Schoolteacher Connie Meyers is suddenly a young widow, her husband killed in a horrific car accident. Heartbroken to find out he had gambled away everything they had, she moves to her sister-in-law's Midwest home to rebuild her life. A trip to the local Renaissance Faire with her nieces leads to a summer job as a costumed storyteller.

Avowed bad boy and fair performer Gage Younglood is infatuated with Connie at first sight. Despite his deliberately commitment-free life, and Connie's don't-touch-me attitude, he soon has her in his arms, realizing quickly she is also in his heart.
When she is threatened by her late husband's bookie, he steps into the role of protector, his fate forever sealed with hers.

Excerpt:

“Who said anything about a relationship?” he said, standing up so he could tower over her again. “I’m just trying to have a little fun. You know, fun?”

If he’d been an animal, she was sure he’d have had hair raised on the back of his neck, he seemed so angry, and it struck her painfully. She hadn’t wanted to anger him or hurt him. She turned away from him and closed her eyes to tamp down the tears she knew would come if she let them. She crossed her arms over her chest, to hold in the pain. Being tired made her much too vulnerable.

“Yes,” she finally said. “I know about fun. Life isn’t always fun, though.”

“Princess.” His voice was soft, tender. “I won’t hurt you. It’s not in my plan.”

Despite herself, she felt the shivers of desire race down from her shoulders, down her arms and legs, and back up to that secret, soft place at her core. She bowed her head and gritted her teeth, hoping for the feeling to go away.

“And what is your plan, Gage?”

“It’s a simple plan. I want you to feel good. I want to feel good, too.”

Fifteen-year-old Alex is a "spinner." His friends are "dummies." Two clandestine groups of humans want his power. And an ancient evil is stalking him. If people weren't being murdered, Alex might laugh at how his life turned into a horror movie overnight.

In a wheelchair since birth, his freakish ability has gotten him kicked out of ten foster homes since the age of four. Now saddled with a sadistic housemother who uses his spinning to heal the kids she physically abuses, Alex and his misfit group of learning disabled classmates are the only ones who can solve the mystery of his birth before more people meet a gruesome end.

They need to find out who murdered their beloved teacher, and why the hot young substitute acts like she's flirting with them. Then there's the mysterious medallion that seems to have unleashed something malevolent, and an ancient prophecy suggesting Alex has the power to destroy humanity.

The boys break into homes, dig up graves, elude kidnappers, fight for their lives against feral cats, and ultimately confront an evil as old as humankind. Friendships are tested, secrets uncovered, love spoken, and destiny revealed.

The kid who's always been a loner will finally learn the value of friends, family, and loyalty.

If he survives…

Excerpt from Spinner by Michael J Bowler:

They were in.

Now to find the grave.

They had a map, of sorts. With the graveyard paperwork Alex's mother had sent was a map that had numbers on it. Roy knew from his own mother's funeral that those numbers meant the different graves. One area was circled on the map, and Roy had told them that must be where Alex's folks were buried. All they had to do was follow the map.

Yeah, he thought, as they stood in a darkened graveyard looking at a paper map with a tiny flashlight beam, trying to figure out just where in the hell on that map they were, sounded easy at the time. Since he was the only one who drove, the others let him plot their way. But shit, he hadn't been here since last year on his mom's anniversary to put flowers and, well, that had been during the day!

Israel stood quietly keening with fear, his eyes darting everywhere at once, while Java and Alex waited patiently for Roy to figure things out. Their best landmark was a lake near to where Alex's parents were buried. They'd have to wander around till they found it.

"They're near some lake, and there's a fountain, I think, so we should, like hear water splashing, right?"

Java shrugged, but Alex nodded excitedly. "Yeah, we will. Let's look around till we hear it."

They moved out into the tree scattered, grave-filled cemetery with nervous anticipation. Java carried the shovels because he didn't trust Israel not to drop them if a gopher ran past in the dark.

