Seventeen-year-old Krista must quickly figure out how she's going to survive in the zombie-destroyed world.

The one advantage humans have is that the zombies hate humid environments, so they're migrating west to escape its deteriorating effects. The survivors plan to construct a wall at North Platte to keep the undead out, and Krista has come to Nebraska to start a new life.

Zombies aren’t the only creatures she has to be cautious of—the other survivors have a dark side. Krista must fight not only to live but also to defend everything she holds dear—her country, her freedom, and ultimately, those she loves.

Join Krista in her quest to survive in this thrilling apocalyptic novel by Pembroke Sinclair.

My Review:

The world as everyone knows it has just come to an end and nothing will ever be the same again. Now the undead outnumber the living and this is Krista new world. Krista is a seventeen year old girl who lost her parents in the apocalypse. Her father left Krista and her mother one day to find help. He thought it would be safer for them if he went alone to the army base to see if he could find someone to help them. When he didn’t return the next morning her mother just had to go looking for him and she never returned. So Krista is left in this zombie filled world all alone and fighting for her life.

Krista finds a safe place in Florida with people that take her in and give her, her own apartment, sends her to school and gives her a job as well. But the top dogs of this place are lying to everyone at the sanctuary about the zombies. Most people in the sanctuary have never seen a zombie. Krista doesn’t want to stay here with these people controlling her for the rest of her life. She wants to go out there and fight the zombies and take back their world.

So when a guy Liet shows up at the sanctuary and says he is her cousin and has his own place and that they are building a wall in the North to keep the zombies out Krista decides to go with him but that may not turn out just the way she thinks or is hoping but anything that will get her out of Florida then she can make other arrangements. But what she doesn’t count or knows is that Liet is very controlling and abusive not only to her but others as well.

But all is not lost when she meets Quinn a guy who brings supplies to Liet and the people at the compound. At first Quinn and Krista are just friends who want the same things which are to save the people from Liet and the people in Florida as well but things do eventually start to heat up between the two. Quinn and Krista are on a mission to safe the people from Liet, the top dogs in Florida, the zombies and to take back their world.

My favorite show ever is The Walking Dead so I have read a lot of zombie books and watched a lot of zombie shows and movies and I haven’t gotten my fill yet. So imagine how ecstatic I was when Pembroke Sinclair asks me if I wanted to review Life After the Undead as I do love me some zombies. I couldn’t wait to seek my teeth into it. (No pun intended) I would love to see Life After the Undead on the big screen. I can’t wait to seek my teeth into the next book Death to the Undead. I would definitely recommend Life After the Undead to anyone who loves reading about zombies or loves The Walking Dead tv show.

Seventeen-year-old Krista has already proven she can survive the zombie hordes.

After moving to North Platte with her distant cousin General Liet to help build a wall that will keep the zombies in the West, it becomes apparent that the zombies aren’t the biggest threat—some survivors are far more dangerous than Krista had ever imagined.

With the help of Quinn, a survivor and fighter from the zombie-infested wildlands of the West, they free the garrison at North Platte from the power-hungry Liet. But there is a bigger battle to fight.

The Families who rule Florida and use intimidation and the threat of the zombie horde to coerce their territory want Krista and Quinn captured, the zombies want to devour them, and other survivors want them dead. Caught between powerful forces, will they survive long enough to devise a new plan and put it into action? Or will they self-destruct?

Find out in book two of this thrilling apocalyptic series by author Pembroke Sinclair.

My Review:

Krista and Quinn have finally made their stand against Liet and taken over the compound. Once they determined who is on their side and want to help them fight for the people in Florida they leave for the west. They know once Florida finds out what they have done they will come after them. But just as they are leaving Florida brings in the big guns and choppers to destroy the compound thinking they are still there.

They know once Florida discovers they were not there they will come after them for what they did to Liet. After they recoup from their losses they make plans to help the people in Florida to escape from the “Families” and get their lives back.

Krista is one tough girl and I was glad to see that she finally took the initiative to stand up to Liet once and for all well not that she hadn’t in the past but  she did take some of it so that she could survive until the time was right to really fight back. Krista showed Liet that she was some pansy little girl that was just going to buckle down and be afraid of him and do exactly as he said. Oh no, Krista will never stand for someone taking over her life and controlling her. She won’t let a zombie take control of her so she is not going to let a human do it either.

As I’ve said before I love zombies and I have loved following along with Krista, Quinn and all the other characters on their journey of taking back their world from the zombies and the people who want to control them. I loved the world that the author has created for Krista and her friends along with the ones who want her dead like the zombies do. I would love to see Death to the Undead on the big screen and can’t wait to read more about Krista, Quinn and the rest of their friends. Oh and the zombies to of course.

