SYNOPSIS

Going Under

Brooke Wright has only two goals her senior year at Charity Run High School: stay out of trouble and learn to forgive herself for the past. Forgiveness proves elusive, and trouble finds her anyway when she discovers a secret club at school connected to the death of her best friend. She learns that swim team members participate in a "Fantasy Slut League," scoring points for their sexual acts with unsuspecting girls.

Brooke, wracked with guilt over her friend's death, decides to infiltrate the league by becoming one of the "unsuspecting girls," and exact revenge on the boys who stole away her best friend. An unexpected romance complicates her plans, and her dogged pursuit of justice turns her reckless as she underestimates just how far the boys will go to keep their sex club a secret.

(This is a New Adult fiction book with mature themes. It contains explicit language and descriptions of sexual violence.)

Going Under

I had no business getting all dolled up for Ryan. I was supposed to be focused on Cal, but somehow he became just some guy in the background, out of focus and unimportant in my life. I thought I heard Beth screaming from a far off place, asking me what the hell I was doing, but I ignored her. She couldn't control my life. I'd get to Cal when I got to him. She had to understand that.

I studied myself in the full-length mirror. I'd never looked prettier for work. I thought I looked like a Barbie doll, my hair pulled up high on my head in a ponytail, locks curled and tumbling in flirty waves from the elastic band. I pumped up the eye factor with heavy mascara. I wanted to go for an Edie Sedgwick look-all '60s glam. I even ironed my uniform, a typical diner waitress outfit. Blue shirtdress that hit just above my knees. I slipped on my Keds and grabbed my apron.

I planned to knock his socks off.

. . . I approached him after counting to twenty. I didn't want to seem too eager.

"Hi," I said. I felt bright and bubbly and on top of the world.

"Hello."

I placed my hand on my hip and popped it out. "Come here often?" I couldn't resist.

"Once. The waitress was cute, but she's got nothing on you," Ryan said.

Damn right she doesn't. I went Edie Sedgwick for you, buddy.

"God, you look gorgeous," he said.

Oh, those heart flutters. I wanted to feel those heart flutters forever.

"I'm in an ugly uniform," I said, looking down at my outfit. I smoothed my apron on my stomach.

"Not ugly at all. Sexy more like."

I blushed, and this time he saw. I couldn't conceal it under the glare of the restaurant lights.

"Hungry?" I asked, and pulled out my order pad.

"What would you recommend?"

"Honestly? I've only eaten the turkey sandwich. It was all right," I confessed.

"Don't you get to eat for free?" Ryan asked.

"Are you kidding? A little bit of a discount, sure, but nothing for free," I said. "And anyway, I'm so tired after work, I don't want to stick around and eat. I want to go home."

"I can understand that," he said. He looked over the menu. "Well, I guess I'll try this steak sandwich."

"A man who eats manly meat," I said. "I like it."

"Manly meat, huh?" he asked, chuckling.

"Sure. Didn't you know steak was the manliest of meats?"

"Making a note of it," Ryan said.

I nodded. "And to drink?"

"A Cherry Coke," he said.

"Now that's a little girly, but I'll let it slide."

"Well, I really ordered it for you," Ryan said. "See, I thought you could bring it over here along with two straws. You could sit across from me, and we could drink it together."

BOOK DESCRIPTION

Frost

Dagney Night, a sought-after succubus, is no stranger to blazing hot sex. But as Valentine's Day approaches, she longs for something more. When oddly erotic paintings arrive for display at her art gallery, arousing everyone who views them, she wonders about the mysterious artist who created the works.

Maxwell Raines, a fire-sex demon, lives a life of solitude and seclusion behind the walls of his compound at Sleepy Hollow, channeling his lustful impulses into his art-until his muse deserts him and his temperature rises past the danger point. He needs sex. Now.

When Madame Evangeline arranges a torrid Valentine's 1Night Stand for them, will the flames of their encounter be too hot to handle?

EXCERPT

Frost

Dagney followed her sister's glance, and her heart flipped like a gymnast unable to nail a vault. Darkness swathed the gallery with the exception of the lights above or below each of the paintings. The large man emerging from the shadows held her rapt. Waves of pure, unadulterated lust smacked her with such force she didn't even see Lily and Campbell leave. The blast of raw desire crumpled her to the floor. Her gaze remained riveted on the tall hunk of ferocious male stalking toward her, radiating undiluted carnality. He set something carefully on the floor and grasped her by the elbows, his touch surprisingly gentle when he lifted her to her feet.

