Ultimatum Book #1 Cover photo Ultimatum-Cover.jpg

Ultimatum
(The Devil's Kiss #1)

Kayla Sutton faces a question no mother wants to face: what would you do to save your daughter? Broke and desperate, she siphons thousands from the company she works for in order to pay for her daughter's experimental life-saving treatment. But when Gage Channing discovers her theft, she is shocked to learn that her domineering boss has no intention of turning her over to the police. Instead he issues an ultimatum-submit to him, or go to jail.

Backed into a corner, Kayla signs his contract and spends her first weekend at his home, at his mercy, and is stunned when he awakens the desire she'd believed long dead.

Approximately 12,000 words.

Excerpt for Ultimatum:

The room was rectangular, dark and windowless, with deep crimson walls that matched the comforter on the king-sized bed; Gage had already laid several items on the end. A rack of cuffs, chains, whips, paddles, and God only knew what else hung on the far wall. An odd-looking bench sat in front of the display. Not certain what the X on the wall, the hooks in the floor and ceiling, or the plethora of items on the shelves were used for, I tore my gaze from the terrifying sight. A group of comfy chairs and a couch were arranged on a throw rug at the opposite end. Across from the bed a swanky bathroom, outfitted with a whirlpool tub and separate shower, could be seen through an archway.

Gage fisted my hair and yanked me against him. "These are my rules. Remember them." He trailed a hand down my throat, and his fingers settled on the buttons of my blouse. "Number one, don't fight me. If you do you'll be punished." He slowly unfastened each one, taking the time to brush his fingers against my skin. "Two, unless I've given you permission to speak freely, always call me Master when we're alone." He slid his hand inside and palmed my breast. "And three, obey without hesitation. Do you understand these rules?"

"I-I understand." I forced the words past my quivering lips.

He let out a low chuckle. "I don't think you do. I think it's time for your first punishment." He gripped my hair even tighter. "Before we go any further, you need to choose a safe word."

"And if I say this word . . . you'll stop?"

"Yes. And then I'll turn you over to the authorities. Neither of us wants that."

"Then what's the point in choosing a safe word? You know I won't use it."

"Because what happens here will be on my terms, but ultimately your choice. I won't move forward without it, so choose wisely, something you won't forget or accidentally say." He withdrew his hand from my breast and put a few inches between us. "It's the only word that will save you from your punishment. Screaming, crying, begging me to stop . . . none of those tactics will work."

"You sick bastard."

"You might consider showing me some respect-I'm the only person standing between you and a jail cell."

My Review for Ultimatum:

The following review is my opinion and not a paid review. I was received a free copy of the book from the author for my honest opinion.

Kayla Sutton is a mother of a three year old daughter, Eve. Eve is the hospital with a life threating disease. Kayla having run out of money embellezes money from her job. When her boss Cage Channing discovers what she has done he decides to blackmail her. You see Cage has had his eye on Kayla for a long time. Cage wants Kayla for his own little play toy. So Cage makes a deal with Kayla if she will become his slave then he will make what she did disappear and he will not call the police.

Well Kayla is in a predicament when she finds out what it is he wants her to do for him. But what is a mother to do? What would any mother that loved her little girl do to save her life? How far would that mother go? What mother would not steal money to save her daughter's life? I have never had children of my own but I would or I honestly believe I would do exactly what Kayla did for her daughter. What kind of mother would she be if she said no to Cage and went to prison? What would have happened to Eve? She would have been put in an orphanage.

Yes, Cage is a very cruel man for what he did to Kayla but at the same time he saved her from going to prison and she could keep and be with her daughter. Kayla may have not completely understood what she was signing she still knew what she was getting herself into. Besides I really don't think she gave it much thought as to what she would actually be doing. All she was thinking about was her daughter in the same way she was thinking about her when she stole the money. Eve was all that matter she, Kayla didn't matter in the least.

Well so Cage was wrong. He gave Kayla a choice she made her own decision and she did it for her daughter. Cage may have did a lot of things that Kayla never wanted to do or would have done if the circumstances had been different she still made her choice he never forced her.

If you like a good mystery and a page turner then I think you would like Ultimatum. I will give you fair warning there is a lot of sex like BDSM. So if you are not into this kind of story or if you are under 18 then maybe you shouldn't read Ultimatum.

Enslaved Book #2 Cover photo EnslavedBook2-Cover.jpg

Enslaved
(The Devil's Kiss #2)

Freedom is but an illusion . . .

Kayla Sutton finds out the hard way that Gage Channing's dominance doesn't end once she leaves the confines of his basement. His rules dictate her days and nights, his watchful eye keeps her in line at work, and the memories of her weekend with him, spent under his absolute control and his firm hand, keeps her on her toes. Having been blackmailed into submitting to him, Kayla doesn't fully understand what it means to relinquish control of her body and free will, and she doesn't understand how a man who derives pleasure in whipping and humiliating her is capable of awakening the desire she hadn't known existed.

