CHAPTER ONE

Hampton, TX, Present Day

Not five minutes in this backwater town and I had a demon sniffing my trail. He scanned the room with the nostrils of his wide nose flaring. His hair lay plastered against his forehead in greasy brown locks. He towered over everyone, even the people standing, as he squeezed between the large round tables and the gathering at the bar. The frayed threads of his jeans and his leather vest matched the dress of the rest of the roadhouse.

I lifted my drink to my mouth and shifted to my second sight. Most people say the eyes are the windows to the soul. Those people can’t see auras. The lights on the walls dimmed, and the air took on a gray haze, like seeing things under water. Colors bloomed out from each human in the building, blending together in a rainbow. The demon was another matter.

The shaggy black dog the size of a pony stood semi-imposed on all fours over the form of the man. Flames blazed from its eyes as it scanned the room. Was there really a dog walking through a busy Texas bar? No. Demons had no corporeal form and had to possess physical bodies. This one chose a werewolf. Dio, I had a hellhound on my ass.

Talk about bad timing. Ose already had some of his minions patrolling. If it found me, it would go running to its master to let him know I was in town. My hunt was in danger of ending before it even started.

Breathe, Gabby.

I leaned forward and let my black curtain of hair obscure my face. The lid of the salt shaker twisted off in my empty hand and I knocked it over, allowing the grains to spill on the floor. The salt should cover my scent. I slid closer to the group at the next table until I looked like I belonged with them.

One of the men grinned at me, his aura a happy yellow orange. “Hey babe.”

I nodded and raised my glass, but kept my gaze on the hellhound. He paused at a man at the bar who had caught my attention, or more his aura did. A ghostly image of a woman leaned over him, whispering in his ear. My hand tightened around the beer mug, but the mutt moved on. I relaxed. The colors around the people in the bar faded, as did the ghost woman when my sight returned to normal. The haze remained, more from cigarette smoke. I turned my head to the front of the bar. One window and one door were not much of an escape route. Fifty feet of inebriated patrons stood between me and freedom.

Two of the three men I had been waiting for walked through the door. A familiar tingle ran down my spine. For a moment, I flashed back to a dressing room, staring down another Romanian hunter. We’d come across the same prey, though he thought it was a vampire. I inhaled, bringing myself back to the present. This wasn’t the twenties, I wasn’t in Paris, and these brothers weren’t Dimitri.

Both had his chiseled features and his straight nose, though their hair was more of a burnt sienna. The one in front wore his cut short and had a tuft on his chin. He towered over his brother, which meant he would be a mountain compared to my small height. The other kept his hair tucked behind his ears. He stood with his arms crossed, wearing a smirk to let the world know he knew everything.

They cast their eyes over the room. The tall one adjusted the glasses on his face and approached the man sitting at the bar. Several women watched them as they passed. A smile touched my lips. The boys knew how to dress to make an impression. Their leather coats and slacks spoke of sophistication yet still provided enough flexibility to move if needed.

I stood and nodded at the boys who’d been trying to talk to me. Rude, but it was time to work. Besides, they were too young for me. I straightened my red tank top and brushed any wrinkles from my jeans. I couldn’t approach them looking like a guttersnipe. A stool opened up on the other side of them. I took the seat and tried to look casual while listening in on the brothers’ conversation. The bartender stood in front of me, waiting for an order.

I pointed to a beer and leaned back to get a better look at the third man. His back remained mostly to me, giving me a glimpse of his bearded cheek and a ponytail a shade darker in color than the other two. Brother number three. I inched forward to hear better over someone’s bad rendition of “Bad Moon Rising.”

“Ader.” The tall man spoke in Romanian. “Your prison sentence hasn’t ended yet.”

“I got out for being brilliant,” the man at the bar said without turning around.

“Does the warden know that?” the third one asked.

If I remembered correctly, this generation of Van Helsings had four boys. Adam, the oldest, had passed away ten years ago. So that left Esais, Adrian, and Tres. The smirking boy had to be Tres he looked the youngest. Was Ader short for Adrian?

Ader chuckled. “The warden didn’t have much of a say.”

Esais, the tall one, pinched the bridge of his nose and closed his eyes. He shook his head, letting out a long sigh as he looked at his brothers.

“Honestly,” he said. “First you end up in jail, and now you’re breaking out. You haven’t changed.”

“You expected me to?” Adrian asked.

"Why are you here?” Esais asked.

“Same reason as you. Revenge.”

Tres crossed his arms. “Why do you even care? You were never around when we needed you.”

