Excerpt:

His tongue licked gently across her lips and she sighed, leaning into him, allowing him access. She threw caution to the wind and went with it, her tongue met his tentatively. Like she did, he tasted of wine and beer. Warnings bounced around in her head, telling her this was not supposed to be happening. But she was sick of being uptight. Tired of always doing just the right thing, constantly worrying about what would happen if…

With her arms to her side, Casey pulled her to him. One hand going to her waist, the other lifted and his big hand cupped the side of her face tenderly. Her arms lifted and her hands came to rest on his shoulders. She had to do it now. Push away or she wouldn't be able to. She fought with her emotions while his tongue fought to go deeper into her mouth.

She relented, giving in to the heat of the moment. Her hands snaked up around his neck, the other into his soft hair. She pulled him closer and kissed him back.

She heard Rosa giggle but was too engrossed in the lips and tongue devouring her to pay any real attention. Paige heard the rustle of clothing and thought vaguely that Rosa was allowing Tadd to remove her shirt. She had never done anything like this before, not with another couple in the room. The thought terrified her, yet it also turned her on even more. Groaning, she deepened the kiss and pressed herself against Casey's muscular chest. It felt good to be held in strong arms.

The room was hot; the windows were open to let in the evening air. The fans circulating thick humid air did nothing to cool the heat of bodies in the room. The military base didn't have air conditioning in any of the buildings accept for commanders quarters and offices. The barracks and lodging buildings were supplied with oscillating fans. But none of that mattered. Paige wanted to feel him holding her, his skin touching her, him inside of her. She broke the kiss and buried her face in Casey's shoulder, trying to catch her breath and make sense of what she was doing.

When she looked up, Rosa and Tadd were going at it hot and heavy on the couch. His pants were unbuttoned and pulled down far enough that Paige could see the top of his ass cheeks. Hips rocked back and forth against Rosa while she ground against him.

Casey saw her look over and he glanced too then gave her a lopsided grin. He slowly leaned forward, giving her time to either move away or meet him half way.

Oh, what the hell, she met him half way and this time, the kiss was slower. His tongue delved into her mouth and licked at her in slow sensual moves that had her wanting to straddle him like Rosa had straddled Tadd. The rustle of clothing sounded again.

Paige heard Rosa and Tadd getting up from the couch.

Rosa met her eyes over Tadd's shoulder and winked. Turning around, her back to Tadd, she grabbed his hands and placed them on her breasts. He was eager to oblige and began to massage her bared perky mounds, pinching at her dark rose colored erect nipples.

My Review

Paige is a 40 something year old woman, a mother and wife who is on a business trip in Japan. She has not seen her husband in six months. Two years ago her husband cheated on her with another woman. Paige wanted to make her marriage work so she forgave him for his indiscretion and they went on with their lives.

Paige goes for a night out with her friend and coworker Rosa to a club. While at this club Paige meets this hot gorgeous guy, Casey. She has no intention of cheating on her husband even though he had cheated on her. But when she meets Casey he is a very nice guy and starts to fall in love with her and tells her how beautiful she is. Her husband has not paid her much attention in a very long time. Paige is a lonely woman not because she has not saw her husband in six months. Her marriage has not had any excitement in it for a long time. She has feelings that she has not felt in a long time and can not resist Casey and his advances.

Paige starts having nightmares about her friend Rosa and Casey being vampires. She doesn't tell anyone about the nightmares because she thinks they will think that she is crazy. But when her husband shows up in Japan unexpectedly. She realizes something strange is going on. Rosa and Casey knows things that she has not spoken of out loud. Things that she has only thought but they know some how. She finds herself in the middle of two vampire clans feud. Paige has been chosen, she is "The Chosen One". She has been chosen to be turned into a vampire. She has to decide between Casey and her husband of which one of the two will turn her into a vampire. If she picks her husband to turn her then Casey will die. Who will she chose? Will she pick Casey and let him die? Will she chose her husband to try and save her marriage?

I have not read a romance book like this in a long time. I have not read them, let's see how do I say this, well because for me they have umm to much romance. But I see that the writing style has advanced and is more mature in some way. Maybe it is just Marylynn Bast's way of writing of putting things into words. I am real glad that I decided to read One Bite to Passion it is a very intriguing read. I could not put it down.

Top Ten All Time Favorite Characters In Books

    The Stand
  1. Stewart Redman from The Stand by Stephen King. Stew was just a great guy, a country boy always wanting to do what he could to help someone else. He would do without or hurt himself to keep from hurting someone's feelings. He always tried to do what was fair for everyone.