As her daughter's life hangs in the balance, Kayla must dig deep to find the strength to fully submit, to travel down the path of pain and pleasure. But when her past catches up to her, prompting a free fall into forbidden territory with a man she once fiercely loved, she knows her only recourse is to come clean about her transgression to her Master and beg his forgiveness . . . only she never imagined he'd have such a horrifying punishment awaiting her, or that his jealousy would send her life into a further tailspin.

Approximately 19,000 words.

Excerpt for Enslaved:

Gage wasted no time in reclaiming the hot, damp place between my legs. He stroked me relentlessly, and not even the decadent cake had the power to distract me. By the time he pulled me into his arms on the dance floor, I'd downed four more glasses of champagne and was more than a little tipsy. Bodies flush, our champagne breaths mingling, I melted against him and let him pull me into the sway. Something shifted within me during that dance. For the first time, I returned his touch. Sliding my hands into his hair, I curled my fingers into the dark strands as he swept me across the room. I didn't care if everyone was watching, if what I was doing and feeling was wrong.

And it was so wrong. Nothing about this situation should feel romanticized, but I was lost and never wanted to be found.

He tightened his arms around me, pulling me close enough that his hard-on strained against my stomach. "Wanna get out of here?"

Our faces were inches apart, and for a moment I thought he was going to kiss me in front of everyone. "Yeah."

We left in a flurry of goodbyes, and the only thing more dizzying than my champagne-induced state was the commotion of grabbing our coats. The drive back to Gage's place was but a fuzzy memory. We stumbled through the front door, his mouth hot and wet on my throat as my thighs locked around his waist. My hands gripped his hair as he carried me through the house. Maybe later I'd question why he took me to his bedroom instead of the basement, or why he seemed so un-Gage like as he ripped the bodice of my dress in an impatient fit of desire. The material tore to my waist, exposing my clamped breasts. He yanked on the chain, propelling me toward him and the bed, and his mouth closed over an aching nipple. We shed our clothing and tumbled onto the mattress, where he wrapped my fingers around the bars of the headboard.

"Don't let go." His breath fanned across my face an instant before he blinded me with a silk tie.

My Review for Enslaved:

The following review is my opinion and not a paid review. I was received a free copy of the book from the author for my honest opinion.

In Ultimatum book one of The Devil's Kiss Kayla Sutton stole money from her boss. Her boss Cage caught her and gave her an Ultimatum she becomes his slave and he her master or he calls the police. Well guess what Kayla chose? To become his slave. Why did she steal this money? To save her daughter's life. Her daughter Eve has a life threatening disease. Cage drew up a contract for Kayla to sign. In the contract Kayla gave up her weekends for Cage she was to spend them at his house.

Kayla was thinking ok maybe this won't be that bad and she will have the money to pay for her daughter's hospital stay and treatment. But she was in for a big surprise with what he expected her to do. Of course the contract stated what she would have to do but Kayla was kind of naive in this department. Yes she understood that she was to spend the weekends at his home but he had other things in mind. What other things? Well for instance he told her what to wear and what to eat. He also forbids her to speak to any man. Ok so he gave her a choice she could void the contract anytime she wanted but if she did that could mean her daughter's life.

Kayla runs into an old friend an old friend that she dated in college at the hospital. Kayla is still in love with this old friend Ian but she is not allowed to even speak to him or her master Cage will punish her. But Kayla can't tell Ian any of this but she has to put him off hoping that he will wait for her until the end of her contract with Cage is over. But Ian doesn't give up so easily. But there is one good thing about the fact that Ian is now working at the same hospital is that Kayla has Ian to watch over Eve on the weekends when she can't be there for her.

Although Enslave may have dark erotic sex in it, it is still a good story that protrays what most mother's would do and how far they would go to save their child's life. Enslave is more for the 18+ audience. I do recommend that you read Ultimatum book one before Enslave book two otherwise you will probably have a hard time figuring out what is happening.

Retribution Book #2 Cover photo RetributionBook3-Cover.jpg

Retribution
(The Devil's Kiss #3)

Kayla Sutton thinks it's over. She now holds the leverage she believes will end her contract with her blackmailer, but Gage Channing isn't going down without a fight. He's turned the tables on her, cleverly making her submit under the guise of giving her a choice, and Kayla soon discovers that retribution isn't so black and white when everyone around her has secrets.

She faced sexual servitude in Ultimatum. In Enslaved she was seduced into craving it. Now she must find the strength to either accept the part of her that craves him still, or walk away for good . . .

Approximately 21,000 words.

Excerpt for Retribution:

"Straddle me," he demanded, pulling me onto his lap and denying me the chance to object. He slid his hands under my dress and grabbed my ass, bringing me against his erection. My reaction was instantaneous. A flood of warmth crashed at my center, and I struggled to catch my breath through lips that parted of their own volition. His hands kneaded my bottom. "You feel that?" Awareness zinged between us as he watched me. "We connect here, Kayla."

"It's just sex." My voice sounded weak, and I despised myself for it, especially since my body rocked against his.