Adrian turned to face his brothers, causing both of them to gasp. A patch covered his right eye while the other stared hard at Tres. Esais reached out to touch Adrian’s arm, but he pulled away.

“What happened?” Esais asked.

“Not important.” Adrian turned back to the bar. “Who were you told to meet?”

“A woman named Gabriella Di Luca.”

“Any idea what this woman looks like?”

Esais glanced in my direction with hesitation and opened his mouth.

I cleared my throat, raising my hand in a small wave. “Buna seara.”

Adrian and Tres turned their heads with near identical expressions of distrust. They didn’t expect someone to speak their native language here. I was a stranger invading their family circle.

“Who are you?” Adrian asked.

“Gabriella.”

“Convenient.” The word dripped with sarcasm.

We didn’t have time for this. The hairs on the back of my neck stood up. My gaze traveled to the table-filled area further in the room. The hellhound’s wiry form had disappeared through a large door to the right. The atrocious singing wafted through there. This would be a perfect time to exit.

“We need to speak, but not here,” I said.

“We’re not going anywhere with you.”

“Ader,” Esais said.

Adrian looked back at his brother. “We have no proof she is who she claims to be.”

“He’s right. You could be a demon,” Tres said.

“Then you already revealed yourselves with your conversation,” I said. “Look, how much do you know of demons?”

“I’ve read several books on the subject,” Esais said. “That question doesn’t answer our doubts.”

“Do I fit the description you were given?”

Esais adjusted his glasses before nodding.

“Then, can we leave? I may not be one, but there is a demon here.”

Two turned their heads, their muscles tensing as they scanned the bar while Adrian kept his eye on me. The hellhound stepped back into the room and turned his head in my direction. His gaze locked on me, and he began shoving his way through the crowded tables and chairs.

I stood. “Too late.”

CHARACTER INTERVIEW

With Gabby

From

A Prescription for Delirium

Thank you for joining us.

*Gabby smiles.*The pleasure is all mine.

Can you tell us a little about the city and time you grew up in?

I was born in the Kingdom of Naples in 1507. Italia was not a county when I was born, so Naples was its own kingdom at one time. Though, while I was growing up, The Spanish controlled it.

What was your family like?

Busy. My father was a fisherman who spent days out on sea. My mother was a herbalist, you could say. She saved many lives with her potions. The church would have accused her of witchcraft, but she never did anything to hurt anyone. They were very good to marry. Later I married and had a child of my own. Though, that didn't end well.

You have been all over the world. Is there any place you'd like to go back to?

There are so many places filled with beauty if you stop to look. I guess I would like to return to paris one day. See what has changed.

Have you ever been in love?

*looks down at her hands and laughs* Yes. Twice, in fact. I loved my husband, Dario very much, though it was a love of youth and innocence, before I knew of the evil of the world. My second love was Dimitri Van Helsing. We met while both hunting the same creature, though he mistakenly thought it was a vampire. *chuckles* Still, he stayed until the hunt was complete and we grew close. I'd forgotten how it felt to grow close to someone…*blinks and clears her throat* but it wasn't meant to be in the end.

So, what do you think of the Van Helsing brothers?

*laughs* Esais is the easiest to get along with, he tries his hardest to see the best in people. Tres is like a little brother I have to look out for. And well, Adrian is an arrogant ass. He tends to get my blood boiling.

In A Prescription for Delirium, you like using blades. Is there a fighting style that goes along with that?

Escrima, or Kali, or Arnis, depending on where you learn from. It a Filipino martial arts. Most know it as stick fighting, but I learned it before they started using sticks as the main form of weaponry. It's actually pretty balanced and allows you to use whatever you have on hand as weapon.

Which living person do you most despise?

She's not a person per say, a demon actually. Her name is Allegra and she cost me dearly.

Is there any way that the two of you can reconcile?

Not at all. I will see her dead.

Are you religious?

I believe in God, but I wouldn't be what you call religious. Organized religion was created by man and inherently flawed, yet most spout their ways as the only way.

Do you have any regrets?

Thousands. They build up over the years. I wish I hadn't found out about Allegra. I wish I'd been better at banishing demons when my mentor died. But, I can't dwell on them. I can only move forward.

MY REVIEW

A Prescription for Delirium

The following review is my opinion and not a paid review. I was received a free copy of the book from the author for my honest opinion.