"I'm Maxwell Raines."

Yeah. No kidding. Who else could a guy so hot, so studly, possibly be?

She told herself not to swoon. Ordered herself not to swoon. But, Goddess, that rumbling voice. More potent than a train barreling over the tracks. And he smelled so good. Sinfully masculine. A bit of musk, a bite of pine, an essence of dark, smoky nights. Sexy scents. Reminiscent of tangled satin sheets that had been given a good work-out.

Her legs turned to rubber, and she doubted they'd support her on their own. She'd be mortified if he'd have to scrape her puddled body up again. But he hadn't yet relaxed his grip. Could she bullshit her way through the meeting without collapsing? "You're late," she said.

"I'm never late."

"Well, the party's over, Mr. Raines." She waved a hand around the empty room.

"Depends on your perspective."

"You're big on perspective, are you?"

"I'm a painter." A brief shrug accompanied his blunt words. "Obvious connection."

"Right. But as you can see, everyone's left."

"You haven't." He gazed down at her, a black brow flaring. "And you're what I'm here for."

MY REVIEW

Frost

The following review is my opinion and not a paid review. I was given a free copy of the book from the author for my honest opinion.

Dagney Night is a succubus who has to have sex to live. But she has come to a time in her life where sex without any kind of emotions is not enough. She wants more. She wants what her sister Lily found with her boyfriend from high school after a 1NightStand. Dagney has her own art gallery and has a showing of Max Raines paintings coming up. When Dagney sees his paintings and what is happening to everyone who lays eyes on them herself included. She is ready to contact Madame Evangeline for her own 1NightStand with Max for Valentines.

Max Raines is a fire-sex demon who lives alone and tries to stay away from having sex of any kind because he is tired of turning his partners into a pile of ash. When he finds out that the owner of the art gallery is none other than Dagney Night a succubus he also contacts Madame Evangeline to set him up with Dagney for a 1NightStand of his own.

This is not my first 1NightStand book and I hope it is not my last. I read Lightning book #1 in the Sleepy Hollow series by Taryn Kincaid and fell in love with the 1NightStand books and Taryn's writing. I can't wait to read more of Taryn's work and the 1NightStand stories. With having skipped reading book #2 Thunder I don't feel as I missed anything by not reading them in order. Each book has its own story and in my opinion they don't have to be read in order to know what is happening. After reading Lightning and now Frost I know I would really love Thunder as well.

Seduced by Innocence

Seduction comes in many forms.

"Liquid fire poured into me, filling me with the intimate sense of him as he leaned in to claim my lips with his own. I reached for him, needing him closer, but my arms couldn't close the distance between us, which grew wider with each hitched breath. So close to finally feeling something real, something carnal and deep, I cried out in frustration, dropping my hands as he disappeared. My cries deepened into a frenzy of panic and my eyes flew open. I clutched my blanket and stilled myself to calm my racing heart.

Just a dream. Always just a dream."

Rose Wintersong didn't have an ordinary upbringing. Raised in what most would call a hippy commune, but what is actually a powerful coven of witches, she never questions the life fate chose for her.

Seduced by Innocence
Chapter 1

Liquid fire poured into me, filling me with the intimate sense of him as he leaned in to claim my lips with his own. I reached for him, needing him closer, needing to feel his flesh against mine, but my arms couldn't close the distance between us, which grew wider with each hitched breath. So close to finally feeling something real, something carnal and deep, I cried out in frustration, dropping my hands as he disappeared. My cries deepened into a frenzy of panic and my eyes flew open. I clutched my blanket and stilled myself to calm my racing heart.

Just a dream. Always just a dream. It could never be more than that. Not with my dream man, not with any man. Knowing this did nothing to dampen the disappointment that weighed heavy on me each time I entered that one moment where dreams and reality co-existed and I forgot who I really was and what would happen if I ever experienced that level of surrender. But fear replaced my self-absorption when the alarms penetrated my foggy mind. Outside my cottage, footsteps raced through the cold night, crunching on newly fallen snow. Through my frosted window, flashlights wavered back and forth, looking for something, or someone. It's happening again!