  2. Lonesome Dove
  3. Gus McCrae from Lonesome Dove by Larry McMurtry. Gus was every bodies friend. He was a guy with a lot of humor. He loved to play but he new when it was time to be serious too.

  4. Marked (House of Night, #1)
  5. Zoey Redbird from the House Of Night Series. Zoey would always stand up and for fight for what she believed in.

  6. Burned (House of Night, #7)
  7. Stevie Ray Johnson from the House Of Night Series. Stevie Rae was a country girl who liked her cowboy boots and blue jeans. She would stand up and fight for her friends.

  8. Witchblood
  9. Jess from Witchblood by Emma Mills. I like Jess because she is different than all the rest of the vampires. She can control her desire for drinking human blood better that the other vampires. She is a very strong willed person that is not dependent or always needing another person around her all the time.

  10. Twilight (Twilight, #1)
  11. Edward cullen from the Twilight Saga by Stephenie Meyers. I like Edward because when he thought Bella was dead he was going to end his life because he didn't want to live without her.

  12. Twilight (Twilight, #1)
  13. Jacob Black from the Twilight Saga by Stephenie Meyers. Yes I like Jacob too. He is one gorgeous dude. Jacob loved Bella too and he would have given up his life to protect her. But I don't think he loved her like Edward did. Jacob was always trying to keep Bella away from Edward mainly because he wanted her. Where Edward would have let Bella go be with Jacob if that was what would have made her happy Jacob would not have if she had been his. At least this is how I see it.

  14. The Awakening (The Vampire Diaries, #1)
  15. Stefan Salvatore from The Vampire Diaries by L.J. Smith. Stefan is very nice looking guy. He is very sweet and really loves Elena a lot.

  16. The Awakening (The Vampire Diaries, #1)
  17. Damon Salvatore from The Vampire Diaries by L.J. Smith. Damon is one very good looking hot dude. That is all the reason you need to like Damon.

  18. The Sword and The Prophet (#1)
  19. I liked the twins Tyler and Lillybelle from The Sword and The Prophet (#1) by Missy LaRae. Tyler and Lilly was raised with their mama always scream and yelling at them all the time. And yet they still had so much love in them. They were easy going until they had taken more than most humans could have handled and then they would fight back.

Blog A Quote #3

Blog A Quote is weekly meme hosted by Michelle Chew Writes. Each week we will be sharing a quote from our favorite books. For more info and to sign up visit Michelle Chew Writes.

My quote for this week is from Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi
“I spent my life folded between the pages of books. In the absence of human relationships I formed bonds with paper characters. I lived love and loss through stories threaded in history; I experienced adolescence by association. My world is one interwoven web of words, stringing limb to limb, bone to sinew, thoughts and images all together. I am a being comprised of letters, a character created by sentences, a figment of imagination formed through fiction.”

I relate to this quote a lot. I have actually spent just about my whole life between the pages of a book. Getting lost in the world of the characters in a book. At times not knowing what is going on around me or out in the world for hours at a time.

What is your favorite quote?

My Review

Chris goes to see his brother Dave in the hospital. Dave had a motorcycle accident and broke his leg. Upon arriving at the hospital Chris hears the nurse get a call and she tells him to vacate the hall and then she leaves. People all over the United States is getting sick with flu like symptoms. Chris tells Dave that they have to get out of there that being in a hospital is not a good place to be when everyone is getting sick. Chris and Dave witness people attacking and eating each other. Chris and Dave cannot comprehend what they are seeing.

Chris and Dave take off for the roof with a group of people to catch a ride on a helicopter. When the helicopter arrives there is not enough room for everyone. Chris is left on the roof trapped with zombies trying to brake down the door to the roof to get to him. The streets below are swarmed with zombies.

I have to say I was kinda disappointed with Air just a bit. Not with the story itself. I really enjoyed reading Air it was very intriguing. What disappointed me was the fact that I assumed that book 2 of the undead would continue with Megan and Jack's story from Fire but sadly it did not. I still liked Chris in Air though he has the heart of an angel.

My Review

An infection, a virus has broken out all over the world and turning people into zombies. People are attacking each other and then eating them. A navy commander has been given orders to nuke parts of the United States. Everyone is in shock not knowing what is going on. What is happening to all the people? Why are they attacking each other?

Everyone or anyone that is still alive is running trying to stay alive and survive. There are two groups of people. Megan's group are very good people they want to do what ever they can to help people to survive until they can get the world back on its feet again. The other group, ran by the navy commander Hollister wants to take over the world. Hollister will kill any one that goes against what she wants.

