she was after meeting with a few people on the island. Oh she has met up with some very good people as well though. Luca is one of those people being the most gorgeous, sexiest man alive. Whom she wants to protect at all cost. But this new guy Lucas has sworn off women. You see Lucas is a seer and he has had some bad experiences with women in the past and Lucas never intentionally wants to hurt anyone. So therefore he has put women out of his life for good. Lucas will not let anyone get close to him anymore.

I loved how gifted the author is in making the characters come to life. She gave a very descriptive explanation of each and every character in the book. She made the words jump right off the page at you. It's like you could actually picture it in your head. You're like dang I would love to see that on the big screen!

She also has a way of making you feel what the characters feel as if you are there with them like you are a part of the story. You don't feel like you are reading. You get so lost in the story as if you are that character.

Author Interview:

What inspired you to write The Seer's Lover?

I was working in the pharmacy late one night and an older gentleman came in speaking broken English. He grabbed my hands and told me, "They are all around us! Be careful! I was meant to come in here and tell you this and you will never see me again!"

That really happened! And I never did see him again, but this became part of the opening scene of The Seer's Lover.

When or at what age did you know you wanted to be a writer?

Since grade school when my seventh grade teacher read my autobiography and laughed so hard she cried. I wanted people to have escapism, happiness and adventure through my words.

What is the earliest age you remember reading your first book?

I wrote a lot of poems over the years, but The Seer's Lover is the first novel I ever completed. Now I can't stop writing!

What genre of books do you enjoy reading?

Everything from non-fiction, to Shakespeare to Stephen King!

What is your favorite book?

The Tao Te Ching. If you've never read this simple book of words to live by, you don't know what you're missing.

You know I think we all have a favorite author. Who is your favorite author and why?

William Shakespeare. I understand him. Some people read him or see Shakespeare performed live and it sounds like another language. I've always read and heard Shakespeare and loved the musical magic he created with words.

If you could travel back in time here on earth to any place or time. Where would you go and why?

One day in Madison, WI when I was jogging with my dogs and passed my now-husband on his bike. We both remember. I wish I could go back and stop and talk to him.

When writing a book do you find that writing comes easy for you or is it a difficult task?

Sometimes easy, sometime difficult!

Do you have any little fuzzy friends? Like a dog or a cat? Or any pets?

Wow - we have a HUGE variety of pets! We have a Bullador named Beef, a mini-dauschund named Lily, two geckos named Leroy and Dude, a rat named Poe, a hermit crab named Swirl, a red-eared slider turtle name Gamera, and a famous cat named Maximillion Gigan. Whew…

What is your "to die for", favorite food/foods to eat?

Pizza. But my sweet tooth is really bad too. My sister introduced me to Zero bars as a kid - I love those!

Do you have any advice for anyone that would like to be an author?

Grow thick skin. As long as YOU love what you are writing and you are open to constructive criticism, don't be afraid to let those who do it better, help you out with even the harshest of advice. It will only make you a stronger writer in the end! Be a lifelong learner :

Acclaim for THE SEER'S LOVER:

"Distinctly haunting and deliciously dark, The Seer's Lover is the debut novel from author Kat De Falla and it's one to be read with the light on! A paranormal romance, it may not howl originality as the age old forces of Angels and Demons muster for yet another face off, but De Falla certainly distinguishes herself with the quality of her writing and the ability to weave a riveting and intriguing plot. With a meticulous eye for detail her characters are skillfully drawn, shunning the genre tendency towards stoic stereotypes to deliver flawed real world personas that quickly feel familiar and are ultimately endearing. The action is generous and well described, the twists served with perfect timing, it has all the elements readers expect from the best in genre and they are sure to keep the pages turning at a frantic pace."
--Book Viral (http://bookviral.com/the-seers-lover/4584242750)

The Seer's Lover is truly an unusual creation in the e-world: it comes with musical interludes (which can be downloaded for free) and it tells of Calise, who has long known she has different abilities than most. What she hasn't realized is that her powers will draw her into an ancient conflict between good and evil, pitting her against some of the strongest adversaries in the universe.

If all this sounds familiar, it's because the classic 'good-versus-evil' plot has been done time and again: but as with any good book, it's not just the plot that makes for an exceptional read, but how it's done.