The floor under my bare feet felt like ice as I slipped out of bed and fumbled in the dark for my clothes. Sandy, my loyal Alaskan Husky, whined when I moved to leave the cottage without her. I ran a hand through her thick white fur. "You want to come? I have to go make sure all of the kennel dogs are taken care of."

The alarm shut off, leaving us both in a stunned silence that filled the room. Sandy licked my hand and stood by the door waiting as I pulled on my boots and coat and braced myself for the cold. I rummaged through the basket next to my door, looking for my warmest gloves. At least in the winter I had a ready excuse for covering my hands.

Outside, the black pitch of night greeted me. No one had turned on the flood lights yet, which made me wonder if they'd been damaged. Flashlight in hand, dog by my side, I headed to the main house on our coven's 50-acre property as I sent my magic ahead of me to sift through the energy from the attack.

Before I could get more than a few steps, Blake ran up to me and laid his hand on my arm as he fought to catch his breath. He ignored Sandy's low growl as he pushed me toward the door. "You should go back in. They've broken onto the property again and slashed the tires of three vehicles and left a deer carcass as a gift."

My heart thumped with extra force at the news. "That's horrible. Whose cars?"

"The property truck, Darren's car and Lauren's." His jaw hardened and he narrowed his dark eyes, squeezing my arm tighter in his anger. "Bastards will cost us hundreds in new tires. They even smashed out the windows. We've got to strike back. Teach them a lesson."

Using my gloved hand, I eased his fingers off of me. He flinched at the touch, despite the layers of protection. Good thing I had a thick skin, sort of. I kept my voice calm, even through my own rage. "That's not a decision you can make on your own. We'll all talk about it when we meet tomorrow morning."

He waved his flashlight over his watch and smirked. "More like a few hours. It's 2 a.m. The meeting's in two hours."

"Then I'd better check on the dogs and try to get a bit more rest." I stepped around him to continue walking, but he blocked me with his large frame made of the kind of muscle you get, not from the gym, but from manual labor day in and out. He smelled of pine needles and snow, a scent that would have been appealing on anyone else but him.

"Rainbow wants everyone inside except the security team. The dogs are fine," he said.

I'd thought about it a lot, what it was about Blake that revolted me so much. Easy on the eyes, dedicated to our coven, though lacking magic of his own, he would have been a safe choice, if I'd had any choice at all. He'd even indicated an interest on more than one occasion. But his touch made my skin crawl, even through clothing. I shifted away from him.

"What about my sister? She must be scared."

"She's fifteen, Rose, not a little girl anymore. She's not as helpless as you think. Just go back inside. We'll handle this." He smiled to soften the command in his voice, and I sighed and walked back into the cottage.

I'm not a little girl anymore, either, I thought with a touch of bitterness. Guess no one got the memo.

Not for the first time I wished for a lock on my house, but none of us had locks, despite the recent string of break-ins. I shed my winter gear and gloves and toweled off the snow from Sandy's paws. Knowing I'd never get back to sleep, and frustrated that I'd been dismissed by Blake like some kid, despite the fact that I was nineteen and he was only twenty-one, I searched my one-room dwelling for something to occupy my time until our daily pre-dawn meeting.

My favorite romance novel sat on the dresser next to my bed and I reached for it, grateful that I could at least breathe in vicarious passion through the lives of others, if not my own. My hands stilled on the book as shivers of energy traveled through my body, connecting me to the earth, to my coven and to my family. Mother's voice called out to me through one of those lines. "Rose. Help! Hurry!"

We almost never communicated telepathically. The drain on energy and resources was just too much, and, with the modern convenience of cell phones, unnecessary. Besides that, most members of our coven didn't have enough power to do it. Heart racing in my chest, I ran out the door and through the dark with Sandy at my heels, straight to the lower level of the main house where Mother lived. The air crackled with fear and desperation and the ramped up emotion of it all forced my gut into uncomfortable knots.

As leader of the coven, my mother commanded the most power and respect. She'd never reached out to me for help before, which made this all the more alarming. I forced my legs to pump faster, Sandy running at my side, as I navigated through the icy paths masked with shadows of the night.