Never Go Alone
by Denison Hatch
GENRE: Thriller

BLURB:

THE FIRST RULE IS: NEVER GO ALONE.

"Never Go Alone is an explosive return for both Denison Hatch and his hero." - BestThrillers.com

A rash of elaborate cat burglaries of luxury buildings in Manhattan has the city panicked.

When a group of social media obsessed millennials--a loosely organized crew that call themselves "urban explorers"--are suspected in the heists, undercover NYPD detective Jake Rivett is assigned the case.

Rivett dives deep into the urban exploration scene in pursuit of the truth. But what, and who, he finds--deep in the sewers, up in the cranes above under-construction skyscrapers, and everywhere else in New York--will change not only Jake, but the city itself.

Excerpt:

Jake paced along the familiar corridors of One Police Plaza. He padded across the detective bullpen and past his old office. A clean-shaven man, about his own age, stared back blankly at Jake. Rivett didn’t even recognize the guy who now occupied his former workspace. That wasn’t the nature of most police departments, but it certainly was in New York. The volume of crime was astronomical and the volume of new detective recruits equally high. In fact, many beat cops spent their entire careers trying to become detectives, only to burn out or transfer out within a handful of years. Jake had once been a boy in blue as well. He’d spent the minimum time required—two years—out in a patrol car. He’d gotten his gold shield ten months after that; primarily due to the sources he’d managed to scrounge up while on patrol in Chinatown. While Jake’s ability to measure people was strong, his ability to split them open was legendary. As was his chutzpah. He was like a pit bull when it came to everything, cases not excluded. That was why, during his first few years as a detective, not a single one of his cases went unsolved. But his discipline was another thing altogether. The department was half squares and half circles, but he was four-dimensional. It was a simple as that.

AUTHOR BIO:

Denison is a screenwriter and novelist. He has a number of feature and television projects in development, including his original screenplay, Vanish Man, which is set up at Lionsgate. A graduate of Cornell University, he lives with his wife and a big dog in a little house in Hollywood. He is presently working on the third Jake Rivett thriller.

Ellie Collins has always been good at hiding her emotions, but when they threaten to overwhelm her, she channels them into her work. After leaving behind the first person to capture her heart, Ellie’s heartbreak leaves her more motivated than ever before. She has one more job to take care of and nothing left to lose.

Alex King is determined and stubborn. Unable to walk away from the woman who’s left him dazed, his life is about to get crazier than ever. Through the thick fog of deception, both Ellie and Alex have a decision to make that will change their lives forever. They can only hope that their choices are not taken from them before it’s too late.

When the moves are made and the positions set, who will finally deliver checkmate?

The flight felt like it took forever. He was only still when the flight attendant told him he needed to sit and put his seat belt on. Even then his knee was bouncing, or he was tapping his fingers on the armrest. There was no word on Ellie, and that was driving him completely insane. He was terrified that something had gone wrong.

Finally, the plane touched down and he was allowed to turn his phone on again. There were a few missed calls from Phoebe and Phil. They were probably wondering where he was. He hadn’t bothered to tell anyone he was leaving the restaurant, let alone leaving the country. He wasn’t about to call them and explain himself. He had more pressing matters to deal with.

There was a black SUV waiting on the tarmac outside the jet. It was the same one that had taken his luggage the first time he’d landed in England. The driver came around and opened the door for him. He slid into the back seat and the door closed, shrouding him in darkness. When the driver took his seat behind the wheel and pulled away from the jet, Alex was tempted to ask about Ellie, but refrained.

Every minute that passed felt like an hour instead. He wanted to get to the hospital and find out if she was okay or if she’d even survived the surgery. He needed to know how the hell she managed to get shot.

After what seemed like an age, they finally pulled up at the hospital. He didn’t even wait for the car to come to a complete stop before he was out the door. The anxiety bubbling in his chest only multiplied when he stepped inside the hospital. He had no idea where he was going or how to get where he needed to be. A man appeared out of the group of people, coming toward him.

“Alex King?” he asked, startling him.

“Yes.” Alex glanced at the large, muscular man in front of him.

“This way.”

He didn’t hesitate to follow the man. They walked to the elevators and stepped inside. The man pressed a floor number and the doors slid shut. Again, he was tempted to ask if the man knew anything about Ellie, because he obviously worked for them or with them, but he resisted. He was extremely antsy as the elevator rose to the chosen floor. He wasn’t sure if it was adrenaline or anxiety pumping through his veins anymore. All he knew was he was terrified.

As soon as it stopped, he pushed through the crack of the opening doors. He spotted Luke standing in the hallway, talking on the phone. He didn’t bother to wait for the guy who led him to the floor. Instead, he rushed toward Luke, ignoring the fact that he was on the phone.

“Is she okay?”