The grass slowed Alex's wheels so he let Roy push the chair from behind to conserve his arm strength.
Most of the graves were the small ones like his mom had, just a flat metal plate with names and dates on them. The wind gusted and blew leaves from the fading trees onto the grass, swirling them around their feet as they walked. No one spoke. The silence crushed them. Dark, ominous clouds only added to the horror-film atmosphere, and Roy wished he hadn't watched so many of those movies at Izzy's house.

The grass rose up into hills and mounds, all scattered with graves that they passed nervously between. Roy felt weird, walking on top of dead people like this, and he could hear Israel panting with fear. He was about to approach and calm the boy when Java stepped up and flanked Izzy, offering his own muscular body as protection. The gesture surprised Roy, just like the one atop his truck, given Java's daily frustration with Izzy's ADHD. But the move clearly helped Izzy, who looked at Java and smiled with gratitude.

The flat graves gave way to the kind with tall headstones by the time the splashing of water came from ahead in the darkness. Roy increased his speed. The tall headstones looked really old, and for some reason they creeped him out more than the newer ones, like somehow older dead bodies would be more likely to haunt them or something.

The splashing grew louder, and the wind stronger. It also got colder, and Roy shivered. Must be the lake water making him cold, he told himself, hoping that was the only reason. The image of that huge, evil cat crept ceaselessly into his mind as he pushed Alex toward his parents' graves. To find out what? That Alex was a bigger freak than he thought? That he might destroy the world some day? Roy knew these things could never happen, not from Alex. But Alex feared himself even more than he feared the cat. And that broke Roy's heart every time he thought about it.

The lake loomed ahead, not too big, but bigger than Roy could calculate using his body-height method. A jet of water shot into the air at its center and fell back, hitting the surface with the kind of splashing sounds he used to make in the bathtub as a child.

Java and Israel stopped by the shore of the lake and turned to face him. Roy let go of Alex's chair and slipped out the map. He squatted down so Alex could see and turned on the tiny penlight. Together, they squinted at the circled spot and tried to figure out which direction it was from the fountain of water.

After a few moments of bobbing his head up and down from the map to their surroundings, Roy thought he'd figured it out. He pointed to their right, to an older part of the graveyard that was a mix of flat plates and stone markers. "Over there."

The others nodded and they set off. They passed nervously through the rows of graves. Even though Alex hadn't said anything, Roy felt eyes on them.

Lots of eyes.

But every time he looked around there was nothing but the wind and rustling leaves and their own cushioned footfalls against the grass.

I'm crazy, he thought, imagining dead people watching.

Or maybe it was those creepy-ass stone angels bending toward a grave, hands clasped before them in prayer. Maybe they were watching. Whatever it was, Roy's skin crawled.

This was the section. He stopped pushing Alex, and the others stopped, too. Now was the part they all hated - reading. They had to look at each grave and try to figure out which one belonged to Alex's parents. Alex looked at him and Roy whispered, "The last name starts with "O," right?"

Alex nodded. Roy squinted at the paper and found the name. He could tell because there were two names in front of it and that meant the "O" word was the last name. He pointed to it for Java and Israel. "That's the name we gotta find."

"Are dead people, like, you know, laid out by ABCs?" Israel asked.

Java looked at him in annoyance. "Fool, do you even know your ABCs?"

Israel shrugged. "Some of 'em. I always get stuck around, like, 'G' or 'P' or something like that. I never could-"

Before Israel could start rambling, Roy whispered, "Just look for a last name starting with 'O.' Then we'll check it with the paper."

Java nodded, but Israel's mouth fell open. "You mean we gotta split up?"

"Just around here, fool," Java snapped, keeping his deep voice low and controlled.
"But there's dead people here!" Israel hissed, his eyes wide with fear.

"That's why it be called a graveyard," Java spat, his temper obviously rising.

"Look guys," Alex said, "you two stick together and me and Roy'll stick together. 'Kay?"

Java grunted, but Israel nodded rapidly. "Yeah, that's better."

The two groups wandered off in opposite directions, each with a penlight.