There should have been others out with flashlights, checking the property, but I didn't see or feel anyone. Perhaps the mental cries of Mother drowned out everyone else, I couldn't be sure.

When we reached her door, I hesitated. Mother didn't like people barging in on her. While everyone else in the coven had a default open door policy-meaning literally anyone else here could walk into your house without knocking.

Mother was immune from that. To some extent, so was I, but only because my coven feared an accidental touch. Only in my own home could I go gloveless, which is also why I got to live alone while others were forced to share housing.

Sandy whined and clawed at the door, jarring me out of my thoughts. Inside, something clattered to the ground and Mother screamed. I pushed the door open and tried to mentally ready myself.

But nothing could have prepared me for what I found.

***

A giant brown wolf stood before Mother, baring his teeth with a low, throaty growl that sent shivers of fear up my spine. Mother cowered in the corner of her couch, eyes like saucers as she backed away from the wolf with her hands in defense position. She made eye contact with me as I walked in. "Help! Rose, help! He attacked me."

Sandy growled and the pups in the kennel barked and yipped. Feeling utterly useless, I shouted at the wolf. "Get away from her!"

It turned its head to me, large golden eyes glowing in the dim light. For a moment I felt a connection to the beast, as if he was trying to tell me something, but the moment shattered when Mother shrieked at me. "Do something, Rose."

What did she want me to do? I didn't know self-defense, no one would let me study it. I had no weapons… other than myself. Mother, who-even cornered by this magnificent beast-looked in control and poised, with her midnight black hair in an up-do and her face made up with flawless makeup, glanced down meaningfully at my hands.

This couldn't be. She couldn't possibly want me to use my power on the wolf. It didn't even work on animals.

But this wolf, he felt more than animal. He was three times the size of even a large wolf, and at any rate what was a wolf doing in this area in the first place? Something tickled at the back of my mind. Something I should have known but had forgotten. It hovered on the edge of my memory, teasing me with knowledge just out of reach.

The wolf howled, his head high in the air, and responding howls coming from the woods outside echoed through the cold night.

Then it all clicked and I took a step back in reflexive anxiety. So it was true. All the stories and rumors. The O'Conner clan really could shapeshift… and they were here, on my land, attacking my family.

For months they'd been terrorizing our coven, trying to drive us out of our rural home in Washington. We refused to be bullied by the wealthy shamans who commanded the public favor in the local, and even international, spiritual communities.

We didn't have the money to fight them legally.

We didn't have the power to fight them magically.

And we had no idea what they wanted from us.

But they'd attacked relentlessly. Sabotaging our cars, destroying our property, leaving dead animals for us to find. Now, they'd sent someone to hurt Mother. Maybe kill her. Anger boiled inside of me, reaching through me and around me, and I could feel the steel traps around my power uncoiling as I took measured steps toward the wolf.

Reason left me. Fear abandoned me. Only rage sustained me as I reached out with bare hand to touch the flesh beneath the thick fur of the wolf.

With a final push, it flooded out of me. My darkest secret. My cross to bear. It pooled into my hand, turning it into the worst kind of weapon. My flesh turned to a fire only I could withstand, and the wolf howled in agony as his mind or soul, or whatever part of him made him 'him', turned to ash and left him forever.

I collapsed to the ground, vision blurred, body cold, hardwood floor beneath me shifting and dipping. Blackness pressed in on me, but before it could claim me entirely I saw the wolf shift back to human. A naked young man, no older than myself, lay in a heap of skin, muscle and bone, staring vacantly at me, eyes glazed over with a white haze that indicated he'd never be himself again.

His body still lived, but I'd essentially killed him.

A new kind of darkness squeezed my heart as I faded into nothing.

MY REVIEW

Seduced by Innocence

The following review is my opinion and not a paid review. I received a free copy of the book from the author for my honest opinion.

Rose is a witch with dark powers that she doesn't know how to control. She shares a cottage with her best friend Ocean in what is called a community. The community is made up of friends that are like family. Her mother Rainbow and little sister Jasmine also live in this little community of a coven of witches. Rose is like any other woman and wants what they want like someone she can love and who can love her back. Because of her magic everyone shuns her and are afraid of what she can do to them.