Gabriella di Luca, aka Gabby is a demon hunter who can also perform exorcisms plus she can hold her own in a fight against a demon or human. Gabby made a promise years ago to take care of her lover Dimitri's family. And years later she has found herself in Hampton, Tx. where her lovers three great-grandsons the Van Helsing brothers, Esais, Adrian and Tres live. The demon Ose has found them and will kill them if Gabby can't stop him. Gabby has her own demons to fight as well the demons that haunt her heart, she failed years ago to save Dimiti's son. Gabby failed once and has no intentions of doing it again. She will protect these three brothers with her life. Although Gabby is human and has lived for hundreds of years.

The Van Helsing brothers are all very different from each other with their own secrets and paranormal abilities. They hunt demons as well and when Gabby shows up they are not sure that she can be trusted. Well I think Adrian is the only one who doesn't actually trust her but again I don't think he trusts or likes anyone very much. Adrian is more dark, harsh and unyielding type of person who believes he doesn't owe anyone any favors and definitely does not except any in return. He had rather be off in his lab all by himself. But I think Gabby starts to grow on him and hopefully gets him to open up some. She knows he is not as bad as he seems and underneath that entire stern exterior he probably has a soft heat.

And now let's meet Marguerite Devereux aka Marge who is a demon ass kicking chic who leaves no one alive. All she wants to do is kick some demon ass no matter what the demon did. She will probably get herself killed or demon processed with her attitude one day. Unless she learns to listen to Gabby and what she is trying to teach her. Marge is hunting the demon that has a contract on her head. She has had a very hard life with everything that has been done to her by her own mother no less. Sometimes when someone is hurt or done wrong by their mother it can make a person very hard on life and their self. So I think hunting down demons and killing them helps her deal with the hurt her mother caused her. While at the same time helps her to hide behind the hurt and pretend that it doesn't exist. I think she is a good person and Gabby sees and knows this. Gabby knows she just needs someone to tell her what to do sometimes to show that they care about her. I guess maybe this is what is known as hard love. Maybe in the next books Gabby can break through her hard exterior and let her know that someone can love and care about her. Maybe Marge can learn that it is ok to love and care about people and not everyone in the world is cruel and evil.

A Prescription for Delirium was a real page turner one that I did not want to put down. I love all the characters especially Gabby, Marge and Adrian. I think they were the toughest ones in the whole book. The others were also in their own way. But you know everyone has their own thing that they are good at. Everybody can't be good at the same thing. I mean if they were they would be a lot of things that we would have to live without. Each one has strength in what they can do. Gabby and Marge is a real couple of kick ass heroines. So if you like a good story with a couple of kick as heroines that also has demons, werewolves and a whole lot of fighting going on then I think you would love A Prescription for Delirium.

The raucous wails intensified and the crunch of tires entering her private drive grew louder. Amara pressed on, breaking through the foliage into her large back yard to see uniformed officers walking the perimeter of her house.

"Excuse me?" Amara padded across her back yard, aware of her nudity and one enforcement officer leering at her. The other looked uncomfortable. Humans. Why do they find nudity unacceptable, since everyone born into the world came without clothes? How she hated the restricting fibers and longed to live in nothing but her skin. Maybe a blanket for times when the cold bit into her, chilling her to the bone.

"Ma'am, your alarm system activated. We called and no one answered. Are you harmed?"

"No, not at all." She crossed her arms under her breasts. Their eyes roved over her and the one speaking seemed to lose his voice. They appeared confused as to why she paraded around like she did.

"Sir, the house is clear."

"I'm sure it was just a false alarm." Amara whipped her head to the left, addressing the female officer entering through her veranda doors.

"Are you certain? We found your front door wide open when we pulled up the drive. The perpetrator may still be in the area. Ma'am, would you mind putting on some clothes?"

Of course there wasn't an intruder in the house; she'd feel the presence. She weighed the probability of Mari forgetting to lock up behind herself. No other lingering scents clung in the air. No dark aura. Seething in anger at her girlfriend's lack of awareness, she stalked to her door, leaving the officers to follow her indoors. "I do mind dressing on my own property. I like being naked-"

"Still, ma'am…talking to you'd be a lot easier if you wore clothing."

"For fuck's sake." Amara glared at the unwanted guests.

"She'll put on some clothes if I have to drag her to her room myself and dress her." Gavin's authoritative voice entered into the standoff.

"I will not. This is my place. If they don't like my appearance they can leave." Amara whipped around and stared down Gavin's steel wall of unwanted authority. "What are you doing here?" She'd never seen the man anywhere but at The Delightful Kitty. In his cargo pants and T-shirt, he looked damn good standing in her house.

"Heard the call on my scanner. Wanted to check on you and Mari. Go put on some clothes, babe. I'll keep the five-oh company."

Amara opened her mouth to speak and switched outlets.

How do you know where I live?