Roy aimed his light while Alex slowly pushed himself between the graves. The beam struck each headstone or metal plaque long enough for both of them to squint at the last name, and then Roy moved it along to the next. He still felt that sensation of being watched, and it sent chills up and down his spine. The cold, biting wind didn't help, and he kept his hood up and over his head to keep his hair from blowing into his eyes.

He spotted the other flashlight beam a short distance away, but there seemed to be no one else anywhere around. So who was watching them? Finally, he stepped closer to Alex and leaned down to his face. "Someone's watching us."

Alex peered out from his hood, brushed hair from in front of his eyes, and looked at him soberly. "Not someone. Some thing."

Roy froze. "What thing?"

Alex shrugged.

"This is a romantic suspense with lots of twists and turns in the plot. It is gripping and engaging and has your mind going heywire trying to get to the bottom of the mystery. As if that wasn't enough the chemistry between Ellie and Justin, the smoking hot Navy SEAL with an over-protective and possessive streak, is off the charts. This is a quick, really enjoyable read and I would definitely recommend it."

I've have met some amazing woman on my journey so far, and have learned so much. (Sometimes the hard way.) I've been like a sponge soaking up all the information I can on how the publishing world works. It's been a rollercoaster ride with its ups and its downs.

No matter what, I will never regret anything I've done. You can't succeed if you don't try, and if you don't try you won't succeed. One of my favorite quotes "If the dream is big enough the facts don't matter".
Some other info about me, I love my family, friends, wine and anything caffeinated. I also love writing HEA. For the same reason I won't watch a movie that I know will make me cry, (with the exception of Steel Magnolias) I will never write a book without a HEA. There might be a few twists and turns, a cliffhanger or two. But ultimately my stories will leave you feeling warm and fuzzy inside. For me, reading is entertainment, a way to escape this crazy insane world. If a book leaves me feeling sad, mad or gut wrenched, it is not for me. There is enough gut-wrenching sadness in this world, I don't need to read about it too.

I started writing four years ago, and have no plans on stopping. So keep your eye on me because with the help of some amazing people and my wonderful fans, this girl is going to be on the New York Times bestselling list someday.

Emerald – a girl with green eyes and a rarity after the horrific genocide that slaughtered millions. After the war, King Gideon rose in power. A lust-filled and greedy king that believed in the power of slavery. At eighteen, women were required to come before King Gideon and his four sons, to offer themselves as a courtesan. The princes took only those they found most attractive and alluring. The rest were returned to their homes with a brand on their wrist proving they had been through the process and rejected. Ignoring the ritual was punishable by death. Aria Stone had been kept hidden from the princes and the ceremony, because she was an Emerald. At twenty-three, the royal guards storm her home, murder her mother, and drag her to court. She must face the four princes. A dystopian erotic adventure.

Here's a first look at the novel with a teaser

Emerald Virgin Teaser

Exclusive Excerpt

"Your guards murdered my mother, dragged and drugged me from my home. Anything else you wish to know?" Aria asked, short-tempered. James stepped close enough to feel his breath against her cheek. "I can see your reluctance to be here, but I assure you no harm will come to you, Aria." It was hard to believe him given the circumstances. Aria crossed her arms defensively. She didn't say a word. There was nothing to say that would please him and make her happy. She wouldn't lie or pretend to care about him when anger ebbed away at her and boiled in her blood. Not when he made Aria think of her mother and asked her about what happened, as if he pretended to care. Unlike the other women here looking for something, she just wanted her freedom returned. Pretending eluded her.

Virtual Tour: THE ARGENT STAR by Emerson Fray @FrayEmerson @GoddessFish #Giveaway

THE ARGENT STAR
by Emerson Fray

BLURB:

What happens when your decisions affect an entire universe?

Ren Argent wanted to be an archeologist and spend her life exploring the lost cities of Earth.  But when a new planet is discovered and her father is appointed King, she has to leave behind everything she knows to rule over a place she’s only heard of in legends.

Not long after her arrival she discovers there are insurgents hiding in the darkened forests and the planet is on the brink of civil war.  It won’t be long until the Monarchy steps in to “neutralize” the threat.