"No, you're not the type of woman who engages in 'just sex' arrangements." He brought his hands up and spanned my ribcage. "The fact that you're sitting here hot for my cock after everything I've done"-he circled my nipples with his thumbs-"turning to liquid at my touch, gives you away. You can have 'just sex' with anyone. There's more here between us."

I couldn't look at him anymore. I closed my eyes, but I still felt his hands on me, still felt him hard and hot underneath me.

"I could fuck you right now, and you'd still beg for more." He grabbed the back of my neck and pulled me in. "You're just as addicted to me as I am you." Pressing his mouth to mine, his tongue swept inside, and I wondered what he was waiting for.

"Do it, Gage." I moaned against his lips. Later I'd beat myself up for this. Later I'd walk away.

"No. Just because you're not my slave anymore, that doesn't mean you call the shots." He palmed my ass and squeezed hard. "And I'm still Master to you in the bedroom."

My Review for Retribution:

The following review is my opinion and not a paid review. I was received a free copy of the book from the author for my honest opinion.

In book one Ultimatum of The Devil's Kiss Kayla steals money from her boss and he finds out. Instead of calling the police he decides to blackmail her. Her boss Cage draws up a contract between him and Kayla. The contract states that Kayla will be his slave in the true essence of the word. What does Kayla get out of this besides staying out of prison? What would make a woman give up all her rights to one man? Her three year old little girl thats what. Cage offers to pay for all of her daughter Eve's medical bills and keep Kayla out of jail and she becomes his slave, his sex slave.

In book two Enslaved all Kayla is thinking and cares about is that her daughter is getting the treatment she needs thanks to Cage. It doesn't matter that she is Cage's slave and not only does she have to the weekends at his house and not at the hospital with her daughter. The only important thing is that Eve is getting her treatments. Cage not only tells her what to do at his house he has control over Kayla at the office the hospital or where ever she maybe by telling her what to wear, what to eat and who she can and can't talk too.

In book three Retribution of The Devil's Kiss Kayla finds out some info that just may turn the tables on old Cage. Kayla finds out that Cage has more skeleton's in his closet than just enjoying being in control when it comes to how he enjoys his sex life like a little BDSM if you know what I mean. Cage is a very cruel man and just may have been picked right out of the devil's rear end. But he never actually forced Kayla to do anything she didn't want to do. She always had a choice no matter what that choice was. She did have two choices. 1. Go to prison. 2. Let her daughter die. What mother would not have made the same choice as Kayla? A good mother would have done the very exact same thing.

Retribution is a very good story and I did like all the characters yes even Cage in his own way. I will give you fair warning there is a lot of sex like BDSM. So if you are not into this kind of story or if you are under 18 then maybe you shouldn't read Retribution. If you do decide that The Devil's Kiss is something you would like to read then I do suggest that you read them in order starting with Ultimatum book #1 and then Enslaved book #2 and finally Retribution book #3.

Book Tour: The Gatekeeper's Daughter By Eva Pohler

The Gatekeepers Daughter photo GatekeepersDaughterThe-EvaPohler.jpg

Title: The Gatekeeper's Daoughter
Series: Gatekeepers Trilogy Book 3
Author: Eva Pohler
Genre: Ya Fantasy
Date Published:11/29/12

Buy Link: Authors Amazon Page

Book Description:

In The Gatekeeper's Sons, Therese and Thanatos, the god of Death, met and fell in love. In The Gatekeeper's Challenge, they did everything they could to be together, even break an oath on the River Styx. But the Olympians don't tolerate oath-breakers. In this final book in the trilogy, The Gatekeeper's Daughter, Therese may have finally succeeded in becoming a goddess, but if she wants to remain one, she'll not only have to discover her unique purpose, but also make some allies among the gods. Artemis sends her on a seemingly impossible quest across the world, while Than searches for a way to appease Ares. To make matters worse, her aunt's baby's life hangs in the balance.

How Greek Myths Inspire Us to Be Heroes:

I fell in love with Greek myths in the eighth grade, when I read Edith Hamilton's Mythology. Later, after studying Carl Jung and Sigmund Freud, I better understood why most people are drawn to myths: They help us to project and symbolically play out our own fears and desires. Carl Jung wrote of universal archetypes-such as the Madonna, the soldier, and the rogue. Sigmund Freud wrote that art was the opportunity for adults to continue childhood play in a socially acceptable way. Joseph Campbell built upon the works of both Jung and Freud to describe The Hero with a Thousand Faces, which inspired George Lukas in the creation of Star Wars.

As a writer, I, like Lukas, wished to tap into that universal consciousness where fears and desires are shared. Myths make it possible to project universal fears, or what we often call our inner demons, into monsters that can be externally fought and defeated. The most universal fear is death. I created a trilogy for young adults in which death is not only faced and, in some ways, battled, but also embraced and transcended.