Rose's mother Rainbow has a very evil and cruel heart. The only thing she cares about is her own power and that of the covens. She will use anyone or anything to gain more power. Rose with the help of Ocean is beginning to find out who and what kind of person her mother is. Rose is nothing like her mother and never wants to hurt anyone. Rainbow controls Rose and everyone else in the coven using them to her advantage and making them believe all her lies.

Knowing that her mother is wrong about her using her powers and after finally realizing that she can't hurt anyone ever again with her powers, Rose decides that she wants to learn how to fight so that she can defend her family. Rose and Ocean decide to take karate lessons in secret with her mother having any knowledge of it.

When Ocean and Rose walk into the karate studio to sign up for lessons they meet Derek a Druid/wolf shifter. Rose is instantly attracted to Derek and he to her it is love at first sight for both of them. Derek has just come home after being away for a long time. Derek is the oldest son and is expected to take over the family business but this not what he wants. Derek wants to make it on his own and not have to depend on his father. He has come home because is little brother was in an accident and is in a coma like stage.

While both Derek and Rose's families are being attacked they have no clue that it is their families when they meet. Rose believes that the O'Conner's is attacking her and her family but she doesn't know that Derek is an O'Conner. Rose doesn't know that it is her family or mother that is attacking Derek's family.

Will Rose find out the truth about her mother? Can Derek and Rose stop the war between their families so that they can be together? This is the first book that I have read by Kimberly Kinrade and I can say that I truly loved it and can't wait to read more of her work. I really liked to reading Seduced by Innocence. I can't wait to start the next book Seduced by Pain. Can Derek forgive Rose? Will their love for each other be strong enough?

Review: Under the Desert Moon By Emma Meade

Under the Desert Moon

BOOK DESCRIPTION

Under the Desert Moon

17 year old Erin Harris spends her time daydreaming, hoping to escape her small town life in Copperfield, Arizona. When a movie crew arrives unexpectedly to shoot a vampire film over the summer, Erin’s small town world changes forever. Erin is positive she has seen the star, James Linkin before in a thirty year old TV show. He hasn’t aged a day. How is this possible? Erin is determined to find out, but how will James handle the scrutiny of an all too intelligent teenage girl?

MY REVIEW

Under the Desert Moon

The following review is my opinion and not a paid review. I received a free copy of the book from author for my honest opinion.

Erin Harris is a 17 year old girl who lives in a small town. She is kind of a loner who likes staying to herself. All Erin wants is to make it through high school and then go on to college. She wants to get out of the small town she lives in and away from her alcoholic father. Erin loves to take pictures and hopes one day to become a photographer.

Erin's twin brother comes running in one day to announce that a movie is going to be filmed in their home town of Copperfield, Arizona. Erin and Nick go down to the locale cafe where the movie crew and cast are hanging out. They find out that the movie is going to be about a vampire. Everyone in Copperfield is applying for parts as an extra in the movie. Erin gets herself a job taking pictures of the movie as it is being filmed. Nick gets a job as an assistant to one of the main stars in the movie.

While sitting at the cafe and eating her hamburger Erin locks eyes with a very handsome dude. She finds out later that he is the star of the movie. His name is James Linkin. Erin knows that she has seen him before but where? Then it hits her she saw him in an old tv show that she use to watch with her mother on vhs tapes. She is like no way it can't be him, he has not aged he still looks the same. James is hiding something. Can Erin find out what he is hiding?

Erin starts spending a lot of time with James so that she can do a little investigating and find out his secret. The more she hangs out with James the more attracted she becomes to him. James and Erin both fall head over hills as they say for each other real fast. Erin wants more than anything to be with James but she doesn't see how it could ever be possible because she will not leave Nick alone with their alcoholic father. Will Erin and James find a way to be together? Is it even possible?

Erin is a 17 year old girl but she is very mature for her age. But of course she has had no choice but to grow up real fast with an alcoholic father. Not only has she had to take care of herself all these years but she has taken care of her brother as well. And she has probably had to take care of her father too on more than one occasion. She has probably been the parent and her father the child at times.

If you are one of my blog followers then you know that I love reading about vampires and by now I guess you have already figured out the fact that I highly recommend you pick up your own copy of Under the Desert Moon, not tomorrow, not next week but today. But be on alert Under the Desert moon will suck you in from the first word and will not let go until the last word. Don't do like I did and put off reading this book. Why? Because I wish I had not waited so long. I was asked by the author Emma Meade to review Under the Desert Moon and would like to take this opportunity now to apologize to her for taking so long to read it and review it. And to say thank you Emma for letting me read Under the Desert Moon. I look forward to reading more of Emma's work in the future.

