His hunger for blood strengthens, and the cravings become too powerful to control. No one is safe, not even his family. To safeguard all he once found dear, Brandon sets out on a quest for answers. In an unfamiliar city, he comes face-to-face with the beautiful young woman, confronts the dark force which controls him, and learns what he must endure to reclaim his soul.

Can
you tell us a little bit about the characters in Immortal Kiss?
Three of the main characters are, Beth Ryan, who grew up
believing in vampires, and for good reason, Philippe Delon, a 700-year-old
vampire who treasures his human soul, and Amon, an arrogant vampire god, and
one of ten vampires who bled life into vampirism.
Can
you tell us a little bit about your next books or what you have planned for the
future?
I’m currently writing, The Soul Collector, my first
non-vampire book. When healthy people
suffer a tragic accident and slip into a comma, the soul collector is there to
offer them a solution; however, in return, they must offer her a sample of
their blood and sign her magic book.
How
long would you say it takes you to write a book?
Usually, about 1 year.
What
is your favorite childhood book?
Island of the Blue Dolphins by Scott O’Dell
If
you could spend the day with one of the characters from The Vampire Within who
would it be? Please tell us why you chose this particular character, where you
would go and what you would do.
I chose Brandon Cass as he’s just an
average teenager living in Los Angeles.
Everything was all pretty normal until he wakes up one day craving
blood, and with no idea why. I’d follow him as he sets out on a quest for
answers. We’d visited a physic, checked out a vampire club, traveled to a
vampire haven, met a ton of vampires, and take part in a magic ritual.
What
was the hardest scene from Blood by Blood to write?
Probably the scene where the team comes under attack from
a new breed of vampire hunter. There are
several characters involved and I wanted to capture all their different
emotions in that scene, from disbelief to fear.
What
made you want to become a writer?
Reading Anne Rice’s Vampire
Chronicles. I had finished the 4th book, The Tale of the Body Thief
and Memnoch the Devil wasn’t coming out for a year. I couldn’t wait, so I decided to write my own
book to fill in the gap of time.

A book cover is the first thing
people see. It triggers an immediate reaction, emotionally and mentally, as it
gives a sense of the story inside. The cover is the invitation that will
influence the reader to take a closer look. Is the cover art professional? Is
the title clear? Can the reader relate? Does the cover convey the tone and
genre of the story? These are important factors when determining and designing
a book cover.
Adobe Photoshop is a powerful tool
and can create a beautiful professional cover, but only when proficient in
Photoshop, and, the software can be rather overwhelming. Given that the cover is
the first impression, it’s best to invest in a reputable graphic designer
or book cover service to produce a fantastic cover that fuels the reader with
the urge to buy. The design should be intriguing and give away just enough to
persuade the reader. Title placement and font choices are key to a superior
cover. A smart design is the first indicator to the reader of a book’s
professional quality inside and out. An attention-grabbing cover will also earn
more sales.
We’ve all heard the saying “Don’t
judge a book by its cover” the reality is a vast majority of readers do just
that. If a cover is too busy, has pixelated images, an unclear text, or it’s
sloppy it implies the interior may be substandard as well. Readers may
react critically and be less forgiving of typos or pass on the book altogether.
One of the main reasons for marginal book sales is an unprofessional cover.
Book cover design has a tremendous
power of the consumer. It will engage readers and pull them into the story even
before reading the description. A creative and high-quality cover is one of the
most important factors in book marketing.