In the first book of this contemporary fantasy, The Gatekeeper's Sons, fifteen-year-old Therese Mills meets Thanatos, the god of death, while in a coma after witnessing her parents' murder. She feels like the least powerful person on the planet and is ready to give up on life, but the story forces her to fight. As she hunts with the fierce and beautiful Furies to track down her parents' murder and avenge their death, she falls in love with Thanatos and symbolically accepts her parents' and her own mortality.

In the second book, The Gatekeeper's Challenge, Therese has the opportunity to transcend death by accepting five seemingly impossible challenges issued by Hades. All five challenges represent the universal fears of rejection, culpability, disorientation, death, and loss in the forms of a box not allowed to be opened, an apple that shouldn't be eaten, a labyrinth meant to confuse, a Hydra that wants to destroy, and the allure of bringing back the dead. These same myths are recycled again and again through the centuries because they help us to recognize our inner demons and inspire us to defeat them.

My Review:

The following review is my opinion and not a paid review. I was given a free copy of the book from the author for my honest opinion.

In The Gatekeeper's Son Than the God of Death meets Therese when she is in a coma after being in a car accident that killed her parents and they fall in love. In The Gatekeeper's Challenge Therese and Than are trying to find a way to make Therese a Goddess so they can be together. Therese has to go through Challenges to become a Goddess.

In The Gatekeeper's Daughter Therese and Than found a way to make her a Goddess but now they have to find a way for them to be together. One of the Gods does not want them to be together nor have children. Therese and Than have to try and outsmart the Gods and Goddess or they will not get to spend eternity together. The Gods and Goddess put Therese through challenge after challenge just when she thinks she has one completed another one pops up in her way.

I think Therese is learning a lot about herself and what it actually means to help someone with all of the challenges that she is faced with. When you help someone else you are always thinking you are doing a good deed and you are. But like Therese and me have found out there is a fine line between helping someone and being selfish. What I mean is, are you helping someone out of the goodness of your heart? Or, are you helping them for your own self?

I have truly enjoyed reading the Gatekeeper's Trilogy. I have loved reading both Therese and Than's story. I have rooted for them from book one and I hate to leave them now. I can't help but wonder what other challenges they will have to face in their life together. Will they have the family they want? Have they both become stronger for going through all the challenges? Is their love strong enough to go through more challenges? Yeah I think so. They are both very strong people and can overcome any obstacle for their love.

If you have not read The Gatekeeper's Daughter then I highly suggest you do but I do recommend that you The Gatekeeper's Son and then The Gatekeeper's Challenge first. That way you will understand more of what is going on and why they are having to face so many challenges.

Book Tour: Tantric Storm By Kali Willows

Series: 1 Night Stand

Author: Kali Willows

Genre: Paranormal, Interracial Romance, Erotic,

Publisher: Decadent Publishing

Format: Ebook

Length: 63 pages

Book Description:

Therapist Laura Wellington is eager to end her sexual dry spell. Her skill of helping couples achieve personal happiness is illusive in her own life. Through the services of 1NS, she jets off to a small island in Spain for a spectacular night of mind-blowing pleasure, but her match has a challenge that might make her goal unreachable.

Declan Tempest hasn't had a climax in years. Not because he can't, but because he won't; his dire fear over the consequences of fulfillment deter him. Declan turns to the aid of Madame Eve to create a match that can allow him the satisfaction he desperately needs, despite the challenge he deems a dark curse.

Can the two of them find release while they battle a tantric storm?

Excerpt:

"Wait a second. You're saying you could tell things about me just by looking?"

"Yes, I can." She crossed her arms and stared him down.

"Okay." He faced her. "Give it your best shot."

"Well, let's see." She considered his appearance. "You dressed in casual attire, so you wanted to appear relaxed and confident for our date, but you're particular about your clothing. Silk, white, button down shirt, the first few buttons are open, and chino dress pants, so you aren't uptight, but still somewhat conservative."

Declan arched his brows. "Go on."

"You shave your head, but from the looks of your five o'clock shadow, it's more for convenience than esthetics. You have a solid build, but wear loose clothing. You don't go out of your way to show your defined muscles, but you have an exceptionally competitive nature. I would say you're a professional athlete. A full contact sport of some kind."

"Wow."

"You're engaging and kind. The thin detailed line of facial hair framing your jaw suggests to me you like to have some mystery and can be a very private person, but you don't hide. If people ask your opinion, you're honest and open, sometimes more than you intend to be."

"You're good."

"It's a gift. What can I say?" She relaxed. Not everyone was as receptive to her "gift."

"I'm speechless."

"Do you want to try and figure me out?" What will he say?

"Sure I may not be as good at it as you are, but I'll give it a try."

"Ready." Laura dropped her arms to her side and lifted her chin with a smile.

"Let's see, you're sweet, intelligent, and sexy as hell."

She stifled a giggle. "Be serious."

"I am." Declan reached up and smoothed a stray tress from her cheek. She leaned into his touch.

"All right, more detail. You wore a soft, shell patterned dress, strapless, with a little glimpse of paradise, but not too much." With a valiant gleam in his gaze, he traced his finger along her dipping neckline, causing a stir deep inside.

