Title- Break Free
By- Amber Garza
Genre- Contemporary Romance
Expected Publication Date- April 2014

Blurb-

Jade Mathews is on the run. Running from an addiction that almost destroyed her, and a man who wants her dead.

Kyler James is a writer, a recluse locked in a prison of his own making.

When Jade and Kyler meet they find solace in one another and start to heal. Until Jade stumbles upon Kyler's latest manuscript and is shocked to find that it is her story. One he couldn't know. Jade fears she's trusted the wrong person once again, and this time it may be her undoing.

Is the past destined to destroy them, or will they finally break free?

Excerpt-

Kyler's eyes softened around the edges. "Jade, your scars only make you more beautiful."

"Oh, please." I snorted. "This is not a scene from one of your books." I pushed away from the counter and turned my back on Kyler. "My scars don't make me beautiful. They make me hideous."

"Don't say that. Don't ever say that again." His voice was firm.

I grabbed at the fabric of my pants, rolling it between my fingers. I understood now. Kyler was no different from the others. Sure, his intentions may have been nobler, but he wanted what they all wanted. To control me. To make me obey.

I was steel. I was brick. I was iron. I wouldn't crumble. "Or you'll what?" My tone was low and deep, icy. "What will you do if I say it again?"

"I'll convince you that you're wrong."

"And how will you do that?" He'll hit me, kick me, punch me, burn me, cut me, starve me.

"I'll tell you that you're beautiful again and again."

The words crashed into me like a powerful wave. "What?"

"I'll say it over and over, as many times as you need, until you believe me."

I was glass. I was ice. I was fragile. I was breaking. I was his.

    Marriage isn't for you

Marriage Isn't For You: It's for the One You Love

What is the best wedding advice you ever received? For author Seth Adam Smith, it was the advice from his father who said, Marriage is not for you. It is about the person you marry. These few words completely changed the way Seth looked at his relationship with his wife-to-be. Because at that moment he realized that an expression of love is not about the person expressing it. Rather, it is about the person they choose to be with. It is about making the person you marry feel loved. Seth's blog post on the subject was viewed by more than twenty-seven million people, and he has been featured on several national TV programs including The Today Show. Now released as a hardcover book, these sage words make the perfect gift for newly married couples, those who have been around the block a few times, or anyone who wants to learn how to make their relationships stronger.

    The Concealing
    Spirit Warriors #1
    By D.E.L. Connor
    Release Date: 11/24/13
    191 pages

    Summary from Goodreads:

Sixteen-year-old Emme Belrose has it all: four best friends, a horse of her own, a hidden tepee hangout, and a blossoming romance with tall and handsome Charlie. These friends also have a secret. They can move their spirits into animal bodies: an osprey, a mustang, a grizzly, a mountain lion and a coyote.

But when Charlie, who has a gift for seeing the future, has a vision of Emme drowning in the icy Yellowstone River, the Spirit Warriors must train their animal bodies to kill an enemy they know is coming… but know nothing about. Suspenseful, romantic, and awash in Native American magic, Spirit Warriors captures the tragic enchantment of the American West-and confirms the power of friendship.

    My Review:

I received a free copy of the book from the author for my honest opinion.

Emme and her friends Lily, Bets, Ollie and Charlie all love going out on the Arrington ranch and doing reenactments of the Civil War. After they get through acting out the war they then go to their place in the clearing and camp out in their teepees. Charlie's grandfather Archie stays with them when they are camping. Everyone loves Charlie's grandfather Archie. He is real cool for an older guy. Emme actually met Archie before she met Charlie.

Emme met Archie one day when she was out riding her horse Gus and fell off. Archie stops and ask her if she is ok? Emme bounces back on her feet quickly to prove that she is ok. Archie offers to give Emme riding lessons at the Arrington ranch for free. Emme and her friends all love being with Archie.

Emme met Charlie right after he started going to her school when they were in elementary. Charlie had a seizure, the teacher was in the process of trying to put something in Charlie's mouth when Emme ran over and pushed her out of the way and laid on Charlie trying to hold him still so he wouldn't hurt himself while at the same time talking to him calming him down and just letting him know that someone was there with him. Later after Charlie stopped seizing Emme was asked how she knew what to do? Emme explained to them that she had a horse that had seizures and that is what they do for him. Everyone in the whole class including the teacher and the nurse laughed at Emme. Emme and Charlie were best friends from that day forward after looking into each other's eyes.

I love all the characters in Spirit Warriors: The Concealing. We have Emme, Charlie, Lilly, Bets, Ollie, Jack and Raymond who are all the greatest of people and friends. I don't think there is nothing that either one of them would do for the other including give up their own lives. Each and every one of them would die if that meant the other would live. The things that they do for each other are out of this world. It would be so nice to have friends like that. They spend the majority of their time with each other at one of their homes if they are not in the clearing their own private place that only they know about. The only time they are apart is if they are a sleep but even then they are all together most of the time.