Will she be able to stop the hostile takeover?  Or will her actions ignite a rebellion across the universe?

EXCERPT:

“Why did you bring me here?” she asked.  It was against Maks’s rules, and though Ren had only known her a short time, Ren hadn’t thought Sheridan would break the rules so easily.  Yet she still brought Ren to one of the places Maks had forbidden, and didn’t even know about.

“When one is battling a river it is best to travel with the current,” Sheridan replied, a small smirk appearing.  She knelt beside Ren and dipped her fingers into the water, swirling them around to create a line of green light.  “This place is magic; I thought you could use some magic.”

“Magic isn’t real,” Ren said, although she enjoyed the idea of it.  She wasn’t one to shy away from the entertaining tricks, from smoke and mirrors, but she knew it was just that.  Tricks.  “There’s probably some kind of algae here to create the glow, and maybe some kind of advan—”

“Not everything needs to be explained,” Sheridan said.  “Sometimes it just is.”

That made Ren quiet and she kept her opinion to herself.  If the people of Novae believed in certain magics then that was fine.  She didn’t want them to force their beliefs on her, so why should she force hers on them?

“Thanks,” she mumbled, “for bringing me here.  You know, you’re actually really sweet.”

Sheridan blanched, her hand stopping all motion and remaining in the water.  “What?”

“You try to hide it,” Ren said, her lips turning upwards, “and you always have those things on your back.”

Sheridan tilted her head to glance at the weapons she was never without.  “They’re kamas,” she said before looking back at Ren.

“But I can see it.  You act like you couldn’t care less about the world and what people think but you like Novae.”  Ren was careful with her words.  “You don’t like the Monarchy.”

Sheridan took a deep breath.  “I don’t.  And neither do you.”

Blog Tour: Duplication (Duplication Trilogy # 1) By Leigh Clary Abdou @AuthorLCA @GHBTours #Giveaway

Duplication
Duplication Trilogy # 1
By- Leigh Clary Abdou
Genre- Sci Fi

Our tomorrows are today, our yesterdays a secret memory.

Under the new world dictatorship of Pangaea, religion dominates, putting those marked as Christian at a disadvantage. Forced to wear crosses on their clothing and adhere to strict governmental rules, Katrine Matthews and Ramsey Greene find themselves oppressed, living under a government duplicating events from the darkest hours of history.
Together, with people of all faiths, Ramsey decides to fight, while Katrine learns to confront her two greatest fears: falling in love and death, which push her to make the ultimate sacrifice.

Excerpt:

KATRINE CLEANED HER APARTMENT and what felt like seconds later, Ramsey knocked. The Saturday grocery store ordeal had arrived. She dreamed someday of ordering groceries via the drone delivery method, but costing extra, Katrine and Ramsey opted for pick-up.

Grabbing David, she pinned on their crosses. Placing him on her hip, she looked in the mirror, taking a last fleeting glimpse at her somewhat tamed hair. Blue eyes, green eyes, and two blonde heads returned their stare.

Black bags hung heavily under her eyes, accompanied with a dull, blue hue. The past two years had been difficult. Was she even the same girl? She thought so…maybe. Or maybe she didn’t know her identity anymore.

She looked at their shirts and took in the crosses pinned right above their hearts. In Pangaea, Christians were branded like Hester Prynne in The Scarlet Letter. She opened the door to find Ramsey with his cross pinned as well. Public outings without the mark weren’t permitted.

“Okay, let’s go. We want to be one of the first ones there.” Katrine motioned and Ramsey nodded, holding open the door. Christians weren’t allowed in the grocery store until after two PM on Saturdays and Sundays.

Author Interview-

What inspired you to write Duplication?

I had just finished “Sarah’s Key” by Tatiana De Rosnay and tried to put myself in the shoes of a Jew living during the Holocaust. From there, the thought crossed my mind “what if history repeated itself?” My mind then moved to my own religion (Christianity), wondering what it would be like to experience something like this from a different perspective. I made a futuristic society and the rest of the book just tumbled out.