Her Loving Husband's Return

Book Three

The Loving Husband Trilogy

Meredith Allard

"I need to get home," James said aloud. He heard shuffling behind the wooden plank that separated his quarters from the rest of the barrack. "We all need to bloody well go home," he heard.

What would you do to return to the only one you have ever loved?

James Wentworth's secret is no longer a secret, and now he and his beloved wife, Sarah, have been separated. While suffering his own internment, James is reminded of his time with Japanese-Americans in the Manzanar Relocation Camp during World War II, and he cannot allow the past to repeat itself. With the help of his friends-Chandresh, Jocelyn, Timothy, even the irreverent Geoffrey-James learns what it means to return, and he is determined to return to his Sarah no matter the challenges-or the consequences. Will James and Sarah be reunited once and for all despite the madness surrounding them? Will James's most fervent wish be granted? The changes in store for the Wentworths may be irreversible.

Her Loving Husband's Return

Prologue

In seventy years so little has changed. Then, the gate was taller than the tallest person, electrified, eager to shock to the death. Looming above the fence were eight high-standing towers with armed guards with submachine guns who looked down upon the people as though they could be, should be shot for amusement's sake. They were at one with the enemy across the Pacific Ocean, many decided. They had to be. They were traitors. They were spies. How else can we separate the good ones from the bad ones? How else can we know the loyal ones from the conspirators? We must round them up like cattle and pen them here where they're safe from us and us from them.

Looming above the barracks, higher than the gates, beyond the guard towers, were the mountains. Always the mountains. They encompassed everything within their distance-one vast, jagged, granite wall stretching toward the heavens from the deepest valley in the Americas, cascading Vs flecked with icy snow, unmistakable even through the wintry clouds. The mountains were everything everywhere. If the gates, the guard towers, and the armed military police weren't enough to remind you that you were a prisoner here, the mountains shouted your helplessness. You are here, the mountains said, and we will trap you here forever.

I remember when the bus stopped near the guard station, a lonely shack at the edge of the camp, one window on either side, misshapen rocks slapped together with mortar, a pagoda-style roof. The guards spoke to the bus driver and barked directions as though the people inside were orange-clad prisoners linked by irons, but they were only families-fathers, mothers, children, grandparents. I remember the anxiety in those inside the gate, their quick-scanning eyes wide as they drew as close to the barbed-wire fence as they dared, searching those on the other side for missing family or friends. I remember the fear in those outside as they stepped off the bus and shivered in the bitter desert cold. Their clenched hands grabbed hold of family members and they stared without seeing the nighttime landscape of brush and tumbleweed that promised blinding dust storms, the horizon flat until the mountains. Always the mountains. The bewildered people outside clutched their bundles of luggage, all that was left of their former lives. The people from the buses were herded inside, shouted at, tagged and numbered. Already they were losing themselves. When the gate slammed and locked behind them they looked toward the outside as though they would never be free again.

So, yes, I have been here before. I have walked this arid wilderness. I have heard the sand blow a maddened howl in the night. I have seen the white-glow moonlight reflect the saw-toothed horizon. Through it all, the mountains have remained the same. After all, what is seventy years to a mountain range that has watched millennia pass away? Now, the gates are taller since they guess we can jump anything less. Now, the gates have silver coating, the barbs deemed no longer necessary since they guess the barbs cannot pierce our preternatural skin. Now, the military police carry guns with silver bullets, which we secretly laugh at. Now, I am the one who has been carted away, considered too unpredictable to be out among polite society. Yet the barracks, the mess halls, the natural barrier of the mountains between us and everyone else in the world…so much of it is the same. There are nights when I cannot make the distinction between then, when I was here from compassion, and now, when I am the one encaged. But do not worry for me, my love. Now, with this silver-coated gate and these imposing mountains between us, I am reminded all too strongly how I cannot be without you. Soon, Sarah. I will hold you in my arms soon. Be patient this little longer, my love, and I will return to you. I will.

The Loving Husband Trilogy

Meredith Allard

How far will you go to protect the one you love?