The Concealing is one of the best books that I have read in a long time. The Concealing will touch your heart deeply. It will make you happy but it will make you so sad that you will need at least four or five boxes of Kleenex. Parts of The Concealing had me laughing right along with all the characters and then parts of it had me crying my eyes out. You will fall head over heels in love with all of the characters and the plot as well in The Concealing. Each and every one of the characters all reaches out and touch the hearts of just about everyone they come in contact with. The Concealing is definitely one book that I highly recommend to everyone. I don't know how I am going to stand waiting for the next book to come out..

    My Review: Mind Games

I received a free copy of the book from the author for my honest opinion.

Mind Games starts out with action right from the very beginning with Evan who is Cassie Scot's friend. Evan is trying to save a young woman from a group of magical beings and to keep them from using her as a human sacrifice. Evan has his hands full trying to get through all of the magical beings when he runs into a vampire and is wondering why a vampire is there with them but he has no time to dwell on that fact while trying to stay alive. While Evan is fighting with these people Cassie's cousin Jason a vampire himself shows up to help Evan with his battle. Somehow while fighting with these people Evan has time to think about his friend Cassie and the wrong he has done to her. He feels bad and wants to tell her but has not had the nerve as of yet to tell her. And the guilt is eating him alive.

Cassie has had a lot of heart break in her short life span. Cassie's family all have magical powers of some sort except Cassie herself. Cassie's Dad broke her heart by disowning her and throwing her out of the house. Cassie and two of her best friends Kaitlin and Madison have moved in together. Kaitlin is pregnant with Cassie's cousin Jason's baby and Kaitlin is always upset because he left her and she believes that her baby will grow up without a father like she did. Her other friend Madison is dating Cassie's brother and they have a lot of fun together even though Nicolas is a few years younger than Madison. But Nicolas is very good for Madison. She needs someone in her life like Nicolas who can show her how to laugh and have a good time. She needs someone to show her how to be happy since her father threw her out as well. Cassie tries very hard to help Madison and Kaitlin with their problems. She also tries to help take care of all of her brothers and sisters as well. She tries so hard to take care of everyone else that she hardly has anytime left for Cassie. So they all three make for good friends. They are all always trying to help the other to be happy and help each other get over losing the love of the life.

A new guy Matthew who can read people's mind has taken an interest in Cassie and wants to spend time with her. Cassie is not sure she can trust anyone who can read her mind or if she wants to trust him. But she kind of likes him and is attracted to him so she decides why not go out with him and give it a chance. Evan has left town and took her heart with him not to mention the fact that he broke it before he left. So now she figures she may as well get on with her life and try to not feel the hurt that is in her heart. Dwelling on it is not going to get her anywhere. If she keeps dwelling on it, it is just going to cause her more and more hurt.

Cassie finds out that her best friend since childhood and now her ex-boyfriend has something that belongs to her and refuses to give it back to her. He broke her heart when he broke off their relationship and left town for a few weeks. Evan is so very much in love with her and Cassie loved him just as much or more but now that she has found out that he has something that belongs to her and will not give it back. Cassie's heart is crushed all over again but Evan is not the only one that has taken her heart out and stomped on it. There are other people in her life that she loves very much that had a hand in Evan having what belongs to her.

Mind Games is filled with so much suspense and mystery from the very first page until the very last page. Half the time I didn't know what was going on but that is not a bad thing that is a good thing. When you don't know what is going on in a book just means that the author is a very good writer that knows how to keep her readers wanting more and wanting to keep on reading because you just got to know what is going happen next. The Cassie Scot series is one of the best series around. I have truly enjoyed reading each and every one of them and can't or hope I get to read more of Cassie's adventures.

Praise for the Cassie Scot Series

    From Publisher's Weekly:

"Amsden continues the story of the only mundane member of a supernaturally-gifted family in this middling sequel to Cassie Scot: ParaNormal Detective. Cassie, stubborn and proud, is bravely trying to live on her own after her family disowns her. Struggling to make ends meet, she accepts a case involving a pair of magical girls who disappeared from summer camp. With the aid of the handsome Evan Blackwood, to whom Cassie is attracted despite her family's disapproval and her own better judgment, she follows the trail of the missing girls. What she finds is a dark side of the magical world, and the hidden depths of her family's past force her to reconsider long-held assumptions. The growing complexity of Cassie's world makes this an entertaining installment, focusing as much on the will-they, won't-they romantic chemistry between Cassie and Evan as on the primary mystery. An inconclusive ending is clearly intended to feed into the next volume."

Kim Falconer, bestselling author of The Spell of Rosette, Quantum Enchantment Series, had this to say:

"When sorcerers call the shots, what's a girl without powers to do? Get ready for a ripper of a murder mystery full of romance and intrigue, where magic potions bubble, passions spark and vampires are definitely not your friend. Cassie Scot: ParaNormal Detective grabs you by the heart and won't let go until the very last page. Well written, immersive and unputdownable. This is urban fantasy at its best. More please!"