Drake told me. Now go put on some clothes. Though I don't mind staring at you, not one bit.

Caressed by a Crimson Moon

Consumed by madness and tormented by dark memories of blood and death, Hadrian Lucretius, King of the Validus Clan, has returned after living in self-imposed exile for nearly three hundred and fifty years.

To maintain peace with the vampires, Eva Maldonado is offered as a sacrifice to the crazed vampire king by her father, the alpha of the Silveria Shifter Pack. Hadrian's reputation is both legendary and lethal; he is ruthless, bloodthirsty, lusty, and soulless. When Eva arrives at the ancient fortress high in the Carpathian Mountains, she is shocked to find a ravaged man with dark burning eyes filled with loneliness and dangerous desire.

Would she be his lover…or his prey? His savior…or his victim? Would Hadrian lure her into madness or would their perilous passion be their redemption?

EXTENDED EXCERPT

Caressed by a Crimson Moon

An odd sensation compelled her to turn right. She walked along the wall of the castle and continued around until she came to a terrace. The furniture was covered with tarps weighted down by snow. Coming to the edge, she was shocked by what she could see. Below was a large hedge made labyrinth, with a building of glace at its center and a lake, frosted over by ice, towards the back. The land was flat and stretched for miles a village of cottages huddle together against the line of trees that extended for miles and ended at a cliff.

She quickly descended the steps from the terrace and paused when she came to the entrance of the labyrinth. Should she enter? Did she dare? Again, an odd feeling swept over her. Not one of fear but of excitement. Confusion clouded her mind while instinct compelled her forward.

Eva slowly wound through the maze, using her photographic memory to find its center. She was almost certain the glass building was a green house and she was anxious to see what kind of tropical plants would be living such fragile lives in these unforgiving mountains.

Her steps faltered as she came to a bend. The hair on the back of her neck stood on end.

She was not alone.

Eva froze and strained her senses. Her hearing and eyesight was slightly better than a human's but nothing compared to a full shifter or-she swallowed hard-a vampire. Unable to detect anything, she slowly crept forward. Placing her back against the twelve-foot tall hedge wall, she peeked around the corner.

A man sat on a white marble bench, his elbows resting on his knees, his head hung low. She could only see his perfectly hard profile and her heart skipped a beat as her breath caught. High, bold cheekbones and a straight, stern jaw descended to thin, yet enticing lips. His hair was black and buzzed in an extremely short military fashion. To her disappointment, his eyes were closed, but she knew they would be intense. He was dressed in all black, a stark contrast to the white that surrounded him.

Raw power radiated from him. He was pure unadulterated male. Lethal. She knew instinctively this vampire was the crazed king, Hadrian Lucretius. The man-no, the beast that had ensnared her in the hall.

His eyes remained closed as his lips pulled back from his long, white fangs tinted with red.

Blood.

She knew she ought to be horrified but as before…he was making her lust. Her body was hot and heavy, her breathing came in soft gasps, and heat spiraled through her core as she recalled the feel of his powerful body looming over her.

"I know you're there." His voice was deep and heavily accented though his style of speech was modern. He spoke again, but she did not comprehend his words. She closed her eyes and savored his voice. Dark. Seductive. She shivered, not from cold, but from pleasure.

Nothing made sense. She knew her reaction was insane. She knew she should be terrified and run as fast as she could back to the castle and the safety of her room. But, she could not bring herself to leave, nor did she want to run. Her heart stuttered at the thought of him chasing her and something wild deep within her roared to life.

In a rush of movement, she was pulled forward and spun about. Her back slammed against the hedge, a cool, strong hand wrapped about her throat. Her cry of shock quickly faded to a gasp of delight. He stood before her, pinning her to the hedge. Her senses flared, taking in his fresh scent. He smelled of pine, wilderness, and male. His eyes gazed deeply into hers as if searching for her very soul. They were fathomless, obsidian pools that swirled with malice, grief, and…desire.

Her heart thundered in her ears as her lips parted, drawing in rapid breaths, filling her lungs with his irresistible scent. Again, she wondered at her response, but lust clouded her mind, blocking all rational thought.

She dropped her gaze to his broad shoulders and chest, which were covered only by a short-sleeved black shirt. Her fingers twitched at the thought of running her hands over the hard muscle. He was lean, solidly built, and tall, clearly over six feet.

He crowded her. Trapping her.

She loved it.

Hadrian's gaze focused on her pulse. Eva's heart beat wildly, teasing him. His fangs felt heavy in his mouth and they ached to pierce her slender throat.