My Review:

The following review is my opinion and not a paid review. I was given a free copy of the book from the author for my honest opinion.

Laura Wellington is a Sex Therapist she helps couples who are having problems in their sex life. The thing is that Laura is having problems with her own sex life. Her problem is she has no sex life. If she does luck up and get a date and the guy finds out what she does for a living well you see there is no second date. Laura decides to give Madame Eve's 1Night Stand dating agency a try.

Declan Tempest is also having problems with his sex life just not in the same way or for the same reasons as Laura. Declan is a man that could rock your world and I am not talking about his looks, oh he is one hot dude though. His first love ripped his heart right out of his chest. She just reached in and ripped it right out and then turned around and stomped on it. Now Declan like Laura also wanted more needed more so he turned to Madame Eve for help.

I loved the 1Night Stand books and I think that Madame Eve has out done herself with matching Laura and Declan together. This may be her best match she has made so far. What makes it her best match for me is that 1. You have two people that practically have no sex life and 2. With both of them having no sex life they would be more understanding of the other person in how they feel and what they are going through and 3. One is a Sex Therapist whom can help the other with their problem hopefully.

All of this just made it Madame Eve's best match to me. But on the other hand I have not read all of the 1Night Stand books yet but I sure am going to try my best too. So with not having read all of them I really can't make that call yet. I will have to read all of them to honestly say that this was her best match but I will probably be using this one as a guide for all of the rest.

Ok with saying all of that if you like Madame Eve's 1Night Stand series and are looking for your next one then highly recommend Tantric Storm. And if you have not read any of the 1Night Stand series and would like to then I suggest that you start with Tantric Storm. Tantric Storm just may rock your world.

My Review:

I was given a free copy of the book from the author for my honest opinion.

Elena Darcey lives in a world where parents buy babies from a place called Genetic Enhancement Ministry or GEM. GEM clone babies and Elena is a clone. Clones are perfect in looks and in the way that they are built. You know perfect curves in all the right places. Clones are also fake oh they have hearts but don't seem to have any feelings of any kind except maybe for what they want. Elena use to be a bully like her friends. They were mean to the Blemished, babies with genetic faults.

Elena did something that was very bad and wrong something that she should never had done. She helped her friend Mina a Blemished escape from Area 10. This changed Elena and well I assume Mina helped to change Elena too. Elena has no friends anymore and they are bullying her. All she wants now is to get out of Area 14 and be free before anyone finds out what she did. She can't take her friends being mean to her and ignoring her anymore. She decides to enter the beauty pageant and she is determined to win and be free. The winner will get to spend a year in London.

Clarissa a clone who use to be Elena's best friend enters the pageant too. Clarissa is not like Elena she is very cruel and will do whatever is necessary to win and beat Elena. Clarissa is not only completing in a contest she is competing against Elena in more ways than one. She tries to sabotage Elena and get her kicked out of the pageant. But Elena way smarter than most of the clones and she has more to fight for.

I really liked Elena's attitude and all. I loved all the comments she came back with. I mean she was fast on her toes. Everyone thought that with her being a clone that she had no feelings and didn't care about the Blemished but they didn't know Elena at all. Elena seemed like a quiet kind of person who kept things to herself. But she would open her mouth when she needed too. She didn't let anyone get the best of her she always had a comeback of some kind.

This is the first book in the Blemished Series that I have read and I can say I loved it. I just wished I had read and heard of this series before and I could have read Blemished first and known about Mina and what Elena did for her. But hey I can still read Blemished reading The Fractured: Elena first didn't leave me hanging to much I still know a little about what she did. Sarah Dalton gave me enough background to sort of let me know what she did for her friend.

The Tale of the Valiant Hero Kenta
Ezra Jonah Jacobs
Genre: Fantasy/Romance/Historical/
Action-Adventure

Date Published: March 22, 2013

Synopsis:

Kenta Takeyama is a 16 year old martial artist who possesses superhuman strength and abilities and the Takeyama -ryuu fighting art. He desires to become the most powerful shogun on the Nikkoujima (Sun Light Islands), as there are much more powerful men in the world. He lives with his father Tesshin, who trained him in the martial arts, and his mother Amaya, who is the former princess of a royal family and master fighter; his little sister Mana, who wants to become a famous play actress and open her own production studio, as well as his pet bear Kumomori, whom he had since he was 4. Kenta finds that it's time to follow his dreams of becoming a great and powerful shogun (using his power to protect people and build more homes and villages, help the poor and starving, rather than just for pomp and circumstance. He wants the people to live in peace and prosperity with no fear, as the world is already entering another age of war. Essentially, he wants to change the country). And so, with his parents' permission, he decides to travel to Senkyou to enlist in the military and become a true samurai warrior. He feels confident that the can do so after going through many trials and travels through his childhood, and training under the tutelage of his father in his family's martial arts styles.