Finally, after many long and lonely years, James Wentworth's life is falling into place. Together with his wife, Sarah, the only woman he has ever loved, he has found the meaning behind her nightmares about the Salem Witch Trials, and now they are rebuilding the life they began together so long ago.

But the past is never far behind for the Wentworths. While Sarah is haunted by new visions, now about the baby she carried over three hundred years before, James is confronted with painful memories from his time with the Cherokee on the Trail of Tears. Through it all, the persistent reporter Kenneth Hempel reappears, still determined to prove that the undead walk the earth. If Hempel succeeds in his quest, James and Sarah will suffer. Will the curse of the vampire prevent James and Sarah from living their happily ever after?

Her Dear and Loving Husband

The Loving Husband Trilogy

By Meredith Allard

James Wentworth has a secret. He lives quietly in Salem, Massachusetts, making few ties with anyone. One night his private world is turned upside down when he meets Sarah Alexander, a dead ringer for his wife, Elizabeth. Though it has been years since Elizabeth's death, James cannot move on.

Sarah also has a secret. She is haunted by nightmares about the Salem Witch Trials, and every night she is awakened by visions of hangings, being arrested, and dying in jail. Despite the obstacles of their secrets, James and Sarah fall in love. As James comes to terms with his feelings for Sarah, he must dodge accusations from a reporter desperate to prove that James is not who, or what, he seems to be. Soon James and Sarah piece their stories together and discover a mystery that may bind them in ways they never imagined. Will James make the ultimate sacrifice to protect Sarah and prevent a new hunt from bringing hysteria to Salem again?

Part historical fiction, part romance, part paranormal fantasy, Her Dear & Loving Husband is a story for anyone who believes that true love never dies.

Promo Blitz: After the Ending Lindsey Fairleigh and Lindsey Pogue

After the Ending
Lindsey Fairleigh and Lindsey Pogue
Sci-Fi / Dystopian
Date Published: 2/22/13

The Virus spread. Billions died. The Ending began. We may have survived the apocalypse, but the Virus changed us.
When people started getting sick, "they" thought it was just the flu. My roommate, my boyfriend, my family…they're all gone now. I got sick too. I should have died with them-with the rest of the world-but I didn't. I thought witnessing the human population almost disappear off the face of the earth was the craziest thing I'd ever experience. I was so wrong. My name is Dani O'Connor, I'm twenty-six-years-old, and I survived The Ending.
The Virus changed everything. The world I knew is gone, and life is backwards. We've all had to start over. I've been stripped of my home, my dreams…all that is me. I'm someone else now- broken and changed. Other survivors' memories and emotions haunt me. They invade my mind until I can no longer separate them from my own. I won't let them consume me. I can't. My name is Zoe Cartwright, I'm twenty-six-years-old, and I survived The Ending.
We've been inseparable for most of our lives, and now our friendship is all we have left. The aftermath of the Virus has stranded us on opposite sides of the United States. Trusting strangers, making sacrifices, killing-we'll do anything to reach one another. Fear and pain may be unavoidable, but we're strong…we're survivors. But to continue surviving in this unfamiliar world plagued by Crazies and strange new abilities, we have to adapt. We have to evolve.

EXCERPT

Looking around apprehensively, I made my way toward the convenience store in hopes of finding a bathroom. The vacant world around me was eerily silent. All I could hear was the creaking of a giant wooden billboard being assaulted by the wind. How long has it been since anyone was here? Through the dark windows I saw a bathroom sign that looked promising, but I couldn't bring myself to enter. I wonder if it's safe…

As I stood outside of the store, I noticed a newspaper box still filled with papers. I leaned closer. The headline read, BILLIONS DEAD, and the paper was dated December 9, right before everything had started to shut down. I inserted a quarter and snatched out a paper. Scanning its contents, my mouth grew dry and my body stiffened.

…the H1N1/12 pandemic…
…looting and riotous outbreaks everywhere…
…end of civilization as we know it…
…survivors losing their minds…
…governments can't control…
…the Apocalypse…

The newspaper slipped from between my fingers. Frozen in place, I was suffocated by the reality of our situation.
This isn't going away.
The world ended. Thinking of the strange feelings I'd been experiencing, I once again questioned my own sanity. My thoughts were too loud to silence. My heart thudded, and I couldn't swallow the lump in my throat. Looking out into the abandoned world around me, I realized how alone we really were. I bent down to reclaim the paper and turned on my heels to head back toward the truck, completely awestruck as the words I'd read replayed in my mind. Each was a reminder that the only world I'd ever known had ended.