Fire is written from different character's point of view given us an inside to their story. We get the back ground on their lives as to who and what they did before the infection broke out. I really liked seeing things from each character's view being inside their head and not getting the info from someone else. I can't wait to read the next book Air to find out more about Megan and how she leads the people. Will she be a good leader? Will the people like they way she leads? Will Megan and Jack become an item? Will Hollister take over the world?

My Recommend for this week:

The Thorn Birds

The Thorn Birds by Colleen McCullough

Mass Market Paperback, 692 pages

Published May 1st 1978 by Avon Books (first published 1977)

Goodreads synopsis:

Powered by the dreams and struggles of three generations, THE THORN BIRDS is the epic saga of a family rooted in the Australian sheep country. At the story's heart is the love of Meggie Cleary, who can never possess the man she desperately adores, and Ralph de Bricassart, who rises from parish priest to the inner circles of the Vatican...but whose passion for Meggie will follow him all the days of his life.

My Thoughts

The Thorn Birds has been one of my favorite books for a long time. I don't even remember any more how many times I have read it. I love Colleen McCullough's writting style how she decribes the Australian Outback. The long road that took you to get to the ranch. All the gates that they had to go through to get there. I have always wanted to visit Australia and I think The Thron Birds is the reason for me wanting to visit so bad.

What did you recommend? Leave me a comment with a link to your Friday Recommend. I would very much like to see what you recommended. If you are new follower please let me know in comment so that I can return the favor. Thanks for stopping in for a visit.

Review: The Sword and The Prophet By Missy LaRae

The Sword and The Prophet (#1) Title: The Sword and The Prophet
Author: Missy LaRae
Ebook: 150 pages
Published: March 29th 2012
Published By: Pretty Wycked Designs

Goodreads Synopsis

“Why'd Mama hate us so much, Tyler?" My head rested on his chest and his arms came around me. Tyler looked out across the tracks at the train station as we waited to find a train headin’ north and he sighed. It reverberated in his chest and into my heart."

"I don't know Lilybelle. Can't say why Mama’d love us one day, and hate on us the next. We just gotta find our way outta here and we'll be okay. I won't let nothin' happen to you."

"Twins Lily and Tyler are bound together by a bond forged through an abusive childhood that neither can escape, and a closeness that defies explanation. No matter how far they run, the pain of their mother's abuse will still be there. Choosing to run fast and far from their mother, the twins head to Charleston, South Carolina, but everything is not what it seems, and they soon realize they may be in even more danger."

"Having never been exposed to the light of the moon before, Lily sneaks out and dramatically changes into something that both fascinates and scares her. She has visions of a world she's never heard of, and her body changes over night. Desperate to escape the twins devise a plan, but are thwarted at the last minute."

"With only each other to rely on they've got to embrace who they are, and ultimately, the destiny that has been written for them."

"Set on Earth, and Amatia Prime, The Sword and The Prophet is the first book in a series that will introduce you to a fascinating new species that loves once, loves deep, and fights for who and what they are against any evil. With scarred hearts, Lily and Tyler must learn what it feels like to be truly loved."

My Review

Tyler and Lillybelle are twins who just wants to know why their mother would love them one day and then right out of the blue just stop loving them. One day their mother was very loving and kind. She would sit and hold Lillybelle and brush her hair for hours. Then she started to hit them and scream at them all the time for no real good reason. At the age of fifteen they left their mother's house in search of their Aunt and Uncle on thier fathers side.

When they find their Aunt and Uncle, Tyler and Lillybelle are very relieved. Their Aunt and Uncle are very nice and sweet people. They seem very appalled at the way their mother treated them. But Tyler over hears them talking and finds out that something is wrong, very wrong. He wakes Lillybelle and tells her they have to leave now.

Lillybelle and Tyler set out on their own not knowing where their going or what they are going to do. People are chasing them and they don't know who they are or what they want with them. Why would anyone want to hurt Lillybelle and Tyler? They are a very loving species who love deeply. I loved how their species felt about their mates, how strong their love for one another was. Although Lillybelle and Tyler were brother and sister they still had a very close relationship. Even with just friends they loved with their whole heart.

The Sword and The Prophet is one of those books that is going to stick with me for years to come. One that I can't seem to get out of my head. You know its like when you get a song in your head and keep hearing it over and over and over. That is how this book has been for me. Instead of a song stuck in my head there's a book stuck in my head.

Needless to say I loved how the writer portrayed the characters emotions and feelings. Especially the way that they feel about their mates. It is very well written it flowed along at an extremely fast paced. It left you always wondering what is going to happen next. I can't wait to read the next book The Prophet of Dreams.