During the first part of the novel, after a little love fiasco with his childhood friend Yumine who has a crush on him and sparring with some buddies, he travels the lush and vibrant island and helps many different people out. As Kenta reaches Senkyou, he meets new rivals and friends, such as Natsumi, a new love interest and Hayate, a mysterious ninja who wants to raise up his own organization of ninja mercenaries. During basic training, he discovers that the capital is being attacked by powerful youkai. The powerful beasts appear and disappear in a flash, even the temple priests are having trouble. Does the Great Tengu King of the Gogonji mountain territory know anything about these attacks? Do our heroes stand a chance against these swift and powerful foes? What is the reasoning behind all of this carnage?

Excerpt:

After the ceremony was over, Kenta decided to return to his room to get some sleep before leaving on his trip in the next few hours. His father polished his old tachi for him as well as a wakizashi. Thought he had the blade Kunitoki Santenmaru (Perfect Destruction from Heaven) since he was very young, it was still in perfect shape. Its blade was sharp enough to cut through mountains in a true master's hands. Its dark bluish-gray metal shimmered as it caught the light with pearlite bits made into it. He was slightly heavier than an average tachi, though felt as light as the ether in the hands of Kenta. Its grip was navy with a bright red interior, and thick to the grip though not too thick. The top of the sheath was wrapped with thick, bright red string that left two tassels hanging off.

Tesshin noticed his son's gazing over the exquisite and beautiful blade. He was completely entranced.

"No matter how much I look at this sword" said Kenta "I'm always amazed at how nice it is. So, I really don't mind using it. I feel like I'm becoming one with it every time I use it…"

"Kenta, not only did I teach you how to fight" said Tesshin "But also how to be a man and to be a hero. Never give up on your goals or go back on your word. Protect those you love and fight for what you believe in. Remember to give them everything in the military. As your dad, I know that you will quickly rise up the ranks in no time at all. And when you become Shogun, be sure to show your authority to the people as a great and honorable leader. Establish your name so that people hundreds of years from now will remember you and your exploits as a legendary hero and warrior. Never let them forget you…"

Kenta smiled lovingly "I won't. Thanks Dad…"

"And show us around the mansion you get too" he continued as he sat back as his legs remained crossed, the weight of his bodies resting on his palms "I know we would all want to see it. Who knows maybe you and Yumine-chan can give us some grand children"

Kenta felt as if his heart cracked a little as his eyes shot open. At that moment, Tesshin knew something was wrong. Kenta wanted to explain how drunk he was, but was already too embarrassed as it was. Tesshin thought "He'll be able to talk about it when he's ready"

Tesshin then reminded Kenta "Remember to continue your kata and training Kenta. There are still some things that I have to teach you when you return, the special seimei tanren kata (life energy forging forms) from the special scroll. But you need to get some more experience first. I don't think that a kid your age should have such great and uncontrolled power as his father"

Kenta laughed "What? Are you scared that I will surpass you Pops?"

"No way!" he replied "I just don't think that a kid your age should have such monstrous power. If you can control it perfectly, you can destroy everything and anything around you just by bad feelings alone. You are already super strong for your age, so go out there and give them hell"

"Yeah, okay sure" Kenta replied in a nonchalant tone

"What's that supposed to mean?!"

"Face it, you just don't want me getting stronger than you" Kenta said in a light hearted manner

"No way! Like I said, I want you to get a better understanding of your power before you take this next step is all. After this training, you power will jump by leaps and bounds, so much that it can destroy you if you can't control it properly, or even innocent bystanders is all" his father thought to use an example "Alright, it's like…remember that time when I first got back home and I had to get back into shape…"

Kenta had a flashback of when he was five and a colossal dome of energy destroying several islands just over the horizon. The light completely eclipsed the islands as it devoured them whole. A rushing wind blew towards the islands, as great whirlpools and hurricanes were being born in the sea around them and rose to the sinister clouded heavens raging with lightning and rumbling with thunder. Massive echoes of explosive sounds shook the area for many miles.

"RRRRAAAAAUUUUGGHHH!!!!!!!!!" In the heart of them was a shirtless man with long dark hair that was dancing behind him, roaring madly as if trying to keep himself under control. His eyes were white with energy, his face looked like a mad toushin (warring god). The titanic mass of ki turned red, then purple, then blue, yellow, green and back to start the cycle. The beasts of the fields went crazy with fear as the fled the scene, the birds decided to fly south early.

That day, even the many kami of heaven and earth took notice of Tesshin's strength.

"Oh yeah, that's right! I remember! That was pretty crazy!" said Kenta "Alright, I'll wait a little while longer then Pops"

"Good!" he said with a relieved smile "I would hate to send a human bomb to Senkyou, they would be pretty pissed. Since you're new to the military, they won't give you any serious missions at first. You can build your way up the ladder first with the experience and training the military gives you and then when you come back on leave, I'll teach you the final kata of our style"

"Alright, sounds good to me if you really don't think I'm ready"

"Plus, if you think that was scary, you should see your mother, her power is almost as strong as my own thanks to the training I gave her a while back. But she's at least twice as mean as me"

Kenta chuckled and then began laughing hard with his father.