The run had helped him immensely, driving away those hateful memories. He thanked God he had recovered before his ward had stumbled upon him in the labyrinth. The memories always left his mind tainted.

Blood.

He had wanted blood. No. Needed blood. Death. Yes, he had craved to taste death, to savor it. He had hunted in the forest and fed from a rabbit. It's tangy blood and tiny life had brought him precious little relief. It was enough. It would keep him from tearing her throat open and gorging himself on the sweet elixir.

She would be spicy, exotic, and oh, so hot.

He ran his tongue over his fangs and Eva sighed. The scent of her desire grew stronger. He took in a deep breath and shuddered. Intoxicating. His erection strained against his pants as heat consumed him. He wanted to teleport her to his bed, feel her soft body beneath him, her hips rocking with his as he claimed her, filled her. Her lust sang to him like a siren's song and fired his icy blood.

"We meet again, little one." He brushed the elegant column of her throat with his thumb, pausing over her pulse with every stroke. "I did not expect it would be so soon."

Hadrian kept his hand on her neck as he stepped back to appraise his prey. He had known she was small, but his mind had been completely consumed with lust and hunger earlier to focus on detail. She was barely over five feet and slight of frame. Fragile. He could snap the poor girl; easily break her like a doll. He eased the pressure on her neck at the thought. Her face was delicate with almond shaped eyes that were down caste, concealing their color. She also had well defined cheekbones and stubborn chin. Her luscious, pouting lips were peach in color. Hadrian shivered as he imagined their taste. He could not remember the last time he had felt another's lips pressed against his. Never had he kissed the women he took to his bed…not since he had been a mortal man, not since his wife. But damn, her mouth was tempting.

He dropped his gaze to her body. She was tightly bundled in a thick jacket, the blue a perfect complement to her smooth sun kissed skin. Her dark brown hair was pulled back and fastened in a braid that came to her hips. He resisted the urge of freeing her locks, having the absurd desire to run his fingers through her hair.

He released her throat to press his hands to the hedge on either side of her head. Her gaze met his and Hadrian bit back a curse. Amber. Pure, amber stared back at him. Not yellow, as he thought before when he had found her in the hall.

Stunning.

For an instant, his gaze grew sharp. Eva tried to look away, but his hand caught her chin and forced her to face him.

"Look at me, little one."

She raised her hands, intending to shove him away, like she knew she should. This was wrong. He was a vampire. No, he was a crazed vampire king and she was, well, a lowly half-breed, who was also his ward. Nothing could happen between them. As if I would want something to happen between us, she told herself.

His thumb brushed over her bottom lip, the caress was simple and yet completely erotic. He sank his body into hers and Eva lost her breath. .

Hadrian slipped his hand down her neck to her nape; his fingers began to play with the stay strands of hair that had escaped her braid. His ravenous gaze roamed her body. Despite the bulkiness of her jacket, he could feel her generous curves. The blue material covering her chest strained ever so slightly against her breasts as her hips cradled his, her stomach was flat and soft against his painful erection.

"Shall we continue what we started in the hall?"

Eva swallowed hard as she thought, Oh, God, yes!

His finger danced over her shoulder and her chest to the zipper of her jacket. She watched as he slowly drew it down, heat coiled in her core.

Eva couldn't think. She couldn't move. The heat of his strong hands burned through the thin material of her pajama tank top as he spanned her waist. She did not notice the cold but shivered in anticipation. His fingers slowly slid up her sides and paused at her ribs, just below her aching breasts. She arched her back and he hissed.

"Terror," Hadrian whispered. "You should be feeling terror."

Eva squeaked in response, unable to speak.

He leaned his head down, his breath brushed along the sensitive flesh of her throat.

"You should run," he said. Would I let her escape? Yes, he would. He would use what remained of his will to remain still as she raced through the labyrinth. He should set her from him and demand that she go.

All Eva could do was nod. She knew he was right. She should be screaming. She should be praying that Falcon would come to her rescue. This dark vampire had her trapped. Hadrian, the mad king, had her at his mercy. She tried to remember the evil rumors, hoping they might be able to draw her back into reality. Nothing came. All she could think about was how much she wanted to feel his hands on her body, hips lips against her skin and his-

"Touch me," Eva gasped. Desire controlled her mind as lust gripped her body.

His black gaze jumped with dangerous delight. He spun her about, forcing her back against his chest, his hands gripping her hips as he pressed her front towards the hedge.

Heaven help her, a bolt of treacherous excitement ran down her spine to curl her toes. She pressed her hips back and groaned at the feel of his hard cock against her ass.

"Do you know who I am?" he asked, his lips brushing her ear.