When or at what age did you know you wanted to be a writer?

About the third grade. My first book was four chapters long and about a blind girl who was lost on the ocean in a boogie board. It does have a happy ending! I have been writing my entire life due to a huge imagination. Taking that and creating worlds and characters has been a part of me for as long as I can remember.

What is the earliest age you remember reading your first book?

I remember learning to read in the first grade and how excited I was. I’ve read like every Nancy Drew book ever written, so when I think of my earliest books, I think of these.

What genre of books do you enjoy reading?

I read anything and everything. My favorites are: romance, science fiction, contemporary fiction, fantasy, romantic suspense.

What is your favorite book?

Gone with the Wind

You know I think we all have a favorite author. Who is your favorite author and why?

Anything by Colleen Hoover. She hasn’t written a book yet that I haven’t LOVED.

If you could travel back in time here on earth to any place or time. Where would you go
and why?

I would want to go to Europe during WW11 to observe and study the Holocaust, as well as, to the south during the Civil War, and to Scotland during the 1700’s - inspired by the Outlander books (Diana Gabaldon). I would like to be an invisible bystander to watch and study these pivotal moments in history.

When writing a book do you find that writing comes easy for you or is it a difficult task?

Writing is hard work and writing a novel takes a lot dedication. However, anything you love doing isn’t really work. The storylines and plots come natural - sitting down and making them into a readable novel isn’t easy, but worth it in the end.

Do you have any little fuzzy friends? Like a dog or a cat? Or any pets?

No pets. I have a husband and two children...it takes everything I have to remember to feed them lol!

What is your "to die for", favorite food/foods to eat?

M&M’s and sweet tea. They make any bad day better and any headache instantly disappear.

Do you have any advice for anyone that would like to be an author?

Write, write, and write! Read, read, and read!

When I write a book, I do about two or three re-writes per book...writing is like a muscle, the more you use it, the stronger it becomes.

I also read EVERYTHING. I heard an author say that reading is research, and that’s so true! I used to follow books paragraph by paragraph to see how they were developing characters and how they were using punctuality. I learned everything from reading and then implementing what I had read into my own writing.

Excerpt:

Graham

I knew Cass was coming. Hell, I was the one who called her, but until she was standing there refusing to make eye contact—it was hard to believe it was true. We’d barely said two words to each other since we left her house. I didn’t really know what to say to her. Well, I knew what to say to her, but I also knew I couldn’t. It wasn’t the time, and I wasn’t an ass. She made herself pretty clear last time I saw her. God, I wished she’d didn’t look so damn good. If she looked bad all this would be easier.

And maybe I wouldn’t want to kiss her so much.

God, I wanted to kiss her.

I had to shake that off. I had a girlfriend, and Cassie was here, but it didn’t change anything. I opened the door to the guest room, and turned the light on for her. In the light of the room, she was radiant. She’d always been beautiful, but today, there was something else, a sadness that rarely defined her, but now it seemed so engrained.

I knew right then what I really wanted for her: I hoped that when she left she found the thing that made her happy. That the sadness in her eyes was only the situation, and not what she had become. I cared too much about her to see her swallowed in sadness.

“This looks nice,” Cassie said. “Very different.”

When I met her gaze, I recognized a glimmer of the girl I used to love. What did she see in this room? The brown and blue paint that used to cover it? The pictures of her and me that used to plaster the walls? The Clash poster that hung on the closet door? The basketball trophies? The first time we fumbled our way through sex when we were sixteen on that very bed? We’d improved a lot since that first time. The last time I made her yell my name over and over, and it always felt awesome to be the one to make her come. I had everything I could ever want, and all of it was her, especially in that last moment we had together. I felt like a king as she called my name as I moved inside her, I caught a glint of my diamond on her finger. I’d thought in that moment that she’d be mine forever in every way possible. That’d we have this for the rest of our lives. The memory was as vivid as if it had been yesterday, even though it’d been months.

I cleared my throat. Stop thinking about that. “A lot has changed.”