"D-don't tell your mother I said that" Tesshin said as he continued chuckling "She hates it when I tease her"

His mother Amaya sneezed twice, thinking she was catching a cold. She then continued to make some extra snacks and place them in a furoshiki wrapping cloth for her son, which was already literally beginning to pile to the ceiling. Her eyes slowly began to water as she had flashbacks of Kenta as he was five and running around the island. She then began to break down into tears. Tesshin walked into the kitchen and consoled her, wrapping his arms around his wife and telling her that everything would be alright. Though she was usually a strong woman emotionally, she could not bear the thought of the child she held in her womb leaving to live his own life and fight life or death battles.

Author Bio:

Ezra Jonah Jacobs was born in 1988 in Atlanta, Georgia. He was raised in the suburbs 45 minutes outside of Atlanta by his father and mother, having one older brother. Growing up in a small country town, there was plenty of farmland and open plains to play and run around, a good place to let his young imagination run wild. When not outside, he was usually reading, drawing pictures, or playing video games. He has also had an interest in martial arts since the age of 6, first gaining an interest after watching a Bruce Lee documentary and seeing a movie by the name of Street Fighter. He started emulating the techniques he saw in these movies. It was also around this age he became interested into becoming an author after hearing his teacher read a book to his class. He would be influenced more by other books throughout grade school either by going to the library or during in-school readings.

In Jr. High School, Jacobs developed an interest in many new different mediums, including manga (Japanese comics) and ancient world literature, such as Don Quixote and Beowulf (already having some world literature in his background the form of Gulliver’s Travels and Aesop’s Fables while in Elementary school). He also first came across ancient stories of kung fu masters with enough strength to slay lions, enough speed to out run a cheetah, and being able to lighten their bodies enough to walk on egg shells. He found these stories rather fascinating and would spend time reading them, while at the same time trying to find more.

During his time in high school, world literature reads had expanded. He also began reading more of a genre called Wuxia (martial arts fiction), in particular Jin Yong, and was greatly fascinated by the scope of the stories as well the detailed battle sequences. To him it was as if he were watching a kung fu movie unfold before his very eyes. He thought this genre was rather interesting, especially since it influenced all of his other favorite mediums as well, even theater.

At college, Jacobs finally made the conscious decision to become an author. It was during this time, after class that he would spend time typing up many different stories. Many being one-shots (one long chapter), while others became full length novels. He began trying different genres and styles out until reading Jin Yong’s “A Smiling, Proud Wanderer”. He then decided to give wuxia a try and began working on a novel of such style. He had developed many early versions of his current stories, eventually editing and reforming them into what they are now. He also began reading many other novels around this time, such as Musashi, even more ancient world literature such as Canterbury Tales, The Divine Comedy, and The Faerie Queen, as well as many other things that would later influence his works.

Jacobs graduated from Oglethorpe University in Atlanta, Georgia with a Major in Literature and a Minor in Arts. He also studied karate while on campus during these years. As he wrote, he always had in mind to create stories that would give his readers the impressions they were almost watching a movie or a TV show, something interesting and exciting yet bearing the allure of a novel. Jacobs currently resides in Atlanta, Georgia. When not writing, he is usually reading from his extensive book collection, taking walks in the city, and training.

Book Description:

Love, like War, will always find a way…

War has shaped every aspect of Irena Soldan's life-her childhood, her work, her DNA. Unaware she is the genetic host of the second Seal of the Apocalypse, Irena battles for those who cannot fight for themselves. As a top human-rights operative for The Omega Consortium, her company provides both the financial backing required to undertake her task and a charismatic, publicity-loving boss to promote her cause. Life proceeds on plan for Irena until a mysterious, sexy stranger arrives claiming to be her guardian and Irena's path takes a sudden, inauspicious turn for both the erotic and the lethal.

Chago has always been the quiet one amongst his warrior Scion brethren-the brooding, Spanish combat expert with a hidden soft side. A member of Divinity's covert special forces, he's protected humanity for more than a millennium. Still, his greatest joy comes not from the battlefield, but from tending the cattle herd on his remote Montana ranch.

Irena's new assignment takes her straight to the heart of a bloody civil conflict in Sub-Saharan Africa and Chago's mission demands he follow. Expecting a seething cauldron of female whoop-ass, he instead discovers a harbinger of peace amidst a world of ever-increasing violence. The explosively tense situation is further magnified by the cunning Omega Consortium leader, his ambiguous personal agenda, and an ancient foe whose audacious rise to power threatens the world's very existence.

Despite the cataclysmic circumstances, an undeniable attraction ignites between Chago and Irena. Together, they must unravel the ancient puzzle of the Seals and discover her employer's ulterior plans before they both become casualties of War. Soon, both are forced to choose between a past riddled with old torments or risk everything they treasure on a love capable of defeating evil incarnate.

Excerpt:

Something rustled in the nearby bushes, commanding Chago's attention. "Show yourself!"

A figure broke through the brush, looming just beyond of reach of the torch. Chago inched closer and leaned into the blackness.