"Y-yes."

"Who?" His demand was rough and, God, she loved the anger that laced his voiced. On some level, she knew she must be losing her mind to desire this vampire. She did not care. She wanted him. Now. Primal, sexual need coursed through her in sweet agonizing pulsating waves.

"H-Hadrian Lu-Lucretius," she answered.

Eva cried out in surprised pleasure as he slowly scraped his fangs drew his tongue over her rapidly beating pulse. She tilted her head to the side, giving him better access to her neck.

This was crazy, she should be begging him not to bite her, not panting for his touch. All her life she had been told a vampire's bite was ruthless and excruciatingly painful, something to be avoided at all costs. But she wanted this.

She frowned as she tried to analyze her reaction. She should be fighting him with every ounce of her strength. Instead she was aching with lust.

His tongue caressed her neck and her thoughts scattered. Her head lolled back against his chest.

Eva began to wriggle beneath his hold. She wanted to see him, to kiss his lips. It felt like an eternity since the last time she had been kissed. What would his fangs feel? Would the cut her? Something dark and wild in her roared at the thought. She tried to turn, but he kept her pined.

"You crave." His fingers dug into her hips as he rubbed her against his shaft. He dipped his face down into the crook of her neck and took in a deep breath. She shuttered. He inhaled in her scent, like an animal, like the beast that he was and it thrilled her. "I can scent your need."

She boldly covered his hands with her own and he allowed her slide their hands over her flat belly to her breasts. She moaned when gave a gentle squeeze. Her breasts were bare beneath her tank top and she hated the thin material for being in the way. She wanted to feel his palms against her hard nipples.

"Wild," Hadrian breathed.

She sighed and began to adulate her hips against him. He bit back a curse as fire spread through his veins.

Take her.

His fangs grew even longer, his nails lengthened to claws as his cock swelled. His eyes flicked from her breasts to her pulse and back. The vampire within him howled as he thought of pushing her jeans down, revealing her sex. She would be so hot, so wet. He could tell by her scent she was ready. He could drive into her as he pierced her flesh and drank deep.

Take her.

Eva reached up to circle her arms about his neck-

She stumbled into the hedge. Whirling around she saw…nothing. He was gone. The snow was undisturbed, with the exception of her footprints.

The absents of his body left her vulnerable to the cold and she quickly zipped her jacket. She shook her head, trying to dislodge the sensual haze that clouded her thoughts.

Her neck tingled and Eva hesitantly raised her hand, her fingers met smooth skin. He had not bitten her. Her cheeks flooded with heat. She had wanted him to sink his fangs deep within her. Her blush grew even darker as clarity began to set in. She had freely offered herself to him, mind, body, and…blood. She had been his for the taking.

So why hadn't he claimed what she had clearly offered?

MY REVIEW

Seduced by Power

The following review is my opinion and not a paid review. I received a free copy of the book from the author for my honest opinion.

Rose is still trying to find a way to defeat her mother, Rainbow and to take back the rose bush that she stole from Derek's family. Not only does she have to worry with her mother she is also trying to find a way to get Derek's brother Dean's soul back at the same time.

When Rose and Derek are having sex Rose has to feel pain so that she won't send Derek's soul to hell also. But the pain is not enough anymore and she sends Derek's soul to hell as well. Rose's heart is broken over the fact that she has hurt the one that she loves. Rose is a very sweet and loving person and would never do anything to cause harm or hurt to anyone. Unless they are like her mother who does evil things to human beings then she will do what she has to, to stop them from hurting others. So now Rose has to find a way to save them all. Can she or will she be able to do what is necessary to save them? Is her heart that good?

While trying to save Derek and Dean Rose meets her farther and finds out who his is and also what he is a demon. Rose will have to go to hell herself to save Derek and Dean. She meets a demon in hell who helps her get their souls back. But she has to make a choice that could mean she will loose her life. Is she strong enough of a person to make this choice?

The demon Blake has fallen in love with Rose and although he is a demon he helps Rose knowing how she feels about him and also knowing that he can never be with her. In the beginning I really didn't care much for the demon Blake as with most demons he was out to help only himself but in the end he turned out to have a very good heart.

I have truly enjoyed reading all three of the Seduced Saga books. If asked which one I liked the best I could not say as I loved them all. And I highly recommend that you read all three but I do suggest that you start with book #1 Seduced by Innocents and then book #2 Seduced by Pain. I cannot wait to read the next two books in the series Seduced by Love (A Surprise Seduced Book) and Seduced by the Sea (Ocean's Story) although they are not about Rose.