Author Bio:

Lindsey Fairleigh lives her life with one foot in a book-as long as that book transports her to a magical world or bends the rules of science. Her novels, from post-apocalyptic to time travel and historical fantasy, always offer up a hearty dose of unreality, along with plenty of adventure and romance. When she's not working on her next novel, Lindsey spends her time reading and trying out new recipes in the kitchen. She lives in the Napa Valley with her loving husband and confused cats.
Lindsey Pogue has always been a little creative. As a child she established a bug hospital on her elementary school soccer field, compiled books of collages as a teenager, and as an adult, expresses herself through writing. Her novels are inspired by her observations of the world around her-whether she's traveling, people watching, or hiking. When not plotting her next storyline or dreaming up new, brooding characters, Lindsey's wrapped in blankets watching her favorite action flicks or going on road trips with her own leading man.

Guest Blog

Hi Everyone! I'm M.M. Shelley and I'd like to give a BIG thanks to Nancy for having me on her blog today so that I can share my novella:

The Zombie Story

My story is about Magick and Zombies, a little different take on the Zombie genre and follows the adventures of Orlando as he arrives in a new city.

Elodie Juarez is a free spirit, she does what she wants without worrying about how it might look to others; yet she is all heart. She is Ruben's younger sister. Their parents died, leaving them orphans and alone.

Elodie is well aware of the sacrifices her brother has made in order to keep them together. Although she has made her own sacrifices; she internalizes everything in order to keep things from her brother. She is a genius with numbers and knows how to handle herself with a computer.

She has the habit of following her brother when she wants to know what he is really up to and it's how she learns that Ruben has become involved with underground fighting in order to make money. She has done her part selling essays online and assisting the occasional customer in need of her computer expertise for a little extra cash.

She sees Orlando as a kindred spirit and takes it upon herself to help him with what she can while simultaneously keeping the peace between Orlando and Ruben who are always challenging each other.

Elodie is considered a misfit at school, but that doesn't bother her. She knows that without her help and skills many of her classmates would meet a tragic death at the hands of those who are using outcast and lost souls for experiments which in turn are creating zombies and other creatures of the night.

Thanks again for hosting this stop on my tour! You can find me over at my blog; mmshelley.blogspot.com or on twitter @MM_Shelley

Review

The following review is my opinion and not a paid review. I was given a free copy of the book from the author for my honest opinion.

I love reading books that are about zombies. So when I read the title of the book, The Zombie Story I was like fantastic a zombie book, oh yeah! I knew it would be a great read, no doubt about it. Then I read the summary and it said Orlando was a zombie hunter. I thought zombie hunter, ummm wonder what this entails? I couldn't wait to find out. And you know what? I was not disappointed. Why? Because I loved it with the new and exciting twist on the zombies. It is not the end of the world. The world is still there and I know Orlando hopes it stays that way.

Orlando has just moved to Los Angeles from out west. Now Orlando is not thrilled about having to move but what choice did he have in the matter. When his parents said we're moving, well that was it they were moving weather he liked it or not.

On Orlando first day in his new home alone he sees a man kill another man. He just shot him in cold blood as far as Orlando knew. Shoots him right out in the middle of the street in broad open daylight as they say. But the thing is Orlando is the only one who saw or heard it. What is going on here? Why did the man kill him? Why did no one besides Orlando see a man commit murder? Or was it murder?

Later that night his grandfather introduces him to a man by the name of Maxwell, a friend of his grandfathers who is a zombie hunter. His grandfather informs him that now he is a zombie hunter and will be starting his training real soon.

Orlando lives in a world where most of the people have magick abilities. Everyone is tested to find out what level their abilities are on. What level or how powerful their magick is determines which high school they will attend. What level is Orlando's magick on? Will he score high on the test? Or not?

Do you like reading a good zombie story with a little magick thrown in then I believe that you would love The Zombie Story. Why don't you head on over to Amazon right now and pick up your own copy? Hey it is currently free for your Kindle.