Inhuman snarls shredded the silence. Decay and moist earth reeked from the unwelcome intruder. Torchlight glinted off rows of impossibly long teeth shoved sardine- tight into a gaping, circular mouth reminiscent of a pool drain. Archon.

Chago focused on the abomination before him and struggled to keep his tone calm. "Innocent, get everyone together and leave."

Innocent hesitated.

Goddammit. He stepped closer and speared his host a furious glare, his patience at an end. He'd not allow Archon anywhere near Irena. "Now!"

Innocent handed over the shotgun and rushed inside to herd the others out the backdoor.

Equipped with a weapon in each hand and an endless supply of vengeance, Chago stepped off the porch. "C'mon, you sack of shit! Fight me!"

Archon swung at him and Chago took a reflexive step back. Fangs were the only sharp feature on his opponent's face. The rest of the bastard's mug resembled a crazy quilt of purplish-gray scars and bulging yellow eyes. Whatever other terrors Lucifer fashioned, his son was a whole mess of ugly. Killing him would be an act of mercy.

He raised the shotgun and fired. The bullet ricocheted off Archon's thick hide, ineffective. Aimed for the head and tried again. This time, Chago clipped what appeared to be an already mangled ear. Smelly, greenish slime oozed forth. Archon grunted but continued advancing.

Shit. He tossed the gun aside and sliced ahead with his dagger. Archon parried with razor-sharp claws. Together, they circled in a macabre recital of the death ballet. A mottled hand swung close and Chago ducked then thrust his blade up toward what he hoped was his opponent's chest. Missed. Fuck. He's miscalculated Archon. Again.

Archon's massive arm struck Chago on the side of the head and knocked him to the ground. Pain exploded through his nervous system as a scalpel-sharp claw cleaved across his thigh. Archon roared, his breath a putrid cocktail of human waste.

Santo Cristo. He struggled against his opponent's overwhelming grip. Numerous assaults slashed his chest, his neck and soon the blood loss made him easy quarry. Death called to Chago for the second time in twenty-four hours and once again it promised to hurt like hell.

Into the silent pause before his demise came a soft echo of reprieve-the snick of a cocked gun.

"Move away or I'll blow your head off, asshole!" Irena's ironclad tone carried across the humid air.

Archon turned and she shot. Green slime splattered, falling from his wounded mouth as he stumbled, tripping in his rush to escape. He gave a final shout of defiance before disappearing into the brush.

Through a pain-induced haze, Chago marveled at the precision of Irena's strike. She'd hit the abomination square in its soft spot. Maybe he'd underestimated her.

My Review:

The following review is my opinion and not a paid review. I was given a free copy of the book from the author for my honest opinion.

Chago and his seven brothers or that is what they call themselves are all part of an elite group of warriors called the scion. They work for Divinity as her group of warriors. Chago has fought for many, many years to protect humanity. All Chago wants now is to retire and live his life on his ranch out in the middle of nowhere with no one around for miles and you can see as far as the eye can see. But Divinity has other plans for him at the moment she sends him on another assignment to protect the second seal. Chago strikes up a deal with Divinity, he will go and protect the second seal from being released if she will then allow him to retire, she agrees.

Irena Soldan is the second seal she has known war all her life and in her work. She works for The Omega Consortium. Her job is to take care of people and fight battles that they can't fight for themselves. Irena has no clue that she is the second seal and that Lucifer's son Archon has escaped his father's clutches and has come to earth to find her and release the second seal. Archon believes he escaped but between you and me I don't think he escaped at all. I think Lucifer let him escape it is all a part of his plan to open the second seal and start the big war, the Apocalypse.

Chago and Archon fight each other on more than one occasion. This is not the first that Chago and Archon have met. They met a long time ago when Archon murdered Chago's mate. Ever since that day Chago has sworn off women not that he hasn't been with a woman since but it says he will never love again. But when he meets Irena his body tells him a different story. Oh they fight against their attraction for each you know since they both have sworn never to love again. Will Chago and Irena put aside their difference and learn to trust and love again? Will Chago save Irena from the devil's son?

I had the opportunity to read the first book in the Seven Seals Series Seal of Destiny and loved it. I am glad that I got to read Kagan and Mira's story and her being the first seal. And I am also very glad that I was given the opportunity to the second seal in the second book Seal of Surrender you to read about Chago and Irena's story and her being the second seal. Now I can't wait to see who will be the next seal. I am still holding out for Xander and Zoe. Xander is one of Chago's brothers and a member of the Scion. Zoe is Mira, the first seal's best friend. Who will be the third seal? Will it be Xander and Zoe or will it be one of their other brothers and a new girl?

The Seven Seals Series is one fantastic series and if you have not read then you don't know what you are missing out on. You need to Seal of Destiny and the Seal of Surrender. Although you don't have to read them in order to know what is happening but if you don't read Seal of Destiny first then you will miss out on Kagan and Mira's story which is a great story. So pick up your copies today and see what all the raven is about.