I have loved the Seduced Saga so much that I plan on reading The Forbidden Trilogy by Kimberly Kinrade. I have found myself another favorite author.

Graduating from college is easy when compared to the effort of getting hired after graduation. Once hired, maintaining your professionalism and managing your finances can be challenging. Journey after School seeks to provide guidance for new graduates. Like the syllabus provided by a professor at the beginning of a semester, Journey after School is a brief, easy read.

Excerpt 1-

You've proven you have the skills, experience, and personality to join the company. From the first day on the job, you have to perform and do it professionally. For young professionals, a challenge will be proving that you are capable of performing the job. You are no longer in college and should not give your colleagues the impression that you are a student.

Appearances are important, and just like at your interview, you should wear appropriate attire to work. The business attire you wore to the interview may not be required for your office; therefore, it is important to ask your recruiter or hiring manager about the dress code. As you begin working, you can observe your colleagues and determine how formal or casual they dress.

In school, classes had a defined schedule, but in your career, you may not have a specific schedule. Many employers expect that you will be at work at a reasonable time and do all of your hours for the day. If you have the luxury of choosing your own schedule, be mindful of your company's core business hours. Typically, the core hours
are defined between a start and finish time like 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. If your schedule is predefined, be sure you are punctual. You are not expected to work non-stop when you arrive at work, but you should minimize your downtime. When you are away from your workstation for an extended period of time, you should inform someone that you will be away. Your colleagues should not have to search for you and should never question whether you have actually worked all of your scheduled hours.

BOOK DESCRIPTION
Rapture

The Rapture has occurred - the end of the world. The faithful have risen up to Heaven. Those left behind are in a living hell. Armed only with his swords and his wit, a teenage boy wanders this post-apocalyptic world alone, separated forever from everyone he loves. Cursed by his demonic heritage, he must now embark on a quest that will take him across the US to the City of Angels.

EXCERPT
Rapture

As soon as this thought entered his mind, it was interrupted by a demonic presence to his left. A cluster of Lemure surged out of what had once been the local coffee house, screaming as they advanced. Sam sprinted around a wrecked SUV to give himself some breathing room, drawing both swords.

He swung around to his left, still at full stretch. Whether by good luck or by displaying a higher than usual level of intelligence, three of the Lemure hadn't fallen for the ploy. They met him on the other side of the SUV, running as hard as he was. Sam didn't even pause. He struck high then low and spun around to deliver a double blow to the third Lemure. All three turned to ash in his wake.

He kept sprinting, skirting around the wrecks in the middle of Main Street, heading east. It was opposite to the direction he wanted to head in but he would double back later in order to confuse his pursuers.

Sensing that the demons were falling behind, Sam slowed to a fast jog. He could keep this pace up for hours if he needed to. Before the Rapture, he had often run into the Rockies and back before the sun had even snuck up over the horizon. Night-time was when he always trained, away from prying eyes. He always felt stronger in the dark. Hikari had told him that his night vision was much better than any other humans, something he had suspected when he realized he could see almost perfectly in all but the most absolute darkness.

It was just as well because now the only light came from the moon, which was hardly a great source of illumination. Normally, street lights, the frontages of residential homes, the odd shop open for a late night and the occasional car would provide ample light for the average resident. It was odd running through the small town like this, guided only by the malevolent red glow from above.

Disturbingly, despite his injuries, Sam felt even stronger right at that moment, almost as if the moon was energizing him. He looked up, hoping to catch a glimpse of a star in the now cloudless sky. There were none. Had been none since the Rapture. The stars, once beautiful and sparkling in the clear country air, had all fallen. Where they had landed, Sam had no idea. He just knew that they weren't in the sky anymore.

Suddenly a shadow fell across the moon, a strong wind buffeting him from above. He'd sensed the presence of the Astaroth but he was far, far too late. Too late and too slow. Cursing himself for his lack of concentration, Sam attempted to roll but felt something lift him off his feet with a powerful jolt. It was the Astaroth alright. Clearly, those wings weren't for show, he thought wryly as the Astaroth slowly gained height. Luck had been on his side though. Instead of those mighty talons piercing his skin, they had merely jagged his backpack.

Then Sam remembered what were in his hands. What had been in his hands all the way down Main Street. His swords. He swept both up at the same time, each aiming for a different leg, and felt a savage surge of satisfaction as the iron weapons both connected and bit deeply. The Astaroth roared so loudly that, if Sam had been able to, he would've covered his ears.

Instead, he found himself falling. Surprisingly quickly. He thought, rather belatedly, that he hadn't actually planned this out very carefully.