Kat de Falla places her main protagonist on a journey of discovery that leads to the Costa Rican forest, there to encounter a man who (much like herself) has hidden his abilities. Lucas can actually see the demons and angels who walk the earth; but not only has he concealed his abilities; he doesn't want to endanger her by sharing his gift.

What evolves is paranormal romance fiction at its best: a story steeped in passion with the overlay of deadly dangers and powerful talents woven into an ever-changing plot.

Now, the genre of paranormal romance has rapidly expanded. Over the last ten years romance writers have added a variety of elements to spice their creations, and entry into paranormal realms is just one of these newer devices. Another device used here is that of music which runs through the story line as a theme so that musical passages accompany the story.

The Seer's Lover is all about building atmosphere, from its eye-catching cover of a man and a woman on an island facing down blazing red eyes in the sky to these musical interludes that reinforce action.

And this atmosphere is created right from the start, where Calise is already involved with Lucas: "Why would she disclose her whole existence to someone she'd just met? Someone who talked so little about himself that she found herself talking to fill the void. Saying things she could barely admit in her own head."

There are no pat answers here; no formula approaches that would lend too much predictability to events. Calise is alternately brave and terrified, as her abilities are yet untested but her adversaries are seasoned and powerful: "This is not going so well. I'm turning out to be a pretty shitty Buffy the Demon Slayer."

And there are surprises peppered throughout: in the form of a mother whom Calise comes to realize as the wellspring of her powers, and in the guise of a romances past and present which rise up to haunt her. There are unexpected religious experiences, there's a search to find self, and there are elements of suspense tying all of these events together.

In the end Calise faces the greatest challenge of her life - and with prior events having helped her grow, she's in the strongest position ever to find peace in her life.

The open-ended conclusion leaves room for a possible sequel but in the true style of a superior read, it's not essential that more be written: The Seer's Lover is a self-contained novel that properly wraps up its story, and will satisfy any reader of paranormal or romance fiction.

Highly entertaining by anyone's reckoning, The Seer's Lover from author Kat De Falla is an exciting debut novel and certainly one that deserves a place on your reading shelf. It is strongly recommended.

Summary from Goodreads:
Europe? Nope. Mexico? Nope. Key West?

Not me. This summer, I'm playing nursemaid to my sister. Yeah, I know. Relatively good looking twenty-two-year-olds don't spend the summer bedside in the cancer ward, but that's the plan - until my sister threatens me with bodily harm unless I get on the plane.

That's when I met him. He likes me. Really likes me. But more than that, he loves my boobs -- like can't get enough. I have no idea how to tell him that they'll be gone soon. Courtesy of a preventative double mastectomy. Yep. That's what testing positive for the breast cancer gene mutation will do to a girl.

But don't feel sorry for me. I'm enjoying him, holding on until the last possible minute, while I muster up the strength to tell him, and watch him walk away.

Amazon * Barnes & Noble

Excerpt:
What. The. Fuck. Just happened?

I've spent over a month immersing myself in meaningless television and eschewed happy romance novels, which I love, for the less warm and fuzzy works of grotesque horror and true crime. All in the name of getting over the beautiful boy from the Keys.

Then he up and shows in my neck of the woods. Apparently for the next several years.

YEARS.

I could have said no. I could have lied, like I lied about the job interview earlier via text.

Staring into those honeyed hazel eyes, lying became impossible.

Saying I didn't want to go on a date would have been a whopper.

It's one meal. After tonight, I'll pack up, break my lease, and move home to Daddy's. Change my phone number and cut all ties.

Hmmm. That seems like an awful lot of trouble to avoid the person I want to spend time with the most.

I still can't forget the last things we said to each other in Florida. I know what I was going to say.

I'm positive he was going to tell me he loved me, too.

Stars swirl around my head every time I think of him, and when I turned to find him behind me, I almost passed out.

I think Mama tried to send me a message from heaven when Shay asked me out. A moment after he asked, as I was shaking my head no, the music filtering from the coffee shop faintly answered the question on repeat in my head: should I say yes?

Fleetwood Mac's "Over my Head."

So I agreed.

Seriously though, this is the end.