The ground rushed up to meet him.

GUEST BLOG
Pet peeves of the publishing industry

In the course of my writing career, I've had almost 50 books published by mainstream publishers. Publishers include Penguin, Macmillan, Pearson, Oxford University Press and Cengage. These, admittedly, are mostly educational books for children and books to help teachers teach the writing process.

In terms of my commercial fiction, I've recently become an indie writer. My Rapture Trilogy was published by Pear Jam books, a small publisher based in New Zealand. I got my rights back in January, 2013 and decided to go Indie because of the trouble a small publisher faces in terms of distribution. They struggle to get their books in mainstream bookstores. Many of these bookstores are reluctant to take on stock not produced by a major publisher.

Not only that, but my books are difficult to buy in print where they need to be - the U.S. The Rapture Trilogy is set in the States and I believe the content appeals more to American audiences than any other. It's also difficult to get reviews in popular review spots such as newspapers, magazines etc. I had many reviews by bloggers and in all fairness, bloggers target my demographic much better. It's a fantastic way to get word out to potential readers. But still - it would be nice to see my books in the review pages in the Sunday papers.

There are so many good books out there by small presses and indie authors but many people have never heard of them. I believe the industry is changing however - for the better. Indie and self published authors have a lot more control now, especially with the advent of the e-book and the ability of these authors to sell their books on-line. Mainstream review sources are starting to sit up and take notice but it's still very difficult. Kirkus, for instance, offers a review service for Indie authors but it'll cost you. From memory, I think it costs around $500 for a Kirkus review. I know it's impractical for them to review every book but it would be nice if they offered the same free service they offer to mainstream publications. Perhaps when a book has received enough attention, Kirkus could produce a free review. Maybe the criteria could be a certain amount of reviews from bloggers or a certain amount of ratings from sites like Goodreads. Food for thought.

Regardless, I have fully embraced my Indie status and I'm looking forward to publishing my next few books myself. With Apocalypse, I will have five novels available as e-books. I've got one chapter book that I want to put up as well as two picture books. In addition, I'm currently working on my sixth novel. It's going to be a busy year!

MY REVIEW
Rapture

After reading the Left Behind Series I kept thinking that there would be a lot of people who would be very disappointed when the Rapture came and the world ended. There would be a lot of people who would be asking why they were not taken? People that went to church every time the doors were open. They would be thinking they believed with all their heart but undoubtedly they didn't really believe. And when reading Rapture I couldn't help but think the same thing. At first people were disoriented, out of their heads wondering where their whole family had gone, they couldn't find them anywhere. If they weren't taken by the demons then after a while the people in Rapture probably began to think the same things.

But Sam our main character in Rapture knew that he would not be taken in the Rapture. Why? Because Sam is half-human/half-demon. Sam's mother left him with her friend to protect and raise Sam. To teach Sam what he needed to know and what he had to do when the Rapture came. Sam was disappointed and upset when he learns that he would not be able to go to heaven with the man that raised him and his daughter Aimi whom Sam feel in love with. Sam was not allowed to go to school with Aimi because of who and what he was. His guardian home schooled him to protect him from all the kids at school. Kids and teenagers can be very mean about things that they know nothing about or don't understand. So the only friend or person that he really ever knew was Aimi. But Aimi was a very sweet and nice person and loved Sam very much. She supported him in everything and always reminded him of the great person he was.

With Sam being the great person that he was despite the fact that he was a demon finally figured out or understood that his purpose for being born was to protect and keep the innocent safe after the Rapture. Before the Rapture Sam had no friends and didn't trust anyone. But afterwards he did find friends in Josh the nephew of the priest of Jacob's Ladder and the best friend of his guardian. He also found friendship a girl, Grace whom he and Josh went to Hell literally to save her. She was an innocent and did not belong in Hell.

Rapture was vividly written in a way that you could actually see in your mind what I think the author wanted you to see. The way that he described how the world looked after the Rapture was like you felt as if you were there yourself seeing it for yourself. There's no way you could not have liked Sam with the way the author described him as well. You fall in love with his character and your rooting for him in ever battle hoping that he makes it out alive. Sam is half-demon but he is a better person than some of the people that was left behind.

The ending did kind of catch me off guard. I never actually expected what happen to happen. It was a definitely a surprise. You know where Sam is going what it is that he has to do. But the thing is you never expect it to turn out the way it did. You know I wasn't real sure about reading Rapture with it being about religion. I kind of thought I wouldn't like it very well but the summary made it sound like it would be well sort of a good read. But I am so very glad now that I read it because it was a way better story than I ever thought it would be.
